  1. They still use the GV server. Also I was promised that they wouldn't kick us off, but then I guess you never know what could happen...
  2. Even the maps that were created like ~5 years ago are largely accurate, in some cases pixel perfect. With so few players on GV nowadays and 0 "Active" players depending on how you define active, very little changes.
  3. Does anyone have a GV account they're not using? I might be interested in buying it. Not sure what kind of prices these things go for, but let me know if you might be willing to part with one.
  4. Thank you very much, Telurius. That worked.
  5. Uninstalled Wurm. Uninstalled Java. Installed the version 6 that I was previously using. Installed Wurm. Still not working.
  6. Already have. Although why would a setting that has worked for me in the past suddenly NOT work for me?
  7. Here is my console.Fatalstryke.log: />http://pastebin.com/eeLKwjwM The hs_err_pif2732.log: />http://pastebin.com/bS2T8wxY I just updated my Java version, I just logged in on an old version of Java a few days ago. I might try downgrading my version of Java again, since I've already reinstalled Wurm. Acer Aspire 5515, Windows XP
  8. I'm on GV and I have a few BSBs and one Rare one, and recently (a few days ago at least) the rare one has been invisible. It still functions and can be highlighted. It used to look, to me, like a normal BSB, which would definitely be due to settings. I wouldn't even know what setting to enable to have it glow, but it shouldn't need any setting to have it show up at all. The model loading isn't the problem, everything else (well, other than the new invisible tree bug) is rendering properly. For reference, this is an Acer Aspire 5515 which has an AMD graphics card. I'm on Java 6, and my settings are all the way down.
  9. Well it's partly because when I tried the newer servers I just got horrible first impressions all around. I might try it again, but I don't have high hopes.
  10. What's the animal situation? Don't some hostiles damage fences? And I thought there was this general "deed it or lose it" attitude?
  11. Eh, GV isn't like it used to be but IMO it's the best they've got. I can't imagine having a similar playstyle on any other server, especially if there are tougher creatures and more people that can mess you and your stuff up. Sarcaticous, who then?
  12. Nostalgia, so I don't have to worry about anyone stealing or destroying any of my stuff, and don't some creatures damage fence now or something? And I don't have to worry about overcrowding for sure. Plus I know the map to an extent, not as much anymore.
  13. The original owner of Ammondenihil quit a long time ago and gave me his account, so if you remember him then it's not me. However anyone is free to PM me on any of those accounts, I'll probably use Mortem as my exploring/friending account so people can keep in touch with me if they want.
  14. I take it colossus is by far the toughest thing you can create in GV? Do any colossi still exist? Is there anything else that even comes close?
  15. Ah well. They've been trying to make us move servers for a long time, it's just that they chose really oddly specific ways of trying to do so.
  16. Yeah, we can't talk in Kchat anymore and can't withdraw stuff from the bank, and some of the stuff in or near ND is decaying, like the whole PA area. They took all the animals that could be lead without rope and apparently cows and horses only come from breeders now.
  17. ...is anyone still on GV? All 4 of my accounts are still there. (Fatalstryke, Mortem, Multitaskking, Ammondenihil) Thinking about coming back but it would take some major getting used to, even moreso with all the "wonderful" updates.
  18. I've argued this many times. If you don't like the way people aren't forced to pay for this game, then take it up with Rolf, as I have nothing to do with it obviously. Rolf doesn't mind the players on GV, I don't see why you care so much about them. If the game had a mandatory monthly fee, he wouldn't have gotten a single penny from me because I wouldn't have even played the game in the first place. However, I bought 10s and, had I decided to stick with the game, would have paid for the 10s at least one, possibly multiple times. So why buy 10s and not even buy premium once? Because I don't want premium. It really eventually leads to that. No matter what reasons I may or may not have for being premium, the fact is, even if I had free premium for life on all my accounts, I wouldn't use it. I don't want it, not for money, not for free. And like I've said, not interested in the other servers, and I'm not interested in joining a deed. As for the "mindset" that allows me to play a free game for free, well...it looks like a pretty straightforward deal to me. You're paying for extra features, not so you can be allowed to play. It's not like you're forced to pay premium and I'm getting something you have but for free. No, I'm getting the free stuff for free, and you're getting the paying stuff, and you're paying for it. I bet if everyone had made an alt instead of just moving over to Indy, we wouldn't be having this discussion today. My house is in Catfish Oasis. It's got plenty of stuff, and if it's at all possible, I give the GMs permission to do whatever they want to do or need to do with Fatal House or whatever I named it last, and any of the items in the house or in the inventories of Fatalstryke, Ammondenihil, Multitaskking, and Mortem. Preferably, I'd like my stuff distributed among any remaining players on GV. I admire your resilience and if at all possible wish to remain in contact with you and keep updated on any happenings in GV. I dearly miss the GV as I remember it, which was basically perfect for me. Good luck to anyone that wishes to remain in GV, and if you need any ideas of projects to do to kill time, just ask me - I've plenty.
  19. I have alts on all the Freedom servers. Not interested. Thanks for the offer. Thanks to the guys who've helped make this a very enjoyable experience for a good, long time.
  20. If you mean never subscribed for premium, you're right, I never paid for premium time. Calling it a "free" trial seems a bit misleading, as it wasn't entirely free, and calling it a "trial" also seems misleading at best, but if you want to call it a trial, then sure. I'm quitting my unlimited "trial".
  21. Yeah, I had destroyed a wolf lair a while back - took 3 accounts a couple days, and was worth it, but alas, it did not last. Wolves came back strong as ever, and man is it annoying trying to do anything when surrounded by wolves that you don't really feel like fighting. See I joined this game to escape games where you need combat to thrive, and back when GV was overflowing with people, this game fit that need because anytime something spawned, people would kill it. Not anymore. Any time spent fighting a wolf, in my eyes, is wasted time. The only thing they have that I care about is meat, and I already have hundreds of meat. Not to mention that even with decent skills/equipment, wolves still pose enough of a threat that you actually have to pay attention because you might get a medium wound. If wolves and goblins were extinct from GV, the worst hostile would be, what, mountain lions? Cave bugs that I don't really encounter near where I live? Psh.
  22. A few nights ago I just decided that, for various reasons, it was far past time that I quit. Nothing of value on any of the servers except GV, but unfortunately I uninstalled without really preparing for quitting first, so my house is basically just gonna rot after sitting there for quite a while. If anyone still plays on GV and is interested in having my stuff, let me know. Maybe I can get a GM to zap my house or something, I don't know. I just don't feel like reinstalling the game. Any questions or comments are welcome, and if you remember playing and wish to maintain communication, there are certainly plenty of other ways to reach me online.
  23. +1, sometimes volume and weight are VASTLY different. If nothing else, it seems like an easy and harmless thing to implement - maybe go so far as adding the volume column to other containers
