    We’re looking for feedback on the new Cartography skill and you’re invited! The testing is currently taking place on Druska only. You will find a crystal at the Oracle starter village named Exploration Testing, using this will take you there. To use the test client, use the Choose Client shortcut or add -c at the end of your target in your Wurm Online Launcher shortcut and choose the Exploration Testing client. For Steam, right-click Wurm Online in your Steam Library and click Properties. Then add a -c to the Launch Options and choose the Exploration Testing client. Make sure you select the Exploration Testing option from the menu as the normal testing client will be missing new effects and crash when doing things like opening maps. Also make sure you travel to the Druska testing server as this is the only server with the new feature enabled. Logging in with a new username/password will register an account automatically and log you in. Selecting any item and using it on the ground will give a test option which allows you to change your skills and spawn in items like armour and weapons. You can also use it to change your faith, deity and spawn items like vesselled gems/statuette. Submitting the test menu will also heal you fully and restore your stamina. At the bottom of the test item creation option you can also spawn in a fully geared horse/ropes to get around quicker. As well as the usual reporting of bugs and weird things, we’re interested in how difficult you find learning how the system works, and what issues you run into as you go through the steps. Because of this, we’re not going to explain much in this post on how to get started since everything in-game should explain it for you. To that end, the test menu has a few new options added for relevant items. To access the test menu just activate any item and right-click the ground to select from the list. The Cartography-related items are at the bottom of the list. The journal has a new tier that should be immediately available as an introduction to the skill, and will hopefully have all of the necessary information for you to do everything the skill has. Once you hit 10 Cartography, a second tier will become available and take you through an introduction to stamps. If you find any issues or have any questions be sure to let us know below.     My view personally is not everything needs a direct benefit somehow and sometimes things just for the fun of it are nice also. This skill was more inspired by allowing people to be creative and display that in the world where they can be enjoyed. At the end of the day its hard to make something everyone will enjoy, extra so in a game like Wurm where we just have so many different possible play styles and skills people like/don't like. We hope though once its live people will find plenty of fun and creative things to do with them over time, and will be open to suggestions on things we could add to increase the possibilities in future updates.

    I think this feature is not really my style of gameplay but I'll give some feedback on it, given I've completed the journals. I was a bit surprised to see how free form it is, I sort of expected that it would auto place or at least suggest where a structure stamp would go. For combining maps some opacity on the one you are moving would be nice so you can more easily line up overlaps. I couldn't imprint the village stamp, is this due to perms? As above, is linking to the world map completely manual. 10/10 would stamp Edit: Maps can be burned, amazing Edit 2: Erasing all markers seems a bit brute force but maybe thats fine.

