I need transportation for just myself from The Landing which is the Northeast starting deed on Chaos to the far South of Xanadu. The Landing is right on the crossing side shore so it will be a very short time on Chaos.

I'm coming back to Wurm after a while. Right before I left I had a settlement form that I had purchased for 10 silver that I never used and at this point don't really intend to use. I was just wondering, is there any way to sell the unused form back or anything like that?

This sort of came to mind with the boat changes since it seems like some boats will need deeper water to pass. I know you can surface mine to a certain point under water (is it 7 dirt deep?) After that is there any way at all to make a canal deeper if the bottom is rock?

I seem to be having a problem some others have had. I didn't see if anyone had a solution. When I start Deed Planner (1.7p) the window appears for a brief moment then closes. I have a question about animals that drag carts or wagons. I know that bison have some extra speed on a wagon but other than that is there a difference between horses, bulls, and bison? Is there ever a reason to use one over the other? Now that so much weight can go into a large cart with crates, are some animals stronger than others when dragging a very heavily loaded cart?

oh yes! The crude knife was the step I was missing. I did a search on the wiki for knife and didn't catch that. I didn't think of looking up crude tools.

Up until now I had always thought it was possible to get yourself going from completely nothing besides the steel and flint that stays with you. I thought that with rummaging and making crude shovels and pickaxes to start you could manage it. I found myself in this situation lately when I took the epic server portal back to Chaos. Unfortunately the spot I returned to was far far from the Gold Coast and I was immediately killed by a bunch of kingdom guards nearby. I was quickly sent back to the Gold Cost with nothing at all but a steel and flint. It didn't take me that long before I ran into my first problem. I could forage for a branch to use as a shaft, but I couldn't create a handle without a carving knife, and I couldn't create a carving knife without a handle. It really got me to wondering. Is it actually possible to start with nothing but a steel and flint, without being given anything by anyone?

Thank you all so much for the replies, especially Neskryn for putting in all that detail. The first thing is that I want to mention is that I'm actually not too worried about making money, that isn't why I want to get involved in trading. I'm more interested in the fun of trading in general and the rewarding accomplishment of producting something that is in demand. It's just a part of the game that I want to be able to be involved in for its own sake, any money is a bonus. Now that said, I wonder if in the end Epic is actually the place for me. This might take things off topic but maybe I should really be asking myself if I'm in the right place. I really like being on a pvp server. That might be kind of weird since I don't like to PVP in the slightest. I like it because I like the extra dimension it adds and I like having to think really carefully about protecting my things from being taken or raided instead of just doing whatever and not having to worry. I picked epic because it's newer. I was afraid that on chaos everyone would be so far advanced that I would be too far behind to do anything useful and people would be past the point of needing anything anyways. Going back to trading I have been reading that the economy on chaos is very small and hardly anything compared to other Freedom servers. Hmm, this might be an out there idea but I wonder if I can get the best of both worlds by living on chaos and exporting things to Freedom? I think that can be done, would it even make sense to do? I don't know. Then there are the new servers which are not attached to anything else. There I might be less behind everyone else but then I would have to accept all the non pvp server restrictions... Such a dilemma!

Hi! So, I have been playing Wurm for quite a while now and I've learned a lot about many parts of it, but one thing that has always completely escaped me is trade, merchants, and the economy. I have heard a lot of people say there is an economy out there and things can be made and bartered or sold, but I just have never been able to have any luck at it. Whenever I have tried asking around everyone seems to be completely self sufficient and to not really need anything. I would love to be able to find something to produce that is needed and put the work in to become very good at it, I just can't seem to figure out what my options are. I also seem to be having a really hard time understanding how the merchant system works. Probably the biggest thing that gives me trouble though is that even if I do find someone interested in something I can make, I have absolutely no idea how to price things fairly. I have heard a lot of people talk about 1 silver for 1,000 actions. That's fine for things like stone and dirt, but I'm completely at a loss for things like horses, charcoal/steel, weapons, tools, boats, etc. If anyone has any advice or links to recent (or timeless) blogs/guildes I might not have seen yet, I would really appreciate it. What I would really love is if someone would be willing to take a little time and chat with me about it and help me answer some of my questions. I am located on epic. Thank you! ~Bree
