    There was plenty of fun events at the impalong. Fabricant was running deal or no deal. Then there was wurmian lawn darts, fish slapping competitions, cupcake pushing, chess and checkers matches, just to make a few. And yes some gms made some appearances and spawned some baddies for us all to try to survive. It was a lot of fun and itโ€™s always great to see the community come together and help each other. I canโ€™t wait for next year!

    Shout out to Reddragon for being an awesome bartender at the impalong and never refusing to pour a drink regardless how drunk one was ๐Ÿคฃ and to clean the beerstein, countertop, floor..loll great menu!!! I had such a fun time at the Friendship Bay Imaplong it felt like a vacation away from home!!! The people were so nice!! Thanks to @SmackedDownfor coming in the church when I said my priest hopefully would reach 100 favor (she did), thanks to Jacqulina for being silly with me for always finding me and taking some screenshots together!!! Thanks for a very fun impalong @VirusMDwe will be back next year Once I got back to my deed my Wemp was ready to Harvest...just like that Wurm made it reality to real life saying vacation's over go back to work๐Ÿ˜…!!! Thank you everyone for the great times at the impalong I had a blast!!!

    Currently the permission required to bury corpses on deed is the terraforming permission. It would help if this was separated. This comes up at for example arena fights in impalongs, like we had over the last few days at Friendship Bay. A good fight is great fun but quickly covers the entire arena in corpses, to the point you can't see a thing anymore. Obviously the terraforming permission can only be given out to trusted individuals, so staff members have to clean up all the time. If burying corpses was its own permission, everyone fighting could help keep the arena visible.

    The Independence Exploration Map! Please take a quick moment to read the description in this thread and see examples on how to submit to the map at the bottom. Map Link: -> Link to map <- The administrators of this map: @tronn- @Aristia- @Nordlys Special thanks to @Yagaand @Substrfor developing and maintaining such an easy tool for exploration in Wurm! Map policy: The aim for this map is to be a supplement to the other community maps out there, and to get as good an exploration feel as possible. To achieve this goal we now welcome everyone in the community to submit their findings to this map, as long as its withing the needs and rules for this map. The community of Independence have over several years had an "opt-in policy" for the community map. We dont think this is the time or place to touch or change that subject - so for this map we will only add deeds if its the mayor who submits it. If the community of Independence should change their minds about this, we will follow the general publics opinion. We will add: Bridges, tunnels, canals, guard towers and mission structures regardless of where they are placed (on and off deed). Deeds will be added if submitted by the mayor and removed as soon as a disband note is seen. We will not add: Roads, highways, resources (clay, tar), old deeds (archaeology) or colossi to this map. This both because there are other very good maps for such, but also because we think the official map dumps offer a good enough solution. Features: 1. Map coordinates The map offers a common type of map grid (as an optional overlay), using the same denotation as the in-game map (for example "E 24"). However, to place and find locations in a much more detailed way the new map is based on "tile coordinates" (x, y), making it possible to narrow down locations to a single tile on the server! This allows us to place deeds and landmarks much more precisely. 2. Zoom! The map provides various zoom levels, allowing to zoom in from a view of the entire server to close-ups of single deeds. 3. Layers! Deeds, Tunnels, Canals, Bridges etc. are actually map layers which can be toggled on and off. You can also choose among two map types (Terrain, Topographical). 4. Search! The map offers an easy-to-use search function for deeds, guard towers and mission structures. 5. Selecting locations and copy coordinates! You are able to select any point on the map and save the coordinates for future use. Submitting data and contributing to the map: Please make a post in this thread to report new or changed data. Do not send PMs, neither on the forum, discord nor in-game! Click once on the map to see the coordinates in the browser url and "Selected Location" field. Either copy the link or copy the coordinates from the "Selected Location" field and paste the result here. Deeds: Please use the settlement name and the coordinates of the settlement token. Guard towers, Mission structures: Please submit the coordinates for such, along with what type of structure it is and the name of it. Tunnels, Canals, Bridges: Please report the coordinates of all points describing the route (starting point, "bends" if any, ending point). These elements can also be given a name so please add that also if the local community has agreed on one. If the bridge, tunnel or canal is too short we might not have space to add in the name to the map as we dont want to clutter up the map too much. There also seems to be a typo: the second 'R' has been omitted from 'recruitment'.

