So, since returning to Wurm a few months ago, I promised myself that I wouldn't take on another big deed project for a while. Well, that all changed when the fire nation attacked when I accidentally saw this scene in the trailer for Wurm Online on Steam: ... I absolutely love the look of this huge underground world and I want to build one for myself, specifically a sort of "pirate cove" theme - with all sorts of buildings, waterways, bridges, and hidden secrets within. Part of the appeal for me is that most people (myself included) don't build their deeds underground, and so it would be a pretty unique project. However, that also means that I've never seen and walked around anything like it in-game before, so it isn't easy to get ideas and inspiration on. Hopefully that's where the Wurm-forum-hivemind can come in! I'd love it if people could post below with screenshots and/or videos of any underground deeds they've come across / own. I'd love to know about some more I can visit in person (I already know I need to visit Nadroj's deed on Exodus, Magranon's Rest, sometime soon.) I have a good understanding of the technical possibilities and limitations thanks to threads like this one, but I want some artistic inspiration so that I can start designing! Extra points if you can find any examples of cave constructions with more natural-looking cave ceilings instead of the typical flat ceilings that most have. Thanks for your help! 😁 tl;dr: please post cool underground deed screenshots below

Even if it's public you don't have to respond to it. All you do is stir more drama for no reason.

Thank you all for the intest, however this is an issue that should have been, and will be resolved privately, as I described to both of you. There is no need to drag people through the dirt over a misunderstanding.

Was intended, and no it was not in reference to you. "Huge amounts of anti-social behavior" can again be attributed to the huge amount of new players the game had, and continues to see on Cadence. If I recall my past playtime on SFI and compare it to how things are on NFI, they're no different to me. My main point is simply that the "issues" seen on NFI (just Cadence, really) are no different than on SFI. They're just far more visible due to there being far more new players who are not as versed in handling conflict and issues in a sandbox. Labeling an entire cluster as "toxic, immature, etc." and demanding they be kept away based on a small portion of the playerbase is just bad.

I am in favor of the idea, players who started after or were out during a particular skins timeframe should have a fair chance to obtain them at some point. If not in harder treasure chests perhaps available as a random monthly skin on the marks store like the Jackal skins. As for the 'market' I disagree with that being a reason not to revive old skins in some limited way at some point.
  7. 3 points
Why not? Maybe the hamsters need an extra break in the summer heat, can we get those lil guys some ice water for working so hard?
  8. 2 points
As the title says, add old monthly skins to treasure loot chests. The idea would be to add the monthly skins as they age past a certain point. Maybe all of 2020's skins first, then 2021's once 2023 hits, ect. It's been said there's been discussion about a solution to the problem of old skins being totally unavailable, and I reckon this is a good way to bring them back.

Crater is an great Wurm Monument and nice hunting area, so take some grass for your horses - for keep Gurubear's Crater untouched, we didnt make a camp. After slay fences around hole will be bashed, hole closed.

Dragon Raids (Double Dragon Raids) are still quite fun to attend, and get the title. I think being able to find a .01 scale or a hide in a chest (not every chest) would make the new feature more popular.

I think the Wurm community has built a lot of unwritten rules over the years, worse still these rules seems to vary from player to player, as does the reaction when someone comes across a new player not following these invisible rules they've had pretty much 0 chance of learning. I imagine we are probably all guilty of breaking some unwritten rule at some point, generally thats how we learn they are there in the first place. While I do not doubt some players have subjected people to some truely nasty behavior over the years (that risk exists anywhere online and its why most places including Wurm has moderators) I think the majority of scenarios I see branded as "toxic" on Wurm are just blown way out of proportion. The word is thrown about so easily now and people do not even see the irony in it. I think a lot of the toxicity could be banished with just a bit more tolerance on all sides. Forgive and forget, and if its truely unforgiveable let a moderator deal with it and move on.

Smell the irony. I would be interested to hear the explanation of how my preferring to no longer have rude and selfish neighbours is toxic and harmful. I experienced a huge amount more anti-social behaviour in months on NFI than I did in years on SFI. Although, maybe you aren't referring to me, because I am not "spewing about NFI toxicity" so much as saying I found the dominant culture to be thoroughly unenjoyable. Maybe that culture has matured somewhat, but as of not so long ago it was still apparent in comments to the effect that only opinions that count are those of NFIers. My mindset and attitude? Everyone should get to play HOW they want. Everyone should be treated with respect. Everyone who can use my assistance may have it. My solid experience across 3 northern islands tells me that a merge would likely damage 1 and 2. Everyone getting to play WHERE they want is already limited, so continuing to limit it and thus allowing everyone to continue playing HOW they want seems to make sense to me.

