  1. The loading onto carts and ships thing ... it makes starting interesting. They have to get a house nailed down just to store their forge and oven.
  2. I have little hope. I am only back because one of my friends wanted to buy Wurm Unlimited then realised they would have hosting problems for us. (All of us have terrible upload speeds)
  3. I think most veterans and newbies alike get annoyed with the RNG, the "50% chance" is not 50%. Combat mechanics are basically Progress Quest, which affects both PVP and PVE enjoyment of the game. My two friends have joined Wurm and they both enjoy PVP in other games, we play Counter Strike, EVE and such together but when they realised what the combat is like in Wurm, they immediately went, "Meh, re-rolling to a PVE server." P.S. After that - please make it so that Rare flash only happens if you succeed. Edit: To add to the RNG thing. It is really annoying to keep getting really low enchantments when you have 90+ channelling or keep making QL1 items. If you have 90 skill that should at least let you start off with 50-60 QL items. (Imagine a great artist has to draw a kids drawing of a house before they can keep on painting over it until they achieve their house on the prairies enchanting piece. It is absurd to have a 1%-25% roll when you have put so much into grinding a skill.) Edit 2: While we are fundamental changes; how about parcelling land? That way you can give permission to a village for an area of tiles and then there would be less drama and probably more people sharing a village. Larger deeds with more people on them. Edit3: This old thread has some stuff that might make combat a little deeper at least.
  4. Now it is about Random Number Generators and Combat Mechanics... .... but deeper than that, it questions Rolf's development priorities.
  5. Ah ... but how would I then point out the following: Cooking! Yay!!! Bees! Yay! Huge Patch yay! Benefit to both PVP and PVE Better Random Number Generator (RNG) .... erm what? More engaging combat mechanics ... nah ... Progress Quest is where it is at! As to grinding and how big those curves are for time sinking when you try raise multiple skills ... that needs a whole thread unto itself. (By the way, Rolf, glad you finally fixed amulets, can't believe you let that go on for so many years).
  6. I remember the big bee threads of 2011
  7. If there is 100 people in local then that is more hide for everyone than the minimum that can be given out. A lot of people are happy to sell their blood or their hide. There is always more blood with more people. If a group wants the kill and the loot from the dragon itself, I am fine with that. I didn't find it after all.
  8. "Only Mayor can name branded animals or mine out supports" Good. In the mayor we trust.
  9. As far as I can tell, the new "grey" priests have an almost full set of spells that can go with either the White Light or Black Light kingdoms. The only thing missing for the Black Lighters is Nimbleness. So, considering how Nahjo is so popular and Nathan follows on from that, I would give Nimbleness to Tosiek or just straight up to Libila. http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Tosiek
  10. If this is implemented, we must always be able to kill them and put them out of their misery.
  11. " ... but .... but my mummy told me that I am special and that my opinion is important! No one should be allowed to shut me up!"
  12. Does it start all shiny and bling and then corrode? Hmm.... oxidizing copper chain armour would be funny.
  13. Character = your toon with skills and things. Account = personal information that is supposed to be linked to a real person and an e-mail address. So it would be changing which account the character is linked to rather than handing over the whole account. There was also discussion of account sharing. The hash is useless. There should be a sub-account, so you can let someone log into the toon but if the owner logs in they disconnect the sub-user. Similar to how a mayor has rights over a citizen. Further, trading just the character means that you can trade it for silver. Account A offers their character. Account B accepts and send money Account A now has money Account B now has a character. Far more clean and secure. A transaction without giving away passwords or having to take huge leaps of trust because it can all be handled in code, must like the trade window but as web pages.
  14. No to this until I can bard, shoe and saddle my war cow!
  15. I need to remember turn off the page notifications.
  16. Ouch. Worse than I thought. What a waste of server space.
  17. No room for political dynamics or cavalries rushing to your aid. There should be a cut off point where Epic population drops low enough that the cluster is closed and the characters are converted to equivalent Chaos ones and dropped off there.
  18. No. You have to draw a line somewhere. PVP items - you want to keep them you fight for them. It is not impossible to send an alt to help.
  19. Well based on one thing: People not on the forums will know the account was sold. If someone doesn't tell all their friends or leaves people who haven't been on for awhile they could be tricked or scammed. Having to take a new name prevents that.
  20. Firstly, accounts should not be trading hands. That is what should define the person behind the character for the staff. Secondly, I think when a character is traded to an empty account; the new owner should be forced to pick a new name and they get, "Formally known as XYZ" when examined or maybe even as a title that they can't remove. For some reason, I never trust characters after they were sold and I know about it. Something does not sit right that another "spirit" is parading around in someone else's "body' and identity.
