I am dead. Dead I tell you! This was a weird experiment. I hand painted the height map in photoshop and used generator fx for the rest. I wanted a map that was very sailing friendly but also require some canals and bridges so there's a lot of water and rivers. The whole thing is much flatter and closer to sea level than I might have liked due to how I generated the basic terrain and the fact I didn't know what I was doing when I started; it would look rather different if I had started it with what I know now but hey it's friendly to build on I guess the irony of this is that now that I have it done I have very little motivation to actually play on it. It's too familiar to me, I know every inch of this map lmao I included the wurmitems.db from the sqlite folder so that the black and white light shows up where I placed terrain for it but you're free to skip the file and put them wherever you want of course The ores are left on the default from map generator FX but all the files requires to regenerate the map are included so if you want you can load the heightmap into the generator, create an ore layer with what you want and load the action file to get all the biomes. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uS7BDKXLcrAA-UNFXD504h-V-bStQ57g?usp=sharing

tl; dr: Thread starter is complaining that this old game still has good influx of money. In depth: I too have noticed that a few players pay exorbitant prices on some rare items. Regarding one of the veteran auction holders that have raked in enormous amounts, I noticed he later asked for an item in trade chat at double the value of what I thought was really worth. I happened to have the item and sold it. Having this injection of money into MY war chest means that I gladly pay high prices for little things that I need from crafters such as two creature cages, a good hammer or saddle, whatever item I am not making myself because my skills suck so bad. And thus the money goes around and average crafters are still able to get satisfaction for all the time they have spent improving their skill, and even pay their deed upkeep based on this. What is the problem again?

Stormblade and Jabirta, i don't think our paths have crossed on my travels but you are fellow Wurms and i am truly sorry to hear this news. Like everyone else here sending you postive vibes and i hope that in the future i can get to meet you both in Wurm for a hug! Please take care.

This seems more "illogical" rather than simply "un-intuitive". +1, either a) let progress fill the first/oldest mission bar first, b) fill BOTH oldest+newest mission bars simultaneously, or c) just don't allow for duplicate missions at all.

For Mentors my thoughts on this was that a new player could 'link' with a veteran player and much like priest linking, it has a certain range, but allow new players to 'boost' their skills to a certain amount above current skill. For example, a fresh made character could link with a friend, as long as the vet player has a set amount of skill, Carpentry 50 skill for example, and boost the new players Carpentry skill 10 points allowing them to experience building their own house. Skills already above the 20 limit cannont be boosted. Perhaps premium vs non not being able to be boosted as well. While boosted the player would still skill up but at a reduced rate, much like using a 99 ql, 99 woa tool to grind with, hope that makes sense. Once this link is established, long cool downs are needed to change mentors, 3 days to a week. Both players need to be online. Possible rewards for mentoring, a title, sleep bonus, or this could even be added as an optional entry in the journal.

I bid whatever I want to pay and hope I win because I will forget about the auction 100% of the time so I’m not dealing with 50c increments

Not everyone has time to refresh same topic every hour to see if the bid increased or not. Get a life. You see an auction, you drop what you are happy to pay end of. You win, you win, you dont, some one else does. Same time if the first bid went up by 20s no one is stopping you placing a bid of 21s or so if you want to play with your minimum increments.

Lots of interesting changes here to look forward to. One thing that would massively improve my own experience of archaeology would be this: Allow smelting of items with enchantments/runes without the need to dispel first. To keep players from accidentally smelting valuable items (as under the current mechanic), this could be added as a distinct new command (e.g. 'smelt enchanted item') either buried in a sub-menu on r-click or purely as a keybind option. Why add this? So players feel that something has been gained even when restored metal items turn out to be rather junky (too low ql, wrong metal). The work threshold for salvaging metal is currently too high with the requirement to dispel, often multiple times, before being able to smelt. Plus, dispel is gated behind players having a priest to cast it.

