For som reason I already follow him since some time back :)❤️

I believe I shared it in GL-Freedom 3 to 6 months ago when a discussion turned to dogs, I'm pretty sure you were online at the time :)

Also, this is my 12345th post!

  2. Why do Finns posts here appear as the bottom sliver of the Wurm forum background to me?

Also, this is my dog Big Ted (a Black Russian Terrier). He has an instagram that my wife does called @bigtedsays if you want to see more of him.

  3. So I live quite rurally and we had a big storm on 18th July that knackered the roads in my area. I live 40km along a road that doesn't have another way in (by road). It's still impassable 2 months later though the work crews have managed to start working on the far end of it.

Anyway, the only way in or out for the time being is by boat, and you can even get cars in and out on a barge service. However, there's not really solid infrastructure around for the barges (this is the first time in at least 20 years the road has been closed for more than a week). To provide a sound landing point for heavy plant etc from the barge at our end of the water-way, they did the most Wurm thing I can think of - dropping dirt to build a wharf...

Was your grandfather still around then Hordern? I can imagine him narrating that lol. The Golden Age of Wild and you were about the same skill as me going from this but I was JK. Wow I miss those days. At least Chaos is still there though in some form.

Noooo, he died in the early/mid 90's I believe.

  5. 50 second mining timers, 45 minute smelting timers, then someone ran off with my just heated 2kg of glowing iron that was to be my first small anvil... This was back on Golden Valley when the tutorial was an NPC who gave out about 4 'missions'.

Oh, and the fact that if you failed when trying to create a tool you didn't just damage the two bits, one piece would be destroyed and the other would turn in to scrap material. Couple that with 'unfinished' items meaning you often needed a whetstone to sharpen a stone chisel, or a mallet to make a mallet... This particular piece of fun changed when Rolf tried playing the game and fully understood the horror ;)

The side shaft should not be a coding issue - as you can easily create that setup with collapsing a tile (where you end up with two blind tunnel parts where they only share a common corner).

I believe the trouble is when you're trying to mine the tile that would then result in this configuration. The game is trying to create a cave roof value and a cave floor value for a tile corner that already has them, but doesn't have another boundary corner with that same tile to work out slopes with (not that I'm a coder, this is speculation from my experience with mining). When you're collapsing a tile to create this configuration the game knows that corner has just the one floor and roof value. I do get really frustrated with tunnel collapses that result in this impasse though, because I know the tunnel works, because it used to be there >.<

I've seen what this issue looks like when I created a bugged tunnel entrance a few years ago. It was not pretty and was not fixable by a player who didn't have a shaker orb/priest with Strongwall plus a sculpting wand handy (and would have cost a LOT in charges...).

No.  You can sell whole containers of liquids, or whole meals, but nothing on a serving by serving basis that would allow for something like a tavern to be created. Add the possibility of selling food on a per serving basis and you could set up a functioning village tavern of sorts.

Well flasks don't hold very much but what you say makes sense :)

  8. Evening all.

I've been absent from Wurm for about 6 months and I had thought that my deed had upkeep until October or November. Rather sad to log in last night and find the deed gone and all the buildings decayed. It is what it is but thought I'd post here just in case some nice person had noticed it disband and saved some of my stuff in case I came back (I know it's a long shot but I have seen people advertise such in the forums in the past!). The deed was Cowshark Cove in ... I don't recall the grid coordinate but West of Loremere and NE of Newspring.

In other news - anyone looking for a very part-time villager? I can offer, well, not that much because I'm not playing much.

    Cheers

This does in fact happen on wurm online; my mom and I discovered it/figured it out back in 2014 and whenever I mentioned it I was usually considered crazy.  We call it the crop bird :P

Just because you're right doesn't mean you're not crazy ;)

  10. It was indeed a WU server but I wasn't sure if it was something that worked for both. I wasn't sure if WO fields are individual, or if there are regular ticks throughout the day at which point a tended field has a chance to become untended, in which case chirps in WO could also alert people to the potential for farming though not a guarantee. If the latter this could easily have been missed in WO due to the fact that it would be more common and thus easier to ignore, and not linked to whole sets of fields becoming untended at once. I don't even know if it ever appears in WO because I play both and I can't remember if I ever heard the noise pre-WU

  11. Soooo... I apologise if this is common knowledge but I don't believe I've ever seen this mentioned anywhere.

I happened to be looking at some fields (meditating) when I had the really loud bird cheep sound and I noticed that all the fields grew a stage and went untended at that moment. Is this sound file an audio cue to let us know that the fields have 'ticked'? Has anyone noticed this before? Was it coincidence? I find the latter hard to believe because it's such a shrill noise compared to the usual background bird tweeting, so it must mean something.

  12. Out of interest, do people find using a different browser helping with some things at all? I found Mozilla caused all of my PM's to lag for about 30 seconds while posting was fine. I've had a bit of lag on posting a couple of times with Chrome, but the PM's are working perfectly...
