If you're like me, you have a few woodscraps lying around. But how can I use them besides mass quantities of alcohol, piles of kindling, and a library worth of low quality paper? We need a really big item sink for this wondrous resource. I suggest a wooden effigy as a new mission item. Must be built off deed in a flattened 2x2 area. The finished structure appears as a smaller wooden version of the colossi, burns for 3 days, and produces ash and charcoal. Mission is considered complete when the effigy is lit, and those who participated in construction will get credit toward the mission. Requirements: 30 Faith 25 Carpentry Materials: 750 woodscraps (1.5kgs each) 50 hay 150 mixed grass 1 kindling

I think it's also missing the point a little to focus on the most OP accounts on SFI. Very, very few people have played for even 10 years solidly, and the Wurmnode stats skew towards only showing a handful of the most hardcore players who have played the most, know about Wurmnode and are likely to upload there. While it's true that merging would add a few more very strong accounts to Defiance, there are also plenty of less strong (weak?) players ready to jump in who would get added. I used to PvP back on Chaos between 2013 and 2015, my account was mediocre back then and is even more mediocre by modern Defiance/Chaos standards, with 76 FS and less than 50 in body stats. But also, I really miss active PvP communities and would jump back in if Defiance was opened up to SFI and active. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't buy the myth that SFI is some terrifying hoarde of incredibly strong accounts who would instantly dominate Defiance as soon as the merge finally happens. Most of the currently active SFI players have pretty run of the mill accounts, especially now that NFI accounts can be upto almost 3 years old (and in the time of caffeine, food affinities and much better grinding knowledge, meaning people skill up way, way faster than we did back in ye olden days.) In fact, in my own alliance here on Indy, almost all of the currently active players have only been playing for a few months/years, not 17 years of solid grinding as you claim. tl;dr used to PvP, I miss it, please can we have a single good community again

got an example of any of them come anywhere close to caffeine with double fatigue that nfi has? 50 lp was doable in a day with caffeine too out of that entire list the only purchased accs in it that pvp (barely) are xrumx and dridmar, and i guess silakka if you ignore the fact that if i grinded a new acc itd be #2 instead of #1, most of the bought accs never grinded and barely hit the average on nfi. that'd be something the devs would have to check the numbers on, and characteristics balancing needing some work would be the same on either cluster as there's more active 75+ str toons on defiance than there is on chaos lol
  4. 4 points
lets go with your scenario and pretend that accounts coming from sfi would raise the bar or whatever even though they are at every statistical disadvantage for grinding compared to defiance/nfi. if accounts that were more developed made that much of a difference why is your 90 body strength toon sitting on the starter island unable to be played on defiance?
  5. 4 points
could we get character transfers from sfi as well at least. i know like 40 people from sfi that would love to play on defiance as well but wont regrind, understandably

Hello fellow Wurmians, Virusmd and I had an idea ....and we are looking for YOUR input! We are both chess enthusiasts of a sort, and (as some of you may remember) Virusmd's Pristine Friendalong was the very first impalong to feature Chess! @Docterchesewill certainly remember Since the impalong, Virus and I have continued duking it out over a chessboard on a weekly basis. .. . which has been especially exciting of late, as I have finally honed my skills enough to challenge his level! And we had the thought that perhaps it would be an even better exercise to include other Wurmian chess players, to spread the fun around and challenge ourselves even more! SOOOOOOO - is there anyone out there who would be interested in a Wurm Chess Club?? (Anyone who at least knows the basics of chess could take part) If you are interested - would you be willing to travel to Pristine for a chess meet? Monthly? Bi-monthly? ** yes we eagerly hope for the chess boards to be "fixed" but for now we are making the best of it!**

In many walks of life, a veteran would be someone who has a lot of experience in a skill. In Wurm, I would suggest the term could apply to someone who not only has played regularly for many years (I think many folk would accept 10 years) but is also knowledgeable and can demonstrate this in-game. An example of this could be a person who has played for a long time but also explains things and helps others through chat or in-game. There are obvious examples of this seen every day in the help channels when the same names can be seen aiding less expert players. These to me are the real veterans and not someone like me who has played for the 10 years but is not expert enough to be seen regularly helping people- one day perhaps!

Make it where players can add a small note or nickname for friends listed in the friends tab. I have friends that I have friended for specific purposes (like imping weapons, affinity food, dyer, fo priest, mag priest, runer, etc). It would be nice if I can annotate a small note on that tab that would allow me to keep it straight who does what. I love the work you guys do! Keep it up!

