I come today to ruin any market for Halloween combat drop items*. I am sorry. 1 per character, just post what you want, first come first serve. SFI only of course, and you'll be charged just for mail cost. *Doesn't include faceless masks sadly. Sorry! A big thank you to @Aeris too for donating some of the minion masks!

Well there I was just taking care of some business on deed, listening to the crunch and crackle of bones and feeling very much at home. Until it happened. I was riding by and Sigvard spoke. He said: šŸ’€ "Bone-jour!" And I nearly fell off my horse. Not only do these bags of bones speak, but they also think they're comedians. And now I love them even more and am trying to collect all the goofy little things they say. If you spot a new saying, post it here!

Adding upkeep chips adds to the total silver pool in your coffers. It isn't 56s + 9s upkeep chips, it's actually 47s + 9s upkeep chips in your case. You can easily test this by adding a single chip and see it adds to the total. Before deposit: [11:57:14] You pay 1 copper in village upkeep chips to the upkeep fund of Magranon's Menagerie. After deposit:

So... it has been a months-long joke in our alliance that I hate chestnut chairs. Ever since @maximusifound a load on an abandoned deed and started hoarding them in our community warehouse, I have made it my mission in alliance chat to insult chestnut chairs at every available opportunity. Well, the chairs finally caught up with me. This is what I saw when I logged in today. SO MANY CHAIRS THEY. ARE. EVERYWHERE. I've been reliably informed there are a total of 1001. Credit where credit is due - my alliance banded together for a big time prank Had me pretty much laughing on the floor when I logged in. Such an absurdly high-effort prank. It's difficult to even capture them all in one screenshot, they are EVERYWHERE.

Looks like deed upkeep consumes both chips and silver (doubling the deed cost) when it suppose to prioritize and only consume chips when available. The monthly cost is 2 silver, 1 copper and 60 iron. 2022-09-26 2022-11-14 in about 50 day period, upkeep consumed 3s+ in upkeep chips and 3s+ in silver (6s+ combined) while it should have only cost ~3s+ in upkeep chips

Something looks wrong, either the auction ends on Monday the 14th at 12 CET (which is in 1 hour, 39 mins at the time of posting this), or in 1 Day 1 hour on the 15th? Which one is correct? This first auction ends at 1200 CET on November 14th.

What if - and hear me out - what if this was something the gm team did with the intention of having a little fun with the playerbase? I know it's insane to think, but it could be that there's a ton of items sitting on golven valley, through confiscation, bans, anything of the sort, and the gm team thought it might be a fun little event to auction them off? I don't think there's an ulterior motive the gm team aren't the ones in charge of the economy, and there's a billion better ways to do it than auction these items off. Its clearly just for a bit of fun.

Shouldn't it be up to those players if that data is imported to Wurmnode? Seems weird to just add random public accounts to a whole new site without permission.

My thoughts is that if a gold sink to remove coin from the game is one of the ideas behind this, there are many other ideas that I think that would benefit the community as a whole. I don't like the idea of the GMs/Devs holding auctions, as it feels like us the players are now in direct competition with the makers of the game. Time will tell if there are any economic issues that come up. For example, I know there have been 4 different rare forges advertised via trade on NFI in the last week, by the dev team adding their items for sale, one being a rare forge, is that going to have an effect on the players trying to sell their items. There are current ship builders who struggle to sell ships that they spend good time on crafting, but now there is a Caravel up for auction from the GMs/Devs. A one time auction may not have any effect on these players, but it was made clear in the auction post that this will not be a one time auction, and if I as a ship builder or seller of other items, am now having to compete with items that the GMs/Devs are posting for sale, not just my fellow players, then what is the point of me trying to sell these items myself. To me it is a grey area that I don't think the GMs/Devs should be involved in. If you want a proper gold sink, then be creative and make one that will do what you want, it is well known that people will shell out good coin for cosmetics, there are thousands of suggestions of different skins or ideas for new items, all that can be added to merchants. I understand the desire to get some old items back into the community, but that should be done in a way that will not have an effect on your paying customers that play the game and spend thousands of hours to get their skills up to be able to craft and do certain things. A ship builder who is able to make and sell caravels should not have to worry about the GMs/Devs trying to sell the very items that he has put the time into being able to craft. It can be demoralizing to a player that has grinded up the needed skills to make a ship, the sails, the large crates and the such, just to find that the GMs/Devs are selling the very item that he just spend the last 6 months making. Demoralized players don't play and don't pay and don't return to the game, and that is a bad thing. There are Imp a longs now on both clusters every year, these items can be given away at random to those that attend, there are countless other ways to get these items back into the community without making the players feel disenfranchised in the process. In the end, these auctions create competition that is not organic and I don't feel should be in this sandbox game. Just my two cents. Happy Wurming

