  1. You have your threads mixed up sir, this post made bye the OP is about OFF deed decay.... And Who trusts a new player to not be a spy??? Most of us will talk to a new player in Global for a week or two and then we might invite them onto our deed once they have proven there not just an alt from another server! So again most new players find themselves on there own living out of a wooden shack which at the current decay rate will fall down the day after they build it!!! Which I am sure is going to make them love the game and want to continue playing....
  2. An enemy draining your token will remove 15% of the monthly upkeep cost from the upkeep fund, of which the drainer receives half. Upkeep cost is treated as always being at least 5 silver, which gives a minimum drain of 75 copper (37.5 to the drainer). A drain can occur once every 24 real-time hours. Then if you sit around and camp out the deed and drain it the next day you get 50% more! But who is that much of a griefer that they camp out a deed to try and disband it??? You guys must be on chaos because in the last 4 years I have only ever seen 1 deed get totally wiped off the map, because most of us consider that type of play to not have any honor or point? Its doesnt help build up a PvP community it only makes people pissy and leave?
  3. If someone actually hires enough guards to allow the max drain to be big enough to even remotely take a dent out of the deeds funds maybe! If you find someone stupid enough to hire guards in the first place!!! But anyone who doesn't have guards and has any money on his token is in Zero danger of being disbanded and again if your goal is to actually disband someone then you guys are just douche bags!
  4. You can only drain .75 on average every 24 hours... If your seriously believing that your going to camp out a token for a month in order to drain if of its silver in order to make it disband?!? You can be serious??? And if you are??? Get a life?!? PvP is one thing but trying to disband a deed is just lame!
  5. You have no idea how this idea is nothing but a waist of time?!? .75 Silver is something that is worth your time that you need to bother even trying to do it??? Of your goal in Wurm is to make silver bye draining it then you are definately waisting your time......
  6. The instanced idea IS HORRIBLE.... This is Wurm its a Sandbox ever part of the world is accessible bye everyone else with enough lock picking and or catapults and or fightskill so get this Instanced crap idea right out of your head!!! Absolute NO NO AND NO!!!! You want a 5 man dungeon go back to playing WoW!!!
  7. How is that any different from just making one giant deed??? I see no issue with your grid above if someone wants to make 9 deeds with a deed in the center, why the heck not??? Looks smart too me! In order to do this big grand design they would have to fork out lots of silver not to mention the work involved to make this giant deed of such a monstrous size would require alot of players in a game where there arent any??? Again this feature should be availabe on Epic I can see where it could get abused on Freedom, as I am sure some carebears would figure out a way to block of a big chunk of land this would be an abuse there.... On Epic blocking off a chunk of land is not an abuse because if you don't like it you simply do something about it... If they can take the time to build the walls and place the deeds then you can take the time to build the catapults and collect the ammo.... Honestly all I see when I read these arguements bye people saying that big meta fortress deed = BAD is !!! Lazy PvPer who only wants to kill someone to get his jollys and as far as he is concerned everyone should happily stand out in the open and let it happen!!! And How dare someone run away or build a wall that makes it harder for him to kill you, don't these people understand that I am too lazy to pick the lock or make a catapult to follow him!!! Its my divine right to kill him and take his affinity in Blacksmithing that I will likely never use because that would take up time from me searching the world for someone to kill....

  9. So I have taken a very close look and my 90QL off deed gates are literally taking 3 Damage a Day??? That was about the amount of damage they took after a month in the past? That's an increase of far too much!!! I don't know where the "Quote UnQuote" PvPers who believe this is the greatest thing ever are from?!? But as a long time BLH veteran I don't like it at all! Your Mythical Fortress Deeds that your claiming is the reason we need such high decay were never an issue!!! Because 5 Layers of walls is so much more effective then the current Long House ontop of 300 dirt walls ontop of Mountains? What are PvPers too lazy to build a Catapult to knock down a wall??? The only thing this Decay does is make it even harder to ever have a new player stay and like the game! Because if my 90+ QL Stone Buildings are too much of a bother to keep repaired?!? Imagine what the new players Wooden Shack walls do in this environment?!? I am sorry but Epic is not all about PVP as so many of you think it is.... Epic is a dangerous world for all playstyle's, Merchants, PvE, Farmers, and PvP.... You don't get a monopoly on what the server should be!!! What it should be is balanced for everyone to enjoy, and there is nothing fun about being a Janitor, and Acheivement I get about 50 times a day currently!!!

  11. There is no size requirement if you have 1 tile of steppe and no player is Near enough to it to prevent something from spawning on it then woot woot....

Your own buildings being within your own perimeter does not make them decay any faster than if they were simply off-deed, and perimeter does not influence fence decay at all. In other words: No, your perimeter is not having any negative effect on your own stuff. I am not going to deed bridge towers just to keep them from decaying in less then 6 months.... Epic did just fine a year ago with the decay being at around 9-12 months on 80-90 QL Stone Buildings now a 90 QL stone building decays in less then 6 months!!! Thats just straight up stupid....