    Wurm Online: Jackal’s Return A Wurm Online Expansion Overview In Wurm Online: Jackal’s Return, players will once again venture into the lands of Jackal to fight the rift invaders in their home world. With a new design, players will have to work together to slowly push back the fauna and cleanse the Jackal landscape. The rift invaders have created outposts across Jackal which charge the barrier preventing entry to the central fortress. Once the outposts are destroyed, an assault can be made on the fortress. A successful assault will lead to Jackal’s armageddon phase, where players will be sent back to their original homeworlds and incur a moon metal meteor shower across all of Wurm. Jackal Returns Accessing Jackal Jackal portals can now be created similar to the PvP or Epic portals, though they require rift wood and rift stone to craft. Once created, players can travel back and forth from Jackal freely. Skills will transfer to and from Jackal, but items will not (with a few exceptions). Faith and currency will not transfer either. Jackal can be accessed from both the Southern and Northern Freedom Isles, making it the only place where players from both clusters can play together. Currency (iron/copper/silver/gold) will not transfer to the server from any cluster, because Jackal will have a unique currency system for players to create deeds and trade. Hazardous Terrain Jackal’s terrain is completely covered in fauna. This fauna is poisonous to players, and will cause damage rapidly when attempting to traverse it. In order to survive, players will be required to use a variety of methods to either remove or replace the fauna. Pavers can pack and pave over the fauna to make it safe to travel. Libila priests can use Fungus to create mycelium which will overtake the fauna. Fo priests can use Cleanse to rid the area of the fauna and replace it with dirt or grass. This will require players to move slowly across the map, making roads through the fauna to reach points of interest. Using jackal points, obtained through removing the fauna and assaulting outposts, players will be able to create deeds over areas which are fully expunged of the fauna. New Resources In the cave systems of Jackal, players will be able to find Cobalt veins, a new metal type unique to Jackal. The properties of this metal are between that of steel and moon metals. Any cobalt item created that turns rare, supreme, or fantastic becomes unbound. The trees of Jackal also possess similar special properties. Items created from these wood types will become unbound if turned rare, supreme, or fantastic. Unbound Items Completing objectives on Jackal (such as assaulting an outpost) will reward participants with a random unbound item. Unbound items can be any tool, weapon, or armor. Metal or wooden items will have a random material type. Unbound items have the special property of being able to freely transfer between Jackal and Wurm. This allows players to retain items they found for use at the start of the next iteration of Jackal. These can be improved, enchanted, runed, and modified in the ways any normal item can be modified. In addition, they increase the difficulty of any action performed with them by a small amount. This makes them less efficient than normal tools, but useful for certain skill gain methods. Priest Restrictions On Jackal, priests have less restrictions than in the homeland of Wurm. Since faith does not transfer, players will be able to pick a new faith and become a priest specifically on Jackal if they choose to do so. Each deity now permits it’s priests to improve a certain subset of items: Fo: Tailoring and all sub-skills. Nature and all sub-skills. Vynora: Carpentry and all sub-skills. Pottery. Magranon: Smithing and all sub-skills. Libila: Masonry and sub-skill Stone cutting. This will allow players to maintain the combat effectiveness of being a priest, while still being able to pick up a crafting trade to benefit the war effort against the rift invaders. Jackal Points Jackal points are earned through removing fauna and completing Jackal objectives. These jackal points can be exchanged for rewards directly, or used to place a deed and claim land on Jackal for the current iteration. Armageddon Once the final fortress is assaulted and destroyed, Jackal will enter an armageddon phase. This will cause chaos on Jackal for a few days before finally destroying the map entirely. The armageddon phase is not time-gated, and players can trigger it whenever they complete enough Jackal objectives to open up the fortress. It will be up to the speed and efficiency of players tackling Jackal to trigger this event. When the Armageddon phase completes, Jackal’s server will shut down and a moon metal meteor shower will begin across all servers in Wurm. The meteors that land will have 5-10 lumps of moon metal that can be mined by players who find them. After a week, the Jackal server will regenerate and launch again with a refreshed map. Content Reworks Heading into Jackal, an experimental combat system update and meditation rework will be implemented for Jackal. If these systems receive positive feedback, they will be applied to the rest of Wurm. Combat The combat system has been tweaked to allow players to interact more with the opponent. The UI will now show the attack direction of your opponent. Special moves have been updated to be more potent against NPC’s. Their accuracy is now significantly higher than a normal swing. Effects such as draining the food bar now have a much more significant impact on the creature’s fighting ability. These concepts are applied to players as well. A well fed and hydrated combatant is now more competent in combat than a starving one. Creatures now become less effective in combat at lower stamina. As health and stamina declines, their combat ability declines with them. AI for Jackal creatures are now more advanced than standard creatures. They will use player-like behavior and target any mounts or creatures hitched to your vehicle first, leaving them heavily wounded before switching to the player. They do not focus on dealing killing blows to mounts or hitched creatures, instead opting to leave them wounded to cripple the player’s movement. Meditation Meditation is completely overhauled. Instead of requiring a 2 minute meditation at a certain location, meditation is now an option on certain objects. Players will activate their meditation rug, then use it on the object that’s relevant to their path in order to gain skill and advance. For example, Path of Hate will use corpses of slain creatures as their meditation target. Path of Insanity will use veins in mines as their target. Meditating on proper targets will grant enlightenment progress, which can be used to unlock the perks of meditation. Each meditation path has new abilities which are unlocked then upgraded. For example, Path of Knowledge’s Get Info ability can be upgraded to show creature traits when used. Path of Love’s Enchanted Grass ability can be upgraded to freeze the age of a tree, preventing it from growing. Enlightenment progress increases faster with more meditation skill. The progression has been reworked to be entirely based around enlightenment, with meditation skill being a factor only for the speed at which enlightenment is gained. There are no longer any skill level locks on meditation. Final Words This is a suggestion, not a news post. If you were getting excited, you can stop now.

