I can't truly express how annoying it is to dump $100's into this game, earn marks, then take a break but hopping in every few weeks for a status check and to see what new skin is available - then finally see a skin that I like, but unable to buy that skin with the marks I earned because I'm not PRESENTLY premium. I understand monetization, but this just seems wrong. I earned those marks with my premium purchases, but that isn't good enough, I need to be premium at the time I spend my marks... I must pay, for the privilege of paying.

Hello all! I’m here with an update on what’s happening with Wurm Online! First, we will be having a Black Friday sale again this year! Like last year, this sale will run from Wednesday through Sunday and will feature 25% off premium and silver prices, with 30% off one-year premium purchases. Don’t worry; we’ll get this information in the launcher soon. Next, I’m pleased to announce that Exploration: Part II has a release date of December 13th! We will be opening up the Cartography part for playtesting this Friday, with other features becoming available for testing as they pass our internal tests. This date is a goal, but we will change it if needed to address issues that may arise from playtesting. Finally, I have set a goal of having a better road map ready by January 2023. We have many suggestions from when the site was open, plus what has been made on the forum and what we already had in our pipeline. 2023 will be a year of new player retention, quality-of-life improvements, reworks, and bug fixing. We do have the desire to implement more significant features, but this work will be secondary to the goal of improving the current Wurm Online experience. Thank you for your support, and I hope everyone stays safe out there! Happy Wurming! Keenan

I've finally come to the conclusion that my cooking area is cramped, poorly laid out, and in desperate need of a makeover. And a makeover needs inspiration. For all you chefs out there that love spending time in your wurm kitchens, I encourage you to show us your cooking area and tell us what you love about it! And while I'm not looking to make a panfilling factory, panfillers should feel free to chime in too.

Maybe we could have a new forum category for suggestions, and have subcategories for different types of suggestions and roadmap stages. Subcategories for the suggestion section could be something like: Quality of life suggestions Ideas for new mechanics Ideas to improve existing game mechanics Other suggestions Posts in those categories would all be considered "open", and then staff would periodically review them and move into the one of the roadmap sections: Under review Planned Closed This way we can still use the forums, just with a little more structure. The like button can be a way to judge how interested the community is in an idea, but I think it's important to keep the discussions attached to them, so it might be best to try and make it work here on the forums if possible.

Hello, Wurmians, we’re back with the final Valrei International focused on bringing a sneak peek into the Exploration Update Part Two! If you missed part one and two of these sneak peek issues, you can find them here: And now, without further ado, I’m excited to announce that our third major feature introduced in this update will be… Goblin Camps! Rumours of strange new goblins have begun to spread around the lands, of goblins who are smarter and tougher than the ones we typically find. These goblins have advanced combat techniques and organize themselves into camps, working together to defend them. When coming across a goblin camp, you will notice it is well defended; spiked barriers line the edges of the camp while ranged attacks rain down from atop wooden towers into the battle below. Goblin camps provide a new combat encounter you can find out in the wilds of Wurm which will be tailored to smaller to medium groups of players rather than single players. The hope is that this will be a bit more challenging than your normal combat and require a small group of adventurers banding together to complete. With uniques being the only real group combat encounter, this felt like a good place to introduce another one which requires less players and spawn much more frequently, making them easier to find and participate in. Inside every camp you’ll find varying types of goblins defending it. Some fight from atop tall archery towers, requiring ranged attacks to defeat them. Others will target mounts and pets inside the camp area, so make sure you’re not bringing your best creatures along for the battle unless you are willing to lose them. Each goblin variant will have its own special abilities and priorities in the fight. These camps will spawn away from villages and the goblins will not attack you (nor can you attack them) unless you are within a few tiles of the perimeter of their camp. After some time with no one challenging them for too long in the current area, they may become bored and pack up camp to find a new location. These goblins, though smarter, still have not figured out how to dig and they will make no changes to the land they decide to inhabit other than clearing some trees out to make room for their camp if they are in the way. And now, to introduce our newest enemies! Pyro Goblin Goblins with a love for fire, who will throw flaming containers of liquid onto tiles causing them to deal damage over time till they burn out. Leave these alive too long and you might find your escape blocked by burning piles of tar. Brute Goblin A strong and durable goblin who will charge up to targets and stun them for a short period of time. Not something you want to leave alive for long as they pack quite the punch and will make short work of mounts preferring to focus them first. Rogue Goblin Will be hiding in the shadows and only make themselves known after ambushing someone and dealing a rather large amount of damage. Just when you think you’ve successfully backed off to heal, one of these may pop out to surprise you! Shield, Medic, and Ranged Goblins will all look similar to these Sword Goblins above, just with different held items pertaining to their type. The models for these types are still a work in progress. Sword Goblin Just your average goblin with a sword trying to stab you to death, nothing more and nothing less. Shield Goblin Can take one heck of a beating while he goes around annoying people into attacking him instead of their chosen target. A goblin you can’t forget about… because it won’t let you! Ranged Goblin Will attack you from their towers above, and require ranged attacks to be defeated. These will make archery much more useful! Medic Goblin Attempts to heal nearby damaged goblins getting them back into fighting shape, undoing all your hard work damaging that brute. Rewards from defeating Goblin Camps The main goal of Goblin Camps is to provide a worthwhile (and fun!) way to gain fight skill over 70, and archery skill in general. Killing the goblins inside the camps will give greatly increased skill ticks compared to normal creatures, in both fighting and archery, once completed. After clearing the camp, those who helped will also be able to loot items from around the camp. These items will include new decorations and some other exciting things yet to be revealed! The 5th Annual Luna-Long will be hosted by Dracaa from December 9th through the 19th! Players in the Southern Freedom Isles can travel to Xanadu to attend this event, which is always a good time. To find more information on the Luna-Long, check out Dracaa's post linked below! That's it for the final Exploration Update Part Two sneak peek issues of the Valrei International! We hope to have everything up for testing soon, so you can all check out cartography, holy sites, and goblin camps for yourselves!

