  1. Yeah sure, why not? -- as long as you can toggle it off.
  2. - 1….mill..bil...z.. no..no, not good enough... Minus Infinity While I applaud all the updates and hard work that has been put into this game recently (a nice change from the previous “Soon†I must say I am flabbergasted by this, in a very bad way. As I have said on many an occasion before I really LOVE Wurm. I don't care that it doesn't have super fancy graphics or other bells and whistles. I'm not here for bling I'm here because of the concept, and what the game is at it's core. I wish this weren't so, but I have worried in the past of a possibility of the game being managed into the ground- to its demise. Today is the first time I have had a thought of “I may end up leaving this game before such a day may comeâ€. That is not to say I am leaving just yet! However, this seems like such a spring from what the current game is that I am no longer sure I understand or have any sort of grasp on what the end-vision is anymore. I don't want to play some fantasy game where players can fly their way into my care-bear Independence deed, regardless of skill it may take, or work they may have to put into caring for a rare creature. I think it would be a huge mistake to get rid of legal enclosures- even if situations regarding it sometimes end up muddy. Where does this leave newcomers that have not yet decided to invest in premium time/deed. Where does this leave someone who is a great member of the community but may not be able at the time to pay for a deed? Even for established players, I have a hard time believing that with all the servers/lands of Wurm there is not enough space for people to have enclosures if they are able to maintain them. I don't see how the situation with enclosures is “broken†enough to mess around with “solving†via complete removal. IMO there is no reason to have an attitude that land, resources, and opportunities are so very scarce. There are what... 11 servers now?... and we still fall into this possessive, protective, attitude whenever we see someone with an enclosure. How will Wurm attract any sort of sustainable player-base if we make the experience w/o premium/deed unbearable? As others have mentioned – starting out in Wurm is huge work! Don't we all remember struggling to get a 1x1 shack up?! Let alone a place to keep some livestock or crops? Wurm is a community – we need each-other, we need noobies. Are new players, or anyone for that matter w/o money, not worth a “pooâ€to the game? Yes, Wurm needs money to sustain itself – but the game is nothing without the community. We have in this game: -those that have played for ages, are dedicated to the game, and will continue to play/pay unless majorly disgruntled -those who are pretty enamored with the game but wouldn’t be devastated if they just sort of stopped logging on *and* --those who are trying out the game to see what it is-- these persons will either A )continue playing and become members of one of the first two groups- recommending the game to their friends and probably putting in nice chunks of money to the game over a sustained period of time or B ) decide Wurm “sucksâ€, takes too much time and is too hard based on their limited first-experiences -You end up with a much lesser chance of new players falling into category “a†if you start moving in the direction of making a game effectively pay-to-play. I'm not saying we should make the game “easyâ€!, but don't make it impossible without paying. At one point I remember Wurm did close down to f2p- It would seem that that business model was not a success or it would still be that way. If this is so- then saying a game is “f2p†but making it “not†is no different than when the game was only p2p... so it stands to reason that taking steps in the direction of doing so is a bad idea... Furthermore – as a care-bear living on Inde, paying premium and deed upkeep, I find the prospect of any player “flying†deeply disturbing. I bought a deed and pay for the land in exchange for the privileges that were sold along with the concept. Now my deed will be mostly useless unless I buy templars to fend off these super skilled dragon raiders... in care-bear land?! That is NO “solution†in my eyes – that is a big problem. Are we really going to take away the “safety†people currently have on their deeds unless they can fork over another few silver every 30 days? Also as others have mentioned what happens to our houses with balconies? Or what about the specialized non-roofed “secret†outdoor wine-aging parlor I built into my house? Last I checked anyone was able to drink/take liquids out of containers … even inside a house.. or on a deed. I would be thrilled to have someone come take the many “kgâ€s of wine I slaved over out of my deeded house.. regardless of whether the liquid was inside my house or inside-but-doughnut-hole-outside my house. Guess I better get started locking away all my beverages, or destroying the layout of my cherished home by closing in the no-roof-by-design spots. (Because I never imagined it would be enabled for someone to just magically fall their way into my home!) If you