  1. I watched some of the streaming on Twitch and followed. It really is a nice stream to see a group trying to set up their first village. Teamwork in joining together to kill an aggressive bear was cheered!
  2. I'm having the same issue. Reading this forum thread i tried out the advice posted and that solved the problem for now (cheers Omar!). But we really need a more permanent solution that'll allow us to update graphics packs as well.
  3. Just keep in mind that you can't transport animals over the sea (such as to an island) except for horses and chickens (by transporting their eggs and letting them hatch on your island). So if you'd like to be an animal rancher/breeder an island's a poor choice of habitat unless it's large enough to have a chance of some spawning wild on there. Horses can be led by a rope behind you through the water if you climb into your boat and rope it from there to lead it. Sometimes you'll come across that phenomenon called 'sea horses'. If you don't mind not having the variety of animals, though, islands are liveable environments. But do be sure to explore and prospect first to make sure there are veins for the metals you'd want at sea level or above. So check for rocky terrain on the island particularly if it has no high ground.
  4. Since the main ability that Premium gives is the ability to have skills and attributes over 20, I'd recommend players hold off on buying premium until they've given the game a shot to try it out and develop some initial skills. Now make no mistake, premium is desirable for the best long-term gaming experience, but as it's a real-time based subscription it might be better to hold off and try out the game first. Playing with friends can even add more fun working together as a community, so by all means get friends to try it out with you since you can start out for free. If all goes well and you decide you enjoy Wurm Online, subscribe then so you can get those skills and attributes over 20 and ride horses, captain sailing boats, etc, all bonuses you get from being premium.
  5. There's a Wurm Online setting (visible within Settings at the login screen) within the compatibility tab of 'GLSL Compatibility' which can be set on or off. That's what Vili is referring to. Toggling that off and then saving the settings after the change fixes many problems that players using systems with older or less-advanced video cards (onboard Intel graphics chips in particular) experience.
  6. Mooring rope..

Let mooring ropes be for mooring, as the name implies.
  7. I'm having this issue as well. It's not affecting fruit trees or other hardwood trees tiles, only bush tiles like grapes, lavender, and rose bushes. With sickle equipped, the 'cut grass' option shows but in selecting that option nothing happens. No grass sprouts are produced and no other indicator occurs. This happens on all 'bush' tiles with tall grass.
  8. Cooked meat fits in a Food Storage Bin (FSB), so after butchering cook your meat and let it cool then store it in an FSB. Only get the cooked meat from an FSB right before you fix your meal (or casserole, stew, whatever) and filet it then placing the filets in the frying pan (or other cooking tool) and fix your meals then before there's a chance of decay. The only problem is fish, which can't be cooked to put in a bin before or after filetting.. Really wish there was a way to dry/preserve fish for storage in a bin as others have offered as a suggestion before.
  9. Instead of seeking a RP server (which doesn't exist and from Rolf's comment displayed earlier in the thread isn't likely to in the future), try forming or joining a RP village that's a bit further out from neighboring villages on one of the servers (I'd suggest one of the Freedom Isles servers other than Chaos, as on a PvP server you'd likely be attacked without any emits or poses at all if there were others who didn't appreciate your playing style). But in forming a village of your own (that is, formed by a group of RPrs) on a PvE server, you can choose not to admit as citizens anyone who didn't want to RP and could make sure the player whose character is mayor actively encouraged RP in day-to-day life and activity in the village. Just an idea. Seek a RP village instead of expecting a massive change from the game or others and open it to welcome others seeking a RP environment.
  10. Yeah, logs aren't the only possible tool or item needing for improving a boat. A wooden mallet should work in place of a hammer if that's what examining the boat says it'll need to improve its quality.
  11. Logs and other raw materials can never be improved, just most crafted items can (there are some exceptions of crafted items that can't be improved). What you do for logs is to try to keep raising your Woodcutting skill because Woodcutting skill is your limit for what quality logs you can get. You can cut more trees down and with the higher Woodcutting they might be a higher quality (for higher QL logs) than the ones you cut down before you raised your skill higher. Note that not every single tree you cut down will be at the quality of your Woodcutting skill, there's a die roll involved that checks for success and you might fail resulting in a lower quality.
  12. Seriously, though, from my experience the webpage wiki is alot more useful than the abbreviated version ingame. I've played Wurm Online for years and i still check the wurmpedia webpage.
