  1. That video was thrilling. The heroic gang-bang of a dragon trapped in a house.
  2. Other Mmo Stats

That would make sense. And while I agree with Rolf and the crew that developing and running a game like has got to be a headache a lot of the time, I just don't think the questions that he opened the thread with are the right questions due to how sprawling their concerns are.
  3. Other Mmo Stats

The problem with trying to respond to this is that, reading through this a few times, it's a mixture of things that are handled client-side versus server-side. If we're talking about tracking how many spawns are active on a server, then that's a server-side concern. If we're talking raw numbers of objects being tracked (whether on the ground, in inventory, etc), that's primarily a server-side concern but with some impact on client-side processing. If we're talking how many animations, polygons, and textures are being processed, that's a client-side concern. So asking us to compare to another mmo is a little too broad in scope with what you've asked us to compare. I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this request.
  4. Was that in the southwest? Because near my deed (Ered Luin) I seem to be seeing an explosion in the unicorn population recently.
  5. Looks like the coders came up with a better solution than I could think of to propose (the no overhangs thing), closer to what Miretta was positing, if I recall correctly. From my understanding of how this change works, it sounds like a pretty reasonable solution to the most egregrious constructions for the time being.
  6. I'm glad I don't "live" up in that area of the server. So much drama seems to come from that region!
  7. As a new player (just started in december) I don't really find the "grind" off-putting, and I also don't specifically grind skills. I do projects, and plan my projects based upon what my skills allow me to do. For instance, I've put off building a house until I have the masonry and access to clay to build a stone ground floor. Instead, I've been building low stone walls where I want them, and built a wooden boathouse for storage and boat-building. If I don't end up with enough masonry from building the stuff I want to build, I'll see what else could give me masonry skill and plan some more projects to do so. I actually rather like the slow progression, I take the game at a more meandering pace and that is part of the feel of it that I enjoy.
  8. Aariez (Mithirian) caught me in-game and asked what I thought of his suggestion, and I like it more than my suggestions for #5 too. So if it's not too late, I'm happy to change my vote in support of that one.
  9. Maybe #1 should be "Lake of Blood" then. #5: sounds like a good combo of suggested themes!
  10. Yeah, I was honestly just curious to see some numbers. Poll's been up several days to assuage my curiosity, I'm cool with a mod locking the thread.
  11. Clever. Do you actually have to make an intentional effort to be a ######, or does it just happen naturally? You know, I actually really like this suggestion. No idea how practical it would be for the devs to code it, but that's actually the best concept I've read bandied about regarding this whole silly debate to begin with. Edit: Also Miretta's post just above this one is interesting, I haven't seen anyone quote Rolf on that before. I was wondering how much of what is possible with multi-stories today is intention versus coding funkiness. I also appreciate your willingness to disagree without throwing out passive aggressive insults, Miretta.
  12. Or maybe you can get your head out of my ass. You're making an assumption based on... what? I didn't publicly state my opinion in this thread (though I did in the discussion thread). That's what option 2 was for: To change what the game itself allows. Looks like your reading is biased, sir. The poll options weren't biased; that's how little response I got as far as actual solution options in the discussion thread. Option 3 is the only way I could constructively think of to have any enforcement of, as you would put it, "sane buildings." I tried to figure out where to put that, and figured it would just roll into option 2; just use arches to make almost-overhangs.
  13. What? Where did I state anything about the poll being used to enforce anything? It's literally just a poll: I was just curious to see how many people are in favor of which options. That's why it's an informal poll.
  14. If there's been a poll done before, I missed it.