    Timing couldn't be worse for me (ban school summer break ๐Ÿค“). Still managed tot introduce my 11yo to a Wurm impalong. We played a chess game and he won ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Ofc after he went to bed I had to rematch and win for my journal goal lol. In the few hours of my stay I have seen (GM spawned cute chicks and devilish beasts) and smelled (Fabs cheesy DonD) all the wonders of Wurm people coming together. Thx to Virusmd and all the great staff and the glorious impers and priests to bring such joy to us many. *Bows*

    Okay after banging my head repeatedly on the keyboard. I finally had to go to google translate to translate the translation. For those of you who are familiar with Norse Futhark, the Viking 'Written" word the notes on a town message board are written in younger Futhark. However they do not translate into clean English my notes on the top left one. and this could be pure gibberish but it's close. and sorry if I see stuff written in runes I have to know what it means. Topline (Annunsivin) Finish for "The most generous" Second Line "Aufilloki" Greek for Mistletoe Lines 3 & 4 (Hi' Will will.) English 5 (ani wari wil) Arabic "I see will". Signature (Bili'l alil) Maltese for "By the way". I Thought it was a gibberish google translate thing. But then why is the entire note on the right all written in Turkish. 1) (Fener file) Lantern net 2) (fill ak) fill white 3) (laakirk far) Light headlight 4) (virer saak) Headlight 5) (Va ar) There are Not gunna get into the third letter at the bottom cause my eyes aren't good enough to read the runes even at high resolution they blur to much. If anyone else wants to Take a crack at it. This webpage has the key at the top. It is trial and error with a lot of runes because the more represent the sound they make instead of a letter (Not being Latin based) However google translate can take "Phonically correct words in other languages and translate to English) I provided to direct letter for letter translation to the runs I was able to discover.     Since the advent of treasure hunting, I think the number of gems on the market has risen significantly, and their prices have fallen correspondingly. This has come after the accepted meta shifted away from priests using gems to grind Vessel. So this might be a good time to get some ideas together for possible uses for gems. I will start the ball rolling: Witches' Brew Crush a source crystal to get source salt. Mix a source salt with water to get potion base liquid. Crush a gem to get one of several types of gem salt. Mix some potion base with any gem salt to create the corresponding witch's brew - a one-use potion. Some ideas for types timed boost to natural healing instant healing instant disease cure timed damage resistance instant Refresh instant Stamina boost instant Favor timed boost to Favor regen The potency of these potions should be capped by the gem QL, with star gems and rare gems each doubling the value. Natural substances skill should increase the chance of producing a quality near to the maximum.

    The schedule for games has been pretty rough all week because things happen, overrun, or get delayed all the time... and it's fine, it's the nature of a community event ran and organised to be fun instead of totally inflexible. A lot of people have really enjoyed the GM antics this week, spawning mobs and bringing a lot of unique combat fun for a lot of people. If you don't enjoy that then I suggest you organise your own impalong with a strict schedule and no GMs allowed. I'm sure it would be popular. But seriously... the organisers have put a colossal amount of work into running this event. Sure, not everything goes to plan all the time, but what matters is how much work they've done and how extremely hard they've tried. Overall, it has been a huge success, with nearly a hundred people in local at peak time on most days. And yet you're here flaming on the forums because a fishing event didn't happen exactly on schedule in a community event that's free to attend? Embarrassing edit: wait were those replies satire? It's genuinely hard to tell lmao edi2: confirmed a few posts below... this isn't satire...