Perhaps modifying something thats already ingame, and make loadable under certain criteria. Spiked barriers and siege shields. Granted siege shields take some work to make, especially compared to slapping down a cheap fence. Can even reward the placer points for any dmg the barriers do to Rift critters. Imho this can be taken further with the siege weapons (ballista at the very least) and turrets. It would certainly mix things up a bit with Rift gameplay, which atm becomes monotonous very fast. Additionally perhaps enable some Rift critters (club wielders) to bash the simpler rail fences.

Well, I would find it revolting to be forced to PvP to visit other PvE servers. Also, such a construct would raise tons of problems, bugs, and exploits.

Wurm is finite, like all else. The things we own in Wurm are also finite. Even if we were to collect one of every single item ever made, we would at some point reach that goal, and there would be nothing more to collect until the Devs created something new. But names and stories have lives of their own, and this is what Rockcliff Museum was built to honor. It was built to honor all of you. Most everything we make has a signature, and the names of the people in our world are worlds unto themselves. Without the people, the things have no meaning at all. Wurm has never really been about the things. It has been about us, our stories, our struggles, battles, beautiful estates, forest cabins, exploring with friends, killing uniques together, having adventures, reforming the very land we live on. Like Wurm, Rockcliff Museum is not really about the things, either. It is about you. Everyone can contribute, and it is my dream that everyone does contribute, whether it is a donation of an item, or a story about someone who already has an item in the Museum. There will be a website created where you all will be able to do that. It is also my dream that you see your story here. I hope as you wander and look at the signatures on items, you remember the people you met along your own journey. I hope you will re-experience the beauty of this world here that we made it together, and continue to make it together every hour. Everyone is invited to the Grand Opening. Bring your friends, come anytime between 10am and 10pm Sat Sept 3rd. I will be there all day that day. After the 3rd, it will remain open to all as long as forever lasts in a world like ours.

[20:13:04] You are still mentally exhausted from your last show. Tell us how long since the last show, like SB does: [20:13:40] You need to wait 4 minutes until you can toggle sleep bonus again. EDIT: Remove the cooldown, no reason for it; a band-aid for an old system, just remove the cooldown.

read the topic i link in my first response about sheffy explaining what shady people vs decent people do with villagers they recruit. i have had many many people join my on diferent deeds over the years as my citizens and what i do as give me knowledge and tools and share some of my resources with them(while keeping safe the things i want to keep for my own use only) and i help them make coin for themselves that is great, for decent people who take in new players a big success is when they learn the game and learn how to make money and decide to move out and make their own place. not when they make lots of coin for you to keep! i know this is difficult for you to get but you taking 50% of peoples money because you allow them the privilege of living in a house on your deed is horrible and abusive.

Aren't you the guy that kicked someone out of your alliance without a proper vote? The guy was invited to a private slaying and first you demanded that your alliance be invited as well and then when the guy in question told you it wasn't even his unique he was just an atendee you told him if he went he'd be kicked? Then did the crazy vote on your discord? Oh aren't you also the guy who scammed Weslock and Pixieblossom? Weslock wanted to start his own new deed and showed you a spot he wanted to deed to see what you thought of the location. Didn't you then right infront of him proceed to deed it for yourself and said it'll be easier for him this way. Yes you gave him perms but a month later after he'd settled in you extorted him 50s to buy the deed? You did the same to Pixieblossom apparantly (or similar). I also heard you tried it to a 3rd person (Rayen) who saw through it and was not caught out. When a villager joins your deed it's kind of unfair to expect them to pay you for half of everything they sell. Rockshards are everywhere and sounds like you had plenty to spare. He was also doing other chores and tasks for you on your deed. Having a villager is gave and take - it's not just give on their part. A villager shouldn't just be a way for you to earn money and exploit. I hope Muunkey finds a new home and is treated better...

