  1. Your shot at winning with this argument is about 50/50. Remember Youtube is a private company owned by Google. So it's not like we can force them to monetize our stuff.
  2. Even then they will ignore the fair use argument. I used that with the submission to monetize the wurm video and they didn't want to hear any of it. I wish I didn't have bandwidth caps with any ISP in my region because I would be uploading on at least 3 platforms for distribution and monetization. It sucks because I also have to limit quality of my work to 720P in stead of 1080P.
  3. One of the reasons why I started using my own background music when doing the videos. I haven't had a hit on music yet but have had youtube screw me over on a video for the game. I sent them the updated policy twice and now they just ignore me. Oh well, I will take the arrow this time on that video as it has done better then a few others related to Wurm Online and helps with view statistics. Keep in mind youtube will insist on getting copies of emails to allow monetization of games which is screwed up.
  4. Yes, but if you wanted to take someone to court over the issue you need to use their court system of the country they operate from. This is why it's easy for so many people to sell pirated stuff in many nations that have very lax copyright laws and enforcement. That's nice and dandy but a publicly listed post over the issue would be the best way to handle the aspect of videos of Wurm. A publicly listed post will allow video makers to quickly see what the company wishes to have in the videos and what the company doesn't want done with the videos. Not every person will want to take the time to write up an email requesting the terms Code Club AB wants over the videos. The key words being "mad money making scheme," I don't earn mad money from Wurm videos in fact I don't even make enough money from Wurm videos to pay for the electricity that I use to make the video. I'm not like Bashur who gets a decent amount of views where people line up to partner up with him to offer better commercial deals. I'm lucky to pull off 5% of the commercial revenue earned from my videos because I'm still small time compared to many other gaming video makers (last I did the math it was 2.5% average).
  5. Under United States Copy Right Law the videos I have been doing fall under the fair use clause because of the added content. The Tek covered this very well in this video: >http://youtu.be/iJoKsQf90yQ It would be nice though if there was a more clear cut policy posted saying that Code Club AB supports or not support youtubers monetizing videos they make about the game. Allows us video makers to know if we're on our own when dealing with youtube BS.
  6. I stopped doing any videos on Ubisoft games because they had a flag in the system for their load screen for FarCry 3. It wasn't the opening song or any part of gameplay, just the freaken load screen. So I told my corp that I would not do any video work on Ubisoft games for a long time.
  7. Earlier this week I made a video covering some stuff in a battle in wurm and Google decided to do this little annoying thing to the video: Despite me pointing out that it had royalty free music and voice recordings from teamspeak they still want some form of paperwork saying we can make videos from the game developer. So was wondering if Code Club AB could post a statement for youtube monetization. This will also be a handy reference for any future people who make monetized videos about wurm in the future so they don't have to hassle the developers for some sort of email saying they can make videos.
  8. You guys that dis bitcoin because criminals use it should realize the US dollar is used more in criminal activity then bitcoin. Also all coin transactions are public so someone who wants to track a coin could see its full transaction history. Doing bitcoin mining not very profitable because how difficult the algorithm is now. It's good for doing online transactions or sending money quickly to people. If you want to do any kind of coin mining look into the other crypto coins as the difficulty and price are reasonable for those who want to just sell coins.
  9. I'm offering to help him out a little bit but I'm not going to switch sides over it. Leveling a priest up takes a lot of time and I like making undead minions. I can hang around and kill off mobs and some griefers. Or if he wants to transition over to Affliction I could set him up with a good spot to work out of.
  10. To follow up on this I can vouch for this as I have done it and put myself in burn out on video games. I had support of fellow gamer buddies until their seasonal work kicked back in spring and then I became the sole producer of the videos coming out on the channel. I finally got burnt out of video games for a while and actually didn't really game much through the summer. I'm now just starting to get back in the mood to play certain games and looking forward to a few of my friends to get off seasonal work to help make more videos this winter. As for sponsorship I haven't been constant enough or gotten big enough to end up with it but what little money you make off Google's Adsense is not even enough to pay for the electricity you use to render the footage. Me and my friends made a video that got over 6000 views but only made about $6 from it. Most videos will pull in only $0.01 from the views I get in a day. I barely get by as is because no one is hiring disabled vets where I live because everything requires a degree, is construction, or doesn't pay enough for the cost of getting to work. I only make videos just to keep my resume fluffed up so it doesn't look like I sat on my butt doing nothing for that potential job in my local area. I'm glad Bashur got a chance to make it big to where he gets to make the choice of do I make videos for a living or do some other job. I make videos out of a sense of necessity. Just remember for every person that makes it big enough to make a living on youtube videos there is about 500 out there that are trying to make it big.
  11. The economy sucks and if you don't have the money to get certified in anything or a degree then the only way your going places is through entrepreneurial efforts like what he is doing. Also the traditional 9-5 job stuff doesn't work for the people getting out of high school and college. It's a big joke because even degree holders are having a hard time finding work that will pay all the bills. You can mock him all you want but making even simple video game videos that people will want to watch takes a lot of effort. I can spend upwards to a few hours of work putting together a five minute video, that doesn't include render, upload time, or recording the needed material. Just recording the needed footage for the video can take many days in of itself. He making some money because he saw an opportunity and went for it. If your going to berate someone for being lazy making money then attack the CEO's of the international corporations, bankers, and politicians. Other wise your just making yourself part of the problem. And for the last part this isn't the place to post your grips you have about someones source of income. Take it to another board or better yet make youtube videos about your grips about this. Then you will see how hard it can be to make something people will actually want to watch.
  12. You want to do your token in a doughnut house raised up enough to where people have use the climb function to access it. If your going to level out out the area then you want to use the extra dirt to raise where the token building will be. Try and assign houses to multiple people if possible to keep size down. Building upwards helps spread things out. You will also want to make all ground floors with stone. Everything above that can be wood. You will also want to build a small pin for livestock but keep in mind that you can have only so many crammed into an area before disease will afflict them. Keep in mind that you will most likely get hit with a raid in so only keep a small amount of money paid into token so just keep enough in there for a month and you wont have worry about loosing a lot money.
  13. Well interesting to see you came back. Any way I got some extra money this month and might re-premium my account once more for a month. I can offer some support and supplies but it would mean having a HOS priest hanging nearby, as long as the GM's don't have a problem with it as I don't see any game rules against it. I can do weapon and armor enchantments and kill off some of the minor mobs for ya. Plus I can make decent quality construction stuff. All I would need is a fenced in area to work and a cheap alter made so I can keep upping my faith. The alter will also allow me to put down some mycelium to keep my nutrition up and heal. Disadvantage would be that if we are close enough together we will skill gain slower and that we could accidentally attack each other when exchanging materials.
