  1. Mines do not appear naturally. You have to make them yourself. Find a rock face, use your pickaxe and rt click to Prospect. It will tell you if anything is nearby. You want to find Iron to start with. Once you locate some ore, find a rock face close to it that has a slope of 15 or less on either side. The closer they are to the same slope the better the entrance will come out. Use your pickaxe again rt click>Mining>Tunnel and after 20-30 hits (depends on your settings in the server) a mine entrance will appear. Once you have this you can mine Down, up or straight (mine) to move around inside. Do Not make large rooms, dig in straight lines with side tunnels going around 2 tiles. this way you keep the mine more stable while covering as many tiles as possible. If you find a lot of good stuff you may want to eventually reinforce your entrance and intersections from collapsing. Best of Luck!
  2. Is there a way (short of single clicking and protecting every tile) to protect a large area say 125x125? I Do not want to deed that much space. I made a No Build zone to stop building (minus fences "sigh") but would like to protect all the trees in this massive forest to preserve the Natural Hunting Grounds. Thanks in advance
  3. I started Wurm due to a friend who badgered me about this "really awesome game" he played. I ignored such talk because games these days are always the same old thing in a new wrapper. He continued this badgering every opportunity he got. About 3 weeks ago I decided to give this "really awesome game" a go. I dropped into a world full of interesting sights, sounds and things to learn. And this was only the tutorial! The initial shock of dropping into Pristine gave me a jolt of adrenaline. Trying to run and dodge deaths door as Scorpions and Spiders descended on the drop point. Finally Settling upon a hilltop overlooking the water from three sides of my new home is breathtaking to say the least. I want to master Everything there is to do. Unrealistic I am sure, but the option is still there. That is what makes this game truly wonderful. I can Do anything I wish with my time and choose Any skills I want to attempt. A "really awesome game" does not do Wurm justice. It has to be experienced and given it's own "Label". If there is one piece of advice I could ever give a new player it would be... Do Not give Up So Easily! The rewards are More than worth the struggle of learning!