Hey guys, Roleplaying in Wurm: Does it even exist? Do you think Wurm would benefit from more of it? Do you play Wurm IC = "in character"? How often do you see other people roleplaying? Would you like to try, but just never do because you don't see others roleplaying? Do you think we've been seeing more RP after Steam launch and if so, why do you think that is? What things do you think the dev team could do, to promote roleplay more in Wurm? More emotes? More animations? More outfits? Do you think we should have a section in the forums dedicated to roleplaying? So RP:ers could find each other, agree on events, RP hotspots etc? Should we have an optional RP chat tab that could be turned on and off from profile settings? (much like the new international help channel) Should we have an optional voice chat system that could be used for roleplay? Should we have an optional [RP] tag in our names, to make it easier for roleplayers to recognize each other? Should we have an optional panel, where we could write our backstories + other info for other roleplayers to read, similar to the RP addons you can get for WoW? These are just some of the questions that Faerran and I will be discussing in tomorrow's Sunday Factional Fight stream. Yes indeedy, you read correctly! Since Adam is away on holiday, Faerran invited me (some of you might know me as KatsPurr) to join him as a guest. Since we are both are RP inclined, we thought this would be the perfect topic to discuss together with you guys. We already have some things in mind to talk about, but we'd love to hear what YOU guys have to say on the topic! So please do share your thoughts both here and on stream, and let's discuss! Factional Fight on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/factionalfight PS: The questions I'm posing in this post, are purely from a player (not a dev) perspective.

I'm considering hosting an impalong, and I'd appreciate advice from those who have hosted, or attended, them. What needs to be provided? What makes a successful gathering? The list so far... Facilities Workshop areas Beds Campground Horse / cart / wagon parking Arena Food/drink Meditation rugs Materials Sacrifice mats for casters Iron and other metals Cotton Leather Wood Stone Clay Supervision/management Trusted individuals who can pick up items around the clock so that no one's gear is stuck overnight Fully trusted individuals who can assign permissions to others Please let me know what I've missed. Also, if you would, let me know how important you think an item is.

Idea is add new color dragon (and armour ofc - scale and hide). We have 3 basic colors: green, blue, red (somebody loves RGB?), and 2 opposites :white and black. My thinking is not RGB, but: 4 gods, 4 elements, 4 colors, something like this: God Element Color Dragon/Armor Vyn Water Blue Mag Fire Red Lib Air/Wind Yellow Fo Eart Green Is could be possible to bring into existence a yellow fellow?