  13. At non-premium, the only boat you can control (captain) is the rowing boat. The bigger boats need a certain stat greater than non-premium allows. For riding, as said the only animal a non-premium character can ride is a cow which really isn't an advantage to ride. Horses and others need premium for the higher level of skill needed. The same goes for driving a large cart pulled by animals. You can 'drag' a large cart without premium, though. The wurmpedia wiki is an excellent resource, I highly recommend using it for all starter and mid-level players. It's bookmarked for me as i use it often too! http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Main_Page
  14. My large cart has been pulled in and out of my home through a single-wide door many times. Maybe there's some upper limit if there are crates loaded onto it, I'm not sure, but I never use crates but just dump tools and gear into it and drag it in and out of my own place just fine. Added: Though yes, there's a limit based on character strength, I believe, of just how heavy the cart can be loaded for whether or not I can drag it, but that's not connected with being inside a building or not.
  15. Carts, both large and small, can be dragged using the normal 'drag' command (the only way to move a small cart, anyways) into a building through a normal single-wide door. That's pretty easy to do. I guess the issue for the original poster was not being able to *ride/drive* a large cart or wagon into a home that only had a single-wide door.
  16. This was a change requested for Strawberries, which originally could be used to make wine but were unable to be farmed and instead were one of the berries to be foraged. Considerable farming of strawberries ensued for easy and quick wine production then followed, and to balance it out a change was made so strawberries could no longer be used to make wine. Strawberry farming dropped immediately. So to make a long story short, it's been done and not likely to be done again.
  17. As Lolabelle says, there is no 'trial period'. The game can be played without premium with no time limit but during that time that your character isn't premium you'll be limited in skill/stat caps and the ability to do certain things like riding horses or commanding boats larger than a rowing boat won't be available to you. There are other actions that require stats over 20+ to perform as well that you won't be able to do without premium. By the way, skills that you raise over 20 while Premium are used as if they're only at 20 when your premium expires, but if in time you resubscribe to premium those earlier higher stat values are restored so you'd not have to raise them all over again. It's easy to try the game out as a new character for free, no time limit. The point comes when you'd like to have your own deed and perform actions like building multistory or stone homes and have a horse to ride or a set of pack bison pulling a large cart for you and that's when you'll definitely want to invest in premium. So try it out and hopefully you can make contacts with other characters to see if you enjoy village life as a new character. Be advised that without being in a village (or 'on a deed', even if it's just yours alone), your decay rate will be something to watch out for.
  18. The best use for farmer's salve is healing falling damage. Walking off a cliff leaves bruises. I always keep a supply of both a couple flasks of farmer's salve plus a couple kilos of cotton in my inventory. Best to have both.
  19. One thing that can help her chance of being cured of the disease is to make sure she's abundantly fed, with food around that a tortoise eats piled beside her that will be enough so that she never eats it all at any one time. Because the tortoise can't be groomed this might not work, but if you don't want to have to kill it any positive factor helps.
  20. Arrange for someone with a boat (a rowing boat will do) to let you navigate with them along the coast from where you're at. Most likely you'll be able to find some, dig up as much as you can haul to transport back in the boat, and you'll at least have some low quality clay to use for the near future. The quality of the clay is maxed at your Digging skill, I believe. I strongly recommend having a bulk storage bin built back at your home first, as clay decays fast when dug up and not in a bin or your personal inventory. I know for certain there are clay deposits along the coast on Xanadu, but without knowing exactly where you are others can't really say where the nearest would be for you.
  21. No, they simply swarm any boat that crosses over from Freedom like vultures. heh, joke (or is it?)
  22. Try going into the Compatibility settings at the login screen and disabling GLSL Support there (when logged off, then save changes and log back in). That's been pretty necessary for most onboard Intel graphics systems (speaking for myself as i use one).
  23. Thank you for your service in real life, Seancarl, and you bring up a very valid point.
  24. In theory, it might be that by the wording of the policy on highways, having that wooden "boardwalk" section means it no longer qualifies as a highway because not all of the entire length is either two tile-wide paved or one paved tile with sand tiles lining its side. You might want to check with a GM about if there are potential issues that might be encountered in the future. The aspect in question would be if wooden planking counts as 'paved', otherwise it looks fine.
