  1. Maybe such a natural spring node would only be able to appear on a water tile.
  2. True you can pick which nodes you wish to collect from, but in the current system we can once we have enough skill select for foraging anything, vegetables, resources, or berries, and for botanize anything, herbs, resources, seeds or spices. If we take, for example a briar patch node, it is a botanize node which gives "From most to least likely, you could find any of the following by botanizing here: Blueberries, handfuls of raspberries, rose flowers, bush sprouts, and branches." Which is a mix of bush items (forestry) and sprouts and branches (currently forage resource items). The other nodes are much the same, which is why I suggested the the two skill should be merged. I'll repeat what I added about node regeneration, looking after 24 hours. On live (Xanadu) after 24 hours 32 tiles can be foraged, and 31 botanized. On test 2*thicket, and a nightshades (3 nodes) regenerated in one area, and an animal burrow, briar patch, mints, and roots and bulbs (4 nodes) in a second area. Regarding skill gain, from memory the per item skill is not that different. What is different is that number of items within an area is vastly different. Which means that the opportunity for skill gain is vastly reduced. At my skill level (65ish forage/botanize) I am seeing around 125 skill tick opportunities with the current system, and only 24 with the new. At lower skill levels while the numbers are lower, the impact is probably bigger as it slows advancement.
  3. Visually the new system is really nice, but the nodes are not just "slightly less common than tiles you could forage or botanize in the old system" but are very sparse. I'm not sure if I want to imagine what it would look like if there were the number of node there would need to be give the same number of resources / skills in an area as the current system. I think it would very probably start looking quite messy. I think the nodes need to be dense enough that I'm not thinking about getting back on my horse to ride to the next node. Though that maybe the chosen method when searching for the rare node types, rather than just picking everything. I also wonder why forage and botanize are not getting merged, but that maybe is something for further down the line. There is also the loss of being able to select which resource category you want to look for, that becomes available with skill in the current system.
  4. For those that are interested in some extra details, I've done some analysis of the logs: Items found on live The items found from the nodes on the test server: On live there were 73 foraging skill ticks and 60 botanizing skill ticks While on the test server there was just the one foraging skill tick, of 0.0033, and 8 botanizing ticks, 5 of 0.0033, 1 of 0.0034, a 2 of 0.0036 --- 24 hours on from the forage/botanize on live, 32 tiles can be foraged, and 31 botanized. the area on test has regenerated 2*thicket, and a nightshades
  5. Just done a quick test - using a 10x10 area of woodland, so a mix of tree and grass tiles. My main is at 65ish forage and botanise, so used the same skill on test. With the old system: I found 50 tiles that could be foraged, and 48 that could be botanised. With 65 skill that is 3 items on grass/tree tiles, there were no short grass tiles, so that is 294 items. With the new system: I found 2 forage nodes (rotting wood and animal burrow), and 4 botanise nodes (2xUmbellifers, Wild Grasses, and Wild Flowers) with 6 items per node, except for the animal burrow that was only 5. So, a grand total of 35 items. That is quite a difference.
  6. Some nodes with the items you were looking for, Thicket: From most to least likely, you could find any of the following by botanizing here: Bush sprouts, fruit tree sprouts, berries, grapes, olives, red cherries, hazelnuts, green apples, cotton, sassafras, pineapples, and coconuts. Undergrowth: From most to least likely, you could find any of the following by foraging here: Branches, sprouts, acorns, nettles, wemp plants, nuts, low quality logs, and cotton. Tropical Foliage: From most to least likely, you could find any of the following by botanizing here: Paprika, turmeric, coffee cherries, cacao beans, green tea leaves, nutmeg, pineapples, and coconuts.
  7. I know this is only using a small sample size - but, using an alt with only modest Forage skill (18). On Live foraging for 25 items gave 0.331490 skill (remember we have an extra skill event at the moment). On test, to also find 25 forage items, I had to cover a larger area to find forage nodes and got 0.155235 skill. --- Comparing skill ticks: On live, for those 25 items I got 19 skill ticks which averaged out at 0.0221 (ranging between 0.0213 and 0.0282) On test, for those 25 items I got 8 skill ticks wich averaged out at 0.0194 (ranging between 0.0190 and 0.0209) At per skill tick, skill gain is not that different, remember we have a +20% skill gain event currently on live. But, the reduction in the number of tick is significant - though not sure if/how the current live event is modifying the likelihood of getting a tick. Of course the far more significant difference is the sparsity of nodes on test. It seems orders of magnitude lower than on live.
  8. Holy Sites Thread

Noticed this one earlier today, no details other than it's a Libila Pillar of Decay somewhere south of Vrock.

  10. Seems to have something to do with wall proximity, but only with walls on the north and south sides of the tile. In my test, it was the right hand side of the shelf that items couldn't be placed on when against the north wall, the east end. Pushing it to be against the wall on the south side, and it was still now the west end. Rotating the empty shelf, and the end that can't be reached moves with the rotation. I did a quick test to see if the distance from the wall made any difference, and it does, after doing a 'gentle pull' I could place the next object slightly closer to the end. Using the slate floor as a measure, at about 1 brick from a stone wall I could place an object at the end of the shelf.
  11. Lunalong 2023

I hope to be able to join in the fun. As usually I'll flit around imp'ing whatever is least crowded. Looking at the current list most likely Chain and Fine Carpentry.
  12. Which of those times is correct? The event timer looks to be counting down to 21:00 !!! or am I just getting timezone confused?
  13. As Hailiah has already said, it was fine. But, we only had the Fo and Vynora colossi.
  14. I noticed that this was on the test server, at least the other day. Looks very interesting. It would be good to have something said when this is ready for testing, and feedback.
  15. In the forests north of Lormere. https://www.wurmnode.com/server/xanadu https://xanadu.yaga.host/#3407,5705
  16. Thanks, yes they are still just a "?" bag.
  17. Whoops, should have said Shame Abode is a temple not a deed.

  19. Interesting looking update - but will those of us using macOS see any of these graphical updates?
  20. Support ticket raised, but can't help but feel it would be easier for all concerned to just move all characters that are now stuck over on Druska back to Oracle.
  21. Well, currently the rift colossus are complete, so can't test that currently. But, away from rift you can't start or complete colossus other than for the deity you follow. So, I guess that is something that will only apply to rift colossus, that change is currently not on test, or been removed.
  22. Saccing a scorpion, for a current mission, as a follower is still giving 'pending favor'. [06:42:42] You start to sacrifice the aged scorpion. [06:42:43] You call out to Vynora by all her names. [06:42:45] You beg Vynora to accept your offerings. [06:42:47] You ask Vynora for forgiveness if the aged scorpion does not please her. [06:42:49] You ask Vynora to bless you with her favors. [06:42:51] You kneel in silent hope. [06:42:53] You stop sacrificing. [06:42:53] You stop attacking. [06:42:53] An aged scorpion is dead. R.I.P. [06:42:53] You hear a strange sound as Vynora gladly accepts your offerings.
  23. wonder if anybody will take up that challenge 🤔