Avast is purestrain garbage, and impossible to remove without reinstalling the computer. And no, it's hard to figure out. It's something that can listen to the entire communication between you and the server, and either inject a package that tells your client to close the connection, or it's the server, or it's something injecting garbage into your client's process (i.e. Avast). Might even be your router, who knows. Try leeching Internet access from someone else for a test, see if that helps. That at least would rule out your own PC.

So I've been trying a bit of Butchering now and I just realized that I kinda misread this. Or it could use a little extra info. Either way... For Butchering and Fileting (this uses a Butchering Knife), definitely full stamina and WoA is the way to go, just like written. All the skill ticks are the same no matter how long the action takes. But after that, you can also Dice and then Mince the meat/filets (this uses a "Knife"), and for that, the skill ticks are bigger with longer action timers. So go ahead and do low stamina and CoC only for Dice and Mince actions using a Knife. thanks for the guide, funny cat avatar man

I'm just here to +1 x ∞ infinity this idea. I absolutely love everything you mapped out about all the instruments, mechanics, skilling, etc., Seriphina. I've thought this would be such a cool idea for a while. Having just stumbled across your post, I have found that you truly are an angel with regard to not only bringing up the concept, but also the angelic way you laid out all these ideas. They all make sense and are very well thought-out. I even love that you have introduced me to a couple of instruments I never knew existed. One reason for my +1 is that games are a great place to live out things we can never/probably won't do in real life. I am never going to be a real-life archeologist, but I am fascinated by archeology. Wurm lets me do this and have the fun of discovery and creation. Growing up, I always wanted to play some kind of instrument at school, but for reasons, that did not happen. I even dabbled around with guitar as a teen. But music/playing instruments is just not one of my real-life skills. Being able to play a bard in Everquest, RIFT, and in LotRO was really a lot of fun for me because of this. If I could have this experience as Seriphina has laid it out, I would be beyond the moon with giddiness. ❤️🌜

Excited to announce that the trade was successful. I ended up having two people contact me with information that directly led to facilitating the trade. A special thank you the Bumbum and Brattygirl A 1.5g finders fee has been paid out to BumBum as he directly facilitated the trade, being so kind as to set up the trade at his deed and working as a fantastic middle man. As Brattygirls information was identical to Bumbum's I will also being paying her out a 1.5g finders fee as well, I had not expected more than one person providing the same information and won't back down on my word over an oversight on my end. Thank you all

Items lose all individuality when put in the bsb and we don't currently/don't plan to support retaining the imp item required. Unfortunately storing individual item information would defeat the technical purpose of the bulk storage. We don't allow putting tool/weapon heads into bulk for this same reason. Abuse vectors arise from allowing forcing of the imp step back to lump or to average ql of items that can be directly converted to tools without ql loss. We allow this to happen on arrows given their drastically more difficult to handle and temporary in nature. However, the smelting pot is intended to resolve the issue of bulk tool heads sitting around. I recently expanded smelting to allow enchanted/runed tools/blades/heads to be smelted. I've put eyelets into consideration but there are technical issues with tiny items that would have to be resolved.