Remember that if your going to call out people for their wrongdoing's that sometimes things you've done to others will come back to bite you. Next time when you don't like what others are doing maybe you should revert back to the voting them out of the Alliance or Deed in Discord without the option to vote no.

Found a way to move completed furniture up floors. Involves a spiral staircase, Stand on central column and use a camera angle that shows Item at base of stairs and the floor tile the staircase is turned towards. Requires a couple tries with the Move>Place function but you should be able to place something right at floor tile near the top landing, some larger items require you to hit a sweet pot with the open gap next to the landing. but it is possible, and I have been able to repeat it with different items. Such as a Full Bulk Storage Bin I drug/place all the way to the floor I was building on.

Thank you for the shout out. I'm glad you like it. Disclaimers: I'm terrible at screen shots. The cave is not built to optimize screen shots. I think the scale of it needs to be seen in person (in avatar?). Everything is 'a work in progress.' I **squirrel!!** between building, decorating, grinding, AH, bit of gardening..... wait! brb - * Squirrel!* .................. I am very happy to have visitors. Indeed, as Aleck can attest, I make it a requirement for completion of any sales transaction completed at Starkers. Required payment always includes taking the tour and saying how great it looks. (Regardless of actual opinion.) Added bonus of a visit, you get to see the rest of the deed, too. The Maze, The Chessboard, stables, docks.... Attempt at some screen shots. But, again, if you'd like to take a look around, just visit Starkers on Melody at around O15/16. The deed can be seen from the starter town of Overture and is a short run on highway to the deed. Guard tower protection all the way. "The Maze" is seen clearly from Overture. From the entrance: Crowning Jewel - The Cathedral (Disregard the statue. Out of place there. Was just sitting there for screenshot for an auction. Set up an auction page for someone who wasn't comfortable doing it themselves.): Banquet Hall: A cathedral needs staff. Both the deed mate and I have a few priest alts. So, a simple 'dormitory' for the "monks:" Different view of the dormitory, for scale: Cathedral Annex/Offices - New Construction/still underway. About 1/3rd done For now. Until the next addition...... Hard to see the interior hallways. Just can't get a good angle or far enough away while still seeing it, but just for general idea, one intersection looking up: Best I can do for screen shots. Come visit.

So... using the server restart to write a few lines. Normally there is a lot of stuff you can complaint about in Wurm. However this impalong is something you cannot complaint about. Everything is running smooth and a lot of happy visitors are having shiny tools and amazing looking armour. There is no real reason for not being here, so come over and visit it!

I agree. Weight would definitely be a factor and without the involvement of helium airships would have to be magically held aloft. Perhaps pixie dust? I would love to see a flying dragon. It's makes little sense they are permanently grounded when they have the wings to fly. And it really would give archery a massive boost.

Indeed! Curved walls would add many more building options and I've always liked the look of round towers over boxy square ones.

Here are the rules for Deal or No Deal which will be happening throughout this impalong. There are 22 chests. The chests contain values ranging from 1 point to 1,000,000 points. At the start of the game, you select one chest to keep. This will be yours. You will eliminate the other chests throughout the game, starting with 5 in the first round and 3 in every round after that. After each round, a mysterious banker will send an offer for your chest. If you sell your chest to the banker, the points are yours and the contents of the chest go to the banker. If you no deal for the entire game, you win the contents of your chest. You will also be allowed to swap the final 2 chests at the very end. The top placed people with the most points will win grand prize raffle tickets! 3 tickets for first place, 2 tickets for second, 1 ticket for third, fourth and fifth. As an extra little twist, the banker may offer extra prizes but only if the million point chest is still in play! Please think about those offers and don't be afraid to deal! Leaderboard so far: Xallo - 120,000 points Tronn - 100,000 points Atheline - 97,000 points Shenjiwurm - 95,000 points Calebxephrime - 70,000 points Cherry - 55,000 points Roarkindarkeion - 50,000 points VirusMD - 30,000 points Queenofchaos - 20,000 points Zachariah - 7,500 points Chew - 7,000 points Welmari - 1,000 points Potion - 120 points Madnath - 100 points Miralux - 100 points Tomatoes - 100 points Quadrell - 100 points Stryken - 25 points Sidereal - 5 points Champagnedragon - 2 points