  13. No gary I am not going to expand my deed to cover it! Wasnt that long ago my off deed buildings lasted 9-12 months now they last 6.... I build alot of roads gate houses bridges bridge towers all off deed for the use of affliction the more I build infrastructure the more and more work I get being a janitor! Epic doesnt need this stupid decay rate we have Catapults and can bash as it is.... The Freedom types are the ones that want this crap and they should have this crap! There is no reason we should have to suffer with it on Epic!!! There is no reason a Mayor on Epic should have to have a 5 tile perimeter if he doesnt want it... Furthermore their is no reason that two deeds shouldnt be able to be made next to each other on a PvP server it makes perfect sense! So again let the Carebears have there decay and perimeter! But get rid of it on Epic....

  15. +1000 Perimeter being forced down your throat makes zero sense.... I have to constantly repair my bridge tower's my permieter gates etc because I have this perimeter that has a negative effect and I payed for it???? Perimeter definately should NOT be mandatory!!!

  17. First off this opinion is for an Epic Cluster point of view! I believe that decay rates off deed likely need to be different for Epic and Freedom, As Freedomers are the ones that get all bunched up over old abandoned building's being eye sores yada yada yada... And I believe most of us on Epic are really sick of the Crazy High Decay rate for our off deed Gate houses, bridge towers etc.... And I think there is a strong difference in opinion about this game mechanic based on if you are in Freedom or Epic, that this is an example of we need to lower the decay on Epic and leave it be on Freedom! Furthermore I am SICK AND TIRED of the Extra Decay inside of my Deeds perimeter BS... If I could turn off the Perimeter Decay I most certainly would!!! If I could get rid of the perimeter I most CERTAINLY WOULD! But I am forced to have a free 5 tile perimeter.... Gee Thanks alot!!!!
  18. First off a Troll is a low tier mob? Its the top mob as valeri's and uniques are a whole nother ball game! You don't have every troll drop it you have it have a chance to drop it! Valeri mobs like Sol Demons / Deathcrawlers are far easier then a trolls and you can get Seryll off of them! Heck I would be open to simply moving seryl to trolls and moonmetal to valeri mobs....
  19. Sorry Gary I disagree! I am not an avid PvPer so why should I be on Elevation? The disparity that exists right now between The Moon metal decked out guys with there tomes and playergod spell combinations can farm the home servers at will outnumbered 3 to 1 with the home server debuff.... The debuff no longer even matters these days as the outrageous gear and goodies the elevation types have aquired makes it impossible to defend ourselves.... So yes I think its high time the Home servers get more access to moon metals... and this sounds like a great way to do it!
  20. You really Can't be serious???? Naturally there was an initial surge??? Like all the people who already existed in the wurm community that had interest in WU? Plus a few strangers! ****Wake up! There is NO WAY that WU maintains even half that number over 52 weeks!**** And your post is very misleading and flat Mis-Information.... There is a difference between totally exagerated projected earnings! Which is what your 10Million Figure is!!! And what it has Actually made!!! IE what has really actually been sold to date to create earnings! Which is no where close to 10Million! Its not even half a milliion yet and may not even break half a million after 52 weeks!!! So here is a far more accurate projected earnings statement 14000 buyers in the initial 2 weeks. 7000 buyers in the following 2 weeks. 3000 buyers in the next 2 weeks after the first month. 1000 buyers in the next 2 weeks after that. and an average of 500 buyers per 2weeks for the remaining part of the year. 14K+7K+3K+1K+5K = 30K 2 weeks x 26 = 52 weeks in a year. 30,000 x $28 = $840,000 of which half is skimmed off the top to steam and such, wurm will end up with less then half a million at the end of the year! And thats not taking into consideration the 2,000 Lost Monthly Subscription fee's that Wurm would have made if they didn't release this garbage in the first place! Thats: $18 every 2 Months for 12 Months or 18*6 = 108 per person lost a year to WU for 2000 people on average that switched! $108 * 2000 = $216,000 So the 840,000 - 216,000 it would have made anyway! = 624,000 Of short term cash.... In the long term the REAL Cash Cow the Month Subscription side is going to be ill its going to suffer its going to now have an ongoing battle vs its one time fee brother! And in long term the health 6000 Subs that was growing which is now less then 4000 subs and declining will likely continue to decline where as if WU never existed and the rate of wurm growth had continued we could have been looking at 7000 Subs in a year and a half from now.... So Rolf sold his sole for short term gain, will wurm recover? Thats to be seen!