So after all these years, Pink Floyd's "Animals" pig has been hiding in Wurm?
  20. 2 points
My heart goes out to you both. While I was on hiatus from Wurm due to tight finances and working and attending college full-time while caring for my oldest daughter and pregnant with my youngest daughter in April 2019, our house burned down, taking our three cats with it (they too passed from smoke inhalation rather than the fire, thank Fo). Our house burned due to slipshod wiring (if a house has both copper and aluminum wiring and unused outlets start melting, GTFO), but I still keep wishing we had moved or done just about anything differently leading up to that day and our escape from the inferno. Therapy has helped a lot, too, though it doesn't bring back what was lost. I still miss my cats and a plushie cat I had since I was a very little girl. While I don't have much in the way of money since I became disabled, I'll do what I can to help. Community was an essential component to us getting back on our feet and starting to heal. And if you need someone to vent to who understands how it feels to experience such a catastrophic loss firsthand, my PMs are always open.

I get the notion of "bid what you are willing to pay for it" but this honestly is flawed If an action starts at say 20s there is no point on instantly going 40s as the first post in hopes that you will drive away others from bidding, it just leads to other people thinking "oh the value of this item is way more then they have currently bid as look at that bid increase now let us go post up a high number as well that we can afford to use" and suddenly they go 70s All the while the original post is still stating min bid increases 1s 😕 Once upon a time on the wurm forums a couple of years ago actually we would still bid the starting bid price on the first post and stick to those min increases and often that lead to fair and consistent prices for items across multiple auctions leading to WTA's of similar prices of those who did not want to wait and wanted to sell it faster this actually lead to a more active feeling economy because we could go "oh hey someone is price checking this item here is proof that this item is worth x" instead of going "trust me i am the best i know it all" The change to "lets just throw out giant numbers and overpay for items" wasn't even gradual just 1 week to the next someone had started to do it and everyone followed suit giving up on proper auctions and just made it the mess it is today. We have seen prices of items increase by 500-600% of their previous value and don't give me that "its worth what they are willing to pay for it" as that is not how an economy runs thats how a bunch of people who don't know the value of things claim an economy runs. Wurm's economy is in shambles and its not because of low volume of people as its never had many people in trade to begin with its not because of everyone reaching 90+ skill and making their own tools, its not because of old account recycling(or lack there off) it is purely because people are doing tactics that ruin a fair and proper economy by destroying the market by constantly undercutting in attempt to sell quickly or buy in bulk(this does not make sense never has) or by just throwing 2-3 times the starting bid as the first post on an auction and subsequent follow ups. If the starting bid is 20s and min increase is 1s the first post should be 20s 2nd 21s and so on and on and on maybe 5s increase if you realize that you are in a bidding war with someone who really wants it but sooner or later that bidding war would end. But right now people with more rl money(or ingame playtime and skill to make a lot of money) are throwing insane quantities of silver at items that really were not worth that much and it has risen the price of rarity based items and others alike to insane levels and for what? just so that now that entire market is controlled by the wallets of those few as the average person cant ever try to contest with them as they do not have a casual 80s laying around to throw at something they really want when the price should maybe be 30s max? This is not a complaint about me not being able to afford it(Heck i am getting a new 4090 when they release hopefully this year november) this is about me seeing business practices that no other gaming economy puts up with for long before people call those few out for trying to ruin prices. What will happen in the end when those people leave? prices will remain high for a while then they will drop as no one will be willing to pay that much nor ask that much for those items but that will take a long time after these "whales" are gone, runescape had this issue on a grand scale at one point hence why their GE introduced max price increase or decreases per day, its why path of exile has 3rd party price history trackers and pricing tools(that really should be part of the core game), its why so many mmo's have proper community run or developer run auction places that allow for the listing of items and the confirmation of sales to show a proper pricing history of all items listed on there so that people know they get a fair price. Just the other day i saw someone wanting to sell their sleep powders for 1.5s yet others for 1 and seen a couple sell it for 50c a piece, same goes for bulk goods like dirt and wemp and bricks these prices are so in flux its insane and shows how no one really knows what others will pay for it even though we all feel like we do and that same issue is reflected in auctions. So please can we go back to a time where auctions make sense again and bidding wars are actually exciting instead of 1 person showing the size of their wallet every chance they see a shiny?

