  1. An issue I see is this.

Scorpions and boars are pretty tough creatures for anyone without OK to reasonable FS and some reasonable armour.

Not an issue most of the time, but if archery is your only sensible option against them? A lot of people don't bother with archery and this would basically make this more of an essential (along with carrying bows and arrows) if you want to spend much time out and exploring. Yet another reason for many people to hole up on their deeds.

A potential way around this - Wasps and Eagles will only chase up to 20 tiles from their lair unless they've been hit in which case they might pursue for 30 seconds or something.

  2. I thought from the title that this was going to be someone asking for the kings cape etc. to remain behind afterwards and couldn't believe anyone could actually think suggesting that was a sensible idea :P

As soon as I saw the actual post I am surprised that what happens does happen. To me it makes PERFECT sense that these items should retain their PMK properties.

  3. Aye, the 20 comment is a suggestion for how steep a slope to make to get down in to the dirt to the rock layer. Bear in mind you will need to dig all 4 corners of a tile to rock for the rockface to appear and allow you to tunnel in.

If you mention which server you're on, or ask in Freedom chat on your server, someone nearby might well pop over to explain/help out.

Also, I moved the thread to the appropriate board for you :)

I suggest to give OP a medal for posting the worst suggestion of all times. Who's with me on this?

I've seen worse... That's not to say I think this one's a good idea. As with other people above, I can only see items that can't be player made/found as a good idea in a game shop (trader) and that those items are cosmetic, or confer no particular advantage to players over others (magic chests are nice to have, but don't really give those with, any special advantage over those without).

  5. Well hopefully the title is fairly self explanatory, but the idea is this:

Looking around my deed, I like having lighting at night between buildings, on paths, on the dock area etc. etc. but it all gets a bit muddled with the lights blazing in the buildings too because I have lights placed far more densely in buildings for better coverage. I would like an option in building management to be able to toggle the lights within the building on/off. Preferably this would be an option that means the lights come on automatically if a player enters the building (For PvP purposes would they be triggered by enemies or not? Discuss...) and off again when the building is empty, but I appreciate this may be more difficult.

Anything else to consider for this? Any other alternatives/options to include? Or is it just a terrible idea? :P

I was told since it was in alliance chat it wasn't breaking a rule. But what if the staff member was to PM me

If any staff member is PMing you in a way that would cause you to use /ignore to another player - tell them. If they continue to do so, report it to a staff member a level above that person.

  7. As mentioned earlier in this thread, I'd rather see lead used for this. Yes, I know, technically it's poisonous after a while, but a new use for lead would be really nice to have, while copper can be used for a number of things already.

I like this program. Seems useful. But I got an issue with it. I want to be able to move the camera around in 2D view (and zoom in to where I need to). Yet the camera seems locked on a specific tile, and left/right click just removes/adds.

Use the wurm movement keys - WASD as default - to move around the 2D map as well as the 3D.

I notice someone has already brought up the North is South issue for exports. I assume the powers-that-be are also aware that there appears to have been some melting ice-caps somewhere because the water level has risen dramatically. My 5 story house is completely under water!

As an idea, an option to manually move the water level would be nice anyway :)

Edit: Just found that option ;)

  9. Sorry I'm so late to this topic, and I don't know if this has already been brought up - I've been away from Wurm for a few months, but I have issue with this and it's why I voted no:

For those who dont understand how skillgain works on epic, heres a speedguide.

Lets say 50 actual woodcutting = 71 woodcutting on the curve.

For the sake of simplicity, lets say that at fifty woodcutting one tick on freedom is .2 in size, and lets also say that you get a tick one in three actions.

Now, lets say at 71 woodcutting on chaos, you get a tick 1 in 6 actions.

On epic, if you had 50 woodcutting and were grinding, you would get .2 * 2, one in six actions.

Why? Because you get 2x the tick size, but you get it at the frequency of the curved skill. So at 90 skill, you are grinding while getting the ticks at the same rate you would get if you had 99+.

Early on this means its easier, later on it means its harder. Its pretty simple really if you did any hardcore grinding beyond a certain point.

I just don't hold with that last statement. I've seen some of the skillsets of top Epic players, and of top Freedom/Chaos accounts and how long those accounts have been playing, and if it was harder for Epic accounts from 90+, it would take just as long for Epic accounts to reach 100 as for the other cluster. I have seen relatively young (a couple of years) Epic accounts with far more 99+ skills than Freedom accounts which have been worked hard for 6 or 7 years.

