Allow anyone with sufficient deed perms, or the mayor(if allowing anyone with deed perms is too much) to push boats that are moored, wagons/cart-types-that-are-hitched, around ondeed. Intent here is there is a considerable number of tickets that have to be put in to get us(the GM Team) to come move hitched/moored vehicles to offdeed locations because they are unable to be moved by anyone on the deed. (Before anyone says it, the griefing potential is minimal here, as someone who nefariously blocks off someone's vehicle would be subject to GM intervention on behalf of the owner of said vehicle in the first place).

Took only ten years I been in wurm on and off since 2006. Started again for real early 2012. Started fresh with Moogien same day as Celebration opened Settled same day or day after , the area did not have one single flat tile and rockcliff slopes to water. It is still looking rough and ugly. While working with the deed making flat areas , i met a player riding a hell horse. From that moment i decided to be able tame and ride a Hell horse, 1 or 2 years later about i was there, animal taming 70 and body control 31. Dropped taming for years , then suddenly decided skill it to 90, yet again dropped it a while, and then decided go all way to 100. Now im almost there 1 more tick Title : is decided , need to get it approved if its still free to choose, please no spoilers. also a friend that doesnt like wurm but do play other games, brainstormed the title and the very very few that knows it say it is pretty good. Can not decide if let it be known or not, lol I started count food used for the ticks at a late stage to see actions done. the curve : Edited curve sep 20 added dates for the skillticks

Recently I have noticed that staffs do not have signatures on them. There's many reasons you'd want a signature on your staff, because the staff is an incredible weapon, and it's very widely used across the playerbase, even by staff. Now that raises a good point, as stuff with the signatures of staff are very saught after! Now how would you feel if you did a random enkounter, and got a staff from Enki, basically the head of staff, and that staff didn't have his signature. The world needs staffs with staff signatures, because a staff staff without the staff signature isn't a staff staff anymore, it's just a staff, and that stuff is surely not as cool as a staff staff. In general all the staff stuff should have staff signature and not just the staff staff, but for now the staff staff for sure needs it as it is star stuff from staff.

Hey everyone, I'm since the news about Niarja shutting down, and with that I want to say thanks to Chakron for his many years he developed Niarja. I am in the process of re-creating Niarja with all new code and making it open source. Due to me currently IRL getting a PhD in Computer Science, I may not have time to deal with bugs asap, or feature requests, so this is why I'm making it open source. So if you are a UI/UX person or a whiz at Java, it's open to anyone to make changes and put in PR's. Current Tech Stack: Back end: Framework: JHipster 7.9 Language: Java JDK 11 RDBMS: PostgreSQL Monitoring: Prometheus / Grafana Other: Hibernate, Liquibase, Docker (for prod), host of other Spring related Tools Auth: JWT - We can use Oauth with keycloak pretty easily, but must be decided early on, as it would be generated by JHipster (less headache moving code around) Front end Language Type: React Language: Type Script In "dev": using NodeJS for hosting front-end then proxying to back-end. Prod: Compiled all to a Jar file Put in docker and the rest of services have pre-configured docker (thankx JHipster) Github Link: https://github.com/bnorthern42/Verasm What is JHipster: JHipster docs: https://www.jhipster.tech/ What comes as standard with JHipster (if curious): Log Viewer Swagger Auto-generation. Great for API Testing All the metrics: CRUD support out of the gate for entities:

Staff's really don't have the signature of the maker? Even if said Staff was made by a Staff while Staffing? That is madness!!! All Staff should have the name of it regardless of if it is a Staff Staff or just a Staff. Or maybe even a Staff on loan from a Staff Staff who is too busy Staffing to utilize the Staff to its best ability. +1 for having the name on a Staff! Especially a Staff Staff from the head Staff!

There are no words for the loss of somebody so substantial to our community, be it a friend, or just an acquaintance in passing. I met lagston a long time ago, I cant say I knew him well but I know he was much beloved for those who knew him. He will be missed.
  10. 2 points
I'm so sorry and saddened to hear these shocking news. I knew his deed on Release and I had one personal encounter with Lagston; I was looking for a new pickaxe on Trade channel. Nothing too fancy, I thought to myself. Lagston responded immediately, offering several pickaxes, normal and rare ones. I persisted on getting a normal pickaxe, since I didn't want to spend too much money on it. However, without a question, Lag sent me an ultimate weapon for mining; I rare pickaxe with extremely high quality enchants. I was in total awe and thanked him a lot. The pickaxe was named after him and I thought to keep it so I would remember his generosity and kindness. And I truly have, every now and then I use the pickaxe I remember that very nice encounter with him. Now, that he is no longer with us, the name on the pickaxe will be holding on to his memory. May you rest in peace Lag.