Going to be a bit of an overload (sorry): Events / Games / and the prizes that go with them. Make sure to have a rough schedule and to make sure that impromptu events (held by your staff) are fine, but to not include any of the major prizes. Gift bags. Make sure things like the priests are not upstairs of all the smoke... really - put the forges on the top. Keep all but sleeping in the main building so priests get the max from their sermons. Have a few people (one needs to be staff) dedicated to running and managing the sermon group. Come up with a plan on how you want sermons to run BEFORE you start - and stick with the plan. Of the 10 or so imps I have been to and/helped host, 70% of the drama was from the priests and someone missing a slot or someone jumping in line. Campground & horse parking & boat parking (and imping) & cart/wagon parking (and imping). Try to make the parking nearby so that those folks don't feel left out, and can come back to help with sermons / afk safe spots from arena spillage. Off deed is fine typically. If a dedicated deed, good idea to be able to invite impers to get deed bonus & kick them out once the imp is over. Test and set perms before hand. Enchanting spot. Know what spells are cast by which priest, and what items get what spells. This gets messy. It is often the most confusing for folks looking to get that right mix on their items. A weapon typically gets: CoC, Nim & MS + something like BT or LT + a demise (assuming it isn't going to be acid/frost potioned). That is 5 different bins the person needs to move their weapon to. It gets confusing, fast, particularly for people that don't do it often (like those you typically cater to at imps). Signs and planning and doing a few trial runs help a lot. Similar confusion happens to a lesser extent with blacksmithing and weapon smithing items (cause they ain't confusing at all). Make sure folks know to bring their stuff for IMPING, not for crafting. Usually 1-2 folks are new and have honest mistakes on this, but 2+ are just.... impatient and... well, rude. How you figure out which is which and what you do should be clear up front. Decide on if you are going to allow above 70 imping, and how those mats will be distributed. Wood and leather go slow and always want to imp higher. JS and weaponsmithing is always a backlog. People get impatient for the 2-3 casters to show up. Recommended 70 ql mats for SFI (where we get an imp every 3-4 months, and our imps are 4-5 days long): Clay, stone shards, Marble, slate shards, yarn = 500--1000 Peat (or tar equivalent for fuel) = 1500 (a lot more than you should need, but running out 1/2 through shouldn't be an option) Brass, Bronze, Copper, Tin, Lead, electrum, logs = 2k Gold, Silver, leather (any QL but higher is better) = 2500 Iron, steel, Strings of cloth = 5000 Healing cotton = 20,000 (more if Bel visits a lot) Favor = 1,000,000 at a minimum. Priests are greedy with other peoples favor! If, for example, you have 1000 high ql (90) iron, don't subtract it from the base 5000. That would go in addition to as folks still need to imp to 70 first. There are other fun things that might be interesting - general how to do x,y,z; dye stations, blood mixing, etc. People get downtime at these events also and want to be productive or helpful; 3/4 imps I have been to have had places set up to do a HFC / pan fill setup, but perms were never done so that anybody could ever do so. Brick making, mortar and cordage making are also things people can do and feel useful doing. Food & water convenient for all folks.

Why does it do no good? Because people willfully misinterpret other peoples' positions, setting up "straw men" to knock down easily? I didn't say that only a handful of players should be allowed to participate. I specifically said that was one of the two extremes that was problematic. Slayings are either private/exclusive/elitist — or — there are so many leeching alts that the game slows to a crawl. There should be a happy medium. ... in case you missed it. In fact, I don't think that anyone said slayings should have no sermons, or diversity, or colour. The only people opposed to public events seems to be those who only want small private groups to slay dragons.

I wonder if we're playing the same game. For real. *sarcasm* The fact that every mmo out there , sandbox or not, has its whales should be bloody obvious in 2022. Some games literally build their entire monetization models around whales. As for sandbox or not, what does it matter? The game has goals. Having money makes many of those goals easier. Want to skill up HFC? Buy panfilling with silvers. Want to complete the drake / scale journal goal? Buy a set. Want a faster horse to save time? Buy supreme gear + rare speed trait horse. You forget that many problems NFI has were brought on by SFI players that settled there and took advantage of a new cluster by using knowledge gained from years of playing. Hell , do you even believe for a bloody second that if scale / drake hide wasn't so valuable people wouldn't fight over each other to pen them? Those scales / drake hides are worth a LOT of money. This is one of the issues uniques have. No other way to earn scales other than buying them or being lucky enough to be part of a super-mega unique hunting group that pens and kills 50 dragons per year (which isn't possible anyway, unless they get insanely lucky). Which brings me to my last point. Skills , knowledge mean jack if someone else is just luckier than you.

Hello all, It was recently brought to our attention once again that the bundle pricing in the shop did not make sense. Specifically, the first two bundles offered were priced higher than the combined total of the items sold. This has been rectified as of today. The bundle prices have been reduced to ensure that they are at a discount, even if a small one, as opposed to buying the items individually. It has been said that this was a deceptive practice, and that does not rest well with me. To that end, I've gone back over the last year of transactions and have given a list of players to the GM team. We will be granting 3 days of premium per bundle purchase of the 1-month-5-silver bundle to make good for the extra cost incurred. You will not need to place a ticket or email us as we've already gathered the data from our transaction history. Thank you, and happy Wurming!