    it’s only eye candy in an already beautiful game, but weather visuals could get some love. I look in the sky and no matter how cloudy I see stars in the night?!? Rain no matter how strong it is, hardly to see. Same for snow. Please make weather more meaningful, at least visually. Low hanging thick clouds, blizzards, monsun like rain, fog. and flawless sunshine.

    I would like to suggest the inclusion of a fuel box for furnace type objects such as the oven, forge, stills, fireplaces, campfires to name a few This would be a wooden or stone box where logs, peat, tar, woodscrap could be loaded into, possibly even similar to a crate and planted like how Wagoneer boxes are placed at a waystone. It would hold a certain amount of fuel that would be automatically burned by the associated object or even a radius to keep such items burning for as long as fuel exists in the reserve. The downside is that this would consume more fuel than manually fueling the forge because it should fuel the item as soon as it says "the fire burns with wild flames and still has much unburnt material" Stills specifically to cook their whole load can take at least a day or two so it seems like this should already be an option.

    Agree. My Wurm life changed for the better when I saw her sip booze and regenerate stamina. Now every riding horse I have has a measuring jug with wine in it and an empty one set to 1g. I have no fear of climbing mountains or swimming across very large lakes.

    Lol I do a sip 1g booze 3 times for a tile with 90 slope. With one water skin full of good booze this takes you over the highest peaks of Xanadu and back, and is not even empty (2,500 sips). If some Deli maps are easy, enjoy. I also had Xan maps with 2 steps, and a chess queen. Edit: Eternal gratefulness to Malena to have demonstrated this method of climbing in her videos

    I'll have another look at the duration of these and see if I can get something a bit better. Having an ink pot in your inventory will act as a backup source of ink for reed pens (so if your pen is empty, it'll automatically pull from the ink pot). You'll be sent up to ~37 tiles from the starting location in any direction during the survey, so having to go out into the water is expected. This is kind of intended since the contour intervals are determined by the map location (and quality of the map). I get the issue though, so I'll have another look at it - it might be something like over a certain skill or survey quality you start recording global contour intervals instead of local ones. Thanks, we'll have a look at this. For multiple surveys that are around the same spot: you'll gain skill for that, but at a much reduced rate to doing things properly. It tracks locations on where you're surveying and scales down gains based on time since you last did that location and any nearby surveys that you did there.

