    Hello Wurmians, and welcome to another issue of the Valrei International! It’s that wonderful time of year that many of us look forward to… the release of the new Map Dumps! It’s always interesting to see how the servers have changed throughout the year, and these ones will be even more fun, being the first dump since we released the original maps for the Northern Isles last year and the first to show all of the terraforming and progress you have all made on those servers since their creation. We plan to do a lot of QoL stuff and bug fixing this year, as well as finalizing our work on Goblin Camps for Exploration Part Two! You can check out the post below: And speaking of Exploration Part Two…. Holy Sites will be going live on March 7th! We want to thank you all for the feedback you’ve given us during testing of Holy Sites, and we are ready to go live with them! Prepare your priests and followers for wonderful adventures and pilgrimages to these sacred places, and reap the benefits each deity provides for each kind of site. A Colourful New Way to Cozy Up Your Place! Coming soon, we will be adding a long-awaited and frequently requested feature; the ability to dye colourful carpets! You’ll be able to customize all sizes of colourful carpets, with two colour zones to get just the right combination of colours to fit your aesthetic. Carpets freshly made will resemble the default colours we have always had, and will need to have that colour removed to become lovely new white carpets that can be dyed any colour you like. Skin it up! Starting later in March, we will start making skins from previous months available on a rotating basis. Details are still being finalized on this and will be posted separately. Pvp Changes and PMK Introductions to Defiance Along with Holy Sites, we will be introducing Player Made Kingdoms to Defiance on the same date. We have also laid out some other proposed changes for PvP that we would love everyone's feedback on.     With the launch of Holy Sites next week(Match 7th) we will be bringing PMK's to defiance, we decided to move to the layout suggested by people here and the below image will be roughly where PMK's will be blocked from expanding or founding. We will be allowing conversion of existing deeds that the PMK was not founded on by having the entire village in the new kingdoms influence and asking them to join. Along with these changes there is a few other changes we would like to make going forward but are unlikely to all make it before the PMK launch. Reworking the PvP reputation system, its currently in a pretty broken state not just on defiance but on other server will be looking to clean this up and getting it functioning everywhere properly. MR/JK starter islands will have much stricter rules for what will give reputation then outside of the starter areas. HOTS kingdom will remain without a reputation system period as on other server. Return HOTA to be alliance based again instead of kingdom based. Changes to the king challenge system for base kingdoms to make them doable in more reasonable time frames. Changes to becoming king of a base kingdom to keep them open while allowing people to challenge them, such as only allowing it during certain times of the wurm month similar to artifact recharges and announcing inside your own kingdom when people are attempting the king trial. Discussion of penalties for living on the starter island, we currently offer a lot of protection for living on them but we really never added any negative sides to balance that out. Would love to see peoples suggestions on things they think would make sense here.

    I created differential images of all map dumps that have a 2022 and 2023 version. If a pixel changed since the last map dump it'll show up with its new value.     another defiance change thread lost to KvK 😿 starter islands with their 2h raid windows are a super abusable mistake but if you add penalties for them people will just play on freedom instead. you're already penalized by being on a pvp server and having to take precautions for everything (and that includes being on the winning side too) making it worse won't help, incentives to be off the starter islands is better. reputation system never had a place on a pvp server and it still doesn't. there's already a system for this, if someone is causing harm to your kingdom you kill them. years of the current reputation system doing absolutely nothing to stop inter-kingdom pvp, creating unnecessary GM work and actively breaking pvp occasionally should have shown this lol all in all just seems like ignoring the root of problems and doing the most barebone changes to look like there's something happening. guess i'll go dig tar while playing other games with my ex-pvp friends for another two years and hope there's an actual change in the 2025 pvp update (singular)

    a character merge from SFI to defiance via portal would probably help solve the issues that are arising, with the great experience and leadership that panda and kj would provide, paired with the exceptional news reports coming from capibara the server would be in a much healthier state

    Items that are hot enough to be smelted in a smelting pot should be described as "glowing brightly" rather than just glowing. This will make life a lot easier for those using the pot, and those in the help channel.

    I'm very disappointed the devs don't understand anything about maintaining a pvp server or community. The suggestions made here, to drive people off starter, are about victimizing them to give a small group of veterans more pvp gameplay. Thats not how to grow a healthy pvp community. There already are penalties for starter deeds, most people wouldn't be on starter if there wasn't this massive power imbalance. The starter protection is used to offset the existing power imbalance. Just look back at the first year when all kingdoms were having plenty deeds off starter, before the power imbalance started driving people off and back onto starter. If you want a continuously working pvp server you have to rebalance and break the power imbalance, not reenforce it. You have to make it possible for new people that are coming to the server actually making kills. The way its currently balanced just is channeling ever more power to a small group of veterans. Newcomers die a few times and go away. Its a toxic system, the result is a dead server.

    The important thing to bear in mind with discouraging living on starter is that it is currently only good because of the additional security when you are pushed back. To put this in context HoTS were pushed back to starter last year and then JK successfully raided our capital on starter. Living on starter is much less fun as it is, and we already have to roam off starter for hunting and hota/depots, I personally feel that the goal should be to add more reasons to venture off starter, like holy sites, and naturally deeds will get founded off starter. Capping ore and other materials on starter could add an additional requirement to move around the map to get more ore, I'm also not opposed to increasing deed costs on starter due to the security given. In my mind weakening starter would just make it easier to finish off a kingdom when they are already down.

