Really? Do people behave like this? Do you? If I want a rare strange bone and the bid is 20s, then I may well bid 40s because (a) I expect the price to go that high anyway, and (b) that's an amount that I am prepared to pay. If someone else comes along and thinks that the sensible course of action is to raise the bid by another 20s, that's entirely up to them. If someone who literally has more money than sense is bidding in an auction, then good for the seller. I'm happy for them. Maybe I'll get the next bone.

Day 1 : The Arrival I ran as fast as I could.. east. It was the direction my brother told me to go. He said there used to be a camp there with a tavern and training facilities. And so maybe it was at one time.. This place is deserted.. There are a few kingdom guards left, old and worn out. Most hide in there towers because its over run with trolls.. Two lost there life helping me to the so called tavern. Keeping their oath to the kingdom to protect all who fight for its glory. We are far from glory now I am afraid. Now I sit writing this thinking why did I come here anyway , but I know I must keep my oath as well. If I do not, then I am wasting their sacrifice and all those who came before. And who knows, the future King or Queen could walk though those doors any day. I will remain, train , and light these musty old forges a-new. /Delrago pushes the journal away and takes in the room upstairs of the run down tavern. / "Lots of cleaning to do", he mumbles to himself ,"I better get started"

With the recent faith switching change, one thing has inadvertently become more difficult burdensome: colossus construction. That has been a sore spot for some time with many previous threads created about it and the faith switching required to build one for a friend or client, but it was just made a little more onerous. Perhaps the easiest and most fair way to do it is to allow anyone to construct any colossus statue to material completion. This will complete the generic colossus, but the deity colossi will still be "unfinished". The material-complete but unfinished colossus would then require a blessing from a priest of that faith, one of the easiest possible spells to cast. It adds a minor annoyance of locating a priest of that faith to finish the construction, but with everyone and their grandmother having priest alts, it is far less of a chore than faith switching ... even before the recent change. Another option would be to have the material-complete but "unfinished" colossus have a new right-click option called "Complete". Any follower+ of that deity would be able to select that option to complete the colossus.

The problem you're encountering is likely the same one that many others experience in other games. The issue you're having is not related to Wurm. No game software should cause your computer to crash and restart. That level of severity is almost always due to hardware or drivers. If you're on an NVIDIA card, I recommend trying the following. Note that this is on Windows 10, but you should be able to find a similar button in a similar location on Windows 11. I've added images in spoilers to assist. 1) Navigate to your Windows Settings, and go to the "Power & Sleep" tab. From there, there is an "Additional power settings" button that will lead you to a new window. 2) This will bring you to your Power Options. Here, the most likely scenario is that you're currently on "Balanced" - the default setting when Windows is installed. Instead, change it to "High Performance" and the problem should be resolved. That should solve the problem where your computer resets when trying to launch Wurm, or any other game for that matter. You might be wondering why, so if you're interested, I'll leave a short explanation in the below spoiler.

While players should have to work some maths out to find out exactly what they want where they want it when planning deeds, tunnels, and highways, forcing players not fortunate enough to live near the coasts to cross half the server to determine the elevation at their deed, should they need it, is a bit much to ask. May we have a compromise and let Waystones be the official Wurm Geological Survey elevation markers, either via extra line of text in the description or via right-click menu option?

I don't see any problem with people bidding higher than the minimum. That happens at real auctions. In real auctions, it also isn't unusual for the auction to start at the lowest the seller will take. And if no bids, then the auction moves on to the next item. What DOESN'T happen at real auctions - and my pet peeve - is 'discussion.' An auction is a seller and buyers. The seller offers an item. Buyers bid. What does not happen at real auctions is someone talking about what 'they think' the 'right' price 'should' be during the auction. Anyone saying ANYTHING that isn't a bid during an auction is removed and locked out.