    Is your PvP community toxic or led by critical elitists with 90 body strength? Does it seem like one side is winning every skirmish? Are you a Freedom player who's always wanted to give PvP a try but didn't know where to start? Give Epic a try! The "Epic" servers were established in 2011 and are relatively ancient, although some servers have been given new makeovers (Affliction 2014, Elevation 2019) to provide a clean slate. Composed of four total servers in this cluster, there are three home servers, one for each kingdom to start off in, and a fourth server where these kingdoms clash! Affliction (Horde of the Summoned), Desertion (Mol-Rehan), and Serenity (Jenn-Kellon) offer each kingdom a place to call their own, where natives have a combat rating (CR) bonus vs invaders. Here, each kingdom can establish a thriving economy, create sprawling deeds/alliances, hone their skills and collect their valuables. Home servers rarely see player-versus-player action but you never know when a raiding party might come around. The thrill of knowing all that you hold sacred may be at risk one day can drive a nation together. Will you support your fellow kingdom members or steal from your neighbors and sabotage them? Or are you merely looking to make as much 💰money💰 as possible, monopolizing the market and mastering the art of the deal. You might become world-famous as a supplier (as Led once did), a combat legend like Gary, a pirate like Kellyt, or an infamous picker of locks like Gbelcik who named each boat after himself + the counter of how many he had broken into. Your fate is your own and you should follow your Epic destiny! When ready to take PvP to the next level, Elevation offers a chance for each kingdom to create deeds/capitals, become king/queen and elect officials in their kingdom offices, and allows priests to become champions of their deity. Along with all this, there are "epic" Valrei scenarios where each kingdom is given a dedicated god to follow on the Valrei map. By completing missions and strategically controlling their god's efforts on the map, one kingdom can lead their god to victory, offering rare moonmetals, tomes of magic, and more to the kingdom's top contributing denizens. But "we have all these things on Chaos and Defiance" you might say... Well, Epic also boasts a unique skill curve that levels the playing field, ensuring newer players can stand a chance versus the servers' god-tier characters. This curve affects all skills besides characteristics, Fight skill, Faith, and Alignment. This curve enables you to swiftly achieve your goals and gain skills faster than ever. The curve essentially gives you extra, virtual skill on top of your base skill. It increases rapidly at first, slowing as you raise your skills beyond 70. It's visible by hovering your cursor over a skill in-game within the Skills window and worth noting that this curve only affects currently premium players. Epic Skill Curve Examples: 20 actual skill offers a curve of 36, allowing you to cut 36 QL logs at 20 Woodcutting 30 actual skill offers a curve of 50, allowing you to easily make 50 QL saddles at only 30 leather working 50 actual skill offers a curve of 75, allowing a miner to excavate 75 QL iron even though their mining is only 50 70 actual skill offers a curve of 90 90 actual skill offers a curve of 99 99.00 actual skill offers a curve of 99.99 The population on these servers is essentially null, however there are a few deeds left on each home server and a handful on Elevation. Serenity only has one public merchant at its starter deed (it's mine)! The benefit of playing on a nearly dead cluster is that you can easily make a name for yourself. Those who help others in need may quickly rise through the ranks. Whereas it can be spooky on Chaos/Defiance where you deed just a few thousand tiles away from enemies who want nothing more than to gut you and drain your deed, Epic's home servers offer much more substantial distances between you and your enemies and a CR bonus against attacking invaders. All kingdoms on these servers could use a boost of active players, there is no side taking the lead *yet* but you should definitely join Jenn-Kellon and that's definitely not just my opinion. Unfortunately, skills do not transfer to the connected Southern Freedom Isles like they do between Defiance<->Northern Freedom Isles. Players have often appealed to the developers of this great game to incentivize Freedom players to give Epic a try while benefiting their Freedom counterparts, but to no avail. The only thing that transfers between Epic/Freedom is Journal entries. Also unfortunately, if your character is on Defiance or other Northern Freedom Isles, you will have to create a new character and select a Southern Freedom Isle or an Epic server to play here. However, if you already find yourself on a Southern Freedom Isle, just create an Epic portal out of 4x 24kg logs and 11x stone bricks and hop right over! mods, I made this post here and not in "Epic: Recruitment" because ain't nobody reading those forums. If I want to recruit, I've gotta get my foot in the door where someone might actually read this post 😛

    You should do some deliverance maps. 99% of the map is traversable by horse, the exception being a few small deeded islands, but those won't even be counted for maps anyway. Xanadu is simply a nightmare when we are talking traveling distance even on a fast horse. As for the huge mountains, yeah I do not live on Xan but would rather see my fellow players adequately rewarded for attempting to do maps there considering some mountains there require you to bring 100 stamina sandwiches just to do 1 step of a map.