Do you want to believe? Hi everyone, Madnath again. After the last thread got dumpstered, Iā€™m going to take a different approach to this one to ensure I donā€™t get on anyones bad side again. Satire will be clear and marked as such, and cut down on. This post does aim to get the truth across, just in a silly-ish kinda way. Edit 23/03/2023 A developer passed comment on the thread and the systems that are touched on here. I highly suggest reading the post linked below first, and then coming back to this post. While the new post does an okay summary, the information in this post is a lot more detailed. https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/191325-the-v-files-the-rolls-are-out-there/page/3/&tab=comments#comment-1949142 Part 1: The Lead Up As you may be expecting, what really started this off is the recent exploration update. If somehow you donā€™t know, rare rolls on certain actions will now give a treasure map. This has got a lot of people attempting to farm rare rolls to get maps whenever possible, and as you probably expect, a lot of people frustrated they arenā€™t getting them. But what if weā€™re all going about it wrong? Surely this type of thing would be well known and documented by now, right? Wellā€¦ Part 2: Realization & Research This all kicked off initially with Nineol. You may know him as the madlad behind a fair few 100 titles and an insane skill record on Niarja, alongside always being there at Stanlee slays, working hard to ensure things go smoothly. Nineol is well versed in the game and a lot of its mechanics, including something important here, knowing how to farm rare items via crafting. If youā€™re not familiar with it, you can read much more about it in Oblivionnreaverā€™s ā€œgrindin everythingā€ thead in the Game Guides subforum. Itā€™s formatted really badly, much like this thread is. But in summary, you do a single craft or imp every 25 seconds or so with full deed rarity window, you can expect a rare every 2 hours and a supreme every 24 hours, of course the wait time for these essentially lower with the more accounts you can have doing it. Just be warned that trying to do this with more than 5 accounts will result in a similar APM and RSI to a Starcraft 2 pro. Anyway, Nineol got to work on update day as he was eager to try the update on live and get some cool loot. The desire to take a break from grinding must have really set in. He set about to have his main on a tar patch digging away, while he also had 2 priests praying, 1 mining and another digging. Using the logic above, he expected to get a rare roll about every 2 hours across all accounts, getting him a nice haul of maps. Well, what happened? He got one rare roll the entire day. He tried again the next day. And the day after. Same results both times. Nineol starts to question his sanity at this point. A lot of questions just racing through his mind. Has Rolf returned purely to mess with the Niarja number 1? Did he expect there to be a treasure hunting skill that he simply must get 100 in? Have the invisible duck contrails messed with the rarity system? This is a big thing, it has the potential to rock the Wurm world. We must dig deeperā€¦. END OF SATIRE. So Nineol decides to take a look in his event log, to see if heā€™s maybe overlooking something about the rare rolls. There must be something, right? Right. Thereā€™s a realization that all but one rare roll came from the first action in a queue. Curious. So he sends a message out to Stanlee and others, and they all return a very similar result. Most of their actions are coming from the first in the queue and not the rest, with only a few exceptions here and there. At this point, Stanlee contacts myself and Oblivionnreaver due to his extensive knowledge. However it seems that Oblivionnreaver didnā€™t respond so was unable to get any player based confirmation of whatā€™s being seen. Things go silent for a few days. Until Stanlee contacts me again. He lets me know that Nineol has switched up how heā€™s trying to get the rare rolls based on the findings detailed, and it works. Very bloody well, as heā€™s now finished the treasure hunting journal already. Part 3. Conclusion & Notes At this point weā€™re very comfortable saying this is pretty much confirmed, given the solid evidence behind it. A dev reply to this thread confirming or denying it seems quite unlikely given how impactful this info can be to the general playerbase. Players could most likely try this themselves and verify it if they give it enough patience. You might get shafted on RNG with this, itā€™s the nature of the game but what we have documented is VERY telling, while also a bit too much to post in a single thread. If you want a shorter digest on how rarity windows work, hereā€™s a very rough rundown. At basically any moment, a rare trigger can happen which causes a rare window. This is by default 20 seconds, but can be upped to 30 seconds via deed rarity bonus. If you input an action within that time, the action becomes rare and the rarity window ends immediately. What weā€™ve gathered from the above info, is that all the actions done in a queue are done at the initial input time when you queued them up. This means a rarity window can happen in the time youā€™re doing queued actions, and that rarity window will pass because youā€™ve not technically inputted within that time even though youā€™re doing actions. Oh, and guess what? Thereā€™s a long list of things that will also immediately snap that rarity window closed. Including trying to do an imp action with the wrong tool. You can read about it in slightly more depth below. https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/183756-rarity-windows-get-consumed-by-actions-that-dont-go-through/ EDIT: Staggering your input queue works too, but when you queue actions it uses the imput time and not when the action itself started. See spoiler below for an example. Thank you Shy for providing this. Iā€™m sorry this thread is rather dry on humor, but itā€™s pretty hard to make some important info like this funny. I hope those of you who bother to read this in full, or even partly, found it helpful and will use it to get some proper actions going and nice new rare items. And remember, the truth is out there.

