  1. I'm telling you guys. I've mentioned it on numerous occasions. The default control scheme of holding down LMB to look around and not having 'toggle mouselook' on the in-game keymapper is costing you many new customers.
  2. you have to type it in bind SPACE "toggle mouselook" it will save to a keybinds file and you won't need to do it every time you load
  3. i would have quit long ago if they had never implemented toggle mouselook don't you get repetitive strain syndrome having to hold down LMB constantly? i did - so it's not petty to me
  4. lack of mouselook without holding down LMB like some 1998 rpg is one of the main complaints in the negative reviews on Steam 1) the toggle mouselook command isn't even mentioned here: http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Key_bindings 2) you should make this the default so new players don't hate the game bind SPACE "toggle mouselook"
  5. I said it would compare favourably to its competitors (such as Xsyon and LiF both of which are less developed than WURM)... That said, having your own server will vary wildly from what we know in the subscription community - but the customization options proposed mean those who want/have the Steam version will be satisfied as they mold their experience to how they want it - hence *some* good reviews. Players from Steam who are interested in a deeper experience see there is a subscription version offering what they really want - and Rolf gets what he's really after which is more long-term subs.
  6. was there any demand for this? no will the current playerbase pay for the steam version and rush-off to be on their own servers? mostly not will there be increased awareness of WURM in gaming circles? yes will WURM compare favourably to its competitors in Steam reviews? yes will this lead to a greater trickle of players to the subscription server here? probably yes I understand the negative reaction of the people here but frankly this steam version isn't for you. You're all too invested in the existing servers. After almost a decade of development Rolf finally has a game he isn't embarrassed about so putting it in more marketplaces isn't a bad thing.
  7. haven't you heard? some idiot decided to boycott it
  8. look at how much money rolf makes from epic and you might reconsider your opinions about it being a failure
  9. maybe the challenge server will be a decent testbed for improvements they want to make in the pvp/combat generally I think they are feeling 'twitchy' about LiF... also - I think the challenge server could quite easily be something which people don't play on all the time. At the moment the devs have no way of creating 'pvp special events' and if skills/equipment don't really matter (or are already provided) then you could see people logging in for the few hours these special events last for. As a reference from another game I use WW2OL which has intermissions between campaigns and special events hosted on different servers.
  10. the sun rises in the east and sets in the west at mid day it is closest to the south download the map dumps for a more accurate indication of the clay, marsh, mountains etc which you can use as landmarks http://www.wurmonline.com/Maps wiki doesn't seem to be working at the moment
  11. instead of mining how about smelting all those <10ql gemstones down into tiny lumps of seryl?
  12. those tapestries make me think that it's time to allow player made images to be uploaded (1 per player) which allow custom textures to be displayed on signs/tapestries etc
  13. +1 the limitations on what we can do with papyrus are huge as per a previous post by me on this subject - WE CANT EVEN COPY/PASTE TEXT FROM THE PAPYRUS MESSAGE WINDOW !!1!!!
