Just hoping for something to make the world feel a bit more alive, how about NPCs that travel the Highway system? Some ideas for features below. NPCs will traverse the Highway system (and a 5 tile radius of the Highway) visiting features players have built, they will spend an hour at a location then randomly select another to visit, features on deed they may visit include. A fountain A Market Stall A Bench Unlocked buildings with permissions allowing NPCs to visit. NPCs will make conversation about their travels when spoken to, these could include: Have you seen the Fountain at <Deed Name Here>? I've heard its fantastic! I've just visited the <Building Name Here> at <Deed Name Here> Impressive I'm Travelling to Market Stall at <Deed Name Here> Is this the right direction? Different Types of NPCs Including Mounted Knights Civilians in various clothing Members of each In-Game Faith. Cartographers NPCs can enter combat with monsters while travelling. Their success will depend on how strong the type of NPC is They can summon guards if in range of a tower. Their Agro range is significantly reduced compared to players. Players who do not wish to welcome NPCs may disable their ability to visit on their settlement token, they may pass through but will not target your deed as a destination. Buildings will also have an option in their permissions to allow NPCs to visit. I don't really know what bullet points to make for this just addressing any privacy concerns people may have.

Memorial to the Past: Personal project to a fallen gamer. A couple years in my own past, I met a man who really opened up the of role playing games and the fun of seat of the pants gaming during DnD Sessions. Sadly “Krevil” His fallen paladins deity name. Did not spend a Long time at the table with me and Badcartoon (Co-founder of the Memorial of the past). After a few years knowing him the many years of him giving up on his health and spending what time he had left with friends. Died from a heart attack. Memorial to the Past, started as a thought for space on Ritestone Keep, near Encore, but during one of the no healing materials hunts that we are known for. We came across the Island that is now the deeds home, The landscape and the difficulty of the island felt like another “Krevil Knows his rules” moment that he would often throw at us we he felt we where being unrulely at the table. Second we crossed the Bridge the fight started, low on cotton all we could do is push for encore and hope for survival. When we both made that last bridge and turned back to the island filled with monsters we had to fight and run and many unlooted bodies. We knew it. Krevil would have been so surprised we lived through that, like we had always seem’d to do. “After checking us for bad dice:”("Which where his") ~Badcartoon Now that the story is out of the way. The first Monument will be dedicated to the GM that made me a requested one among my friends, and really brought me out of my shell during a rough time. But theirs more. After Consulting with BadC we’re thinking of turning this into a community project where players themselves can come honor a friend who’d love this game, or who had. Leave your own mark, come visit see what’s changed make alterations to what you’ve left. Pay your respects, or offer some time with a chisel to make some bricks. I’m wanting to run if off of Just a caretaker for now. Only building for himself is a shack. And supplies are donated by the community to assist in turning this desolate island that would put any player to the test. In to a Memorial not just to my past, or BadC’s, but to the gamer who we did or didn’t know that we all wish everyone could meet. R.I.P Krevil, miss ya buddy.

We now have over 700 mission structures and guard towers added to the map - thats insane!

That was the point of my post. Just as gunpowder would seem to be out of context with Wurm, so are purple little Teddy bears on player's backs. I would have much rather seen one of my old suggestions than this. Come on, Devs.

An explanation for those who don't know what it is, if something is placed somewhere where decay is stopped/almost entirely stopped, such as a filled larder, magic chest, decorations on deed, among other things, decay will build up the entire time it's there. This is due to how decay works, each "interval" it'll take damage equal to how much time it's taken ( if it takes a tick of 1 dmg per day on average, and it's been 2 days since it last checked, it'll take 2 dmg, and so on), then reset the time since last decay to 0. These things that "stop" decay get around decay by making the intervals between decay near infinite, but once you take it off deed, the decay intervals are set back to their original amounts, but you've still got the built up time since last decay tick. Say you're on a boat that's been on deed for a year since you were on a break or something, and you sail it off deed, within a few minutes of sailing, it'll take a years worth of decay at once, if this is a low quality boat this can instantly destroy it or kick you out as it's no longer high enough quality to be commanded. The weird way that this is coded makes the no decay basically useless for anything that doesn't permanently reside in a deed/in a magic chest or similar. Suggested fix would be 1. Change the decay interval modification to a 100% decay damage reduction, this would fix the issue, but might add a slight amount of lag to the server as all the items that are on deed and weren't getting polled for decay before are now being polled as they would off deed. 2. Make being on a deed/in a decay proof container reset "lastMaintained" on server launch. This would half fix the problem, but you'd still be getting decay on boats/carts/etc if you drive them around daily and park them on deed after 3. Make repairing/commanding/pushing/interacting with something in a decay proof container/etc force a check for decay that's set to 0 if it's somewhere protected from decay and reset "lastMaintained". This would be the most reliable one but not sure how much of an impact on lag this would have, especially with things like someone pushing instantly on deed.