Sooner the better! I voted for the 2AM EST option. It's not exactly going to be a "land grab" scenario like the opening of a new server in WO, where first people in get the best spots from a somewhat limited selection. Even with initial four starter islands, there will be plenty of time to get your character started, maybe work on some skills in the spawn zone, maybe work together on some community resources, before starting to work on boats to get to other isles. Also these won't be long term settlements for anyone due to the wipe before the official Jan 1 opening.

    1. Regarding One Tile Mining: One Tile Mining is actually something I wanted to add but it threw server errors on server startup yesterday so it is currently gone. The rest of the mods I currently have seem to be working fine. Here are the interesting mods: Better Digging (Dig to ground, use vehicles to dig, etc) Crop Mod (No crop decay) Fire Burn Time (See remaining burn time) Harvest Helper (see upcoming seasons) Move Mod (faster movement) Timed Pay (get money just by being online as I mentioned in the settings) Wyvern Anti Cheat (anti Xray, the anti ESP module is not enabled for performance reasons. Anti Xray has been tested and it works.) 2. Regarding bulk separated and bulk transfer: Players will get to vote on many mods during beta but let me begin by putting my foot down on one matter: We are simply not going to be messing with the vanilla storage system: I consider the vanilla storage system to be nicely balanced with good tradeoffs between storage types I'm not sure Bulk Transfer even accomplishes anything anymore? In vanilla WU, you can transfer hundreds between crates, bsbs, and wagon crate/bsbs with a single click There's perfectly reasonably workarounds (like just crafting more bsbs if you need separation) and the remaining limitations aren't at all game-breaking Most mod bugs just result in lost functionality, an error in the server log and you simply remove the mod; meanwhile, storage mod bugs are much more likely to be apocalyptic, and it seems even the Bulk Transfer mod is not immune 3. Regarding Salves labelled with their power and Disable Fog Spiders: Up to Beta players. Not too bothered but I am not personally convinced these are necessary. There will be a vote on this during Beta. 4. Regarding AshProduce and SimpleConcrete: Up to Beta players. I have good memories of filling massive areas with Runescape-levels amounts of campfires to fund my rock manipulation activities. This provided a rare usefulness for the Firemaking skill. There will be a vote on this during Beta. 5. Regarding post boxes and religion: There will be a vote on both during Beta, and they aren't mutually dependant. We can have mail without religion with the No Mail Cost mod that places a Courier enchant on them when they are spawned, and we can have religion without mail by disabling the Courier spell via the Spellcraft mod. If you are wondering: Why the hell would anyone not want mail? The answer is that without it, the distances between places becomes more meaningful and ships become more used. But I'll leave that up to players in the Beta. And the reason for no religion is: I personally enjoy a more pure feudal simulation, and LowKeyTrixter can't take advantage of the in-game religion for personal reasons. But that also will be at the mercy of Beta players. Just remember: fun depends on limitations. Sometimes removing a limitation can make the game less interesting and sometimes adding one can make it interesting in a way you hadn't even considered before. But this server is not about forcing challenging gameplay on players so we'll just see what Beta players want.