    So disadvantage the groups already trying to fight an uphill battle? Man, just make a pve portal if thats what you want to play.

    the full loot system only works if you can easily remake gear within seconds. now I'll compare this game to mortal online. which is a very successful pvp game that is full loot as well. It literally takes me 15 seconds to remake a whole steel gear set and weapons at perfect ql. in wurm, for me to have a set of armor that is actually good. can take me 3 hours if I want to max it out at 90ql. it takes more time in a game like mortal to gather the resources to make that set of armor. full loot in wurm vs the time it takes to make a set of gear just doesn't make sense fully. So I think what he means is basically not allowing someone who can basically wreck a whole kingdom while only getting a scratch. Now yes, some people bust their asses off to get where they are now. But they still shouldn't be able to take on more than 2 people on their own basically whilst barely dropping below 50% health.

    I think we should discuss penalties to pmks. Since you get the added benefit of not having to worry about enemies transfering alts in to your kingdom… pmks get double cost to form, drop deeds and upkeep. Pmks should prob not have any titles but cosmetic ones. Towers should decay 5x faster. Should stop chain winning of hotas/roaming so a pmk can’t win twice in a row. Pmks should simply not have raid windows. If the whole idea for jk to post in any of these threads is simply to give them self more advantages we will soon have ideas passed where they get global casts that perma death accounts and meteorite strike deeds.

    This would be a good suggestions if people actually wore the good gear that they have! Why allow people to create throw away gear so easily when it is hard enough to retrieve good stolen gear. I know of at least 2 drake sets and 1 scale set in HoTS. At least 2 Drake sets and 1 scale set in your group and I have never seen anyone wear them. What’s point having good gear if your not gonna wear it and just want to be able to mass create throw away gear and use it as an excuse?

    yes, having 3 deeds setup in a triangle with tunnels between all using the same 2 hour raid window isn't a benefit to anyone. one deed gets drained you move everything to the next one underground. an impenetrable system meanwhile gaining all of the benefits of non starter deeds but lets get down to the real issue: people living on starter island out of choice yet still getting the same benefits that those who don't live on starter get 1. chests spawning on starters need to be removed 2. depots shouldn't spawn anywhere near a starter island 3. hota shouldn't spawn anywhere near a starter island these 3 things don't directly negatively affect those that the starter island should be geared towards and thats newer players imo

    who cares if the highway system is disabled on pvp, imping catseyes is a great way to work on paving, why is it restricted to freedom only?

    Gofs / Torkel, is a very known PvP player, with 1000's of WU/PvP play time. I highly recommand this server for PvP players !! And good luck @Gofs!!

    Would like to just leash them without having to tame them so we could take them with us and they don't get attacked. But it's another thing to breed for and sell.

    I'm also pretty sure /who runs when you log in, it also shows in the loading bar right before you log in. I can't think of how much more obvious to make it.

    Already got "few" hard moments about balance. For this moment, class = priest hood (without of being priest - you cant skill up fight skills, only PvE skills). So after you became priest, you getting your penalties, that will be pretty uncommon, as you will still able to improve, dig, mine, woodcut, but! If you choose "Mage God" to follow, then you will not able to skill up shields archery and melee weapons more then +2. But all good all spells are pretty deadly. New spell damage formula will be : Fixed Damage + Damage per Channeling skill (so more Channeling = more damage) I also removed all "spamming skills" like bless, dispel from mage classes, so only way will be to hit enemy targets for skill gain. (most of this already done) Next step = I dont wanna see "plate priests", who will remove plate, to cast spell, and then equip it back. So i might will put timer 0.5 sec to equip a single item = 4.5 seconds to equip full set. And yeah I increased difficulty of all battle spells, so +30% on the cloth armor will be very palpable + to cast will need to hold holy item. So as for me we got fair mage, who can kill and can be killed with arrows for example. About Archer, Warrior and Enchanter classes will write a bit later, but main thing, that I totally removing sorcery, so no tomes in game. But most of this skills will be assigned to some classes, like for example Hawkeye will have Heavy Arrow skill, that basicly going to work like Active part of True Strike, so archer will able to shoot very hard. Right now i trying to set hp of Unqiues, so they will get fair amount of damage from arrows and sorcery.

    Sanctions on players do get reviewed, and can generally be appealed. Sometimes, this process results in a reduction or downgrading of an applied sanction. When taking such a decision, the team take into account all evidence before them, including much that is not public. Per Enki's post (linked above), if you have evidence of poor behaviour, bring it to the GM team, and it will be reviewed. Nothing has changed regarding what is or is not acceptable under the rules, and evidence is required to be able to make good calls. This thread started as a request for information, but has quickly descended into rumour-mongering, straw-man speculation, and KvK posting, none of which has a place here.

    Welcome back to the game FF guys! I think we were all going through massive withdrawal when we weren't getting new FF videos! We all look forward to them so much! As for how to solve the "coming back" problem that they discuss in the video, I do agree that the stats idea is a great one. It makes sense immersion-wise as well. If you've worked your butt off in the game, your brain will be sharper and your body will be stronger, however you might have forgotten "how" to do things. Giving something like 24 hrs premium game time would also be good. As for losing your deed, how about logging on to find a 1) treasure map in your backpack that when "used" opens a zoomed in location of the map with a pin on it 2) a newbie shovel 3) a newbie rope for catching a mount. By going to that location, you get a message of a buried stash being near. It could work like water divining, but with a much larger tile area to use. Upon finding the target area (sized around 10x10 tiles) you could use the shovel to "unearth your lost belongings" and you could dig up a stash chest of things you had in your deed, perhaps some enchanted tools, or some raw materials salvaged from the ruins. You could carry this chest for the next 24 hrs of gameplay without cost to weight and as long as the items were kept "packed" in the chest, also without cost to inventory size restrictions. This would give you enough time to find a new place to settle and you'd have some tools and raw materials to get freshly started.
