    Xanadu went down for about an hour and twenty minutes. The cause was memory-related. As part of our upgrade in Java, we went with a newer memory management scheme. This happens to use more memory to provide better performance, but it was consuming too much memory. We scaled back to a previous management scheme and tuned the memory allotment to fix the issue and will continue to monitor the situation. I'll make another post with these details and information on sleep bonus for the downtime in the next few days. I'd like to observe the server running for a full 48 hours before I do.

    We are looking into this. Edit: Desertion is now available to play on. Our Halloween stuff starts on the 28th, will be more on that later this week.

    The sleep bonus would be for everyone in general for the issues as of late and any upgrade pains we see as we continue to work on these issues. Glad to hear that they seem to be having a positive impact though.

    Again, you're raising veteran player issues against an item aimed at helping new players. It's not frustrating to be able to hold onto a new player item for longer, just like starter tools. your body strength is likely higher than a new players by at least .5, meaning the weight of the item is negligible.

    I'd love an update to merchants that showed what was sold. It would be much easier than going through my lists to try to compare, but for now I guess we keep spreadsheets outside of wurm. The idea of seeing who was shopping I don't love... It's cool if people want to window shop and not have to be worried about being bothered with sales calls, but some sort of statistics would be cool, like how many shoppers in 14 days. Further, if we could treat the merchant inventory like any other container to sell items in sets or logical containers that would be great. A backpack of armor isn't unreasonable or game breaking. A satchel of sprouts would be awesome, a book with pages would be AMAZING. Please please make it so. Sure people use them as cheaper storage sometimes, but so what? Dressing merchants I can get behind if it's not possible to recover the clothing from the merchant afterward. Otherwise you're just storing armor/clothing for later with no decay. Obviously let us try the outfit on them first to make sure it would look good before finalizing.

    Should be able to change their gear/clothing/colors so they don't all look the same.

    I'd personally prefer if starter tents and crafted tents weigh the same. That fix is probably better for the game than making a fix that would turn gimmick game play such as making alts to continously trade tents the way to play the game...

    Server Changelog Bugfix: Fixed crates and other bulk containers sometimes being marked as “busy” forever after transferring bulk items, preventing them from being moved. Bugfix: Various fixes to lighting and fires.All lighting and related effects will now move properly when an item such a fireplace or campfire is pushed, pulled, or placed. Snuffing a campfire will now properly remove related effects. Open fireplaces will properly go dark when becoming unlit due to running out of fuel. Furnace fire lighting effects (for forges, ovens, etc.) will now more reliably adjust their color and brightness as the furnace runs lower on fuel. The “fire is fading” warning message will now more reliably appear. At very low temperature/fuel, examining a fire would tell you it was not lit even though it was. Examine will now display a new, more helpful message under those circumstances instead. When placing already-lit items on top of other items, or in some other circumstances such as renaming them, the light could become far brighter than intended. This has been fixed. Painted light sources, such as lamps, will no longer appear painted when placed on other objects, having only colored light instead, to be consistent with how they normally appear in-game. Light sources placed on other items will more reliably change their displayed name when lit or snuffed, and when their temperature changes. Client Changelog Bugfix: Glow-runed items will now emit light properly when placed on top of other items.

I don't know if ya'll check for duplicates, but that would be great if that could not happen.# Steps to reproduce Build enough towers for your RNG to produce a duplicate or create separate Java project with same method. run it like a few hundred times, or something.

    ?????????????????? [15:41:14] This is the standard tent for military actions. This is a very rare and interesting version of the item. It is locked with a lock of fantastic quality. The name of the owner, Madnath, has been etched on a pole. [15:41:14] A zinc rune of Libila has been attached, so it will reduce weight (10%) ???????????????????? Gems to augment the tent seems really god damn silly. I wouldn't mind a reinforcement for the tent being made that can be added later, but good lord don't make them need to be made from moonmetal.

    If they aren't meant to last, then they should have a count down timer like the food and agro range buffs. If we could have crafted tents weigh .5kg, then I'm all for crafted tents. Losing an item that you can't ever get back, but is possible to hang onto for more than a decade is frustrating. Regardless of how it was originally intended. Maybe make the bigger tents "bindable" by a group of alts, to justify the 5x weight over a starter tent? Would love to just bring a single tent to a hunt.

    Are you in windowed mode or fullscreen mode? Mine looks like that. I play in windowed resizable, but once I maximize the window, it gets to where I can see everything.

    Setup an oauth service that uses the game account. Then you can link any service to it, and even offer 3rd parties to not use local db. Some users might use same passwords multiple places, even tho that is internet 101 not to do. This way, you can have suggestion site for sub members only, and eliminate both 1st and 3rd party account security issues, plus much more

    Yeah, I gotta give this a big thumbs up. The single item/tile restrictions are annoying. Beds, tapestries, kilns, smelters, etc. Don't see the reason behind this restriction.