Saw @Berris/Jennykellon and Dentarthur (irl friends of mine I'd met some years before through LARP) posting screenies on social media of their brand spankin' new deed on Release around New Years, a week or so after the server opened, and was immediately like 'What is that? I want that.' They invited me to come play, told me where to get the game and what server to join etc and I was so eager to get in, I had downloaded it, shot through the tutorial and was already chopping trees and hoarding logs like a noob around Sloping Sands before they even got home from work for the day. Was super reluctant to part with my brand new stack of logs and tried swimming to get away from a spider with a full inventory and we all know how that goes. After a couple of abortive attempts to find their deed myself, I made a campfire on the shore where I could watch out for wandering eight-legged threats and cooked some meat I'd found on someone else's abandoned mob-kill and waited super impatiently for someone to come online. Dentarthur ran all the way to Sloping Sands (on foot, no horses or boats yet) to find me late that evening, persuaded me to leave my precious logs behind, and then led me on a running/swimming/mob-dodging sprint back down the shore of spawn lake with wolves and spiders and bear sharks on our heels. It took forever. I remember the palpable sense of relief and cosy-homeness I felt when we finally made it safely onto their little deed (Poolsclosed, which is still there after all this time). Berris mostly did (and still does) play on Indy so gave me free rein to try all the different skills out with their stuff, build whatever buildings I liked etc. I learned how to dodge trolls on the steppe (who were tall green slender man-like things then), made myself a load of horse tack and then realised I wouldn't be able to ride a horse without premium, so I premmed up, started skilling up towards horse riding, knocked up a small inn and a cottage for myself and started bringing chooks and bison home off the steppe and... that was it. That was me hooked. Had me at 'build houses and bring home chickens' tbh, and honestly that's still what most of my Wurm-life is spent doing

Itā€™s always unfortunate when we have to remove a player, but these actions are taken to protect both the game and the community. Whatā€™s more, these people sometimes return anew, either looking for a second chance or seeking to return to their old ways. Regardless of the reason for their return, we will ban these players on sight unless the GM team has pardoned them. Today we discovered a tangible link between the player Bloodreina and an account permanently banned 8 years ago for disruptive behavior. I want to stress that we did not act upon this person because of any recent comment they made on the forums. I welcome opinions of all kinds, even if I disagree with them. Itā€™s how we learn and grow as individuals and how we can make Wurm Online even better. Iā€™m making this post to ensure that this community remains comfortable sharing their opinions respectfully and civilly. I have heard from many of you over the last year, some disagreeing with me, others with ideas and ways to improve the game. Having this open line of communication is essential, and I do not want a coincidence such as this to impede that in any way. That said, I hope you all continue enjoying the Halloween event. Happy Wurming!

Bloodreina, from what I have read, you seem to be an analytical person. So let's analyse this problem... analytically. It is true that you have tried many measures to solve your predicament, but all these measures have something in common: they are all within the scope of the Northern Freedom Isles cluster. Now, having never been on NFI myself, I cannot definitively say that the problem lies with the fact that you play on the NFI cluster. But based on the inputs of so many other people across several of your forum posts, perhaps it could be the problem. I understand that you have already invested a not-insignificant amount of time and money on your NFI character, but seeing as though you value the social aspect of the game so much, it may be a worthwhile sacrifice to make. That is, create a fresh character and play on SFI. Even though I could not speak towards the "badness" of NFI (because I've never been there), I can definitely speak about the "goodness" of SFI, based on my own personal experiences. I am honoured to be in an alliance that is talkative, humourous, and generous. I've even gushed about it in a recent forum post (see last post). This "goodness" holds especially true for Xanadu as it's just so damn big and populated! My alliance stretches over a vast swathe of the server. If you decide to move to SFI, I think you will get your best-of-both-worlds experience, that is, both the "Wurm" and "Online" part of Wurm Online.