I agree that community events are worth a lot more to the player base than private slayings. In fact, I like just about everything about the initial suggestion, except for one thing. Keep the hunting aspect. Let players search for a marker that's less obvious than a beam of light visible from across the server. Make it something like a dragon egg that glows like a meteorite (if a hatchling is going to appear), a smoking/charred carcass of a large animal (for a full dragon), and so on. When a player touches/examines/uses the marker object... start a countdown to the battle trigger the big beam of light (nicely RGB coded) award some unique points to the finder — a significant amount announce the finding in Freedom chat and with a tweet, so that everyone becomes aware of it. If no one discovers the marker within a time limit, let it decay or disappear and another can spawn elsewhere.

I was surprised to learn that a new site was even created. Does the current forum platform not include some form of voting or popularity polling tools/plugins? Everyone is always doing "+1" on suggestion posts. If that was replaced with some kind of button that actually meant something and counted for something that would be great. The back-discussion of the ideas is already here on the forum. If the goal is a meaningful vote instead of a "+1" we should have a button here... on the actual suggestion thread. Possible?
  44. 1 point
This was a great idea in that it allowed staff a way to organize, assess, give status updates, and more, on suggestions given by players. If the website idea isn't working out, couldn't the forums themselves be used for the same purpose? Add a staff and a player vote counter to any suggestion thread (on the back end and/or front), give status updates on approved suggestions right on that thread or on a separate "Suggestions In Progress" page, etc. It seems like the forums could be used for just the same thing the site would have been used for - getting organized and communication of the status of suggestions being worked into the game. And as far as vetting where the votes or suggestions are coming from, forums has a few things that give a good idea of player time with the game, participation, history, etc.
  45. 1 point
If everyone joined in, this might be a useful additional level of abstraction to help you in obtaining data in the format you need, but I fear that in creating yet another website for people to choose to register, you will be seriously reducing the size (and therefore possibly the accuracy/reliability) of your data set. It will never represent the views of people who *just play* without some direct link to vote from within the game. People who play Wurm: People who use the forums regularly: People who want to sign up to yet another website to vote: Just teasing you, I hope your site is successful, but please don't forget the everyday people who *just play* in game and will never get to hear about these suggestions, let alone vote on them.

I'm sorry, but i'm a bit confused abous this system. You always stressed out the fact, in the suggestions subforum that it wasn't important to just +1 stuff, and that accurate feedback and explaining what we liked or not about a certain suggestion was important. And this new systems, that feels way more like a replacement than an addition, aims to really just turn everything into that, which we should have always try to avoid? Let's also add that: - Forum is subject to constant scrutiny from everyone, one cannot just easily make new, fake accounts and +1 his stuff without it looking obvious and ridiculous, while creating anonymous accounts and spamming upvotes here looks like a cakewalk. - There is no way to specify if we like something but not something else about a certain suggestion. - There is no way to say how important we think is important a suggestion is, one might just like an idea but also not think it's a priority, like i felt like writing several times on the forum. - As someone else pointed out above, it requires new account, so probably filters down the partecipating pool of players, shrinking it even more. - Finally, i'll just go into a bit deeper but even more worrying meta: One could just (intentionally or not) suggest something in a poor way, like presented with poor explaination or in an obnoxious way, and that would be it for that suggestion, as duplicates aren't allowed, we get to stick with the first but poor version of it because it's not possible to duplicate or improve upon it?...
  47. 1 point
Not sure why a registration requires name. Is that real name, will it be checked? So far, Wurm waived any check of player identity, left that to the payment process thoroughly kept out of the reach of Wurm company. Get me right, it is not general mistrust, but I am hesitant to leave traces anywhere on the internet (which is why I shun the Google, Facebook, Twitter and similar mafias).

How about something that gives life to forests and makes it feel realistic? Birds. We have no flying birds in Wurm. We can ocassionally see an eagle circling but that's about it. Seas and beaches should have seagulls. Forests should have woodpeckers. Deeds and bigger places should have sparrows and pidgeons. Can even make em partially interractive by dropping seeds for them to have them perch on your walls or statues or rooftops.