10+ years, regardless of skill (I may only be saying this because I've been playing over a decade, but my skills still suck.)
  11. 2 points
I want PvP to be approachable for people, but it's a fine line. One of the places Wurm really shines is rewarding you for getting your skills up; most skills have more than 1 benefit to gaining levels. If I spent the unholy amount of time required to get to 90 body strength, I'd be super upset if I didn't have a pretty steep advantage over someone with 50. It's more than twice the time spent. If you're too harsh taking away the rewards for playing the game, you take away most of the point of playing.

Defiance already nixed the actual gamebreaking things like meditation paths, salves, and tomes. The skillgap isn't great enough to justify keeping the populations separate anymore. Public uploads from mostly Freedom accounts doesn't prove anything. I never played SFI, I don't love grinding, and I'm still not worried about beefy SFI characters coming to play with us. The more the merrier!
  15. 2 points
Again you have no point. Anyone playing PvP knows most PvPers don't upload their skills publicly. You can't compare the publicly uploaded accounts from SFI and NFI and draw PvP conclusions from it. Notice you're not on there yourself? Over 20 active people and only 3 have uploaded.

for the first 24 hrs with noob buff give them the ability to TP to the starter towns.(outside of combat ofc). when the noobie buff goes away the new player will have to travel from that point on, on foot. Also it will allow people to group up more easily if someone mistakenly goes to a different start town.

Wurm has horrific player retention. On Steam, just 13% of new players complete the tutorial - 87% (!!!) quit before then or skip it. A better measure of staying in the game is joining a village - only 3% of new players join a village, of which some of those will be alts of existing players - so Wurm retains maybe fewer than 3% of people who try the game. Old School Runescape (OSRS) is a good point of comparison, it's an old and relatively intricate MMO a bit like Wurm - 60% of OSRS players complete the tutorial, and 32% complete the "Cook's assistant" quest (i.e. manage at least a few hours of gameplay). 16% complete the much harder Dragon Slayer quest (which requires 10-20 hours of work, easily, and not everyone does it.) Wurm's new player retention is terrible, including when compared to other games. Let's put it another way: More than 97% of people who think this game is worth trying get scared away within the first few hours of gameplay. This is at least 5-10x worse than comparable MMOs like Old School Runescape. Wurm maybe has 1k to 2k premium players right now, but it will not survive long-term without getting new players through the doors by improving new player retention. Not only will new players keep Wurm alive, it's also great for the game in many ways, like: More funds to pay more developers A better in-game economy Larger, more exciting events In summary: As a long-time player, I think improving the new player experience is essential. More new players = Wurm survives (and thrives) for longer, and that benefits everyone. I miss ~10 years ago when Wurm routinely had ~2k players logged on at once, it was so much more exciting.

Fo/Libila spells to enchant unicorns/hell horses to be passive and hitchable/rideable while untamed. In reality I'm just bored to death on Epic and I want to make use of my absolutely useless unicorn farm.

veteran noun A person who has served in the armed forces. An old soldier who has seen long service. A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity. Generally, we are the only people who know our true history, especially in a game like this. Any previous Jenn-Kellon king or Champion on Epic could login today and no one in our kingdom would recognize his military or general history, mostly because we have almost all new players. Having a certain set of hours is bogus I think, since I personally know players with 1000 hours who don't know the first thing about uniques, weapons, what monsters you can fight with what equipment/FS, anything about Animal Husbandry traits, Meditation path bonuses, rare functionality, Valrei scenarios + missions, the value of moon metal, etc. There are tons of old players who are total noobs in a lot of areas. Being a "veteran" isn't as simple as copy+pasting your time played. It's all objective, like you said. As far as PvP is concerned, I think that veterans are able to survive on their own, build their own deed from scratch, or otherwise master a skill (70+ on Epic with the curve, 80+ curve-less). Surviving in the wilderness is tough, especially alone, since you never know what could be out there. Even with a no-trait horse with 50ql gear, you could run into a dragon, drake spirit, or champ crocodile and be unable to defend yourself/get away/retrieve your corpse. I'd say that anyone who has been playing for more than a year and has achieved the knowledge or experience of most of the following could bring someone to claim themselves as a vet or rather I would trust and believe them if they showed evidence of these: Knowledge Knowing to keep the horse fed, knowing how to quickly train Body Control to ride the horse in the first place the main differences between plate/chain/studded/leather what potential sacrificing rare items has + CCFP benefits acknowledging that huge axes are the official unique-slaying weapon and that arrows are pointless even at 90+ Archery knowing the benefit of butchered unique drops and how to use them with source salt, etc having created or lived in a deed for more than a year knows how to win Valrei scenarios and what the potential rewards are knows how fast wood buildings decay off deed Skill having personally dug 5000+ dirt/clay or made 5000+ bricks/mortar multiple non-gathering 50s, 70s, or an 80-90, Fight skill is especially convincing since it takes so long and is valuable made special tiles using their own transmutation liquid made priest alts and gotten their channeling to a useable level made their own full set of tools, armor, or weapons and can reliably make more had the determination to create a 2+ wide road that spans 250+ tiles and has level width (bonus points for guard towers, lamp posts, slabs) having made 2+ guard towers or 4+ archery towers made 2+ sailboats or at least one of any more advanced boat have created a collection of boats, regardless of whether or not they made/lockpicked them has a merchant somewhere fully loaded with reasonably priced and decent QL equipment/goods created a 5+ story stone building built stone bridges that the community will use for decades to come personally completed an almanac knows how to prospect to find veins History can name the heads of the local server, their connections, valuable skill assets or PvP knowledge knows the place of the deed they belonged to 5+ years ago, the name and old mayor has memory of the old player gods, their notoriety, and religion These are all examples of things a player can claim to know or have experienced and I will consider them a veteran Wurmian. You don't have to be familiar with every Wurm Online mechanic or have slain one of each unique to magically become a vet. Just become a personal encyclopedia for your specialized skill(s) and help those who need it.