Skillgain on Epic is increased. However increasing the difficulty a little due to the curve is not enough to offset the increase in tick sizes.

Personally I would also be more concerned with all of those accounts that have gained to quite high levels (70 to 85+ or so) in quite a lot of skills relatively easily (I know mine is one of them) - FAR more easily than had that account done it on the Freedom cluster.

  10. IMO this suggestion is one of those first steps on the path to being able to toggle aggressive mobs or something like that. I like the ambience the fog gives and the challenges it produces. It's another facet of wurm that makes it different from other games and is part of the survival aspect of the game.

One might argue that that's all well and good, I can leave it toggled on, but that's not the point. For the sake of simplicity and ease of use, even many of the people who enjoy the challenges of fog would have it turned off. You might as well have it turned off permanently on PvP servers too because no one will give up the sight advantage there.

Basically in providing the toggle option, you may aswell remove fog entirely - which as you may have gathered, is not something I'd support either ;)

  11. This could be fun if used in an RP alliance.

By the way, you should make future suggestion ideas in the Suggestions and Ideas forum section. ;)  Just a tip.

I was thinking that at first, but then I realised it's a question about using the current game mechanics in different ways that wouldn't require any change in game, as such it's not appropriate for that board.

  12. The difficulty is that anyone can make anything. The only way to guarantee where something came from would be to use something that has the creators signature. Unfortunatey, signatures are known to bug from time to time, so I don't think it's possible to rely on such a system. Quite apart from the fact that the account doing the creating would have to be heavily watched and only owned by a very reputable member of the community that everyone would trust not to abuse. I don't think there's anyone that would be trusted by EVERYONE, though you could probably have a fairly solid system going within an alliance or kingdom where all the members know and trust one particular member or similar.

  13. There is a size limit in dimensions and file size for avatar choices, so make sure you read those in the same menu where you'd change your avatar.

As for game changes, there are many. Bridges being a recent one. I'm not sure when in 2012 you played, but BSB's and FSB's for bulk material storage was one of the best additions to the game ever. Crates are a recent expansion of those options. That also brings the 'load' option on carts and boats to transport larger items like forges, beds, furniture etc etc.

Various graphics will have been updated, numerous new models and animations, the character window and crafting window. inventory groups. Possibly rares, supremes and fantastic items would be new to you. Uniques spawn more frequently but loot drops have been altered to reflect that.

The Server Xanadu which is 4 times the size of Independance has been added and it links Pristine and Release to the rest of the Freedom cluster.

I'm sure there's plenty more but those are the main things that spring to my mind.

  14. Very easy to say something you're apart of isnt bias.

I can't help but giggle - that typo completely reverses what you meant ;) Anyway: It's even easier to say that something you're not part of, and thus don't know the inner workings of, is biased.

I don't know about other GM's specifically in so far as the following may be true, but if I had my ticket taken by me, I'd rather I wasn't in my kingdom. If anything I suspect I may be ever so slightly biased against my own kingdom when dealing with things in my efforts to ensure I don't favor my kingdom. I hope every time that I am impartial and my decisions would be the same whoever it was for, and I reckon I do a good job of it. I don't believe that any bias I may have against my own kingdom may be anything other than tiny and not detectable in any way.

As far as forum modding goes - this is already a cross-server affair. Whoever sends a warning or ban notice is not the only person to have commented/dealt with a report. It's been the result of discussions across the board (unless so blatant it requires immediate intervention). Just about every report has comments from PvP and Freedom mods and I know that trying to moderate PvP threads when you don't know what events are actually being referred to, who is who and why someone may have a grudge is next to impossible. I'm more or less at a complete loss when it comes to Epic goings-on because I've not been active there in over two years. Sme and MrGary are frankly indispensible at times just to know who is saying what about whom and why.

I'm also AMAZED a PvP player is asking the PvP boards to be modded by Freedom players. Freedom players don't like confrontation, that's why they're on Freedom [for the most part]. Moderation on the PvP boards would only become stricter and I find it hard to believe that that's what you're asking for.

I cannot see any of the suggestions made in the OP improving performance of the staff, or staff trust among the player-base.