  21. No I don't think this is crazy talk at all.... Yeah a Random possibility of some moon metal off something like a troll would be great for the Home servers! With the huge gear disparity that exists a way for Home servers to get moon metal sounds very welcome!
  22. What noob doesn't care about the economy in any MMORPG? One of the first things a new player thinks about is how do I improve my character so I can compete??? He may even ask in global and he may quickly learn he need a specific QL tool with botd / WoA and CoC. Then he try's to figure out how to make or aquire and if he has made it this far? Because he has asked this many questions and enough people have answered him instead of ignoring him or simply saying stfu noob... At this point in a noobs existence is when he ends up looking at those Vendors at the starter deed and couples that with the info he has recieved decides he needs to buy better tools... Now the next slew of questions that are inevitable in wurm is how do I make money??? Where he gets the sobering answer, dig a 1000 dirt or make 1000 arrows.... Next question is there a way I can make money that's not so labor dirven or boring. In which he might be directed to make 1000's of weapons in the hopes of lucking into a rare.... Eventually he realizes that his ability to make money as a new player is very limited... Then he may or may not stumble upon the realization that his lack of money to aquire decent equipment and everyone around him who seems to have it and kills him on sight because he could be a spy! Seems like a very hard maybe a gap thats so big its impossible to cross! Because there is no doubt that at this point he is discovering the wurm effect? A Day to make 1 Wall for a wooden shack??? 5 Days latter my wooden shack wall decayed that took me a day to make??? So typically at this point the new player quits, and the rare occasions where a new player lasts longer then this period of time is if he happened to speak in global chat when the right kind person decided he wasnt a spy but indeed a real new player so they decided to send a PM and invite them to there village and hold his hand thru the hand holding period! However Hand Holders? Nice people in wurm are FAR FAR less then they use to be! So yes Wurm has a major issue with its economy! Its a very TOP down economy with the Rich getting Richer and the Poor getting Poorer! And yes Wurm has a problems with its community because of the damned ease of being able to toss together an alt for whatever nefarious purpose you need? Scout out an enemy kingdom, find a way around the corpse looting mechanic? To act as a bank? And Yes Wurm has an issue with Grind, many actions take stupidly long amounts of time. Meditation = bathroom break! Why does it take longer to Repair a Wall then to build a new one??? And this last problem I have only now joined the group as before I really felt it was not a problem! The Gap between the elite few in there Moon Armors with there tomes and spells that gap has grown so huge that similarly skilled characters can no longer stand a chance? Guys who are not huge pvpers but did other things in the world like building roads and mines and armor and weapons. That have played 5+ years can now end up in fights that feel as one sided??? As a fresh spawn facing off against this same character??? When a group of 15 Ranging between 99FS-70FS players with 90QL Plate, 90QL weapons fully enchanted with about 5 being 80+Faith priests are literally helpless at there own starter deed with templars/towerguards/rebirthed champion trolls against a group of 5 guys who have become so over geared that it for the most part it has broken pvp. Now while I live on epic PvP has never been a driving force of my game play! However, it was always an option! Eh??? Now I am a believer in the tuck tail and log out approach!!! So I just listed a ton of symptoms to things that are infecting the wurm=verse from my point of view! But I haven't given any ways to fix them, in this post because I don't want it to become longer then the book it already is! But the post would be pointless without suggested fix's So: Economy= Needs an influx of silver that the everyday new player can take advantage of. NPC Bulk Resource Merchant that buys Rockshards? Dirt? Corn? Do some research, figure out the going rates of similiar transactions in the wurm world and then put these NPC's in not to compete or give better prices but to be another option. Maybe they buy 1000 corn at .5Silver and the player rate is 1 silver... NPC Trade Quests Obtain 100 elevation Copper and deliver it to your started deed on your home server without using a Portal... And Recieve 20 copper as payment. These are a couple quick idea's to stimulate the economy! Community= I have always believe there is a simple fix here! Stop making the ability to create spy's and these trash Alts so easy!!! It hurts the community when Legit new players get lost in the sea of spy's!!! Action Timers= So many actions are Pointlessly long!!! This is self explanatory... You can change action timers and not mess with skill gain at all and make wurm less of a grind!!! The Gap between the Elite and the Godly= I honestly don't know how to fix this one, I have for so long believed that the older player is entitled to his advantages because of his hard work and long term play that he should be far stronger then a new player. But there is a new gap forming that's not really because of account age but more about, an equipment disparity. An old Epic Home player could be all rare steel armor and rare weapons with great enchants and good skills but it can't compete, the question is should it be able too? Probably not! So the only answer at this point is if you can't beat em join em??? That's definitely not a fix, either! I think Home servers needs a greater access to stuff Elevation has! For instance why can't the Emperor live on home why don't titles work on home? Why can't you find treasure chests on the home server? Or why Won't the Snake give the Emperor title to a damned Loyal member of BL..... You dance deserving people like Biggi infront of it over and over and NOTHING... But a random spy alt??? Can hold our kingdom hostage??? Seriously The Emperor or King of any kingdom should NOT live on Elevation what king lives in the castle on the edge of the battleground??? Kings live deep in the heart of the safety of there territory! However at the same time why does it matter if its Home or Elevation the King or his officers are on??? The offices should be cross server! And the playerbase of the HOME server needs to be responsible for who the King is! I Recommend every Deed on the Home Server is given a 1 Vote so that the person is not elected by spy alts but bye the actual part of the player base that gives a crap!!! Okay I have gotten a little derailed on that last part but these are some things that need fixing!!!
