Turkish Delight Fan Club Meetup - Year 1110, Celebration. Our special guest celebrating our favourite sweet treat. Hello! This time myself, Fabricant and Steelmerc would like to invite you back to Celebration to celebrate our favourite delicacy, turkish delight. We've even managed to get a super special guest to join us! That's right, John Goblin Leader will be there to get smacked and beaten with enlargened turkish delight bars until he gives us all his blood. Due to future event scheduling, we'll be doing this on the offpeak time of Friday. In hopes to maximize player count, we'll be doing this at 8PM BST. Check the timer below. And in advance, the event is being held here: https://celebration.yaga.host/#1088,1131 And if you're wondering why this is turkish delight themed, let me get you up to speed.... I like Turkish Delight. I do. A lot if people don't like Turkish delight, I mean Fry's Turkish delight. The type with the chocolate on it and the purple wrapper. But I like it. A lot of people say "ugh Turkish delight that's disgusting. How can you eat that? It's like eating perfume, it's like eating old women's perfume. Like lavender water, or rose water or whatever it is. How can you like that?" But I like it. I like turkish Delight. I don't like it enough to get it for every day, or every week. In fact I can't remember the last time I got a Turkish delight. But every now and then, I'll be in a shop and I walk by the shelves with all the chocolate and I'll see a Turkish delight and I'll get it. It's nice, I like it. I like Turkish Delight. Rules of engagement for this is as follows: If a tome is dropped, we may roll it or reserve it, it all depends on what it is. Sorry! If a supreme or fantastic bone is dropped, we will keep it. However in that event, we will instead roll a rare bone we have saved, so regardless of what happens, you have a chance to walk away with one. Corpse, giblets, crown will be rolled. Thank you all, and hope to see you there!

Hey Exo, I didn't expect to be posting here ever, but this post finishes my "I have hosted a slaying on every server but Chaos" journal goal, which is "very real" and will give me the title Event Master when I manage tasks such as "host a tea party for the minions of Jackal," "host an impalong," and "beat two Enkis at once." Honestly up in the air which task I'll skip with the new update. So I've gotta do it right my first (and possibly only) time and I'm doing it with a Champion Black Dragon. Yeah. It's right here https://exodus.yaga.host/#613,1226 at N13. Everything will be rolled. We also trapped Nineol in there with the dragon, we're hoping to get him back. permalink in case the timer breaks again it works fine when I edit the post I'm sure he'll be fine.

I'm sorry to point this out, but i can't help but think that those really give a private-server feeling of decoration. Starting towns are the only thing in the entire game of wurm that haven't actually been built by players, and i think that they should be as "minimal" and humble as possible (like they once were) to give a better feeling of immersion and non-adulteration of the game. If you think they need a few more things, space and tools for functionality, sure... but why colors and rarity? lol. Rarity, endgame bright colors and difficult to build structures are things that should be left to the actual players, as achievements. Of course, the rarer and brighter they are, the sillier they become in my opinon. I'm pretty sure that, do the date, nobody was ever able to create a fantastic colossus in game, the day something like that happens, it should be an epic achievement and a unique and basically impossible to recreate landmark... Except there are already a few in the game that were simply spawned by a GM with a single line of code who apparently thought it was a good idea to do that and randomly throw one on a hill like it's a random rock. If this doesn't feel wrong to you at this point, i'm pretty sure that no amount of text i write is going to convince you, so yeah, i'll leave it as it is. I think i said this more than once in other places, but i haven't "actually" made a suggestion about it, so i thought it was a good idea to post it here and get some feedback to see if it's just me, lol.

[20:42:49] Congratulations, you fully completed Hunting for Treasure and earned the reward: Treasure Hunter Title, 1h Sleep Bonus, 1 Unique Treasure Hunting Reward Roll [20:42:57] A long and slender sword. It could be improved with a lump. A 75 ql sabre....iron... Some people get a glimmersteel cutlass from doing 45 ql maps... So it seems that after all that work doing maps at the end of the day the game just rolls a die for you and gives you a casino reward. Guys, can we please cut it out with the RNG please for the love of god? Have a window pop up letting us choose our own rewards. Literally it's the reason why the rift redeem window was implemented so people could choose their own rewards instead of relying on RNG. I feel cheated to be honest. Bitter, dissapointed, cheated and just annoyed beyond description that this is the reward. If I want to play casinos to get screwed I will not play wurm then.