Was just reminded of how awkward the deeds and perms are in this game when I had to disband and redeed just to move the token. First off, it's been suggested so often, but for the love of God, let us move the token without disbanding the deed already. That's point one. *Edit* I'm not saying it should be a free move, whether it's a silver cost like renaming the settlement, or a Marks Store purchase like a golden mirror, just give us the option. Of course it would have to be a legal placement of the token (5 tiles to border.) Second, and possibly even more annoying, is all the clicking to give out perms on a deed, especially to close friends who might get some but not all perms, and alts who get all the perms. One of two things are needed here. A copy role function (preferred), or a 'Select All' check box on the role page. Best would be both. There should be a way, like on the Building Perms page, to create roles for all your trusted friends and friends at once. Third, is the closing of the main role page after you "Add Role." You get done with making the role and hit save and the window disappears and now you have to right-click the body > Manage > Settlement > Manage roles to add the next one. Seriously? As much as I'd love to see more decorations and building options and many other things, this bugs me more than not having those yet. It's such a basic part of the game that is just so, so unnecessarily tedious.

Hey All! Thought I would hunt down the newly reported Rift on Independence! Not too far from our last one! Different Wurmians use Different Maps! 😉 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kHuvWv-8Sha5nsRgow9LSLrNxwYbHFpL/view (Albia Road Map of Indy 38x/20y) https://independence.yaga.host/#2298,1202 https://www.wurmnode.com/server/independence/map#z=5&c=-68.28125,146.71875&m=-75.125,144.125 Checking everything out...🤔 There is an area where the ground has been raised to create a road between the two large fields. With tall ridges on North, South, and East sides. Minimal foliage to contend with in the fields. Access was easy. Guard tower close by. Hoping this helps! Happy Wurming and Good Luck! ~Amantnovi~

Guys, Im by far a forum moderator dont get me wrong, also regardless of my personal opinion on the matter, this its still a "Merchant Ad" so isnt it best this stuff is discussed out of this thread? Not trying to be a smartass or anything but some people want to escape the reality of the real world for just a bit (yes thats me included 🤣) . Much love ❤️

As someone who frequently pays well over the outdated "value" of items, I gotta shoot all of you down, you need a dose of reality and I do apologize for wording it so harshly SFI's economy is already dead So many of you are so removed from reality I often think you only sell what you have and have never bought anything Buying basic materials like weapons and building material, I've gone through periods of advertising in trade chat for days without anyone messaging me. I've tried buying on forums which can end in waiting days, weeks, and in one case months, to recieve an order at "value". Which is no fault of those merchants mind you, they're overworked. The second I offer to buy those same materials at twice the value on trade? I get 4-5 people messaging me instantly to sell Thats just common goods Labor, you guys undersell yourselves so much I always pay well over what people charge. I had an entire boat canal dug through my deed and the total charged cost was like 5s, it took three people well over a week. So no, I forced them to take more than they asked and ended up spending around 1g on the entire project Rare items you will see people search for months on end to find, some I've been waiting on for over year to even get a chance on. But guess what, you guys are blaming the wrong people. I don't want to pay that much for items and work, but I have to if I want to get them this century It's supply and demand, the prices are high because we have high demand and low supply in nearly everything. Yet so many vendors sell themselves short to keep to prices that were good 10 years ago. Don't get me started on sorcery items, by all means any other game would have a player riot over how rare they are for the uselessness of them and the lack of player base I do believe one solution is opening SFI and NFI to each other, cause guess what, NFI needs high level players to even out their economy, and SFI desperately needs low level players to even out there's. Again I apologize for the harshness, but it frustrates me when someone spends an entire day making something like a rowboat and sells themselves short and goes "eh, 1c". It also frustrates me that items I could have gotten dirt cheap 5 years ago, cost an arm and a leg now

