  1. +1 for horse tweaks. Would like reversing to be more difficult, maybe some direction drift and changes you have to control. Make the decision whether to turn around or reverse a real one. The ability to reverse a horse off a ridable slope too
  2. I'd like to see a change to the writs, so a mayor can hold the writ yet the occupier can choose who has access. I've just had to destroy four houses I didn't have the writs for when I was a bit too long out of game and the deed disbanded. The only reason I didn't have those writs was to give the residents that one basic courtesy. Each resident was asked to hand the writ over if they were to be away for any length of time and they had every intention to. It just doesn't work in practice, people take breaks and the last thing they think about is getting you the writ. As for sizes, I'd like to put people in 2x3s and use the adjoining tiles, gated, for a few of their livestock ideally. I'm referring to a raised, space efficient and highly secured Wild deed here though. Initially I let the first residents design their own space with no size restrictions. One made a 9 tile house and had 3 tiles for his horse (other livestock to be kept elsewhere) and the other decided on 16 tiles for the same. Then I made a lot of 7 and 6 tile houses with 2 or 3 private tiles outside each. The newer residents were generally happy enough to have these, coveting the 7 tile over the 6. With allocated village buildings and areas for farming, smithing, storage, cooking, bashing, etc. they'd be able to keep a fairly minimal house if it was wanted and use village facilities. Well that deed was the experiment and I'll put what I've learnt in to the next attempt. I'll be doing varied sized housing again. Starting citizens in the 2x3s and offering the stayers bigger or better places, elders getting the best positions and buildings and more say in their plot. But I'll be keeping all the writs.
  3. Gratz Rolf, will have to grind some sb and catch up.
  4. 25kg ash + 1x gravel = repair your mine floor up 1 dirt.
  5. As a programmer, if you've any spare time to get stuck in, apply to dev and get the richly deserved gratitude of the Wurm community. Careful about how easy you'd make things. Something like a 3 or 4 story house should be extremely difficult to make. I'm sure it would be just a dream for the average dark age person portrayed to get one, how would you translate that to Wurm? By that I mean making the building of it more than reliant on your carpentry or masonry skill. Something like every brick and mortar on the ground floor having to be above a certain ql, 60 for a 2 story and 90 for a 3 story for example. Taking pains in the game to get something rare, I'd like to see more of that, not just being able to make something because you've grinded enough.
  6. I asked Rolf personally if there was ever a Wild reset to make it 4x the size. Maybe at the introduction of elevated water bodies or some other big change it will happen. If or when Wurm sees large numbers of people joining, bigger lands would seem the thing to do too.
  7. That's hardly a comparison. Woodscraps are used 20kg piles as fuel, preferedly so unless you have excess substandard logs. They also have other uses, making kindling being one of the more valuable ones. Metal scraps are invaluable for heavy items not reliant on ql such as fence bars or ribbons. These have both been implemented cleverly, a testament to the thought that's gone in to the details. 40kg of ash + 1x ql lead ore = Superior damage, lighter catapult ammo. Not the best idea ever yet it's a comparative reason to collect ash... and not the worst idea in this thread either. (another use for lead too and ironically defending deeds would be far more likely to hoard these components, leaving a semi-useful bsb loot to continue a seige) TG - first building in and we hit the ash Max - Any lead veins near guys? DM - %&*$! ;D Don't let us naysayers put you off. Please elaborate.
  8. There were about 70 Facepunchers making a village in GV when I logged in to what was a wooded slope a week earlier. All had moved on within 3 weeks but my min spec laptop loved it, getting over 5 frames a minute looking at the floor. I bet that Gary Coleman memorial governor's mansion is still clinging to life there too, surrounded by trees and feral cows. I think there have been other influxes from popular sites, 4chan had a village for certain but I don't know what scale they arrived. Loked quite vast when I went there with probably 20 active villagers left. Waiting for someone to /. this . Yeah, at a push, probably more like |---|
  9. Completely not worth it imo. Compared to the amount of hides that need lye, I think the balance is there now, in your bsb. Saddist is Trying to project reality in to Wurm but in this case there isn't a need. If you'd use 40kg of fuel which turned in to 10kg of ash (you asked for a lot), what would you want to do with it all? Mine would constantly be put in the trash bin, there'd Rarely be any need to keep an ash or two handy cause there'd be tiles full around forges. I'm sure there are uses irl apart from padding Out landfill sites. Small amounts of potash are good for certain plants and thats about the only use I can think of offhand. If 10kg could be placed as 1 dirt, that would be some reason at Least to bsb it. As it is, he's asking for massive quantities of something useless because it's more realistic. Even 1kg per advanced forge as proposed is just creating a waste product without another reason to use it, as I'm sure Mr. B knows. Saddist, give some potential uses for it and it may become something worth looking at, imo. Lye doesn't cut it.
