  1. I usually read a lot of Terry Pratchett books (and start again when I've finished them all :P ), but I've taken a bit of a break. Recently read No Damage by Kathryn Hodgson. True memoir of 4 to 5 years of her life going through all sorts of difficult circumstances (2 runaway fiances, her mum getting cancer and ending up in jail in South Africa!) and how she dealt with it all to come out the other side - very inspiring whist also tear inducing and hilarious at times.

Currently reading The Hiram Key. A fascinating book about the origins of Freemasonry, Christianity, The Templars and more which also goes in to huge detail and uncovers very interesting links between Sumeria, Ancient Egypt and the current Christian and Jewish faiths. Very fact heavy book which is not an 'easy' read. Well worth it though!

  2. Make it so only Vynora JK members can do Vynora missions and same for Fo. Problem solved.

Hardly, it still gives JK two chances to gain powerful items per scenario instead of 1 as per every other kingdom. Allowing only followers to completemissions would also stuff up the many players who are follow other gods for various reasons. I can also just imagine the uproar when everyone on Freedom can only do 1 mission, though the fact that that could have come about because someone wanted even more missions made a suggestion would be hilariously ironic ;)

  3. So, this brings up a point of contention our Alliance has. 2 alliance members both have affinities that are purely PvP and serve no purpose on Freedom (where their characters spawned). How about we prevent this from happening? And give folks like this affinities they can actually use. It's one think having a shoddy affinity... another thing altogether when it doesn't even apply to the server you play on!

  4. from Linton to R11 completed the ends tie into roads created all ready

I can see my house from there!

One day I might tunnel through the mountain to reach that highway - thanks for your work :)

  5. Well seeing as boats decay really slowly as it is, that doesn't have much of an impact, and as the news mentions, there is the possibility for graphical skining for wood type in the future. Of course we don't know which type of wood will look the best after such an update, so it's all pot luck when that happens :)

  6. I was under the impression your refusal to change it was along the lines of bashing me for writing it, then not allowing me to fix it in any way.

    Aha, that makes sense :)

  7. I'm only doing as advised. You want to change my post title, go ahead.

To be honest all of our comments were in your interest. Considering your responses, your leaving the the title alone is more a reflection of you than Kmoufle at this point and I'm not here to step in directly to protect people from their own consequences.

  8. I was aware that fences weren't 100%., I'm just trying to make my bison unsellable. Hit back at the thief.

Y'know, that community policing thing the GMs want us to do.

While no one is suggesting the thought behind your actions is wrong, people are commenting that labelling Kmoufle as the thief is a very wild supposition as you have no evidence to support it. He could be entirely innocent and you could unwittingly damage their reputation through making assumtions.

  9. You mean like we did before armor/archery nerfs and spell changes were added that we specifically said were bad and we didn't want? Yeah...

Well at least then you can point your fingers back at the relevant thread and say 'well we did say...'. I'd also suggest that given the lenth of time bridges have been on test, and the amount of bug processing going on, it's seems to be a pretty concerted effort to make the release as bug free as possible whereas if I remember correctly, the things you mentioned weren't on for very long before being added to live if indeed they were on test beforehand at all.

  10. For the first part of that statement I can only say that english isn't my native tongue and that I often just dont know  the exact terms so i can be absolutely precise in what i WANT to say...so thats probably my fault to some degree.

But you seem to be very familar with what formerly happened (that Gnomegates incident and the stuff was done to the alliance that I'm a member of) so you would prbably be able to tell us players IF that...individual has been "convicted" or if it has "only" been reported. Because your statement sounds as if he has NOT been convicted to me.

What do you think whose fault it is if the police catches someone stealing and IF he is indeed convicted by the jurisdiction, but yet they dont arrest him or whatever they could have done to avoid that he will do exactly that again. Whose fault is it then ? Whom would YOU, in this special case, hold responsible ?

Edit: And if, for some reason, your justification is, that the laws simply havent been elaborate enough....well then...whose responsibility is that ? and shouldnt tose laws in question have been readjusted accordingly, so that whatever injustice has been happening before cant happen again ?

But as we both know THAT certainly will NEVER ever happen, right ?

For the first part what you said made sense, I was just pointing out that just because someone files a report, doesn't mean that person has done something wrong. As for bringing in the knarr incident etc, you're the one who used police examples before, I wasn't talking about any particular incident in Wurm. Since you bring it up though, yes, I am somewhat familiar with both the cases you refer to - it was me that issued the first warning.

For the latter part, you seem to be assuming that players we catch breaking rules don't get punished. That's an incorrect assumption. Just like RL, punishments escalate with repetition, we don't often start with the maximum penalty, just like a first theft case in RL won't net you life imprisonment. That doesn't stop people being repeat offenders in RL too - THAT is up to the individual involved, NOT the police. The police just have to try and control matters, rehabilitate where possible, and cut out what can't be saved when it's completely clear that's the case.

     That sounds so lonely :(

It's not so bad, I use IRC chat rooms in game to stay in touch with various groups, and as staff I have a myriad of other concerns to occupy my time. I'm also a hermit in game, so prefer peace and quiet on the whole :)

Way to represent the GM team there.  Guy's already been busted and even took GM directive to return the silver.

Some disciplinary action THAT time with full evidence in hand, he was gleefully on the WTS a couple of days later.

    As for Code Club management...

If we're supposed to go on full lockdown, fence our deeds off, and never leave with anything beyond newbie gear.. may as well buy that LiF bundle where I can run my 2x2km server.

You're making considerable assumptions about the entirety of punishments dealt out. Incidentally, if someone in RL took something, was then forced to pay for it and served a punishment for the crime; would you say they're not then entitled to sell the item on later? Of course they would, it's theirs legitimately by then and they can post it for sale if they like.

The GM team isn't here to hand out the death sentence to every crime for a first offence. There are very few things we ban for straight off the bat. We first try and get the player to understand the spirit of the game and give them a chance to change and become a valued member of the community. Players who don't learn fast, find they're not welcome pretty fast.

  11. On a related note, I can't wait for the permissions overhaul that's supposedly in the works. I keep my friends list very small for this reason.

LIkewise, and it's why I'm not in any alliances.

  12. What if the police got some theft report about the same person for the second time...and they even proved that that particular person violated the law...and yet they would do nothing (but return the stolen items to the owner) and nothing else but that? Would you approve of that as well ?

What if the police punished that person for the first law breaking and need to gather evidence for subsequent events? the fact that it happened again is the fault of the police?

There's also a difference between a theft report and a conviction for law breaking.
