One of the most annoying things on Epic atm is the fact that kingdom chat also crosses over to defiance. So for example if Player A asks for help on Serenity to recover his corpse or whatever, he can get a response in kingdom chat "Where's your corpse?" and player A will say "X deed name" which turns out it's actually on Defiance. Why are different kingdoms and servers having the same chat ? Just creates more confusion than anything. Can we please separate the chats? Would it make sense if someone's chat from kingdom chat on Indy crossed over to Release?

So a game mechanic that is being abused for more sleep bonus from rites/rituals is to change religions prior to a rite to obtain sleep bonuses from said religion. This has recently caused an issue during an impalong held at Cadence where due to the amount of favor that has been gained from the priests doing their work allowing for a the rite of spring to be conducted, but because of a loud minority of "religion-switchers", the rite was requested to be held off by the organiser so that this minority could gain from their abuse of a game mechanic. This causes other people who are non-switchers, and are part of the worship of vynoria, not to receive that much needed 5 hour sleep bonus during their time at the impalong, and the organiser being caught in the middle having to make a decision between two groups to appease. I am suggesting that this game mechanic should have heavier penalities, maybe not being allowed to change religions for the next 6 months to a year, or something similar to discourage the abuse of such a mechanic, so that this sort of behaviour can cease to exist, and disrupt others from enjoying the game as it should.

This journal step says you need to foraged for cocoa beans which no longer can be foraged. If you do forage for them you get Cacao beans which do not count for goal. This step is atm impossible to do.

It's not about people from epic not getting along with people from defiance but imagine a new guy showing up on Epic asking for help and people from defiance give confusing answers. Corpse runs, map questions, pointers towards towers, directions to roads, deeds, ruins and someone from an entirely different map and cluster doesn't know if you're even on the same server as him. How is this even a game design thing in 2022? Also the CA help crosses over to Defiance as well. So while it is nice to answer people sometimes in CA, other times you simply can't help if they aren't even on the same map as you. Anyone talking from Defiance in CA can be read by any player on Epic if it's the same kingdom ( e.g. an MR player on Epic can read Defiance MR CA help).

Am I the only one that feels that treasure loot DOESN'T need to be all full of value and can be a little fun with unique things like this?

Back when I started to create Thatcher's Deed on the 5th of February, I had an idea when I saw the pretty scuffed rock layer of the area. "Why don't I create something really silly, something like a massive spike of rock coming out of the land?" I checked the forums, and found out this wasn't an idea unique to me! I decided once I hit the same point as this fine person, I'd make my own thread and do my own updates on the progress of the spike. And today, that point was reached. What you see in this picture is a 402 slope. With 2 PoP accounts, we're getting over a hundred slope per month, and my current idea is to post how it looks every increase of 100, so you can expect a post just over every 3 weeks. This is a pet project I've come to strangely love, so you can expect me to keep going so long as I'm around and it keeps going up. One side is exposed rock, and the others are steppe just to help it stand out against the mountain behind. If, for whatever reason, you want to see it in person, you can simply head over to Thatcher's Deed on Celebration as we're on the Yaga map for the server. It's a lovely coastal area and is (very slowly) being set up as a horse market and general merchants.

