I know there are a lot of exciting changes going on with wurm recently, and it is obvious how hard *everyone* has been working on new features, community feedback and such. Thank you to everyone that is making all these amazing things happen. In addition to these more "obvious" changes that are taking place and being discussed, I wanted to draw attention to the absolutely mind blowing new celestial changes to the sky, especially during sunrise and sunset. I am finding it hard to conjure enough adjectives to describe it in words. What was just recently a very quick shuffle thru the spectrum of colors, is now a slow, graceful, spectacular display of beauty. The wurmiverse is just one of the things that I love here, and I am frequently finding myself just staring at Sol, the sky, and Moons for an hour before I realize that much time has passed. THANK YOU for all your hard work!! I look around in the game and say, "This is where I want to live." ❤️ For those that have not been able to see these changes, here are a couple screenshots from the last couple of days from Pristine. Taking a break from work on updating Blossom Market Park to watch Sol rise Watching Sol fade away from our deed, The Moon at Perihelion Jackal and Sol in a total eclipse shortly after dawn

After a wall is decayed or destroyed, it would be nice if there were remnants left that would decay much slower but could be removed with a single bash and would not have a collision check. This would make abandoned places look much more interesting. What is your opinion on this?

It can be a pain in the butt to make a multi-story building especially when you have to keep going down to the first level for more materials. I suggest a new interactive wall type called Platform Pulley Mount that would have 2 Wood Beams jetting out from the building with Pulleys at the end. Rope would be used to raise and lower a platform that can be loaded with crates. Materials: Use Hammer and Wall Plan to create 2x Wood Beam 2x Pulley 2x Thick Rope 1x Wagoner Container (for added difficulty and realism) +2 Thick Rope per level starting at level 3 Use: Load Crates onto platform just like you normally would with a wagoner container on the ground outside the building Go up to the level where the Pulley Mount is located Right click Platform Pulley Mount > Click Raise Platform Crates can then be Unloaded to player position by Right click Platform Pulley Mount > Click Unload Here To bring the platform back to the ground Right click Platform Pulley Mount > Click Lower Platform

I'm continuing my yearly tradition of giving away a free holiday weapon for new players. In prior years, I only included Celebration. This year, I'm offering a 70ql weapon to any new player on the old servers. I can drop it off at TDM on Celebration. Happy holidays.

I know it's QoL time coming soon as far as dev work but please.. We have hooks. We have walls. Maybe a hook and a nail, and we can then hang things on walls? I mean, just about everyone would love this I would think.

Who's that Pokémon? Find out when we reveal it in... 2 hours ago? Oh no, what happened? I'm busy on Sunday and some joker made it holidays the next two weekends, so it's gotta be Saturday despite my usual "at least 3 days warning" motif? Well then! Apologies for the inconvenience, but here's the times: Discord time code: <t:1671307200:F> Servertime: Sat Dec 17 21:00:00 CET 2022 At Bruce's Flying Circus! N13

I have an idea kind of group inspired. Ento :- introduction to more insects than bees and the ability to keep them in terrariums/hives etc. with the added produce of larvae and other by products like beeswax for instance to make candles, use as fishing bait. beetles etc for another source of cochineal. collection of different insects for use to catch different fish etc. for instance grass hopers, butterflt which would be a better influence on blooming crop germination (increase in yield at the cost of some ql) with the existing bees (increase in ql at the cost of yield) crickets/grass hoppers (decrease in yield and ql for a spawn of larvae usable in fishing) Beetles (attack on sweet crops medium cost on yield but produce cochineal) buildable insect enclosures that act similar to the beehives in that they can help with certain crop growth. Taxidermy. Its already done in WU but it would be cool to taxiderm the insects for display along with certain creatures like ones from slaying. its a nice prestigious display to have a dragon stuffed and mounted on your tavern roof. it would also be cool to have displayable taxidermised insects. along with preservation of things that you want to keep. for instance that one rare item youve made and kept but you dont want to lose or sell it. you could preserve it (in beeswax) for all time. obviously you wont be able to use it ever again thereafter because its now too slippy from the beeswax. But the collectors and archivists out there can love their items forever. Cheers for reading ❤️

Those poor horsies and other animals that get diseased and go unnoticed until they fall over dead.... Is it possible to give them some identifying feature like flies around them, a greenish haze cloud around them or something visual which does not need a mouseover to determine their status? (Similar to how ripe fruit shows on trees as a visual prompt that it can be harvested.)

Apologies, it looks like some of the map settings changes for player maps slipped through to the old deed map hints. Fix will be incoming asap, though will only fix newly generated maps.