We had a Libila 37 kill croc mission that was at 93% completed (two more needed). A Magranon kill croc mission of 55 spawned. Now when I and others kill crocs, they get added to the 55 Magranon kill croc mission. It seems we cannot complete the 37 Libila croc mission until we complete the Mag. mission. Is there anything that can be done about this. Will we be granted the sleep bonus we should earn for the first mission, if we participated. I can post my 10% participation graphic, if you like. Thank you

Just because someone thinks that something is worth X amount, does not mean that is what it is worth.....If your only willing to pay 20s for something, but I'm willing to pay 50s....why should I not bid that 50s....why should I or anyone else have to play the game of refreshing non stop just to bid another 1s against someone else. You may not agree, but the value of an item is indeed based upon what someone is willing to sell it for and what a buyer is willing to pay. Past history of prices can help to guide and advise someone trying to buy or sell something, but it in no way means that because something sold for a certain amount in the past, that it is now only worth that. There are items that I know I am willing to over pay for, because I may have been looking for that item for months, and there is a short supply of them. I have very little interest in trying to Nickle and Dime an auction and try to get the item for as cheap as I possibly can....in my opinion that plays into the idea that I need to get that item as cheap as possible so that I help to maintain this perceived value of an item, because someone else says it is only worth that much. This posting has so many assumptions about bidders intentions. No one knows why someone bids the way they do except for that person. It can be said that those that only want to bid the min amount, and then complain about others that bid more, is only complaining because they wish to keep prices down, and they want to take advantage of a "good deal" and NOT pay a fair value for that item. With again, Fair being what ever the buyer is willing to pay. I have seen several auctions in the last week with people putting items up with a low buyout, because someone told them that the item is only worth that much, and that item is bought out shortly after it was posted, and had that person let the auction run its course and not do a buyout, it would have gone for 2x - 3x that amount, in the end hurting themselves because they thought an item was only "worth" a certain amount, because in the past that item sold for lesser amounts. Times change, prices go up and down, and sometimes there are people with coin who are willing to pay more for items then others are willing to pay, or can even afford. As others have said, you can set your own rules for an auction, if you want to limit the max bid amount, that is your choice, but doing so I feel would only hurt your auction, as there are many people who would normally bid but don't have the time or patience to sit there and play the refresh game. My personal way of bidding is I typically bid what I am willing to pay for an item. Sometimes I may bid a little less then this, but seldom am I willing to get into a bidding war, because as in real life....a bidding war actually does what your against...having the item go higher then the perceived value is. That is the purpose of having an auction, in hopes that those with money, such as two whales, will bid against each other, driving the price up because of the desire that they each have. Thus driving the price up even higher then anyone may have thought the item was worth. History is full of examples of this happening. That is the end hope of the seller and the auction house hosting the auction. The goal is not to sell at what the "Market" may say an item is worth, but to get as much value out of an item as possible. In the end, if you think an item is worth X amount, then post a listing to sell that item, just like people do everyday on facebook or craigslist...Auctions are by design geared to milk as much as possible, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Drake or scale armor and unique bloods went up at the time when there was probably 100's of unique being exploited and monopolised while players that wanted their own sig was "forced" to buy raw scale pieces for increased price. Now with that monopoly gone we are left to: the misinformation, fake sales, fake sales to alts, constantily advertising inflated prices and being aggressive to whoever wanna buy it for less, fishing for whales and all kind of manipulation that gives impression that you should overpay 5x now for everything. I wish there was actually in game auction tool with set rules.

I THINK this post highlights the server crossing issue. It's an older post but still happens as far as I know. I don't think it was fixed. It happened to me when I moved from Harmony to Cadence, I've since already uncovered and combined frags from there, it was more confusing than a real problem, but either way still a bug imo

I belive there is, i think even I reported it among other peoples. Upon crossing server with frags after cleaning frags become messed up old prepatch frags iron instead of metal, armour with no type, steel instead of alloy. Will copy link in edit if i find it, hold on.