Edit: I knew I was going to forget a few things that I wanted to mention in this post, but I'm very much ashamed to have forgotten a rising star on our QA team. Majelika! She has been keeping up with the bugs reported by folks on the forums, as well as testing things thoroughly. Please welcome her to the team! And now back to your regularly scheduled post! --- Hello all! I apologize for the delay in posting this. We’ve been very busy behind the scenes, and I wanted to make sure things line up for this post and the posting of the new Valrei International, as they go hand-in-hand. Team Changes To get started, I’d like to congratulate Darklords on his promotion to Lead Developer! He has worked very hard to take over some of the tasks I performed before becoming Product Manager, and his new role will allow me to focus more on other areas that need attention. Jaytoo has also joined the team as a volunteer, as some of you may have already noticed. He brings fresh ideas and skills to the team; we’re thankful to have him! You can already see some of his work in the recent changes made to archaeology, and I’m pleased to say that he has even more ideas in mind. Lag and Crashes We’ve been monitoring Cadence for lag spikes, and we think we know where a few are, but we are still analyzing data and working out the actions we should take to rectify the issues. We’ve been logging and fixing issues where the communication buffer was mishandled on the server side. This would lead to client crashes and make the game unplayable for some. In conjunction with this, we are working on an update to the Wurm Launcher that will support multiple Java Runtime Environments. This will allow us to trial newer Java versions before promoting them. The runtime environment is important as we have evidence showing increased stability while running on newer environments. Exploration, Part 2 Exploration is still rolling forward, and the Valrei International released soon will showcase one of the significant features in this coming update. We plan on showing off a different feature every two weeks. We will try to have these features on the test server within a week or two after teasing, but keep in mind that these features are in active development. The tentative release date for the second half of Exploration is mid-fall. The Future As I mentioned, we are interested in getting back to basics in terms of development for Wurm. While it has been fun and energizing to work on these new features, we need to focus on fixing issues, increasing quality of life, and most importantly, addressing issues that prevent new players from getting into the game. There are also plans for marketing and the reinstatement of newsletters. We will still work on fresh content, but it will have less priority than what was mentioned above. That’s all from me for now, Happy Wurming!

Why suggest another armour type? Many players would appreciate the option to wear a prestigious, high-performance armour type that doesn't have the exclusivity or the sky-high prices of drake hide or dragon scale. What is it like? Brigandine armour consists of a layer of small metal plates sandwiched between layers of leather. This provides more protection than leather, but more flexibility than plate. Brigandine will look exactly the same as studded leather. There's no need for the hard-working art team to do anything to make this a reality. How is it made? Each piece will require... two leather armour pieces of the appropriate type rivets (the same amount you'd need to make one studded leather piece) metal lumps of the same weight as the leather piece - note that this metal will determine the material type of the finished piece Leatherworking 50 will be required to make the simplest items (boots), and 70 skill for the most complex (jacket). Repair and improvement will require leatherworking tools and material. How does it compare to other types of armour? Item weight: double that of studded leather. Damage reduction: half-way between studded leather and plate. Movement speed: same as studded leather. Armour penalty: Medium. As you'd expect, each piece will have the bonuses / penalties corresponding to the metal used in its construction.

There's something screwy with how liquids in sealed containers gets returned via mailbox to the owner if the merchant pops My merchant was dismissed cause I didn't log into the server. Some items on him were liquids in sealed containers. The items were sent via mailbox to me, but the liquids all seem to have popped out of the sealed containers. So in my mailbox I would have the container (still sealed) (and empty) but also the liquid as a separate item. This happened both for items sealed with a wax sealing kit and for barrels sealed with a peg. I had sealed pottery jars with the same issue. I am able to unseal the containers as usual and put the liquid back in, even receiving the wax sealing kits back as usual, so nothing is 'broken' with the containers. Simply seems that when mailed back the system sees the container and contents as two separate items. This did also cause me to have a backpack filled with oil which shouldn't be possible... Including screenshots to show first how the items (empty sealed barrels and liquids) were sent to me And second - after I received them in the mailbox

Yes, any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm going try and get skills working by the end of the weekend. I can go ahead and generate pages for the rest. Just need to figure out what fields need to be stored in db. I'll update readme, soon on how to add entities, it's all done with this: https://www.jhipster.tech/jdl/intro . It's not that bad once you get into it. It sets up all the CRUD automatically, and adds front end pages for you. JHipster is over powered imo. Also any dev that puts in code over time, I'll gladly give perms to accept PR's and stuff. Last thing I need is to have this turn into Vim where only one guy does all the PR's, but I digress, lol.

+1 (suggested that too already). It would also allow the mayor to move boats moored in ugly ways into more pleasant parking positions. It is often a pain that some boat visually destroys the sight of a nicely built pier with a fat corb or cog parked and moored across it (which need not even be evil intent). And I fail to see any serious griefing risk. A mayor abusing visitors will soon face no visitors anymore.