Add an option to turn ash into water to create ink (can save resources and have same item as the result from octopus). This lines up well with india ink irl. And make it reasonably tied to ash ql (another use for high ql ash). And maybe less difficult than dyes so lower skilled players can still make good ink. (It does not compete with dyemaking)

There was 4 people total across every server with more then 30 skill in it and was by far the least used skill in the entire game and they now use base war machines as the skill. Fixing how the food affinities work is super tricky and it is something we want to investigate more but it is a rather large project on its own to keep everyone from rerolling all food affinities in the process or we would have done so long ago trust me its not fun for us either to have restrictions like this. The 4 people who had over 30 skill will be getting a unique title just for them soon, and the person who had the highest will also be getting a 2nd unique to them title as they where so far ahead of the next closest.

We have a dig to ground option, How about the same for leveling? It works that way in mining and I'm at a loss, trying to think of the last time I did any digging in RL, where I put the dirt in my pack...

So it took me a few steps today on deli to understand something was wrong with treasure maps that I got post update today. Here is one step and example : https://imgur.com/a/x5KIphu The location is this https://deliverance.yaga.host/#667,1311 Notice how the map is rotated to the North east? Also means the "north" on the compass on the treasure map is now worthless. Now I am correlating this bug with the fact that actual cartography maps we can create now are also slightly rotated when they are created. I am guessing something is happening in the code that is rotating treasure maps left and right while the "N" on them is not truly pointing north.

My fault for not having it actually go in when we announced it, we have made some tweaks to it on the test server we plan to put live Tuesday tho and will have an additional patch note for it then. My apology for the confusion here we will get another note out on Tuesday about it along with some tweaks to it from feedback.

I can understand that, however, we just got Cartography and having put nearly 20 points in it in one day playing, I would love to see that skill added into the stats and tracker. I don't know what that entails and perhaps someone else with the skill could come along and work on it with/for you? I wish you luck on your endeavors, I am also working on some programming classes when I'm not working or wurming.

Regarding vehicle/mount turning: I've made some more tweaks to it on test that should make it feel a bit more responsive than currently. I think the issue is a bit two-fold between fixing a bug with reduced speed while turning and the minimum turning degrees and ramp-up of turning speed is a bit slow. I've tweaked that minimum and ramp-up a little bit, and made it more responsive for turning while already moving forward - but it will still take a bit of getting used to since the speed no longer reduces when turning.

If you shoot arrows into something - a troll, say - and after it's dead, you walk over, open the corpse, see your stack of arrows, and try to take them, one of two things will happen You get 20 war arrows. That would be illegal here. You can check the settlement token for the local laws. My suggestion is... fix it so that #2 never happens. This is a serious issue for archers. You can't be certain your target animal is on deed unless you... walk up to it before hand, watching the Event window to see if you entered a deed. That is not how hunting should work. Quality arrows are difficult and time consuming to make. At current NFI prices, it could cost you 20c or more to shoot a tortoise. Possible ways to do this: Prevent players from firing arrows onto someone else's deed (draconian) Prevent players firing arrows onto a deed where they don't have permission to drop / pick things up (not much different) Log a warning message in the Event tab when firing arrows onto someone else's deed, e.g. "The arrow flies onto a settlement and may be lost." (much better) Extend the existing concept of proximity ownership to arrows so that you can pick them up, and no one else can (great) Extend the code around arrows and ownership in a way that solves this problem and lets you get credit for shooting things at a Rift (perfect)

Something i haven't seen talked about in recent ages Player made logos. I know this is quite a sensitive subject seeing that players would abuse this idea but i could be something that can be bought with silver coins or marks and have to be approved by staff before being useable but i t would certainly liven up the game some seeing any time we talk about pmk stuff being brought to nfi freedom servers is a contraversial subject. this bring a whole different light to the table the logos being useable on wagons, ship sails, flag ,banners, and tabbards. Wurm could definatly use some more diversity.

I think the problem is pretty much: Slayings are either private/exclusive/elitist — or — there are so many leeching alts that the game slows to a crawl. There should be a happy medium. Rules about claim, and about loot drops, mean that GMs are frequently required to intervene. These things should tend to run themselves. Between dragon scale, strange bones, and magical tomes, the stakes are too high. People should be happy to share in community events, not jealously guarding secrets.

Literally this, though I'm sure people will just answer that they do even though they're scared to go to the other corner of their map. Poll's pretty useless without having an actual list of all the things that'd influence the input of information.
  49. 1 point
It's a shame there's no question "do you actively hunt" because I think that would be very helpful. The problem with this "poll" is that the questions carry inherent bias, with nothing about how often someone finds uniques, hunts, participates in public slayings, or any of the sort. I'd like to see the inherent bias removed and one built around measuring effort/involvement more than "are you a have or a have not?" Ultimately, the devs don't live under a rock, and I get that some feel it's dominated by a select few. I don't agree with the timed slaying thing and I feel that the majority that want it just want ANYTHING done to stop the perceived hoarding, but I'd like to see mechanics improved to be more fun.

Thanks, I've updated the listing on this and a few others, and I've just gone digging and added hyperlinks to all the ones I can find. Because the URLs change when titles get updated this might prove too unwieldy to keep up to date, but I'll give it a go for a while!