Well I tried out the game about a decade ago and quit after two days, and recently started with Wurm Unlimited so I feel like I have a foot in both doors so to speak. My worthless 2 cents: 1. "the game feels old" as a lot of people would say. Half of that is the kinesthetics are garbage. You can't jump, walking is slow and it feels like you're floating above the ground, the animations barely exist. The basic feel of the game walking around and fighting and doing things is very thin. As someone who is just old enough to have played a MUD briefly right when they stopped existing, this game feels like a thin graphical interface over a mud and this isn't a deal breaker to me but it's an instant turn off for a lot of people who have simply either gotten used to the improvement in this regard or are younger and take them for granted. The other half is the graphics which I probably don't need to elaborate on. 2. There are significant barriers to getting started in this game. I don't know what the tutorial is like now versus ten years ago when I tried it but needless to say for a game that demands so much of you in terms of time and learning the complexities of the game the on ramp needs to be as smooth as you can possibly get it. A lot of players who would otherwise enjoy the sort of game this is are going to quit because they can't figure out what to do or there are too many hassles to getting started (finding empty space, mobs spawning everywhere) and other games are more accessible. I spent a year of my life playing nothing but Dwarf Fortress and I still thought this game was too hard to get into. 3. A core aspect of the game, the building, is simply done better elsewhere. The terrain modification and building was probably revolutionary when the game released but there are a ton of survival/crafting games now that don't deal with the square grid limitations, and they also let you toss up servers so you can play those multiplayer too. I don't know if the online half has more content than unlimited but I was frankly shocked at how little options you have in terms of furniture and decorations in this game, this seems like one of the simpler sorts of content to add and for a game that has existed so long it's legitimately weird there aren't more options. Given that I don't play the online version of this game, I actually have a question: What is the value added to this game being an MMO? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is a persistent world where the long grind to skill up holds value, essentially being a game for people who have a very high tolerance of delayed gratification. If the game had better core gameplay (combat/building) I think more people would tolerate the long grind to mastery. Alternately if you ditch the grind and go all in on an accessible and decently quick creative sandbox I think people would play that too, but the combination of an outdated sandbox with a long grind is going to be a very niche thing.

live now on Druska, Planks have replaced arrow shafts in the fragment drop table The archeology tools test option will now give a journal and paper A bug with identification power on first identify action has been resolved. hopefully this brings the average at 90 skill with 90ql tools to 2.5 runes. Partially identified fragments (wooden fragment, metal fragment) have been reworked to better reflect what they are instead of being mostly weapons. Any Bulk item will not get runes or casts so it can be easily stored.

I got from 80 to 90 creating 700 half finished charcoal piles (max 10 logs I could carry) using <10ql logs. Got .15 gains per 10 half piles with food affinity, coffee and sb. These piles fit nicely in rafts in a cart to be dropped and finished later with high ql logs. One big fire and collecting tons of ash and charcoal 🤪

I agree +1 When 2 missions w/ the same action occur, the older one should receive all the completion counts. Every time. No matter what. 100% of the time. Unless that's not the way it's supposed to work. In that case, we should change how it's supposed to work 😉 Teeebomb

Hi everyone, just wanted to say, thank you and love you all for the warm thoughts and support. The house took 3 years to remodel and less than an hour to be gone. When you cook with oil please Please be very careful because all it takes is a few drops for a flash fire to start. We've managed to salvage some clothes, this kindle, but both computers burnt to scrap and everything else. The fire just spread so fast, Jabirta and I was cut off from each other. I thought she was trapped in the fire. The cats where no where to be seen ( they passed from the smoke, all together so there was no pain for them ) I grabbed a shirt covered my face and tried toget get to her. She got out the side door, the flame shot out from the kitchen hitting my left arm and left side of face. I got out the front, ( those know my joke about walrusing ) and floped out the front door rolling and scooting across the yard till some friends grabbed me and pulled me to saftey. All of this took place in about the time it took for that to be read. Everyone has been so supportive during this awful time. With words, hugs, prayers and anyway they've been able to. Lilychaos put a page together for a way of friends and family to help if they can. A very very close friend asked how they could help, I said I could use a hug, they sent me 3. Never fear, I Will be back, cheerful, moody, lots of fun, always there, and never to far to come help. Love your family, pets, friends and neighbors. Don't waste your energy on hate instead spend it on the ones you love and care for. Don't drag someone down but instead help lift them up, and always always be ready to give someone a hug, cause you never know that just might the differerance in someones life. Love you all Stormblade ( Mike )

You're exploring the lands of Wurm, gathering information on a settlement that used to be there when you finally locate the hidden cache. You dig it up and alongside the small token and other goodies is a piece of either Dragon scale or Drake hide. Each cache has a chance of having either some scale or hide but not both. The maximum amount of scale or hide that can be found is 0.10kg per cache. RNG would play a role in whether you get scale, hide or none. Having higher Archaeology and Restoration would increase the chance of getting some.