    Introducing Platinum Tools. The first platinum tool is the *pickaxe, platinum*. It will be available to all players with existing or new accounts who log into the Frenetia, Arboretum and Open Gobbler servers between 11 December 2022 and 8 January 2023. Each alternate account can receive one. It is special because it has built-in bonuses of maximum rarity, runity and potion power. It allows players with low mining skill to mine ores which may be be up to quality 10 greater than that which the basic pickaxe would allow. When the player's mining skill reaches 80 a small amount of ores of quality 100 will be possible. As mining skill further increases the frequency of quality 100 ores will also increase. Players who have only played on the Open Gobbler server which will be concluding in July 2023, may also like to log into the ongoing Frenetia server during the Christmas season to secure a more lasting pickaxe, platinum. We anticipate that some Gobbler tasks may have platinum tool rewards in the future so that the Christmas season will not be the only pathway to obtaining a pickaxe, platinum. As time allows, a longer term plan will be to develop platinum ores and the ability to craft platinum tools and other items.     Well there I was just taking care of some business on deed, listening to the crunch and crackle of bones and feeling very much at home. Until it happened. I was riding by and Sigvard spoke.     Hey. Having same problem, just picked up several of my horses around different places on deed, new born foals, my rider that always are hitched inside a building. So far its 4 horses but havent checked all. I was away since the day after the halloween event stopped.

    Not my idea but rather a friend of mine Mikehunt. He was wondering that with how nice the wood bridges look, why can't we have an option to build wooden docks, or any other material that is allowed for regular bridges. This would be a nice alternative to just dumping crates of dirt into the water to build a pier type structure. I imagine you could use the mechanics already found in bridge construction and just have part of the survey/planning done with someone moored out in the water in a rowboat.

For non-mailable items, it is a good idea to indicate whether you will be providing delivery, or if you expect the item to be picked up by the buyer. Basics of your Auction Post: Starting bid: the starting point for bidding. Don’t put a value lower than you’re willing to accept unless you set a reserve. Increment (minimum): the smallest increase you’ll accept between bids. For example, if you set the increment to 1s, each successive bid must be at least 1s higher than the last one. Reserve: optional. You may start bidding at a lower price and set a reserve. Your reserve may be kept private, but is generally better stated publicly as part of the first post. The reserve is the minimum price you will accept at the end of the auction (even though bidding may start lower). Sniper protection: optional. When bidding gets fast paced and heated toward the end of the auction, sniper protection will extend the auction by a set time after the last bid. For example, if there are 2 minutes left in the auction, with a 1-hour sniper protection, and someone places a new high bid, the auction is extended by 1 hour. If another bid comes in after that, the auction is extended again by 1 hour from the time of the bid, and so on, until there are no more bids within an hour of the last one. Private bids: optional. If you accept private bids, players can PM you their offer to remain anonymous. Suggestions: Please be aware, your reputation is your own. Staff will generally not get involved in sales between players. Retracting bids is within your rights, however most players frown upon this. Don't bid if you can't afford the item. Keep your auction timer brief. Auctions that are too long run into auction fatigue, and players may forget about it, or it may be pushed down the auction list. Auctions that are too short may be missed. Two to three days is often used, with up to a week not being uncommon. Edits: do give care and consideration before posting your auction; edits should be made only if you are lowering the price if attraction is slow and you want to kick off the bids. Re-listing: if your item does not sell and you wish to re-list it, it is better to ask for the current post to be locked so you can create a new one, with any adjustments that you wish to make to the auction offerings. Being forthright with your reserve price is generally well-received by players, as they know what the least amount is that you are willing to accept. Respectful comments are allowed in auction postings, as well as any marketplace listings; this may include comments on pricing etc. You may also PM the person directly. If you place a bid and win, and the auction concludes, you are expected to complete the sale. Likewise, if you list the auction and the item sells for less than you’d hoped for, you should not back out of the sale. If you have a minimum price and you’re not willing to accept less than that, please set a reserve or starting price appropriately. If you’re unclear about how much time is left after sniper protection has been enacted, refresh the page and look at the last post. It will say how long ago it was posted. If you mouse over the post, it should also tell you when it was posted. When your auction is complete, if you would like the thread locked, please edit the first post in the thread to change the title to include something like '[CLOSED]' or '[CLOSE PLEASE]'. Do not use the 'report post' link for this.