  23. The number 1 thing about wurm that needs to be fixed is the (Pointless time sinks) I think many people could handle the Epic Skill curve if pointless time sinks didn't exist. What do I mean??? You put a brick onto a wall it takes 3-10 seconds depending on tool and skill? But to repair the wall it takes 30 seconds??? Here is an example of a pointless time sink!!! I can build a new wall far faster then repairing an existing wall... So I don't believe the skill gain needs to be messed with so much as action timers need to be adjusted across the board... This would make wurm feel less grindy without messing with everyones precious skills... The other thing I believe that wurm needs is more free cash in the economy! We currently have Vendors and the ability to put them anywhere we want and this is GREAT... but we have a seller driven economy not a buyer driven one... And while I am not asking for money to drop off every mob, maybe a Buyer of bulk resources at the spawn towns that purchases things like Vegetables or Ore's. Sure we can currently sell veggies to each other but there are logistics involved and there is the whole is buy around when seller is around... Basically we need a way to get more cash into the economy to start to push it towards being a more buyer driven economy!
  24. So here is the situation that our dear Rolf has created! With the creation of WU he has effectively allowed veterans of this game to go make him look bad! huh? how? You ask? Players from all walks of wurm have had there opinions about wurm and what would make wurm better! We have voiced our opinions we have danced and stood on our heads we have flapped our wings and some of them have been heard but many just get ignored. Well now the playerbase doesn't need to scream to the dev's they can just go be a dev.... Why is this bad? Well in a sea of half baked idea's there are going to be some good ones! And one of the best ones is one which everyone knows will be popular and that is the Wurm server with Skill gain somewhere inbetween Epic and Challenge the JUST right skill gain that wurm has needed for YEARS to allow it to really actually be a game, not just a grind! Well that just right skill gain area is already being advertised bye veterans on the handy dandy server listing thread's on this very forum! Another great idea rolf make it even easier for the playerbase to figure out where to go to stop paying you subscription fee's.... your marketing scheme leaves many scratching there head??? Do you even care??? Or is the the prelude to you selling wurm??? But thats a different discussion! You could turn this wonky bad idea into something maybe helpfull if you would release another production Server that can capitalize on the same demographic that these upstart server's are capitalizing on. And that would be something inbetween challenge skill gain and epic. And if you could get it up sooner then latter so it can capitalize on all the hub bub that this half baked marketing scheme has drummed up then maybe you could earn some subscripition's from this instead of just shedding them.
  25. I don't see how a 1 time Buy game is going to effect the development of Wurm Online.... The 25,000 People who payed 25 Euro's once for WU are going to have this huge influential say over the development of the game? More so then the 5,000 Premium Sub's that have re-subbed multiple times for years? Are actually part of the official sandbox, forums, community! (This smash hit some of you are predicting, does not provide any type of re-curing revenue for wurm) And thats the point most of us on the more negative side are making!!! Its a one time buy, it will lure some of the subs away how many of them is yet to be seen but there will be some that leave to run there own private server.... They may come back after they bore or they may not?!? But how many of these new players that try WU will actually say wow I want to play Wurm Online, I love the grind, I love spending an entire week just digging the dirt wall for my deed OMG wurm is awsome!!! Get me a sub.... I really doubt WU will lead to a bunch of new subscriptions.... I honestly believe more Subs will be lost then gained.... So while I no doubt expect to see a large 1 time influx of WU sales off the bat it will rapidly tapper off and with time the sales will drop off to minute amounts... And yes Rolf will get a big influx of cash in the short term that he could use to develop the game and make it better which could then lead to more subs over time.... But if no development happens and rolf sits on the cash, I believe that because WU will have a larger impact on sub's leaving to create there own Private server, then on actually luring new subs to the game... that the sub revenue will likely decrease with time if no development is done... But these are predictions, no one can know for sure what will happen but its silly to not look at both sides of the fence! Will this take enough subs away to kill wurm? I doubt that.... could the short term influx of cash help wurm development? Yes it could Or could the WU gamble have a negative effect on wurm in the long term? This is also possible! Could it kill wurm? Maybe Could it help wurm? Maybe Does it feel like Rolf is gambling?!? Definately!!!