In the original post: Look, I get why some wouldn't want the work @Skatynaand yeah, I could do the work faster myself, however I only have so many hours in the day to play, and would rather build things than make the bricks and mortar so I offer this to those who just want some coin for mindless work. Maybe they want to earn premium time as they return to the game, maybe they're newbs who just want a safe space to make some coin, build up some skills and characteristics, and learn a bit more about the game while doing so. On SFI, the standard rate of pay is 1 silver / 1 K actions. This isn't something I've set arbitrarily, it's an accepted rate of pay by the majority of the community. If a player wants to mine the rock and make their own bricks they can sell those bricks for 2s/K, however they'd have to feed themselves, find or build a bed to sleep in and make a building to put the bed in, then find a buyer for the bricks and arrange transportation, etc. I offer a building with a bed, food when hungry, I'd even lend a horse if they want to go explore. I've had several people come here and work over the last couple of years, I might not be advertising for this if they were still playing on a regular, or hadn't moved on to other things in Wurm. Also, since I just made a bit of coin recently, I thought I'd open up this offer to more people in the hopes of moving this project along a little faster.

I am confused why people makes an issue out of this post. To me it is simple. the OP offered a job and if someone is interested in doing the work for whatever the reason it's a deal between the 2 of them. If you think it is a bad deal or whatever close the tab move along. No need to comment. it's a simple case of supply and demand. If you not interested ignore it, it so simple. I just don't get why there always has to be some people commenting on things that has nothing to do with them.

How about hiring a hand to milk the cows, harvest the crops. Of course they should be paid and fed, have a bed to sleep in. Hire one after you reach a certain lvl, more as your raise in rank.

For anyone still having this problem, please post which graphics card you're running Wurm on, if possible. Also let us know if disabling FBO support in the Compatibility settings tab helps; this will have undesired effects, but it has improved stability for some and it would help to know who that works for.

I love driving off deed to dig up some sand or clay real quick and then getting told I cant get back on the cart I just rode out, makes a lot of sense.
  18. 1 point
I need workers at my project. I've got shards that need to be turned into bricks, clay and sand that need to be turned into mortar, and if you like digging there's that as well. There will also occasionally be logs that need to be turned into planks and shafts, and iron that needs to be turned into nails, ribbons and chain links. You chose the work you want to do within the needs I have at the moment, but I'll always need mortar and bricks and digging - at least for the foreseeable future. I pay 1 silver per 1,000 actions. I'll feed you high ql food. You'll have your own off-deed workspace accessible only to you and me with a bed so you can gain sleep bonus if you want. You get to keep and/or sell any rares made. If you want to work on your Animal Husbandry on your own time there's some animals to groom, or if you forage and botanize there's plenty of grassland for you to do so. There's also tons of animals, including a crocodile lair not far, if you want to skill up your fighting. This work is at my place on Xanadu at K25 (https://xanadu.yaga.host/#7680,3706.) It is a bit remote, but the work is steady and the scenery is beautiful I'm looking for consistently active players. I'll check every day or two and swap completed items for silver. If you haven't logged in for a couple weeks I'll pull the mats and finished items and ask you to send me a COD for the value of those completed items. You'll find that I'm a more than fair employer who treats you honestly and with respect and ask for that in return. Message me here or in-game (same name) for more details or to arrange to start work Come be a part of this special project Edit: I'm closing this post. Not because I don't need workers, I do, but because the scope of work offered has significantly increased. New post otw. Also, the unnecessary rancor over the job offer has clouded this post. Time to close it and try a new approach.

