Been gone for a long time, thinking about coming back. You know what we used to say, you never quit Wurm, you just take long breaks. Somebody give me the cliff notes on the state of the game in 2023, please. Can you still feasibly make enough silver in game to pay for premium? What's the current server layout/population dispersion look like? I hear there's been a crackdown on RMT, does that mean I won't be able to buy an account to start playing again? Tell me everything I need to know. Convince me it's worth coming back.

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but it would be cool.

Ability to use bank funds when interacting with a Merchant. Basically being able to click a button called Use bank funds in the drag the coins window or have a right click option on the Merchant's menu called: buy with bank funds.

I remember you from the forums back in the day! Welcome back! So I stopped playing in 2016 but came back in 2022, I got the same itch for Wurm and have been really enjoying the current game. So Wurm's population is smaller than it once was, but it's still stable, and the game is seeing active development, probably at the fastest pace in a few years. We're still a little overdue on it all coming out, but the exploration updates of the last year or so have given us treasure maps, cartography, and soon hopefully holy sites and goblin camps. The game looks and feels similar to how it did in 2015, but with some key changes: some areas of the graphics (like the sun, night sky, and volumetric fog) are noticeably much prettier; various features (like cooking, fishing) got overhauled and have much more depth; and after the Steam release in 2020, new servers were opened that are still separate to the old Freedom servers. There has also been brand new stuff like Archaeology, which I really love as a feature as it feels very Wurm-like while adding a lot of cool items, as well as smaller new things like runes, new wall types, new containers, donkeys, new wood types, underground houses, underground paving, highways, and probably loads more that I've missed. Overall I think the game is in a surprisingly good place; I didn't think it would still be around by now, let alone with ~700 players online on the busiest days. I think at the very least that Wurm has many years left in it, although it probably needs to see big QoL changes to keep attracting new players and stay alive. Quickfire answers: 1. Yes, especially from selling bulk mats. 5k bricks will get you premium. Rares are also a good moneymaker. 2. The Northern Freedom Isles (added with the steam release) have four servers, Cadence, Harmony, Melody, and Defiance (PvP), and most of the playerbase is up there. However, there are also plenty of players on the old SFI servers, including some newbies, so really either is a good pick. It will take less time to catch up with other players on NFI as the servers have been open for much less, although on SFI, prices are cheaper so you could get better skilling gear for less. Epic is pretty dead and has been for a while, sadly. 3. Yes, RMT had to be banned as a part of the Steam release. However, with food affinities, caffeine, and the crazy amount of game knowledge people have learnt in the past few years or datamined from WU, grinding is *much* faster than it was in the past, so it will be a lot quicker to catch up than it was before. I've found it quite a bit easier to grind now compared to when I played before, simply because I have access to better gear, more bonuses, and more knowledge. Overall, it's your choice if the above sounds good enough to come back; but really, I'd recommend picking a server, finding a good alliance to help you get on your feet, and jumping into the game to give it a try for yourself. I did that last April after a 6 year break, and I'm still here playing!

As it currently is, the 100 item limit is pretty limiting, especially if you don't keep everything in containers, or you're doing things like crafting items that produce scrap on the side or fileting meat or crafting multipart items, your inventory fills up pretty quickly. I'd suggest one of the following. 1. Make Item groups not count towards the item limit similar to containers do 2. Increase the Max items to some arbitrary number you decides good 3. Make it based on mind logic x 5 or something (rounding up newbies to 20 ofc so they stay at 100 items), so that as you get more skill you get more items, makes sense really

so idk if this one was alrdy mentioned but by a fireplace would b kinda neat to have a thingy to store firewood/kindling in plus it would make a nice decorative and immersive piece for the fireplaces. could be made out of lots of metals etc. rare ones could hold more firewood, kindling etc, maybe reduced decay of items inside or no decay at all.