    I had so.much.fun here! Such good company, truly hilarious conversations and made several new friends. Ath fought and died well in the arena, and helped with imping the burgeoning BS station. Tosca did her healing and drizzles, and made it to 100 faith at the sermon party, WOOT!     I had the same sort of idea, even if they just allow us to hitch something like a donkey to the small cart (giving more use to donkeys) and allow us to lead the donkey not even riding it this could become a new meta, for example, imagine harvesting a massive farm and you can lead 4 donkeys dragging small carts. Could be fun right?

    One of the towers we were tasked with finding for a treasure clue was downright impossible. Thankfully we ran into Sidereal on her deed and she knew where it was located based on the player name. It had been built on the very tip top of Troll King Mountain on Pristine by someone that had stopped playing nearly a decade ago. She had us hop on her cart and took us thru a maze of a secret cave up to the top. Some of the mine had collapsed and she had to remove walls. Since the mine was hidden, we would not have found it, nor had the ability to reopen the route. We couldn't even see the tower with a spyglass, it was so high up. Thanks Auntie Sid! So this is a suggestion for a feature to be added. Ask a guard at a tower to locate [EDIT] a distant [EDIT] tower. Functionality could be similiar to the locate spell, analyze ability and find route on highways to at least give general directions of distance and compass directions to the [EDIT] distant [EDIT] tower listed. A new interface would be given when interacting with a guard, and a table provided to the players giving the numerical range based on the guards response. How it could work Player interacts with a guard that is within range of the guard's home tower, via right click menu. This brings up a drop down interface similiar to Find Route used on highways. [EDIT] The player selects a tower name from the drop down box. [EDIT] The guard responds with distance and direction, such as "Tower X is pretty far away from you East of North." Restrictions The player and the guard both have to be free from combat. To prevent spamming, there is a cooldown given to that guard's tower and to the player. Functionality on PVP servers could be restricted to kingdom only, or disabled entirely based on community feedback. Thanks for reading and have an awesome day! Soluna