There are a lot of things in this game that are overly complicated, and not easily deducible. Thanks to the help of CA Help or the Wiki answering this question everytime one of the sacrifice missions comes up. Otherwise, people would have to randomly sacrifice items of varying qualities until the mission progressed. Which is most likely what the the first of us had to do. I can understand the question "What is a mission?", but having to ask why one particular works over another? I would request that the "decent" text be replaced with "30+QL" or at least "decent 30+QL". This would also allow for higher tier missions where it could be 50+QL, 70+QL, or even 90+QL. Without the need of saying above average, highly above average, and excellent. Which would create even more confusion for New Players. Benefits: CA members don't have to answer the same frequent question over, and over, and over New Players don't need to ask for help in order to figure out how to progress these missions I also know people who are too anxious to ask for help, and will often just struggle instead which sucks EXTREMELY easy fix. Only text needs to be changed. No real coding needs to be done. Just one line of code from "decent" to "30+QL" or at least "decent 30+QL" Note to the devs: If you implement my suggestion or others please credit us in the changelogs. It will not only show that you are listening, but will encourage those of us who took the time to post our suggestions, defend them, and find support for them, to continue doing so. Also, people should just always credit their sources.

Well, lets look at the actions that are going to give you a treasure map... ----- Farming/Harvesting - Rares are useless and have no value Botanize/Forage Actions - Two stub skills that offer nothing with regards to rares (or much else!) Digging - A chore at the best of times, and once your deed is done you usually avoid it - rares are 99% worthless Mining/Surface Mining - A skill that is rewarding in its own right, rares are of dubious value though as there is a lot of processing steps between the rare and the outcome Investigating Archeology Sites - This one is the odd one out, rares here often have great value. Then again, its a skill that involves some travel. Fishing/Dredging - Rares here have 0 value; also the skill does not have much use Praying - pointless skill that offers little, 0 value in rares ----- Barring one skill (maybe 2 if you consider mining rares good, which is debatable), treasure maps essentially appear to acting as a buff to skills that offer pointless rares. Adding it to most crafting skills I would be againt, as most crafting rares are a valuable reward in their own right. However, adding it to fighting/butchering isn't really objectionable as the rares obtained from 99% of butchering are also worthless.

Ladies and gentlemen, i am proud to finally present to you all G R E A T T R A C T S O F L A N D It's finally over! It's done! The mountain is tamed! Cannot possibly express enough how much of the credit for this project goes to @JakeRiversWho toiled away during multiple periods of my playtime wavering due to RL and losing my mind over constant wurm client crashes. It'd be halfway complete right now without him. Next up is dirting it over, finishing my deedplanner design for the castle thats going up here and then.....boy oh boy i'm probably gonna need about 60/70,000 marble bricks and mortar.

Incredible map! I know you've essentially already gave permission to use the map for public and private use, so with that being said I'm using this map on my public server for those who would like to check it out or start their wurm lives here.@BaeowulfJust look for "Lethality" in the Wurm Unlimited launcher! Very new server I've created so bear with me while things get customized and polished. Hope to see everyone there enjoying this amazing map by @Brash_Endeavors!! Im a bit confused here tho lol

someone had to tell me what the heck "Decent" means and then later I had to burden/clutter CA help to ask what the heck "Decent" means yet again because i forgot so +1 it's not a "puzzle" to me. "puzzles" are more like finding the location of structures and avatars. obfuscating what "Decent" means is just an annoyance. this is a good idea to keep the "immersive" text and remove the annoyance ^

I literally put my name on my buildings. lol I mean why not? It does make you wonder. When our nearest neighbor left we had no problem waiting for the decay to do it's thing before we utilized the space. In fact we even waited a while after it was all gone just to be sure since he had a habit of taking long breaks from wurm.

I've always wanted the owner of a building to be listed when you examine the wall. I don't see a reason for this not to be displayed. Well not any reason that isn't I built a house and I don't want anyone to know it's me. Which normally means they are up to no good ๐Ÿ˜›

I don't know... I'm kind of disappointed that just getting the maps is based on random chance while essentially grinding -- something I don't do unless I need something done. I set out tasks and do those, I don't grind anything without a purpose, if I can help it. I don't grind skills, skills come to me because I happen to need to do a thing a lot Some are big and require a lot of work, others are more simple, especially now that my house is done. I do get rare rolls once in a blue moon while doing my daily tasks --- but it's rare and if there is only a chance of getting a map, I'm not likely to see one for a long time. I do not see this system as promoting exploration at all, anyway. Finding a treasure isn't exploration. Exploration would be wandering to see or find certain things. What I originally envisioned was something you could find while out exploring to make it even more worth the time spent, or a skill gain or something that make the urge to go out and explore count toward something in the game. As far as I'm concerned treasure maps are a footnote on Archaeology. It's fine, but not something I'll probably get to do much, and I'm an actual explorer. Also, I don't like if you have to fight mobs for the treasure. I'm not much of a fighter. Maybe I just don't play Wurm like most people, though. ๐Ÿ˜•

Could this be because randomly gained affinities were only added 4 years ago? Before that we all had one, beginning affi and only way to get more was in PvP, by killing and getting it from another player.