I think its no secret that on average BL have weaker accounts compared to JK probably because we're so wholesome and noob friendly but most people I know think allowing SFI accounts to join and play on Defiance is a good idea, more people = more fun. Just make the body stat curve steeper so someone with 90 body stats aren't a god compared to someone with 50.

Maybe what we really need is for someone to take on the task of a historian and document all the player made history. It would be a big task, but like you said... Wurm has a player history that stretches' many years. I wish we documented it as we went along...

Personal contribution : "Pygmalion" - a mythologycal sculptor who crafted such a beautiful statue he fell in love with it and wished for a bride similar to it in appearance. The goddess Aphrodite took pity on him and granted the statue life and Pygmalion married her.

Every player/staff should be held responsible for their invalid actions and treated accordingly. This is MMO last time i checked and not private server where GM's can do whatever they want for their and their friends favors and benefits. Also it's pretty hilarious to see thise always outspoken forum posters dramatize about freedom of speech and censorship all of sudden while it's been always like this and nothing really changed. I am pretty sure everyone that reads on thise forums now and then know by now how other players been deal with in the past 1000 bans/investiagations and this is pretty much the same. So calm down, you are not special, just a player like everyone else

Skill training tool to advise players how effective their current task is producing skill ticks. This could be something that tells us our final action difficulty and modified skill. The roll Gaussian method has a difficulty and skill field. Give us a way to get these values. Maybe 5 different words describing the action: easy, effortless, challenging, hard, impossible. The words should NOT be a simple 20 point division of range 0 to 100. A better option would be a normal curve with a mean of 20, a range of -100 to 100, skill ticks happens at >0 and <40. I'm not sure about standard deviation. That value in roll Gaussian tends to vary based on the difficulty and skill values it receives. Shift drag from bsb. The shift+drag action that creates a "Moving items" window should pass whatever value we put in it into the bulk containers withdraw field. Expand more on moving items around between containers that are close to the character. For example, using shift+drag to drop a selected number of inventory items on say a forge (not inside an open container) doesn't work. Dragging from bulk into non-bulk with a function similar to moving items between bulk containers don't work. For example, you can't grab 100 ore from a crate and drop it inside a smelter in a single action. It's fine if it takes a certain duration to move that around. But it's not fine when we have to ping-pong our mouse around while holding shift+enter. Add "Filter items..." tool to all containers.

Happy Birthday Sklotopolis - 7 years Today we celebrate 7 years of Sklotopolis, I never expected this server to last for such a long time. Seven years ago Sklotopolis was just an almost vanilla world, which hasn't got any of the great features we are using today. Many hundreds of hours have been put into developing more than 100 different mods turning Sklotopolis into a unique place to play. Even after all this time a big bunch of our features are still unique in the Wurm universe, nobody else has been able to adopt our wide variety as of now. Thanks to the great team behind me for helping manage the server, without you Sklotopolis wouldn't be where it is now. And of course thanks to all our players for turning this project into such a big success story. I am looking forward to the next years, we still aren't finished, and there are big things to come.

Our beloved Rageed has gone missing! Last seen in the vicinity of Alora near S-12/13. Rageed is a very important member of our village that has special needs and needs to be constantly brushed and reassured. Please help us find our horse! Ayuna is spending countless nights in suffering due to the separation which has lead to fatal wounds and continued quick shortcuts down the mountain. The terrible expedition has her scarred for life! Please assist Ayuna in recovering her horsie!

I am pleased to announce that Rageed has been found safe and sound. He was lovingly lead back to the deed and is back again with its owner. On another note, we found Ayuna's corpse as well with all her belongings. We also found that the skid line from the top of the mountain she created on the way down with her face had been covered by the snows. It is, in the end, a happy ending. Thanks to those that helped!