    When new players start in the tutorial they might sometimes get confused, misunderstand something or just feel alone. This suggestion aims to allow experienced players to help new players in an accessible way and help new players feel like they're welcome and valued. Haven Portal With this idea any established (premium?) player would get the option to build a Haven Portal (not costing too many materials). This is a new portal structure, like a PvP portal, that can be built on/off deed and that can by default be used by anyone. When you use the portal you will be transported to Haven (the tutorial server) in a spirit form, without any items (maybe armour could be allowed). Mentor status In this spirit form you can only move around Haven and chat, you cannot pick anything up, nor drop anything, nor interact with anything (except passing through gates, doors etc.). You will also have an additional title "Mentor" while on the tutorial server (maybe it could become an title you can use also outside of the tutorial server after you've visited Haven in spirit form at least once, to let other players know you're open to help after the tutorial as well). When you want to go back you can use a portal on Haven and you will be returned to the portal you used to go there (or the location where it was, in case it has decayed). Being on the tutorial server means you can help out new players with any questions they might have and optionally the new player could get the option of going to a mentor's portal instead of to a starter town when they leave Haven (not sure about the implementation details about this option, but maybe it would show options on the portal for any mentors that have been on Haven at the same time as the player?). This option could help people to spread out to find more of the "wild" areas to settle in or find settlements to join. The portal would have an option to disallow new players from entering the server at this portal (thanks, DaletheGood). If there are dangers outside of the exit portal (aggressive mobs, thorns, fenced in area) the option could be disabled for that exit with a message showing the reason (and maybe reporting the issue automatically to the mods in some cases, if it is obviously malicious). The option for new players to teleport to Haven portals instead of starter towns could of course also be excluded, as the focus of this suggestion is to bring mentors to new players. Haven chat channel When an established player goes to Haven (and so gets the title of 'Mentor') they also get access to the Haven chat channel at all times, even when not on the island. It might feel nicer for new players to have mentors' characters on Haven as well when going through the tutorial, so the mentor can see what they're doing and guide them better, but having access to the chat at all times could be helpful for monitoring and answering questions that mentors on Haven might not have an answer for. This channel could also show a chat line (in a different colour) to notify mentors outside of Haven when a new player enters Haven, so they know when they might be needed. Reward I think many players would volunteer their time without any additional reward, but optionally new players could (when going premium?) note who helped them the most and that mentor would get mentor points, that could, when accrued, be used to purchase cosmetic rewards (or something else that would not be necessary for anyone to get and would not affect gameplay).     The impalong was amazing and one of the best I've been to. The local chat was constantly great, lots of amazing people and of course, a massive amount of work done. The games as always were fantastic, and I want to thank everyone who kept me busy and skilling away. A massive thank you to each person who also helped us clutch some extra silver to keep going higher with the weapons too, without you we'd have been buggered. I'd also like to put out an extra special thank you to those who played with me, against me and just generally helped me and the weaponsmiths out, regardless of what you did. That's the players, the people who gave us the work to do, and the staff members keeping things clear and helping out, keeping things clear and keeping supplies topped up. As always, Virus and Goldfinch show they can do this, and they do it amazingly. As for what I did, I'll never forget. I made a stupid throne at the forges, embarrassed myself in local via the worlds stupidest innuendo (thanks @ChampagneDragon), improved weapons, slapped people with fish, got punched and kicked a bunch by Alpengeist and Bubbles, and I even managed to kick Enki's rear twice to secure one of the renames I wanted for a while on my cape, and another silly one to come. Kindrashae also was a star to me, helping me get the skin token I wanted, and a massive thank you to the wonderful @Siderealwho managed to get my fancy new dye found and to me stupidly quick (just don't tell her I told you lot, she came to me to give me dyes, realised she left them in the mailbox, came back, opened trade and then realised she had left them in the mailbox again.) Virus and Gold, it's a wonder to me that during the moments of utter chaos, everything went smoother than I think anyone could expect. I know you've been doing this for a while now, but a massive thank you to you both for keeping things fun and engaging for us all. You've both been amazing to all of us who attended. Only one supreme and two rare weapons done this year. I'll be trying harder next time. So, see you next year.

    A number of similar suggestion have been made before, and I am very much in favor to implement at least one of them (this one included). Possible: Chariot style driving (maybe modified small cart for) leading the hitched animal for additional speed (I recall the 5-6km/h when dragging myself as an f2p with the need to stop dragging before running from mobs) riding the hitched animal (e.g. donkey for f2p), maybe hitching restricted to donkeys and mules (?).

    Ok, here is a nice and simple way to add in cellars: Construction 1. Player plans a surface building 2. Player right clicks to plan a floor tile and clicks "check for foundaiton" 2a. Game checks the first depth of all four corners to see if it is deep enough to support a full story (and also checks water level, if the cellar would extend below water leve lt is prevented from being constructed) 2b. If everything is good it responds positively (go to 3), if not it responds negatively (go to 6) 3. User plans a stair opening (of the type they want) using a shovel (this is not possible if the above check comes back negative) 4. They construct this opening as per normal, and then bam, instant cellar (dirt just magically vanishes) 4a. The cellar has a new type of wall ("dirt wall") that can be converted into any household wall in a similar way to reinforced mine tiles. 5. They can extend the cellar anywhere under their house where a floor has been built and dirt depth conditions have been met 6. If the dirt is too shallow, the option to "lay foundation" is given 6a. Lay foundation will fail if a tunnel exists under the house, or within 1 tile of the house ("the ground is too unstable to lay a foundation") 6b. Otherwise, it lowers the rock level (via a long series of mining actions, akin to surface mining) and thus allows a cellar to be built (it essentially converts some rock into dirt) 6c. This can be done while underground and expanding a cellar. Decay 1. When a house decays, as soon as the floor above a cellar decays away, the cellar tile itself vanishes and is filled with dirt. 2. To prevent stranding, a player in a cellar with no access point can click any wall and select "dig to surface" to teleport up to the surface.