really MUST put a flying/jumping ability into a game why not just keep it on pvp or otherwise select servers – then people that like the risk of such a setting can choose to go there. Why smack all care-bears with something like this as well? For heavens sake at least keep DEEDS with an option to keep flying/jumping invaders out (player or creature)! (Though this still leaves many noobs (who.. last I checked- we wanted to keep playing) out in the cold... I recently -even with the price hike- invested in a renewal of my premium. The one year option because I play so much, plan to continue, and it gives a slight discount to buy in “bulk†– To be frank, it was pushing the limits on what I can pay for a game. It may not seem like a lot of money to everyone but we all only have as much disposable income as we have, and have our own cut-off points on what we can/will spend. I feel almost as if this proposed “update†is a way to squeeze more silver (for templars) out of players in order to keep such protections as were sold to us when we made the agreement of purchasing a deed. This does not sit well with me in concept, and really I think ends up breaking past what I can put into the game- which to me would mean no more deed, and not renewing in a year. I'd probably continue playing (if possible) on Inde. f2p as a member of one of my alliance deeds- but wouldn't be able to own my own anymore. That is separate of course from the sentiment of not wanting to play a game that goes so far off into fantasy-land. Either way, I wholeheartedly see flying/jumping as a minus to the game, even supposing we could be assured no glitches/abuses would be present if it was implemented. I could go on, but I think many others have expressed other downsides.. and I have rambled on for more than long enough at this point. All of this is of course my personal opinion only, and not necessarily reflective of anyone else, in any capacity, on staff.
  3. I was eventually driven to mute my game .. being unable to find the steppe tiles around my home making that ... steppey sound, so maybe my post wont be incredibly helpful. What I usually do (when I want ambient sound) is mix/match soundtracks off youtube. For example: Birds: >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G8LAiHSCAs >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdIJ2x3nxzQ Rain: >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naOBXOdLiig >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q1EDFA0U2s Night time: >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2skv9kuzTw Ocean: >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f77SKdyn-1Y I know this isn't really what you are looking for, but you can find some really great sound loops to customize wurm according to your mood.
  4. Is there a reason why we are unable to adjust ground placement of flags with the push feature? Would be great to be able to make this adjustment, same as we are able to push banners or other items into the spots we want -- rather than planting or dropping and picking up a million times hoping they will land in close enough to the spot we wish.
  5. Oddly enough I did spend probably an hour afterwards looking for this ninja-bear, and managed to find some tracks... but only for a short while and they vanished walking straight into an oak tree...... I should have thought to look up... maybe bears can climb now
  6. Dead horse... Ok fine, normally I'd say oh well I guess it happens.. Only this is *tooooooo* fishy... I know I will sound crazy but I swear an invisible ninja bear came out of the woodwork, killed my cuddly pet 5-speed companion (non-tame and being led) and then vanished back into nothing so as to never be found again. Look at this log overlap.. I saw nothing... it *had* to be there... yet it wasn't! [22:29:24] Old brown bear mauls Venerable fat Bashirawind very hard in the right hoof and harms it. [22:29:24] Venerable fat Bashirawind is dead. R.I.P. I didn't see this bear attack, it didn't attack me after killing the horse... I cant find it anywhere! Has this happened to anyone else? DARN YOU, NINJA BEAR!!!!!!!!!!
  7. So much for this being a figure of speech...
  8. Who says they haven't?.....
  9. I think the decay on deeds needs to be fixed -- as others have mentioned it has been increased. I am tending to lean towards a -1 on this -- because the increase in decay on the deeds imo is ridiculous. This makes me think of the hub-bub over needing to purchase a spirit templar to keep your deed lamps on when that had been part of what your upkeep was paying for in the past --- an idea that was quite quickly reverted. Waiting awhile after that incident, then upping the decay and letting players suggest having to pay a templar above and beyond the upkeep to keep a deed in good condition is the same thing in my view. Also I would add that I liked to use a meditation rug outside my front door on deed... never used to take damage and now it does. I have given up on my front door flowerpots because I simply don't have the time to continually water them.... if I was off-deed I could perhaps accept this.. but on deed it irks me.