If I understand correctly, the idea behind the monthly skin system is that it's supposed to provide a reward that comes naturally by remaining premium. That's why the marks cost is the same as one month's premium time. There are several issues with the way loyalty skins are currently implemented that are causing a negative response with players. It's been coming up a lot lately in different chats, often with fairly strong feelings, especially since the skins started coming out for decorative items. This month's skin was particularly frustrating for me, because I've been hoping so much for a craftable version of the spring flowers we got for Easter last year, and this is why I decided to finally make this post. The main problem with skins is that they are way too restrictive. They cost a full month's worth of marks, are only available for a limited time and then gone forever, they're single use, and can't be removed or transferred to a different item. Everyone wants more decorative items in the game and it's not too often that we do see new things added. It's extremely exciting and always creates lots of enthusiasm among the players when it does happen. Knowing that the dev team is small with limited time and resources, it's painful to think of the time and resources being used to create these gorgeous models every single month... only to have them disappear forever without really being added to the game. It's a huge tease, especially for decorative items like this month's pottery vase. These monthly items are drastically nicer than any equivalent options we have available in game. The only remotely similar item for this month's skin is the flower pot, which doesn't fit the same decorative niche at all. We don't currently have any craftable item to display flowers on a table. Felt similarly with the recent lantern and statuette skins. Most people are going to want more than one of these types of items to decorate with, but at 4500 marks each, month after month, it's just not worth it. A big tease My suggestion: Instead of single use skin tokens, let us purchase the ability to craft the monthly skins. Only the purchasing player can craft it, and the recipe can still be limited to one month in the shop, but once purchased the player can then create as many of the tokens as they like, forever. They can't teach the recipe to others but they can make the skins for them (this also opens up a new market selling skins/skinned items, and more opportunities for players to interact with each other). This way skins are still a premium reward and the items can maintain a sense of "prestige", but the new models could actually be used and fully enjoyed in the game, while also improving the game and increasing player engagement. This would make much better use of the time it took to make the special models, it would make many players a lot happier, add more cool stuff for us to decorate with, and it would make the world that much prettier and more interesting to explore every month. Win win win win Wurmians don't want to just collect and look at pretty things, we want to MAKE them. If the monthly skins were craftable they would add so much more value and engagement, and they really would feel like a genuine reward for sticking around. This is quite similar to archaeology, in the sense that a lot of the "free stuff" turns out not to be much use. Considering the amount of loot that can be generated by these mechanisms, though, I think it would be a mistake to guarantee that every rare item was on a particular list of desirable items, that every tool was made of iron/steel/moonmetal, etc.

Mine is stuck at 75% simply because I can't forage for the last item, since you can't actually get it anymore. You don't get "cocoa beans" from foraging. You get "cacao beans". Different item with different ID. Goal is impossible atm to do.

I've no idea what Yaga maps are. But for treasure maps I use the topo map dump and the community maps equally. The guard towers being seen and the names help. Topo to narrow down the others. I find the map dumps harder to read all the roads imo. The community one is easier to navigate roads. Just my 2 coppers.

The topic is about rarity. The rare useless trash are shiny. Shiny are useful to stimulate. Some people can get satisfaction from stimulation. One of them is to create a shiny museum. So every shiny count. Rare coins from foraging is an example. Rare coins keep the same original value as normal coins. But some people collect them because of their shine. Some people want all those shiny rare as much as possible until they need to see an ophthalmologist. Rare are good for collectors which makes them useful, have purposes and become something. Collector to the rare: Are u my sunshine?β˜€οΈπŸ’– Rare to the Collector: No, u are my sunshine. I am glad u see my beauty.πŸ’˜ 🀭

Anything with "optional" is a good addition, IMO. Obviously someone wants it, else it wouldn't get suggested, and those who don't simply don't use the option. Win /win as far as I am concerned.

We have a new software version for our community map. Please don't forget to clear your browser cache, or the map will not work properly! Make sure that the map shows SW version 2.11 : As requested by many players guard towers have been moved to the "Special" layer. To help you with your treasure hunts they will now be searchable by their names (tower IDs), similar to deeds and mission structures. The search list will now show mission structures first (marked by the letter "M"), followed by guard towers (letter "T"): use the below format for adding Guard Towers. cord, cord Guard Tower "guard tower name and number"

As i have my main travels along the roads on Independence, i ofcourse love the feel of the Albia map. It has some sort of sentimental value with the names on the mountains and lakes, and the almost cartoony feel. And the hours spent into maintaining that map has to be incredible. So credit should be given to the cartographers of the current community map for the hard work they do! Ive also noticed the urge for a map that uses map dumps, have topography options and guard towers with names on them. Well, just to be able to hover over things on a map and make adjustments makes it more interactive. These things seems to be hard to achieve on the current map so an alternative to that, for me, would have to be the Yaga platform. When i travel to other servers its always very easy to navigate through valleys or via lakes. And now with the treasure clues using both topography and guard towers - for me thats a must have right now. TLDR: I would use a Yaga version of Independence and would support the making of one.