  10. That looks pretty advanced. I'm wondering how that hood would be made and for what purpose too. If that was an advanced forge that was hard to make, using steel etc then it looks good to me too, even producing ash.
  11. I'd like to see more yes, including wallhangings and mats (also more varieties of flooring) but I want them mostly to have a use like walking on matted areas could give silent footfalls, examining art could give soul. For chairs to be used to save water and food while afk would be a great feature I think. I also think Wurm would benefit from having other specific uses for buildings with perhaps bonuses for say, cooking in a designated village kitchen. I particularly like the idea of a grand building designated for meetings where you can sit around a table (slightly oval, octagonal, I suppose even circular, I'm not bothered ;D), team up and talk with the bonus of not losing food and water. New villagers are seldom trusted enough to use village chat or vent to discuss sensitive issues, calling a meeting would be a good way of teaming up for the purpose. OT - Further on this meeting room idea, it gives a good balance between having to call a meeting and publicly talking in front of possible spies for convenience. Spy paranoia is the bain of Wild imo, but pleasant or not, this paranoia is a part of the server. What would Wild be like without that? I'd even say alts, spies and spy paranoia could be seen as a feature if a village did not lose out completely in village chat at the introduction of unknowns. +1 for Wild and spies. The building would be plenty good for meets on any level too. Yeah, anyway seats.
  12. -1 I think you can get ash just by making a campfire with kindling as it is. I see no purpose to the suggestion other than making lye too easy to produce.
  13. If there are going to be more categories, you could make places like market areas come alive with a list of calls from sellers. On the other hand I wouldn't want to live in such a place. An option to mute any particular sound and category would be awesome tbh. i.e "/remove Hot dawgs, get your hot dawgs!" I would like to see a lot more angry and taunting emotes for the battlefield. Could also have an emote for a random funny/stupid/thoughtful quote. ;D
  14. How about some good versions of some of these? Convert or die! Help me with this please. Enemy sighted Need water, food, heal I'm going to die At your service I'm indebted Follow me Keep watch (for afk) We'll head them off at the pass! Bonus emote: You can take our lives, but we'll never run to...
  15. Understated, it gave a good account of the tranquility so often experienced in game and definitely would catch the eye of someone who'd never seen the game, I think. Though it misses out on a great deal of the features, it captures a lot of mystery and I think it's best potential is as a well made fan advert, as you seem to have done by the end. Early on it would pay to state a few things like how everything can be altered and made by the players themselves and that they can play for free on a premium server. I would also have liked to have seen flashes of the dark side of Wurm near the end to cut through the serenity and hint at the emotion that can come from the kvk. I like this as it is but I also think it can be expanded on as Posteh said, if you wanted. Well done.
  16. My UK ping seemed a lot better, quite sharp even through wireless o2 p2p routing. I was worried about the bad latency on pipes to the continent would have an effect but apparently not and there was a distinct lack of server lag which may be a bit much to ask long term but we'll see. Will have wired Plusnet on my good box in a few days which will be much better again. Hope the server works out as well for everyone else, certainly no complaints here.
  17. I'd settle for a fix for the bug where rock tiles show as dirt and you can't mine them at all.
  18. We saw what happened when the WL was dragged to lava. IIRC all the WL altars disappeared, religion stats crashed and not much else happened. Wild felt a bit surreal too till the rollback, perhaps because a lot went down that weekend including 2 rollbacks I think, definitely 2x 5h sb because I wasted 5h on the first sb.
  19. If you give the dechamp option it probably will become Champions Online because champing will become the new route to pvp, the final step everyone takes to their 15 minutes of fame before a dechamp at 1 life. That's raising the bar higher to enter pvp. I don't want to see anyone leaving Wild because their champ expired the last time but those who would say end game if that happened are few I think. More likely the champ withdraws and other accounts are skilled and bought, maybe champed again to do more pvp. If a dechamp option becomes available, I think having it as a once a year option on the turn of the Wurm year would be good. It would take the almost defeated champ out of the equation for Wurm months, possibly make them braver with the remaining lives and still allow them to save the character. And for champs like Michiel who'd fight their last life, it shouldn't affect them doing just the same. As a twist, why not give champs an extra +2 body stats and +5 DR for every life they lose.
