    Safe havens like that should be kept to a minimum if you want to create a hardcore pvp environment. If people feel the need to have security somewhere reasonably close to hota they should build themselves a secure deed and maintain it.  If enemies don't like it, they should be given the chance to catapult it to hell. Doesn't exactly promote people coming to Elevation either if they can simply hop over from their home servers. Yeah you can say "B-but it's soooo far from hota",  on old Ele people used those portals as well, and by the looks if it the travel time won't change that much if those forward bases are added.

    Would be nice to get home players in, maybe a timeout where after/during the HOTA these deeds open up and the portals won't work so you can't hide in them


     


    Edit: Essentially how other MMOs handle things like this

    Yo Rolf, why not just give those "Epic'ers" a randomly generated map to play on a couple of years while you give Xanadu some basic hand sculpting and some advanced debugging.  Or, if you're just THAT uninterested in Freedom's money, just say so and I'm sure most of us will gladly empty out our home servers so you can shut them down and hope the finance fairy visits you every couple of weeks..... 

     

    Or handcarve them a new map, but then don't go running off to another waste of time like this when your biggest and most publicized server still has lovely landscapes and shoddy everything else.

     Every other game i have played give ZERO compensation when a server crashes / is down for a day etc etc.

     

    This is due to the fact that other games have massive player bases where servers will go down every week for server maintenance, in order to keep them working, and the player base is understanding of this.

    If we're talking about other games, I've played WoW for 5 years on and off, and while it is a much larger game company, I don't quite remember any random downtime outside of the required maintenance, and I never doubted that my subscription money was being well spent (arguably).

     

    Wurm is a much smaller game where the players are much more close to the devs and the nature, and because of the sleep bonus given in the past, it's more than easy to see why some players will expect something back, not like I give a damn about the sleep bonus but the server being down for hours for a reason that atleast, to me is unknown, is terrible.

    Simply cause I'm living on top of a hill and many mobs are on slopes that no horse would ever go.

    That's also another reason why I prefer cloth: when things go wrong I usually escape uphill, not like in the sequence I posted above.

    Sometimes I get a visit from a friend with a very fast horse. But on my hill I can often outrun him. I doubt this would be the same in chain.

    Technically his horse is faster of course, but my hill isn't very "horse friendly". ;)

    Sometimes I open a fight while sliding down the hill where only climbing mode would stop and control the slide.

    It's risky but possible, with horses no way. The easier mobs I even fight in climb mode. Try that with a horse... :P

    Parts of my deed are even unaccessible for my bulls.

    If you wanna tell me now it's all a matter of proper paving, then read my answer to Brash.

    My paving skill is somewhat around 4 and that's for a reason.

    I know it's unusual, inefficient and surely not meant to play this way but exactly the way I want to play this game.

    Somalia is a deed recently made on Affliction and is accepting new players to train for a world of PvP. We are in a strong alliance called the Republics of Dave.

    Our deed has empty houses ready for moving in, archery targets, mostly completed dirt walls, a mine with forges, several iron veins among which there are two utmost ql, and a copper vein. We have horse pens for breeding and public pens for other animals and it's own lake for your boats! Somalia is secure, we have a guardtower and the location is ideal.

    This is the perfect deed for any new player to learn the game and train his skills up in a friendly environment. At Somalia, we have experienced players who will help you along, you will be able to learn skills quickly, letting you move up in the world

    which part confuzzed ya, the part where he can have friends help kill it or the part where he can hire someone to come kill it.  maybe its was just the general thought that it may still be alive that was confusing.  anyway, sorry for making that statement so nonsensical that you couldnt understand it, ill try to dumb things down a bit more in the future jfu