  10. I would not oppose also being able to put such a container on the back of a cow/bull, bison... or...even a dog?
  11. Suddenly I find these forum thumbnails highly suspicious....Crazed eyes, I tell you...
  12. I have a story... A long long while ago..... I was but a new Wurmian, the type that always got lost and tried to look for moss on the north sides of trees or watched the grass and wind direction to find my way (no, it did not work well). I had finally found a path from the starter town I could remember leading to a nice spot. I was working on building my little shed in the wilderness and chatting in Freedom, feeling a bit blasé in the task. I don't remember if I brought it up or if someone else did... but the subject of UFOs was at hand. Having heard of these... how shall I say... mischievous GMs, who would sometimes rain punishment down from the heavens in the form of lightening bolts, I began to wonder and ruminate in chat as to whether such a thing might exist in the game as a UFO.... put in the game secretively by these same gods just to mess with us. Almost instantaneously my surroundings changed... vast runs of flashing lights engulfed in a horrific veil of black-- so dramatic I could hardly, if at all still make out any of the landscape that had been around me. I was in panic, I tried to look around myself, I tried to look in the sky ... Even the sky would not reveal anything beyond the overpowering flashes of light. It had to be up there... the gods had come for me in a contraption so vast, so atrocious that it was impossible for my mere mortal virtual eyes to even comprehend. What had I done?! OH CRUEL GODS OF WURM! I was doomed, about to go missing from what just moments ago had been a beautiful new world! I strained once more to try make out my surroundings, a possible escape, only to faintly make out large headed figures off in the distances... They had come for me!!! They had come for me!!! And then.... To be continued........ never
  13. We may or may not be planning on keeping these files in a secret underground base.... Best not to mine in that spot...
  14. Do we know everything there is to know in Wurm? Have you seen something strange? Unexplainable? Does no one believe you or dismiss you as telling tall tales? .... Did you try to warn that noob that went missing after departing on a foraging expedition about the tall, large footed, unique creature you swear you saw that one time you were out wandering with your flask of wine? This is the place for you. We must keep track of these events in our own X-Files!!!! Please list any information you have on such events..... You are *NOT* crazy (well... maybe you are...)
  15. Reminds me of this one time when I was a wee-noob and I had been joking about "what if" wurm aliens existed... then I had a lighting/graphical glitch right after that and was certain for a few moments I had angered the wurm-gods and was *really* going to be abducted by a mod commanding an in-game alien ship.
  16. Awesome! If I was to offer input, my only critique would be to perhaps rough it up a little bit or look into matching the stone texture more with our current set of textures (maybe it does match but the scale is throwing me off?).
  17. Still loving all these pictures, please keep them coming!
  18. Continued Downtime

Hmm... I think this needs some alterations... Good luck wurmdevs, ddosing game servers is like boxing vs blindfolded 5 year olds, easy and despicable. May the person who is doing it get diarrhea forevah and is forced to move his toilet seat in front of his or hers pc everywhere but in front of their PC... because they are banned from the interwebz forevah and evah... amen
  19. Hehe, maybe it is just me, but it almost looks like those three guys in this first picture are all on cell phones... perhaps tweeting or facebooking? #KOSraid!
  20. Enki New Head Gm

Slightly belated... Thank you Oracle for your work as head GM and congrats Enki on your new role!
  21. I think this would be very useful, and is probably quite needed by the playerbase.
  22. Hedge thread has been archived so I will try asking here (Since it seems semi-tree'ish related). Are we anywhere near having new models for hedge types? *crosses fingers for a "yes"*
  23. Oleander is highly poisonous in real life... in Wurm it is pretty but serves no function! Why not give it one?! I propose we use oleander for poison-- and be able to use the poison on arrows. Unless removed a poison arrow would continue to slowly infect the wound. Perhaps the poison could also be applied to other weapons and applicable to the first hit the weapon deals after being poisoned -- the effect in this case might be something along the lines of increased heal time on the injury. If we wanted to be really devious ... maybe it could be possible to poison food or water sources (water source poisoning should have a limited period to it.. so as to not poison it forever... ) This might be best only implemented in PVP ... but it would at least there give a use to testing water or examining food before eating...
  24. When you are out driving the day after a big storm see a huge mangled fallen tree branch and your gut reaction is that you better get away from that huge spider NOW... ... rather than being a sane rational adult and thinking something more logical.. like.. for instance that giant spiders don't really exist and it is just a pile of branches (This dilemma is compounded if you suffer from arachnophobia - which I do...)