You're of course entitled to your opinion, but your lack of concern doesn't remove that of those who share mine. If rifts are here to stay then I don't think it is a waste of development time to find a long term solution for the server littering they are causing. If rifts had been something that the devs had set a limited timeframe for, like "they'll be gone in 2 months time" then yes - But they're seemingly a permanent feature of the game and will cause a permanent and recurring issue. I also don't think it's fair to promote your own opinion as the only one that's not based on feeling "holier than thou". You act as if the only way to think that is the correct one is your own, which is ironic considering you're trying to get me to back down by suggesting that I'm acting superior to others.

im not sure how i feel about the whole thing but if it did happen i think this would deserve its own skill, even if it required high cloth tailoring to make some of the parts and like @wipeoutsaid i think it would be better if they had more defined roles than ships, if you want it to be 3 models make one an easier to make personal transport, one a dedicated passenger transport and the other one cargo and no passengers.

My "home" island is Xanadu, but I constantly visit other islands in the South cluster, for slayings and rifts and impalongs and just for fun. They are all part of the same playable area, as far as I'm concerned. And I want to be able to visit the North cluster slayings and rifts and impalongs too with my main. The game is better when played together.

I used to own the land you recently deeded and was in the process of retrieving items I had left behind (lamps) and noticed you had deeded it but had not done any development yet. It has been brought to my attention by @TeeeBOMBthat I should have probably let you know first before taking the lamps I had planted. My apologies. If you would like these lamps back (8 gold and 8 iron), let me know and we can make arrangements for me to return them. Regards, Kage

So, let me shed some light on the possibility of a merge and what it will actually take. There are technical challenges here that haven't been present in other clusters: NFI has a number of changes that have yet to be implemented on SFI. This was done intentionally to see the results long-term. I won't list them all here, but we need to review these changes and see what the results are. These changes have caused disparity in the code base making NFI and SFI currently incompatible with each other. A merge isn't as simple as opening the borders. Then there are other concerns: What of the effects on the economies? In particular, SFI's economy would literally transform NFI's economy overnight - for better or worse. What of the effects on the people in both clusters? This thread is a testament to the fact that opinions are split. These concerns and challenges are the primary reasons why a merge is not in the plans for the short term. Long-term remains to be seen, but we'd be talking beyond a 6-to-9-month timeframe if we do this. The sheer code work involved alone will require scheduling, and we have a lot of work on our plates already. With regards to conducting a poll, one thing I've asked of the development team is to dust off the in-game voting mechanic and figure out a way to deduplicate votes from alts to have a more fair and accurate account of what the player base wants. I do not want a person with more money or silver to weigh more heavily than a person who simply keeps a single account going, so it's important to me to get that right. This isn't our highest priority at the moment, with the coming update taking precedence. Edit: One other thing I would likely see us do before a merge is to allow travel to Epic first. Again though, there are code complications that must be handled first. This is why it isn't possible right now. I hope this clears up my intentions with regards to a merge. The TL;DR is "it's not a 'never', but it's certainly not any time soon".

Things to watch out for when talking to recruiters: They suggest you join their village immediately, and that you click "Yes" when asked if you want to teleport there and/or they ask you to type "/vteleport"... without explaining that you would be burning up your once-in-a-lifetime village teleport to get to their village. They don't tell you where their village is located, making it harder to leave afterwards (often in combination with #1). They assign a "project" for you to work on. Common examples include flattening land and "surface mining" exposed rock, but might include tending crops, or making bricks/mortar. These are all activities that can be performed by an unskilled worker, but they also have a significant cash value. They provide tools, maybe enchanted to help you work faster (the "Wind of Ages" enchantment or sometimes "Blessings Of The Dark"). This makes you more productive without gaining skill faster. They provide food, beds, guard towers and other amenities... and ask for donations to help with their expenses (especially in conjunction with #4). Honest people are up front about the location of their village, and the cost of getting there. They won't try to get you to make a one-way trip, but will instead help you make an informed decision about how to get there. And while it might seem like a fair exchange to you, to give up your time working on a project in exchange for food, or beds or tools or whatever, you can be sure that there's a good reason why your recruiter isn't simply doing that work themselves. The fact is that there are many items that aren't difficult or time-consuming to make for an established player, but which are still a big step up for a new player. A decent player will give you those items for free or at minimal cost; a more devious one will try to get your time and effort out of you in exchange.