Reading through this I was thinking "A spell! A spell would solve this!" I was thinking a new 100+ favor spell (requiring linked priests) castable by priests of any faith only from the time a rift beam appears through the closing of the rift, lasting 24 hours after the rift closes and only in a specific zone outside the actual rift area up to 10 tiles away from the outer edge of the rift area. Size would be fixed. Not big enough? Cast again in another place to create another area. The ground texture could be temporarily changed to indicate the "protected zone" which would act just like a fenced area made entirely of locked gates, everyone having permission to pass. No bottlenecks at physical gates. Just reach the special ground texture area. Nothing to wait to decay. Nothing to deface the landscape and no materials needed. Something like this would completely eliminate the need for pens because it would serve ALL the functions that the pens that are made now currently serve.

This is actually a great idea. It is totally period correct. A brief search of the interwebs revealed that Wurm is one the the few without some form of brigandine. With the addition of one new blacksmithing item ... "Brigandine plate" and a requirement to add a certain number of "Brigandine plate" to the basic recipe for studded leather you have it!

Well its much better cutting ur pizza portion in the larder, than risking having ur entire pizza unexpectedly crumble to dust as soon as you remove it from the larder. ¿Did you look at that link? I could see not minding either way, if u got all ur food in magic chests... but can not understand voting no on this one. On the other hand : I would prefer they fixed the 'crumbles to dust' thing b4 adding the 'cut pizza portion in larder' thing. Just they have had years of years to fix this. It's not fixed yet. *shrugs* So ya, let us cut our cake in the larder (lol).

I agree with Sheffie 100%. A mid range vessel is exactly what is missing. Draft from 10-15. Cargo equivalent to a Wagon. Something to bridge the slightly too wide gap between the smaller relatively easy practically cargo-less vessels and the long grind large ships. The sailing boat stretched to 150% current size and widened 200% current size would yield a 3x2x2 vessel, known as a "Sixareen", or "Sixern" (From the Old Norse "sexaeringr"). With an occupant capacity of 6 and a size of 3x2x2 it fits very nicely in between the small sailing boat and the Corbita. Suggested recipe: 4x keel sections 1x rudder 6x oars 2x mooring rope 75x pegs 75x tenons 1x stern 75x hull planks 15x tars 6x seats 1x square rig 6x belaying pins 2x thick ropes

This is a discrete event so... F - fixed number of trials (Just fix the number of rolls, but this is definitely a place the study could be challenged) I - independence (All good here) C - consistent probability of success (All good here) T - two outcomes (Not rare/some category of rare) Then try a binomial test against the old p value. (Your H_0 is that the probability has not declined (p>=old value), and your H_1 is that it has) https://www.real-statistics.com/binomial-and-related-distributions/hypothesis-testing-binomial-distribution/L It isn't perfect (your experiment design will need to make sure those FICT conditions are met, and game mechanics make this tough). Also, you are relying on wurms PRNG being random (passing a randomness test), which would need to be checked to ensure the I condition is met.

The basic idea of this is simple. Anyone on level 7 of the Path of Love can go out and find a highway intersection, and enchant the closest grass tile to it. The goal is to have these little areas widely scattered along well-travelled routes, so that anyone who's seriously injured will have a place to rest and heal up. Also, any carter or wagon driver who needs to log out far from home will be able to park their vehicle somewhere the horses can eat without much risk of trampling the ground. A secondary goal of the project: plant camellia hedges at the side of the highway anywhere the adjacent tiles are dangerously steep. This will help prevent walkers from falling and taking damage. Camellia hedges are a good choice because they don't decay off deed and still allow people to easily see over them. At the moment it's just myself and Tabasco doing this, but if more people join in, I think we can make Cadence highways a much more pleasant place to travel.

I often go to rifts, and I usually just run away a bit to heal too, there is no need to go in the pen for that in *most* cases. But that's only a fraction of their utility. The pens also provide a safe place to AFK while waiting for the rift to start. They provide a safe space to go offline in if you can't travel back right after the rift. And in one case recently, to hide in during a server restart that happened halfway the rift. It's a safe place to store extra mounts you find on the way in, to help players who don't have any or who need a spare. It's also a good place to station a Fo priest alt, who can heal but who'd stand little chance against mobs. There are battle hardened Fo priests out there of course, but mine isn't. If a champion targets your mount and cripples it and you can only hobble away slowly with a bunch of mobs trailing you, a pen can be a life saver for the both of you. If you do lose your mount to a champion, you might just make it to the pen on foot. If something comes up in real life and you need to quickly go AFK, the pen has your back. Probably some things I forgot. Pens save lives (and mounts), and while you could probably do the majority of rifts without really needing one, you never know beforehand when you really do need one. So we build them everywhere. A more temporary pen would be a great idea. It'd also be useful at other events, for example slayings out in the wild. And to store your cart and horses overnight if you're on a multiday trip.