Just because someone thinks that something is worth X amount, does not mean that is what it is worth.....If your only willing to pay 20s for something, but I'm willing to pay 50s....why should I not bid that 50s....why should I or anyone else have to play the game of refreshing non stop just to bid another 1s against someone else. You may not agree, but the value of an item is indeed based upon what someone is willing to sell it for and what a buyer is willing to pay. Past history of prices can help to guide and advise someone trying to buy or sell something, but it in no way means that because something sold for a certain amount in the past, that it is now only worth that. There are items that I know I am willing to over pay for, because I may have been looking for that item for months, and there is a short supply of them. I have very little interest in trying to Nickle and Dime an auction and try to get the item for as cheap as I possibly can....in my opinion that plays into the idea that I need to get that item as cheap as possible so that I help to maintain this perceived value of an item, because someone else says it is only worth that much. This posting has so many assumptions about bidders intentions. No one knows why someone bids the way they do except for that person. It can be said that those that only want to bid the min amount, and then complain about others that bid more, is only complaining because they wish to keep prices down, and they want to take advantage of a "good deal" and NOT pay a fair value for that item. With again, Fair being what ever the buyer is willing to pay. I have seen several auctions in the last week with people putting items up with a low buyout, because someone told them that the item is only worth that much, and that item is bought out shortly after it was posted, and had that person let the auction run its course and not do a buyout, it would have gone for 2x - 3x that amount, in the end hurting themselves because they thought an item was only "worth" a certain amount, because in the past that item sold for lesser amounts. Times change, prices go up and down, and sometimes there are people with coin who are willing to pay more for items then others are willing to pay, or can even afford. As others have said, you can set your own rules for an auction, if you want to limit the max bid amount, that is your choice, but doing so I feel would only hurt your auction, as there are many people who would normally bid but don't have the time or patience to sit there and play the refresh game. My personal way of bidding is I typically bid what I am willing to pay for an item. Sometimes I may bid a little less then this, but seldom am I willing to get into a bidding war, because as in real life....a bidding war actually does what your against...having the item go higher then the perceived value is. That is the purpose of having an auction, in hopes that those with money, such as two whales, will bid against each other, driving the price up because of the desire that they each have. Thus driving the price up even higher then anyone may have thought the item was worth. History is full of examples of this happening. That is the end hope of the seller and the auction house hosting the auction. The goal is not to sell at what the "Market" may say an item is worth, but to get as much value out of an item as possible. In the end, if you think an item is worth X amount, then post a listing to sell that item, just like people do everyday on facebook or craigslist...Auctions are by design geared to milk as much as possible, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Hello everyone! Kaufecake here, I am co-manager of Cake Dream Enterprises, and I wanted to let you all know about our exciting new project! We are currently in Phase One of our grand plan to concrete our way into Wurm history. If any of you were in the vicinity of Encore during the initial Steam launch, you probably remember how pristine the peninsula east of Encore was. Rolling hills full of lush green grass, few trees and tons of animals. Soon after the population of this peninsula exploded, with multiple deeds popping up and then proceeding to disband in the coming months leaving their stain on the landscape forever. After almost two years, Dreamseeker and I are now committed to fixing the now blighted landscape and revitalizing it to the pristine dignity it was when we first landed here. We began this mission by expanding our headquarters and founding three additional outpost deeds to blanket this peninsula. At this point, the various structures and deeds that have previously dotted this landscape have collapsed, leaving behind the various infrastructure and terraforming that each individual/group collectively has done and our outposts. Now we begin our terraforming efforts. If you have been to Encore in the last few days from the east – you have likely seen a large terraforming project started or maybe a sign like this: https://imgur.com/a/9bp7NsV We both agreed that before we would modify or remove the highways crossing this peninsula, we would create a route that maintained the same level of service as the prior. In addition, we have gone above and beyond in creating a route that will make travel more seamless. Outside of a few locations, and bridges, the slope of the road is maintained at a smooth slope (4) and the shoulders are almost all designed to have a maximum slope of (20) to allow for ease of travel. This will ultimately make for a slightly longer travel between the intersection east of Cake Dream Headquarters and the bridge east of Encore by approximately (30) tiles! After we install the new route for the highway, we will be closing the existing route as the plan to revitalize the peninsula and return it to its natural glory. This fine peninsula with its quaint hills and gently rolling rock layer will be returned to its former glory and with the improvements it so much deserves! Stay tuned for the revitalization effort! Sincerely, Kaufecake Co-Manager, Cake Dream Enterprises

Hello all, A few months ago we gave a retirement date to the Old UI. That date has come and passed, but it is now finally time to wish the Old UI a farewell. Please continue to give feedback with regards to the 4.2 version of the client so that we can make it better for everyone. I'll also have a development update post coming this week. We've had some changes to the team that I'd like to announce officially, plus maybe even some teasers of what's being worked on.

The recent threads about the (lack of) decay on goblin skulls made me think. Not only goblin skulls, but objects of many kinds are often used as decorations. Sadly, these non-goblin skull decorations rot and decay and eventually disappear, forcing constant vigilance in maintaining that appearance. What if we could use beeswax (or whatever) in combination with any hold-able item to create a decorative object otherwise identical in weight, volume, and appearance as the original that does not decay as long as it's on an active deed? Converted objects should no longer be usable for their original purposes; that decorative giant axe is just that: a decoration; that decorative pizza is just made from wax. Then we can place these decorative objects on our deeds knowing they won't start to decay until the deed falls, like the rest of the placeable objects on the deed.

tiles that haven't happened to become investigable yet will still be picked clean. The server randomly resets tiles to be investigable so sometimes there will be some that are not usable.

Update Fixed plural names for many different item templates, to make sure missions always show the correct type of item to create. Missions will no longer need to create or sacrifice dragon shoulder pads. Teleport home now works on bridges and floors, in case you end up in a house of madness again. Epic mission buildings will be displayed on the livemaps within the next 24 hours. You can now use the /links command to see who is linked to you or who you are linked to. Fixed a bug causing people with a deity and a lot of faith and favor to lose their items on death. Staff members now automatically use the internal sign-in command on login.

This. Please fix this devs. I was HOTS from previous membership in an old PMK but dare not cross now to join any other PMK due to the auto faith change when crossing. My progress with Vyn on Freedom is auto-nuked if I cross. This puts players in an awful bind if they want to go join a pmk or travel to Chaos for any other reason. Auto faith-change with lasting consequences just for crossing over the border. Please fix this.