Just an update, I have added more alts to the circle and am going to try and leave them all logged in 24/7 so even when rapty and I aren't online there should still be enough valid listeners for the sermon group to continue doing sermons

I wouldn't worry too much, as the rules around macros are repeated actions on a loop or timer, as opposed to repeated clicking. as long as you're playing, you're fine

Hello all, Today’s post topic is regarding bugs and exploits. What is a bug? A bug is a small bit of code scurrying around in the system doing something we did not intend. A lot like a roach or cricket crawling around in the shadows in your kitchen. You don’t really know what it gets up to until your party guests are lying on the floor in need of a doctor. It’s no secret that bugs exist within Wurm Online, but our focus going into 2023 will be to address them as we can. An exploit however, is when a bug can provide a material gain or an advantage in skill or ability beyond what is intended. It’s not always easy to determine a bug or an exploit, but when your gains vastly outweigh the effort, you can be sure that you’ve found something unintended. If you choose to use a bug for whatever gain it may provide, then you are elevating the bug to an exploit and you are cheating. Normal bugs should be reported on the forum so that we are aware of them, but exploits or more sensitive bugs can be reported by placing a support ticket in-game. You can access this by typing /support or pressing Escape, then finding Support under the Tools menu. If you are unable to put the report into a support ticket in-game, then you may send the information to us by email via support@wurmonline.com, or by contacting Pomona via forum PM, or her work email pomona@wurmonline.com These are the official methods for reporting bugs and exploits that will be considered for potential rewards. These exploits will be reviewed for severity, and a reward may be offered to the player who first mentioned it. Please keep in mind that making the details of exploits public will exclude you from the rewards mentioned above. You will also be subject to moderation as per the rules as we do not want the exploits to proliferate while we correct them. We are strict about abusing exploits and will take action against the accounts in question, up to and including permanently banning the account. As part of running the game, we log quite a bit of data and can often use statistics to prove who may have been exploiting a bug. This means that we will take action appropriate for the offence. Wurm Online needs honest people to let us know when things seem wrong. Abusing exploits can have an impact on many areas of the game. It’s up to all of us to keep things fair and help fix the problems in the game. Do not assume that we are all knowing and automatically see everything and will magically come fix it. We rely on you to alert us to most bugs that we have not caught in testing and to alert us to anyone exploiting any bugs. Finally, when we penalise someone for exploiting a bug, we will always reserve the right to review the severity of that exploit and the severity of the punishment. Don’t complain after the fact, when someone you have an issue with is actively playing again because you knew something about them and did not bother to report them to us. If you see something, say something. All reports are confidential and we always investigate. We are here to help, so make use of us and report bugs and possible exploits to us so we can continue to improve Wurm Online. Thanks for reading, and happy Wurming!

I recently started a new deed on Xanadu and my current one is on celebration.I don't really see the harm of deed owners having a port that can take them to their deeds on different servers with limitations. If you port, you can only use the portal if you're inventory is under 14kg and you're naked,no weapon either. If you want to move stuff you still have to do it by boat. This would make it easier to maintain multiple deeds on different servers.I don't really see the harm.We have portals to epic...

Long time no see! I'm forever taking year-long breaks, so tons of stuff still feels "new" to me. Things I don't see mentioned above: Buildings can be constructed underground in caves. You can farm underground using Large Planters. Tar and clay can be created in a spot of your choice, via a craftable Transmutation Liquid. Fishing was overhauled to be more interactive and complex. (OK, this was mentioned) Lots of new horse colours, and bred animal traits. Libila religion on Freedom.

One of my pregnant horse died about 2 weeks ago. Mature, branded, 1x1 tile pen with enchanted grass. Cursor over body didn't say cause of death. ###### etc happens in wurm. Sorry for your loss Katy, i totally understand you want some reason for what happened to your horse.

A thing i liked to point was exactly this: the game mechanics were put in place like they were, because deeding was intended NOT as to just have a private property over server, but to have a community in there, and that's why we can add people to deeds, have a form of governance, why we in the past had upkeep a lot higher than it is, altars that will push up deed characteristics in exchange of some labour, wich is a lot easier when in a community (and provides constant nice bonuses, even if most of them except rare window are totally left behind). Beign in a village deed, in a community, maybe with a smaller deed than some people do nowadays (some people in my server have over 8s monthly upkeep, and some have deeds larger than 100x100...), will surely remove any chance that even if your possibility to play is hindered for long times. If we should learn a lesson from this discussion, is that people do not really understand Wurm mechanics, but surely they want them to work like they like.