It should all be about what the players want. If the majority of players want the unrestrained ability to frequent the various lands of Wurm, they should be able to do that. It's then up to the devs to figure out how to make it happen and it be a fair and workable system. There has been lots of discussion about if it would be good for Wurm and its players and how it could be done, much of which I have also taken part in. Eventually though, I feel like let the devs figure out how to make it all work if the players want it. I don't know how to setup polls like I've seen in other posts in the past, but I bet the majority would vote "yes" to questions like: - Would you like to visit friends and other players despite the cluster they live on? - Would you like to go and see the land and development and explore the lands of Wurm unrestricted by cluster? - Would you like to be able to take part in events such as slayings, impalongs, and other community gatherings unrestricted by cluster? - Would you like to be able to conduct trade with players unrestricted by the cluster they live on? - Would you like to be able to help the player needing something that you can specifically aid with despite the cluster they live on? So, despite concern for semantics on economy and how it would work and if it would be healthy, if most people answer "yes" to questions like those above, then the devs should make it happen and then go on to handle the how-to part of it all. Also, would it really be unhealthy for the game to drop the invisible barrier between NFI and SFI if the majority of players answered yes to the above?

πŸ˜† I mean, you're arguing segregation. It's what came to mind.
  45. 1 point
No offense but that sounds like an argument you would have heard in the early 1900s to continue segregating people and communities IRL. Do we not all agree that segregation is bad? Wurm is not going to suddenly die if there's a merge of which a real eventuality was proposed by staff back when NFI/Steam became a thing.

(and so are other servers!) If you enjoy exploring PM me! If you want to help map Wurm this is the perfect chance for you. Yes, we know there are already maps that are going around, but is that any fun for those of us who love exploring? This is a chance for us to maintain a map that is local to us. I'm mostly east Inde! All you have to do is get an account registered over on WurmNode which is just a couple of steps then get verified by another member. Mapping is 100% safe and nothing to worry about, we never have resistance from local residents. Sign up now and join me around the campfire watching a sunset after a day of mapping!

Well, since this thread has been resurrected (and perhaps for a good reason - this is part of Deliverance lore now), let me add my own small story. It's nothing compared to the Great Loom Push - far from it - but I too have been part of the Push Culture (tm), so I feel somewhat legit. When I was still a noob, some 3 centuries ago, I moved into a decaying shack near the first friend I made in Wurm - Delone. There, I worked on my skills and prepared myself for exploring Celebration to find a place for a deed of my own. This phase of my life took approximately two months, during which I made a number of objects for the new deed. One of them... was a rowing boat. With my barely existent shipbuilding skills, I slaved on the boat on and off for about a week. I made it next to my shack, which was far away from any water. My reasoning was - and you have to remember I was a noob - that I would finish the boat and then pick it up and walk it to the sea shore. After all, the rowing boat was not much bigger than a canoe and I certainly lifted those in real life. So, the vessel was finished and its was made of cedar. I think you can guess the rest. The rowing boat was too heavy to lift. So, here I was, a dude with a boat in the middle of a forest. I felt like part of the Fellini poster "E la nave va" (look it up!). Luckily for me, my friend Delone came to help. And the distance to water was nowhere near as monumental as the distance the loom had to travel in the original story on this thread. We pushed and pushed, during which time my noob mind was completely convinced that the boat would probably sink the moment it hits water. But it floated! And in the next week I travelled all over Celebration in it and found a perfect location for my new home - The Garden of Fo. I am still in that home and the boat is still with me. The moral of the story? Well, back then it was "build sea vessels next to the shore, you dolt". But now, it's "make sure you know someone with a ship transporter!"
