  1. It naturally follows on from the first question where adding new things have received very few votes. Rolf .... is that you? Getting your fingers warm and your voice ready to sing La La La?
  2. I would refuse to go mining. All those creatures around a dark corner or sneaking up on me? No thanks. I would also try teach the PVPers some new dance steps.
  3. Hehehehehehe, I sort of thought it was Xanadu, so no mobs. Too much gravity? You sell bear hats don't you?
  4. That will make the meals a bit more bland and the seas rather weird. I play so little this past eight months, I would hate to be immortal in Wurm.
  5. 300+ votes asking for improvements on what we currently have rather than new things is overwhelming.
  6. One of those little make believe things, imagine you fall down a manhole into a worm hole and appear in a world much like Wurm ... what would it be like to meet your character(s)? I think my first reaction would be to go and find a lavendar bush to hide the smell of them. They fall in the ocean all the time, so rusty and rotting clothes. - all that salt must be very itchy. They get diseased. They spend a lot of time walking around in fields with animals and their dung, - getting ticks and fleas on them They wear searing hot armour, so often smell of burning flesh. They don't take baths. - some priests cuddle smelly trolls. - some wear un-tanned animals parts that are rotting on their heads (like those bear head hats) They don't go to the toilet (just use their pants)
  7. The title was for Rolf. Basically it was saying, "Please stop making new things, especially new PVP things like Challenge, when there is so much in the very core of the game that needs to be fixed and improved." That doesn't fit in a title and doesn't hit home with Rolf.
  8. It is grabs the attention. Two developers have responded already. Rolf is probably on his Wurm and RL meditation mat gathering the strength to ignore us. .... because that auto fight from Progress Quest and the Random Number Generator are winning so many awards for excellent coding? This needs emphasis:
  9. So ... if you do not like a thread - flame it! Then you can get it locked and shut down the thread that offends you? Doesn't that encourage bad behaviour and more "forum PVP"? Can we get onto the fix the core of the game vs making more new stuff, please?
  10. PVP is slower in this game, it would need a longer cool down. Also maybe there should be a cool down if you cross borders under fire from Chaos to a Freedom server to try escape.
  11. The dirt and rocks were conspiring against me, I tell you! They would try and throw me down the mountain to die and they kept trying to trap my cart while trolls rushed up to kill me! (One Troll champion cut through 4 templars and kept chasing me across multiple deeds, we both eventually died, me a little before it.) Sure, there aren't mud slides yet and other things that could make the enviroment work against us. Cave ins, deed decay and such are a few things working against us.
  12. Took me a year to make my ledge. I would say that all that terraforming was player vs my enviroment.
  13. I'm not angry against PVPers. Most of the Chaos BL people, I really like. I am annoyed with the developers for making another huge project of new stuff, when so much has not been finished off and so much else is broken. I see it as Rolf holding onto a dream of Wurm being a primarily PVP game despite everything to the contrary. Combat system could make PVP and PVE hunting more interesting. Random Number Generator. Everyone. Bugs. Everyone. Dead end code (unfinished projects)? Just annoying in gneral. Loading multiple people with less lag? PVE impalongs and PVP combat. Everyone. Connection to the server? Everyone. It is the boring work. Creating is much more fun.
  14. The most important question (2): Should the developers focus on fixing and improving what already exists (not adding anything new after bridges) for awhile is overwhelming. Great stuff everyone!
  15. Profit wouldn't be the goal, it would be the result. Random Number Generator is the clearest broken thing about Wurm.
  16. Anarchy Online kept breaking the PVE aspects for PVP reasons. It was much like Wurm is now in distribution. It is almost completely dead now.
  17. Rolf is clinging on to a dream? Mindcrack is the kiddy version of Wurm. Look at the success it had. There are broken things in the core, things that don't appeal to enough people. Earlier examples in this thread were talking about PVP with staring contests and how boring it looks. The random number generator drives some people crazy. There are fundimental things that annoy people and in a lot of cases probably cause them to quit for a better core game. I love Wurm. I think it is amazing that Rolf has done this with Java. It is an exceptionally pretty game. I simply feel that if they focused on the core, got it right; they could get even more PVE people in to help fund the PVP side that needs a lot more work in order to get it up to an engaging and high quality level.
  18. I find it encouraging that the most voted for things seem to be: Bugs, code dead ends and random number generator. (dead end = finishing projects like wool) Improving client stability and reducing lag when around many other players Yes - to more improvement on what already exists. All of which benefit both PVP and PVE
  19. If I ever bother to raise shield skills.
  20. This whole thread is meant to be a request for more focus on repairing, fixing and finishing off code that is half done. As to amulets, Drake, twigs and res stones, do you not think this is maybe one of the largest barriers to why people do not PVP?
  21. 1) This is to see how many people want more things that will bloat and lag the game. 2) Possibly a whole new combat system? The current one feels very AFK-ish where you dance back and forward trying to time hits or you spam focus. 3) Dead end code is like wool that probably won't go past hats. There is many things in Wurm that have not been full fleshed out. 4) I think when one area has almost nothing but seals, there is something a little strange going on. 5) Like 1) 6) bit like 5) and 1) however, a lot of it can be database items that you do not see in world much. 7) Development time is limited, this is asking where people want the majority of time focused. 8) Is it not about putting a collision object in and then firing up the code for when they are already across the server border, only you make them invisible and invulnerable until they actually connect to that and if they turn back in the last few minute and cross the other way you delete it on the server as it will not be used? Do get a list of the things being worked on, all the bug fixes, continuations of unfinished code in the weekly updates, please.
  22. That would be the point. Everyone can be warned and hide on their deeds or the starter deed they are from if they are homeless. This is not so much anti-PVP as "fix things before making more broken things" it is just that he has made a whole new server and rules, et cetera when so much that is core to the game is still broken.
  23. Great and all that but there is huge deeds all over PVE Freedom servers, there is traders, merchants, transmutation rods, Drake armour, magic chests, ships and all that stuff being bought with silver. Probably more of the stuff as there is less risk of losing it. In greater quantities because there are more players. 1 deed for 1 gold is quickly over taken by 100 deeds for 1.5 silvers each. P.S. If you already answered the poll and want to answer the third question, you can delete and do it again.