In any third party program, I believe asking the permission from the person is the best because they might not expect any third party programs that are sharing info in public. Don't know what they will think after they find out. Third party programs ain't compulsive to sign up to play wurm, don't expect people to use it. Some might consider third party programs are some kind of cheating tools and they refuse to give any attention to them. I believe that's why the third party map owner set up a DO NOT POST DEEDS THAT AREN'T YOURS OR HAVE APPROVAL TO POST BY MAYOR rule to forbid players from sharing what they discovered. That is one of the great part of not showing deed on the third party map, that give people an opportunity to start conversation on server chat or whatever communication platform and become more socialize on a MMO. That is what the exploration update are for. Maybe someone who will nice enough to guide u to the destination or simply teleport u if they have a priest in-game. Instead of just looking on a third party map and figure the location out by urself.

  38. 1 point
Agreed. Wurm Online is run on public servers and as a result your character progression on said public servers is more than likely going to be seen and shared by other people. Keeping deed locations secret is a courtesy and not a requirement.
  39. 1 point
That's what I'm wondering. I'm still very much opposed to this whole idea. This game is slow-paced enough that if you stick with it, all the buildings off-deed will decay. It took a year or so, but buildings that were cluttering up my view near Summerholt eventually decayed, and I'm pretty sure they never got that increased decay as the owner rarely was offline for more than 90 days.

I think the idea of opt out is good, it would drive community interactions and player encounters which is sorely needed in an MMO environment, this could also add to the economy and add to trades between players also.
  41. 1 point
I must be spoiled by the expanse of Xanandu but are there no building free spots to plop a deed on anymore?
  42. 1 point
Treasure map clues can be an existing deed. Including yours. People into archaeology will look for clusters of roads on the map dumps to find places that may have had a deed, and have to actually go there to see if the deed is gone and there's archaeology to be done. This includes your deed, though it will be a mild disappointment to find that it's still active. People who like to just explore and see what other people have built will do the same as point 2, but won't be disappointed unless perhaps you built a big wall around everything. You're playing an open world multiplayer game. You may want to look into getting a private Wurm Unlimited server instead.

To quote the article you just linked and pretty much also summarizes why Wurm's current RNG leads to this more often than not. (aka quitting) "The moral here is that reducing the level of reinforcement is not very motivating for players and can act as an impetus for them to quit the game. This must be done carefully and gradually, or there could be an undesirable backlash. Sudden loss of reward is very aversive and should be avoided whenever possible." - Wurm doesn't seem to do "...sudden loss of reward should be avoided whenever possible". It doesn't care if it doesn't reward players. It can "punish" a player by rewarding his effort with nothing. Or can randmly reward a player for his minimal efforts. And RNG Isn't the most rewarding system a game can have fyi. The most rewarding system is a hand crafted one where rewards are carefully balanced. See old school RPG's like Gothic 2, Fallout 1 or 2 (or even New vegas) where rewards were hand crafted so if you entered a "high level area" at a lower level but managed to survived it, you usually got a powerful armor set, a weapon, a scroll or rare potions. You were rewarded for taking risk and using your player skills and RL skills (problem solving). RNG is quite the opposite, the worst "rewarding" system possible since it's actually the easiest and also dehumanized system that can be coded. An algorithm decides if you get lucky or not. Not a game designer. Not a person. There's nothing human in RNG. RNG is the opposite of a meritocratic hand crafted rewarding system. It's also the main mechanic that enforces negative behavior found in gacha games, gambling games, casinos and generally the worst type of predatory behaviour in the world. I'll stop. I am tired of repeating the same argument.

It's been brought to my attention that the person who had previously complained about my showcasing a list of X,Y axis for guard towers, dead deeds, mission structures and colossi, does not have the authority to dictate what can, and can not be posted. So I am reposting what information I have gathered to be added to the map. I've also updated the list to include a JSON coordinate style [####,####] format for the [X,Y] Axis to make things easier on the map-makers. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1A6pEDMfkG9Kdi01Ik1ALwZb6QSwW21Md-N9P2oDayFw/edit#gid=0 - 91 Dead Deeds Needing Removal - 49 Guard Towers - 3 Mission Structures - 11 Colossi - 172 Deeds Confirmed Alive. If a moderator, map-maker or thread owner has an issue with what I've posted, please let me know in game under Viceren, I will make adjustments as requested. I would also suggest that an "Abandoned Deed" and "Colossus" tab be added, specifically to help segregate information better for ease of use. Abandoned deeds could then be retained in a separate form, so people treasure hunting or archaeology''ing can find historical sites easier. I also hereby volunteer to be an associate, cartographer, or helper to the main map maker for Cadence, as I want to see Cadence's map thrive and succeed.

If you were previously using the route finding function, and you now want to switch to a new destination, you have to currently... right click on a waystone wait for the database of deeds to be fetched click on "Clear Route" right click on the waystone wait for the database of deeds to be fetched select the new deed click Send If the "Clear Route" button was available as a context sensitive option on the right-click menu, there would be no need for step 2. This change speeds up cancelling a route whether or not you want to select a new destination.