    Here's what I imagine the current code looks like. if(!Item.IsProtectedFromDecay) { Item.Damage(CurrentTime - Item.LastDecayTime); Item.LastDecayTime = CurrentTime; } Here's how to fix it. if(!Item.IsProtectedFromDecay) { Item.Damage(CurrentTime - Item.LastDecayTime); } Item.LastDecayTime = CurrentTime;

Third person view was added with the steam release of wurm in 2020 and brings an undocumented feature that the majority of PvP players know of but is not well known for others: When in third person view the direction your character is facing at is no longer updated. What this means is if your character last faced north in first person and you switch into third person, your character will forever always be facing north until you go back into first person to manually change it. This may seem super counterintuitive or "bugged" but it actually has a bigger usage in PvP: In many MMOs the direction your character is facing at is important and wurm is no exception - shield blocking, flanking*, archery, spell casting - they all use the players facing direction. (* flanking only uses the defending players direction when the defending player is not on a mount, otherwise the mount facing direction) In most 3D MMOs you have two options to rotate your camera - one is to rotate only your camera to look around you (often left-mouse-button) and the other is to rotate your camera together with the facing direction of your character (often right-mouse-button). In wurm this behavior is achieved by switching back and forth between first person and third person view, so when you are in combat you first go into first person view to face your direct opponent and then switch into third person view if you want to look around you to assess the situation without facing away from your opponent, then back into first person view when you need to recalibrate your facing direction. Arguably this mechanic can be confusing if you don't know about it because when you are in third person view your character seems to turn around and look into the direction of your camera but this is on your side only and not updated / transmitted to the server - other people still see you staring/facing north without any head/body movements.

Not sure why you are being contrary - man doesn't want to make all the bricks and mortar himself, willing to pay others to do it. Either he gets folks, or not. Instead of trolling and making crap and drama, do some research and see if the offer really is fair and honest (it is), if the person isn't being honest (he is), or if there really is any sort of injustice involved that needs to be addressed (don't think there is), just mind your own business. And, good solid health benefits there Dale. Ever consider tossing in a bed to earn SB?

I know the feeling about the token. When you first join the game you are not sure where to put it as you have nothing planned out but as soon as you start planning things you realise damn this token is getting in the way here. I initially thought you could move it when I first joined and found out you couldn't so just left it. So yes I hope they allow this feature, why it is not already in I don't know but the other suggestions sound good also for perms, we live in hope.

So what happened to my items that had been stored on 11 merchants for years: merchants quit after 3 months, sent items into mail storage, then I checked mail and the catch up tick happened either moving from merch to mail or mail to my spirit castle? Can this be tracked down as well in the process to make sure someone else doesn't get messed up the same way? Make exiting merchants and exiting mail limbo clear the decay backlog too?
  45. 1 point
This is a suggestion to change a feature, so it's a little different. Technically, it's not a bug, it's working as intended mechanically, so the question is about changing it. This is not saying it's a GOOD thing, it's just not posted as a bug report. That said I've passed it to the dev team to consider and will update if a decision is made to change the mechanic.
  46. 1 point
I absolutely didn't know this was even a thing, or I would have probably complained about it. It does explain some of the weird damage I have seen on tools etc kept on deed and taken with me on a trip. I had put it down to no paying attention to the item, but now I shall blame someone else. It seems like a a quick-fix it of coding that has never been reworked to actually function properly. Please fix this.
  47. 1 point
Not sure if this should even be a "suggestion" or a bug report. Because i hope it was never intended to work that way. So yeah, it's not even something they should take into consideration to change, it's basically a bug that needs to be fixed asap. either way, +1
  48. 1 point
yep, that decay method makes no sense... thinking my magic chest is significantly less useful now. JS
  49. 1 point
This seems more like a bug than an intended feature. It actively discourages leaving deeds and should thus be removed. Easy fix 4: Your goal is decay counters to be 0 or 1; just "and" it with a "not deed/protected" check each time it is applied. This also means you can tweak the code applying decay damage to always happen, no need to apply the deed/protected check at that stage
  50. 1 point
Still though, what's the point of using the Larder at all then? It's not a decay reduction, it's a decay delay.
