  1. so my best bet would be to call my isp and explain the problem for them to renew it? I don't want to wait 3 days No, your best bet would be to use a different DNS server until your ISP gets around to expiring their cache entries.
  2. Don't think so, but some people on IRC earlier were having trouble with their ISPs not updating DNS entries in a timely fashion. You might want to change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 (Google's public DNS server) and see if that fixes your problem. If it does, just leave it on that server for a couple days until your ISPs cached DNS entries expire.
  3. Artifacts

I always looked at it this way. Artifacts WANT to be used, and if they are not, they will seek out a new owner. Perhaps set something up like champ points, only different. An artifact has so many "points" when found, though these should probably not be visible, as who can divine the will of an artifact? Those points decay over time, and when they run out, the artifact vanishes or finds some other means to seek out a new owner. Points are gained by using the artifact in the manner it was intended.
  4. Allos mayors to rename on-deed containers like BSBs, large chests, etc regardless of who created them. It is pretty common to have old chests or something around that were created by a long inactive player and it would be nice to be able to relabel them as needed.
  5. You keep repeating that it was broken, but you don't elaborate. I can understand taking this position on 270 slope dirt, as there is no way it could hold that kind of slope. However, since Wurm currently has no practical city walls to take the place of these tall dirt walls, and no way to build a vertical surface that cannot be climbed, the tall dirt walls make a practical substitue within they system of the game. See what I have been working on. Broken means broken though. I find it odd those building such a thing thought it was OK, and didn't report it immediately. Because it was clearly within the rules of the system. The things you are working on are great, but are months or years away. Are you saying that we simply shouldn't build any more deeds until then, since the existing effective defenses, are, in your opinion, broken? Or that we should simply not be able to construct an effective defense against invaders and watch as they steal REAL money from our coffers?
  6. We also have to take into account that you can plan and schedule a raid and get 30 people, however, you can't schedule a defense as you don't know when and where an attack will arrive. If defenders want to spend countless hours building defenses to help even the odds, why is that broken? Now, as far as the minable slope for rock, natural mountains and ciffs have been cut into sheer faces in the real world for thousands of years, and I see no reason why they shouldn't in Wurm if people have the skill to do it and want to put in the time. There were other ways this could have been restricted without completely removing the ability: * You could have made it so that the bottom edge of a tile had to be approximately level before openening a mine door so you couldn't do half the work with silver. * You could have made it so there was a limit on how steep a tile could be before you couldn't put a tunnel opening in it. * You could increase the difficulty of surface mining, either by increasing the timer length or lowering the success rate as the slope being worked on increased.
  7. It wouldn't be too hard to check the volume of parent containers when an item was added to make sure there was appropriate space all the way up the chain. But yes, this is something that would have to be addressed.
  8. I have always felt there was something not quite right about the wood textures (including the existing ones in game), but have never been able to place it. After some more time staring at them, I think the problem is scale. The textures are zoomed in too much, and should be scaled a bit smaller. Just my opinion of course, but would like to see how items looked with the textures scaled down a bit.
  9. Love the weapons, but not too fond of the ores. Rather than giving all the ores exactly the same roughly spherical shape, and just changing colors, why not give each ore it's own unique look, both shape and texture.
  10. One of the games I used to play would let you drag skills out of your skill list and they just turned into a progress bar in the GUI. That method would probably work nicely for Wurm.
  11. Since changes some time ago (months) you do not need to refill and relight off-deed lamps.
  12. Currently all containers always take up their maximum volume, even if empty. While this makes sense for a rigid container like a small chest or barrel, it does not make sense for soft flexible containers like backpacks and satchels. I propose that a flag be added to soft containers and their volume be calculated as the sum of their contents, rather than always taking up their maximum volume even when empty.
  13. You mean like how 20kg of ore yields 1kg of metal?
  14. +1 Using the actual mineral names of the ores, or better yet, if you could find the historical names that were used for them, would be an improvement over the generic <metal type> ore name in my opinion.
  15. I can confirm I have several people not showing up on my Friend's list. If I right-click them, I get the option to remove them as friends, so they are still on my list somewhere, just not showing.
  16. Good idea, would be nice to get some of my materials back when remodeling the deed. Only problem I see is people tearing up pavement just for the materials. But I guess the destroy pavement timer is quite a bit longer than just making the item fresh, so I don't see it being a huge problem. Also, it takes a long time to get to 20 paving, so really only the hardcore road builders would end up with this ability anyway.
  17. Speed penalty should be based on the type and QL of the armor. Better quality armor fits better and encumbers less, thus a lower speed penalty. Also, maybe a way to breed heavier horses (think warhorses) that would have a slightly smaller penalty from armor.
  18. This has gotten a bit off the original topic, but why not just cut down the rate at which free accounts accumulate to 4, or possibly only 2 hours per day. This would leave more slots available on the servers for other free players to get in and try things out. Yes, I know we are getting new servers, but no matter how much hardware you throw at it, there is still going to be some kind of practical limit for how many concurrent players can be supported.
  19. Handy, and not game destroying. I like this suggestion. +1
  20. I would like to have an option when I right click on windows that represent containers to ungroup them, so items are just shown in a single list and not grouped together. Often when imping a group of items, I want to sort them all by QL and work on them from lowest to highest, howerver, they may not all be the same type of item. It would be nice if I could ungroup them so they could be strictly sorted by QL.

This isn't funny, I blame the champions...</sarcasm> Seriously though, this was very funny.
  22. Makes sense that statuettes would take some amount of damage from casting. Also makes sense that the statuette's QL should matter.
  23. I like the ide, but don't think it should be a total freebie, especially if you can setup a fee to take the ferry. You should have to buy an NPC "ferryman" contract from the traders (5s or so) and the NPC is placed in the captain position on the sailboat.
  24. +1 to either spam mode on by default, or for it to remember your last setting between sessions.