    Like i posted on the other thread, i didn't really like a few of the things that this new system implied, and it was obviously very abusable, but i really think that the roadmap-from-suggestions idea was nice and a cool way to show how many changes actually came from the community and a sign that the devs are reading and considering them. I tried to think how this could be made more manageable and foolproof, and these are my ideas: - Disable free submissions of just "any" suggestion, require suggestions to first go through at least a few days of forum-trial, require a link to the discussion about that suggestion on the suggestion subforum. (as many people already did anyway) -- Also make sure that if the suggestion seems like a duplicate, at least there's some substantial difference from already made submissions, i wouldn't rely on submitting-people to check that autonomously. - Require a description of the idea that should be a sum up of both the original idea and all the other ideas that have been threw in the thread to "improve" on that suggestion and that the OP liked. - Maybe add a requirement to have a few interactions in that suggestion thread, like a fixed number of "likes" or "replies" to the thread of the suggestion in order to be eligible for submission, so that unsubstantial or uninteresting suggestions cannot make it to the list. - Make accounts bound to forum accounts (without requiring another registration), remove anonymous voting, so that it's easier to check that no fake votes have been submitted (Ok, fixing the registration bypass is obviously an issue, but one could also easily register multiple time with "legitimate" different emails and that would also be hard-to-detect cheating.) - Once this has been made, publicize the website on client, so that more "casual" players that usually don't look at forum can look at already filtered and "decent" suggestions and vote upon them. - Include downvotes, NOT subtracting from upvotes, but keep seperate count of up and down-votes , knowing how popular or unpopular a suggestion can be is probably more important than just knowing the difference between up and down. - Keep the roadmap as it was, as it looked really nice and obviously keep the evaluating system as you best see fit.

    If everyone joined in, this might be a useful additional level of abstraction to help you in obtaining data in the format you need, but I fear that in creating yet another website for people to choose to register, you will be seriously reducing the size (and therefore possibly the accuracy/reliability) of your data set. It will never represent the views of people who *just play* without some direct link to vote from within the game. People who play Wurm: People who use the forums regularly: People who want to sign up to yet another website to vote: Just teasing you, I hope your site is successful, but please don't forget the everyday people who *just play* in game and will never get to hear about these suggestions, let alone vote on them.

    So while voting here is great, the forums are only a small part of the player base and can seriously get it wrong, for the vast majority of Wurm players. Creating a new Suggestions Forum is probably not a great idea, as it will probably be just a portion of the people from here that sign up for it and use it, so you now have an even smaller sampling of the Wurm population. I for one don't want YET ANOTHER web page to log into and repeatedly check for wurm related stuff. Every login I make is yet another bit of personal data I have to stick out there for a data breach. So I'll probably just voice my suggestions here and opinions here. Best thing about this thread is the mention of Roadmaps. TYTY! Hopefully I'll be able to see those updates as links within the forums here and not get blocked by a signin requirement. If you REALLY want to reach the player base, make it part of the UI and have a popup on login that direct users to a new suggestion for voting, or new roadmap release. Yes, you have an issue of wealthy players voting their 20 prem accounts, but honestly, that is still far better than the forums sampling you will get, which would be far more unbalanced. I'll PM you a thought I have that may help illustrate my point.

    When I started, I was intimidated by the different fan-devs out there that made cool stuff, and knew all the stuff I had no idea about. Around the forums, I see hints about people wanthing different things, and some even start some open source projects. I am so happy there is still motivation around to create cool stuff for Wurm! So, if you are a dev / designer, and have ideas that you feel that I am now one of these intimidating people, let it be known that is not the case! I would love to see a community of fans working together, to create good tools, fancy art, music, all sorts of things related to Wurm! Please hook me up, even if it is just for a chatter about any Wurm Online related fan dev stuff, does not have to be related to WurmNode, and I have zero issues with people making alternative sites! Where can I be of any help / aliance? I can help writing Open source JavaScript (vanilla, nodejs, browser, electron, no frameworks) / php / xml / xsl, and I can now thanks to a lot of help from @Warlanderhelp a little with open source Unity projects. If you do not want to go open source path, and want to run a little site for eg a private aliance, etc, maybe we could make some core parts into a fansite creation kit? I dunno… Just wanted to share a bit, so hopefully any person that might be interested would feel very confident to get in touch! Together, we can make way better things than I can do alone. I am sorry that I myself is not good at reaching out, so this is my attempt of at least letting people the door is open. Easiest to reach me is via discord, you can find me in the Wurm Online server

    Well, it's been fun. Niarja has been around since...at least 2015? I think a simplified version existed before then, but it's hard to remember now. I played Wurm at a very different time in my life. That's over now - I have no interest in the game, have no idea what's going on, and probably couldn't name a single developer if I tried. Niarja is very cheap to run (free) but there are still responsibilities such as performing security and backend upgrades on a regular basis. I've kept it running for 4-5 years past my "don't care" point, but I'm done now. I'm still very impressed by how many people have enjoyed the tool and talk about it on the forums or in the official Wurm Discord. It's going away, but I'm confident someone will be able to create a new and better version that has all the features I never bothered adding. All aspects of Niarja.com will shut down on October 1st, 2022. If you've used Niarja Skill Compare before, your "Manage Characters" page now contains a link to download all of your skill uploads into a single CSV file. Whatever tool exists in the future should be able to consume that file and get you caught up.

    Personally, I do not only regret that you are leaving (think about, you will be missed), but honestly do not see the point. An auction is absolutely dominated by the auctionator. If you decide to abort an auction, it is gone. If you decide to exclude a bidder, s/he is out. If you decide to completely ignore the auction outcome, so will it be. And if something is in doubt, best would be to repeat the auction. Better a week wasted than a life in Wurm gone. Of course, deliberately messing with auctions will undermine the reputation of an auctionator, so it is an unwise move and overwhelmingly frowned upon. In this case, did you consider possible DST changes over the course of the auction? They may have caused inconsistencies without anyone lying or cheating, and honestly, I am inclined to believe Erhid as much as you. So sleep a night or two over the decision.

    that would be interesting the abilty to access them without opening the rack, but i would be happy with the standard open barrel rack access barrels x-) the example picture was exactly that pure example. i did a search and didn't pull up much in a detailed manner so i made the post