If i see a rare item's price go for silly crazy numbers because the starting bid was 20s and the first person to reply bids 40(instead of 20) and the 2nd bids 70 and this goes across multiple auctions resulting in the prices of these items being seen as being way higher then they were a while ago sometimes upwards of 10x more purely because people have gotten into a weird bidding habit Then ya i will post something up about it and voice my opinion on how silly it has become over the last few years, before that sillyness that we have now started a lot of the items i have seen used to go for maybe 30 if even 40 are now going for 80+ yet the quantity of these items has gone up(given the rate of where these posts are being posted up) and the only reason i can see as to why the price of a lot of these items has gone up so much more then they should have is people's crazy habit of placing giant bid increases sometimes even double the current price or throwing an instant double the asking price bid at the start. So yes really people do seem to be behaving where they post crazy prices and others follow suit leading to prices that are way higher then they are worth. Now i myself being someone who really only sells would stand to benefit from this right? As i can use those auction prices as "proof" that the items i sell to others are worth that but no i dig past that crazy habit and show auctions that show a way more reasonable price for items. Now bones have always been a bit funny but the last auction for a bone on sfi i saw reasonable price increases of 1s at a time vs the chaotic jumps but plenty of other items just have insane price jumps and to me that idea of going "hey starting bid is 20s lets bed 40s" and someone else goes "hey lets bed 70s" instead of 41 or 45 or whatever and then no one else bothers to bid and then a few days later it closes with only 2 bidders ever yet a similar item a few weeks earlier saw a buzzling auction going on with lots of people bidding with small increases and a end price that was higher(as were the other ones before) those high jumps does scare people away unless an item is actually put up way underpriced But yes i do believe that having a more active auction with lots of people bidding at min price increase vs 2-3 posting giant bids is better because the first one is more useful for price checks and also more of a stable price to be reached then the other one which gives no real clear value other then "this one person bids 70" when generally others only pay say 40, it just doesn't help in finding the real value of an item on the grand scale of more then 20+ sales and the likes when all that data is just dirty because people are ruining bidding. Knowing what an item is actually worth and being able to see that form a history of proper auctions helps people in setting a base line on "should i auction this or sell it directly" it helps people also in seeing "how much should i lower it by if i want to sell it quickly" or to prevent people from going "pc strange bone" someone going 5s and then when asked why 5s they go "those auctions are just friends buying each others stuff the real price is way lower" like i see happen quite often where people try to lowball items because they themselves want them. It might seem silly to people but having bidding where most people stick to min price increases is way more helpful for a lot of reasons after all i cant try to lowball someone out of a rare bone if the auction forum is full of posts with lots of people bidding and go "oh ya they are just trying to do price spikes to get lots of money" But hey that's just what i think about it from a data standpoint and trust standpoint having lots of bids vs few big ones is better

+1, I've really got nothing more to add other than: please implement some change to make god colossi not require faith swapping to build. Edit: Nevermind, I do have something to add... The point here is more that the faith swap now has the "consequences" of missing out on any rites that may occur, in addition to being a week apart at minimum, in addition to losing all follower bonuses, all to build a different giant statue that does nothing more than look cool.

There are a whole bunch of threads asking for various new decor items and me, personally, I'd love to see them all in game. But, I know there are other priorities right now and making entirely new things takes time and work when there's other work that more urgently needs doing. Middle ground solution: pretty pretty please let us use beeswax to render an item functionally useless but without/with drastically reduced decay when on deed. Converting the item in this way prevents the mechanic being used as an exploit to get around decay on items, but means that we can make better/any use of some of the beautiful models the art team have created for us that never get seen. For example: A couple of bales of waxed wheat can sit in an animal enclosure to make it look more farm-like A waxed fruit pie can adorn a dining table as a centrepiece without vanishing in a couple of days Archaeology finds in nice metals that will never be used can be waxed and put on display in a museum Your very first weapon that you have a sentimental attachment to but will never use again can sit pride of place in your house A fisherman's prized catch can be displayed on a shelf A couple of books can be left by an armchair or on a side table in someone's cosy library A basket (pile) of waxed fruit or vegetables can sit by a farmyard door A marketplace deed can put different items of clothing or jewellery on display on counters and shelves (without needing to go and repair them every month or so) Starter towns and newbie recruiting villages can be decorated in such a way that makes them look vibrant and alive and full of the possibilities of Wurm with examples of some of the systems and items that so rarely get 'seen' - like cooking, fishing, archaeology, even basic tools that you don't know exist til you make them or discover them, and so on and so on. The effort and resources required to wax items should mean that it isn't so overused it creates a clutter problem for the server, it would give additional uses to beehives which are woefully underused, it would present a lot of legitimate new decor options for people who like to decorate without requiring a heavy load (or any load) of work for the art team to create new models and it would finally allow us to make good use of all the hard work already gone into making models of items than never get placed anywhere, in practice, because of decay.
