  1. Sounds like it wouldn't hurt, I'll try a bow next time spiders spawn. Cheers for the help
  2. Also... Can you shoot a bow over a low stone fence? That would help...
  3. Well, I guess that's one reason I probably shouldn't have extended the farm into my perimeter... doh! Maybe I'll call it an arena then, I seem to have built over a major spider spawn. Regarding Guard Towers. Can Tower Guards respond to calls inside a fenced area from outside it? IE, can Guards walk through fences or gates? Or just like everything else are they unable to move pass obstacles? Wondering if I'll have to build it inside my enclosure and restrict response to just inside it, or if I can get some benefit outside the enclosure as well, or vice versa.
  4. I am having issues with huge spiders spawning repeatedly inside my farming enclosure. Huge Angry Spiders, which typically take me 2-3 hours to slowly kill off while running and hiding a lot. This has happened three days in a row now. Is there a way to stop the spawning? Are they spawning on the fields, or perhaps the packed dirt paths I have inside? It's a fairly sizable 11x11 enclosure, and so far as I can find there's no spider burrow nearby. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. [02:50:36] Digging increased by 0.00354 to 70.0018 [02:50:36] You have just received the title 'Excavator'! I seriously, seriously underestimated the time and effort it would take to level my deed...
  6. Correction to Southern Island containing Kuruko Vista and Respite. Location marked as Respite, is actually an undeeded farm. Respite is located where "Spider Island" is marked, moved back perhaps to the middle of 42G. Spider Island, and Spider Island South are actually East and West of Respite respectively. (Spider Island South at 40F) (Spider Island at 44G approx) There is also a new deed South of Kuruko Vista (Which should be moved northward slightly), named Xanadu. Oxoma is spelled with an O instead of the first A.
  7. Hello! I'd like to make the following submission regarding the island at the south of the map. The one with Kuruko Vista on it's western shore: (Images follow text) First, although I understand the shape is a rough approximation there's a few major errors. Terrain Features: There are in fact 2 marshes and a large beach, however where they're situated on the map seems pretty far removed from their locations. The first marsh is rather small, and should be located on the lip of the landmass at 31x 45y. It is only perhaps a dozen tiles wide. At approximately the location of the current western Marsh is the large sand beach. Not too large, located at about 33.5 - 34.5x, 45y. This is followed by a more substantial marsh in a small bay, Eastern edge of 35x, 45y. Perhaps. The Sand and marsh on the eastern end of the map do not exist. Or are significantly smaller then listed and are hard to spot in the snow . Settlements: By my count there are 9 deeds on the island. Starting from the West: Kuruko Vista: Should possibly be moved north a smidge on the map, but is at pretty much the right location. Exactly 60 tiles Eastward into the interior there is an untouched deed by the name of Spider Island South. Hard to spot from a distance, unless you look for the massive amounts of corpses. Seems like it might be a 17x21 or there about. 43 tiles East, and maybe 12-14 tiles North of Spider Island South, is my settlement of Respite. It is pretty much perfectly between the north and south coasts. This is the unnamed settlement on the map, thus it should probably be shifted southward. It covers most of the ground between the two shores. Along the northern coast it is exactly between the Marsh on the west, and the beach on the east. The creatures get too abundant and vicious to do accurate counts further inland, but maybe 60 or so tiles east of Respite, is another untouched deed by the name of Spider Island It is centered more towards the Southern shore. The entire area from 35x, 45y to 37x, 45y, is deeded by three co-located settlements, and bisect the entire island. Coast to Coast along 35x is Oxoma. Somewhere about the grid line of 36-37x, 46-47y, is the settlement Of Buyan. North and a bit east of Buyan, (37x, 45y) is Petoohee Otvalite. I believe all three deeds are managed by the same group of people. Where the marsh currently is, in 39x, 45y, Botth right corner of the map square is Pinewatch. The unnamed settlement on the eastern coast is called Spiderpine Refuge. Resources: Directly North of Kuruko Vista is a small 2x2 tar pit. There are two clay locations: North of Oxoma (35x 45y) and north of Petoohee Otavalite. (37x, 45y). Though most of the clay north of Oxoma is deeded, there are some tiles in the shallow water you can get to. (As an aside, I know there's clay between Dark Shore and Dark times as well. (Gridline of 26-27x, 47y)) So far as I've prospected. Dirt and Iron in the ground. Population: 40% Spiders 30% Crocodiles 20% Unicorns 9.5% Hellhounds 0.5% Everything else, including us. Formal Request That the island NOT be named Spider Island . 8. Regarding the decay of walls specifically. Does the tile border between an on deed tile and a perimeter tile count as being on the deed in respects to decay? In other words, if I want to fence off my deed, can I place the fence right at the limits of my deeded land, against the perimeter, or do I have to move the fence back a tile if I want to avoid decay? Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the responses. Since my main is already created, and safely waiting in the tutorial, I'll use an alt to get a feel for the game. I'll just have to hope that the unlikely possibility of the new server having a different tutorial entrance doesn't come up. Thanks again.
  10. Hello! In short, I'm trying to find out some details about starting on the new incoming server when it opens up. Wurm Online has been on the edge of my consciousness for a while now, the concept is appealing and it sounds like something I might enjoy. When I first learned of it, it hit all the right buttons for me to become interested and I spent a good deal of time researching the game, reading over reviews and the wiki. However, I must admit that what I learned eventually caused me to pass on it, although not forget it completely. Starting as a new player in a slow skill based game, with a highly established world and player base several years old was less then appealing, learning that, for example, all the dragons, except one, had already been slain even less. It seemed as if all the opportunities had already been taken, the markets already established, the adventure complete, the frontier settled. Whether that was true or not I'm not sure, but it was the perception I got, so I moved on. The sense of breaking new ground, establishing yourself within the community, and having the opportunity to be among the first to accomplish something are all important factors for me. Thus when I read a recent Rock Paper Shotgun article about the upcoming 1.0 release and the new fresh server(s), I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to give the game a shot and see if I'd enjoy it. With some time to go before that release I decided I'd hop into the game just to get a feel for it, how the interface worked, get over that initial confusion over how to move around or how the world worked. That's how I came to the question I'm asking here. I'm rather attached to my alias, it's been with me through many games. It's also only because of the new server that I'm giving the game a go, so obviously it's fairly important to me to end up on it, however, I really rather not have to make a new character with a new name to do so. I'm about to start the tutorial, should I just stay in Golden Valley until the 12th? I'm concerned that since the new server is a "Freedom" server even if it's not attached as of yet, that it won't be possible to get there with this character if I leave the tutorial before it opens. I'd like to get comfortable with the game, but it's not as important to me as ending up on the new server with my character name of choice. Will I be able to get to the new server from the Freedom cluster (obviously with my character reset)? Or should I wait in the tutorial till the new server opens? Or perhaps I shouldn't even start on this character, but make an disposable alt to do my exploring first? Thanks!