There's 0.01% chance of this ever making its way into Wurm, but imagine being able to use coffee or Kahvesi in a recipe! Tiramisu usually calls for eggs, sugar, heavy cream, sweet cheese, espresso, rum, Frangelico (a liquor), lady fingers, and cocoa - all of which we can now replicate in Wurm. It's such a divine dessert. Come on, devs!

im not a looter either so this dont really effect me mutch, also live on deed with a friend so the chances for both of us having an unexppected life crisis is really slim, but reading through this thread i feel like it was angle the way that the looters play the "wrong way", so i dont agree that this looked just like a friendly advice and more like trying to change how people play. Thats why i think people acting up. I also dont see that this is a big issue really, i dont believe we have lost many players due to real life crisis that would make them unable to log in at all, some may use this as an excuse, yes. Some may have quit and logged on to see they have to start over, yes. doesnt mean it hasnt happen tho, but its no chance to seperate them from the quiters. Try to contact the owner? yeah i got no problem with that, but how and for how long? until other has been able to loot it? if someone are really unable to log in, what are the chances they will be reading the wurm forum? None of this means that looters dont care or are unemotional about it all. well some people dont care about skilling and all the other stuff, they want to build and that sometimes require some space, not been able to afford it and not been able to pay 2-3 years of upkeep upfront is 2 different things. Playing in an online world, everyone has something others do that they dont like, but its just something you gotta deal with. But at the end of the day, the game mechanic and the rules are clear regarding this, and i dont see it change anytime soon, we can hope for a easier way to follow and add deed upkeep, also when we are offline.

Oh, I think I remember the moon lander! I remember a basic graphics one, too (about as fancy as Asteroids). <sigh> Consider Steam. Then consider the era when games (and other programmes, but who didn't get some games) were listed in a newsprint catalog; text descriptions only, in multi-column tiny print format, with an order form on the back (or in the centre leaf if you were fortunate). Fill it in, mail it back with payment, get floppy disks in the mail with your shareware on them. I still have an index file full of those disks - and not a single machine with a drive that takes them.

Well how would it render sailing useless if you can only teleport to your deed with hardly anything. You would still have to sail to places especially to move stuff and to explore.I'm not suggesting you should be able to teleport to any deed just to the ones you're the mayor of.If you wanted to go to a friends deed, you'd still have to travel there

Very curious how the balance is going to work as this will require people to work together for sure as by reading the classes classes wont be allowed to do everything..? It also seems like quite a bit and the balance will be very difficult to achieve. I will definitely keep an eye on this!

The reality is that people already just make altars in the world where they need them. With decent skill, the effort to make a new altar is very trivial. Allowing altars to be loaded in a cart would only declutter the insane number of altars already placed around the world. +1

Absolutely love the idea. My only addition would be to make the heraldic banners look a bit different in appearance than the current banner. Some slight variation, or perhaps a slightly smaller banner that is flat at the bottom. This would help distinguish between the PMK banners and the heraldic banners. Also - and I am just musing here - each deed could have one heraldic banner design, which is controlled at the token. This design could be changed, but by keeping one heraldic banner per deed we wouldn't populate the world with too many random flags and the banner would actually mean something, as it would represent the deed. Finally, because approving banner designs would consume too much developer time - perhaps the best idea would be to create a number of symbols that players could chose from at initial design creation (basically what Karrde suggested). This list could be always expanded as we go, and the symbols would appear over Nirav's background ideas, as he presented before. Again, love the idea. +1

One of the funniest things that happened to me, was a player came to my deed and told me quite plainly that he would like to loot my deed as there were a few things he was after. These good humoured exchanges aren't meant to upset anyone, and only serve as a reminder to keep my upkeep topped up.

Sad. As I wrote before, I don't really care either way, so I am not taking side on the argument itself. But what does bug me is, that all OP did was asking for people to look for a kind corner in their hearts, there was no demanding, no telling anyone how to play, it was a mere request to those who may never bothered to think that far. And what do we get? The ugly side of the community showing up in the most rude way possible. The playbase is already slim enough as is, all you guys do by acting like that is driving people away who may read this and the sad part about it? For you guys that still is a win, someone leaves? Yey more loot for you! Someone stopps getting invested into the game? They probably would have never gathered enough wealth to be a worthy raid target anyhow. There is debating and making a point and then there is just being a douche about it. At least keep things classy if you feel you need to make a point, but calling names or trying to play psychologist and telling people they are wrong in their head is not the way.

The first ever? First ever virtual world would have been Adventureland played on a TRS-80 in 3rd grade in the late 70s. The teacher asked me to type in the actions that the class agreed upon and it was like a switch was flipped in my brain. Eventually everyone else all went out to recess and I stayed inside the entire time to continue exploring that world. First ever MMO would have been HeroMUD in the late 80s - but once Everquest appeared in the early 90s I was utterly hooked, especially since it was a MUD writ large with graphics. Now I have to go lie down and I would ask that all y'all stay off my lawn while I fan myself and recover from having confessed this. 👵
