Those poor horsies and other animals that get diseased and go unnoticed until they fall over dead.... Is it possible to give them some identifying feature like flies around them, a greenish haze cloud around them or something visual which does not need a mouseover to determine their status? (Similar to how ripe fruit shows on trees as a visual prompt that it can be harvested.)

The bug post gave me an idea. Add another slot to saddles for a bedroll which attaches it to the horse. Could look pretty cool. True maybe it's not worth the devtime, but would be a neat little touch.

What if - and hear me out - what if this was something the gm team did with the intention of having a little fun with the playerbase? I know it's insane to think, but it could be that there's a ton of items sitting on golven valley, through confiscation, bans, anything of the sort, and the gm team thought it might be a fun little event to auction them off? I don't think there's an ulterior motive the gm team aren't the ones in charge of the economy, and there's a billion better ways to do it than auction these items off. Its clearly just for a bit of fun.

I've heard several audio environments, depending on the surrounding area: grassy, steppe, mountain... I think that's it. Apparently, "grassy" comes in two different flavors, but one of them is rare. The other flavor is regular birdsong when you're out and about amongst grassy plains. The last time I've come upon the rare kind of birdsong was a few years ago, when I was in a very lush, densely flowered meadow, next to several beehives. The birdsong changed to something blissful. Why is this so rare, and how do I recreate this on my deed?

Make master cape able to bandage big wounds. Its by far the hardest journal in the game and kings can already do this so its not like its too strong by any means. Pretty sure all who grinded it already assumed it could do this too.

It would be nice to have a woodshed the size of a 1x1 building that you cannot enter but open it up like a BSB to store logs in. Not sure if it is doable, but would be nice.

Today I noticed that the 1.5 checkpoint of Stable Diffusion was out and it was time to play with it again. It occurred to me to try heightmaps. Most of the time I got 3d maps, which weren't useful in spite of being pretty: I found that I was getting quite decent results when I left out keywords that would change it to grayscale: But of course I needed it to be grayscale. Then I thought about ways to salvage these images. I tried using this one: I loaded it up into GIMP and I: 1. Reduced saturation to zero (turns into grayscale) 2. Inverted colors so that lighter is higher 3. Resized it to 1024x1024 (would need to be whatever size the map will be) 4. Gaussian blurred it to smooth it out 5. Fixed the edges with a soft black brush 6. Saved as 16-bit grayscale And this was the result: All those steps were very straightforward and didn't require any careful thought. I put this into Wurm Generator FX: I didn't spend much time on this but I believe it is a solid proof of concept. If you want to try generating height maps, you can use Stable Diffusion either on your own pc (if you know how to code in python and have an NVIDIA graphics card) or on one of the sites that offer free daily credits, such as nightcafe.studio. All Stable Diffusion requires as an input is words. So for example, the prompts I used were: heightmap continents grayscale heightmap fantasy continents grayscale heightmap fantasy island 16-bit grayscale heightmap, fantasy continent, 16-bit grayscale tangram heightmap, fantasy island continent, black and white Every prompt will create something different (and even the same prompt will create something different if you use a different seed, but changing the prompt is more likely to change the structure of the image).

Dreadfull weather. I can feel it in my bones. I am certified meat free. Did you know? Gimme some milk! More calcium! The pearly whites need quite a bit of brushing. We were going to fry some onions for dinner but we run out of skull-ions. Still plenty of life in those bones, better believe this.

Took a Bedroll out of saddlebag along with 12 cotton when starting Rift. After Rift I tried putting bedroll back into empty saddle bags and got an error message . [08:29:38] A bedroll won't fit in some saddle bags. This was the same saddlebag I had taken it out from. Note: the saddlebag has no runes on it. The bedroll has [09:20:14] A zinc rune of Libila has been attached, so it will reduce weight (10%).

Sigvard: "why are graveyards so noisy? Because of all the coffin"
  26. 1 point
My point is: Increasing the weight of the cloak will allow it to cover large wounds without changing the code. The other way to get the desired effect would be to add some special case code of the form "if(exact description of problem scenario) then (do the right thing) else (insert previous code here)" which is the textbook definition of spaghetti code. One of these is a clean, simple, data change. The other is much higher risk, requires new code, and complicates and slows down existing code — every time someone tries to bandage a wound, the game needs to check if they're using a cloak. Be careful what you wish for.

Sooner the better! I voted for the 2AM EST option. It's not exactly going to be a "land grab" scenario like the opening of a new server in WO, where first people in get the best spots from a somewhat limited selection. Even with initial four starter islands, there will be plenty of time to get your character started, maybe work on some skills in the spawn zone, maybe work together on some community resources, before starting to work on boats to get to other isles. Also these won't be long term settlements for anyone due to the wipe before the official Jan 1 opening.

Interestingly, Sigvard's utterances can be seen from quite some distance away, and do not show up in Local chat. (I am therefore going from memory on the following, as cut and paste from logs isn't an option.) "Don't mind me, just hanging out." "I used to be an adventurer like you." "What are you looking at meatbag?"

They could put the confiscated stuff in a loot table that is connected to the the upcoming goblin camps. It would be a nice lore-friendly way to recycle stuff back into the game.

I'll be transparent about this and say that I wasn't quite ready for this to go public for a couple of weeks yet. I think a couple of GM's may have misunderstood something I said a week or two ago, or Keenan may have even talked to them and I have not seen the memo. I have been bugged for years by players to do this for whatever reason, and it's not too bad of an idea really, but there are still some details that need fleshed out on what items to auction, where to auction, etc. Right now the only official stance I have is that the staff will NOT be directly benefiting from the proceeds. My original idea was to simply account for and remove those irons from the economy. There was never any underhanded intentions with any of this, but we have ended up with a lot of items that were not made by any nefarious means. Yes, outright destruction remains a possibility for most of the items we have hoarded from irrecoverable banned accounts over the decades, but we are always coming up with ideas to use the items for events and other more natural ways to deal with them rather than just deletion. I suppose I could just hatch a pet volcano named Lavvy to feed it all to. /Enki (Head Game Master)

I am pleased to announce that I have developed some map fixing functions. One of the issues I have had with the map generators is that I can't seem to load the map files back into them to make changes without just redoing the whole thing, and the exact changes I want to make aren't straightforward to make. So here's the post generation fixes I can apply for you if you need: Smoothing out the map (I average each tile with neighbour tiles N times, you tell me what N should be - just 1 is usually enough to remove ugly spikes). Spawning one type of tile (biome) on another type of tile with a particular frequency of 1 patches in N tiles. So there's two useful things happening here: 1. You can set tiles to appear only on particular other tiles such as only spawning tar on sand. 2. You can ensure that there will be a certain percentage of those tiles that have the resulting patches. Currently I've just been spawning patches of 1 and 4 but it will be easy enough to add the ability to spawn larger, messier patches that spread in random directions the way the generators do, if you want this functionality. Removing all of a particular tile, replacing with nearest other tile type. Useful if you realise you want the tile types to be added more intelligently with the above functionality. Adding sand to near water level, except around Marsh (or other tiles you don't want to have beaches). Scaling all tiles above water except for one tile type (or the inverse). This might seem a strange thing to want to do but I used this to flatten out my landmass while leaving the volcano towering above them. Finally, this isn't something that is useful for our 1k maps but I'd be happy to help you do this for other maps: merge 4 maps together into one larger size map.
