Many of you will be aware of this little nugget when changing titles What you might not know if the functions of this. Pulled from WU code: Titles.Title title = performer.getTitle(); if (title != null && title.getSkillId() == improve.getNumber() && (target.isArmour() || target.isCreatureWearableOnly())) mod *= 1.2999999523162842D; This means that if you're wearing an appropriate title for the armour you're increasing, you improve the item 30% faster! A real must-have for leatherworkers, cloth tailors, chain armour smiths and plate smiths everywhere! But wait, what's this? target.isCreatureWearableOnly()? What fits into that? Oh, right, bardings. And... saddles? And horseshoes? My, we've given Blacksmithing and Jewellery Smithing titles an unexpected benefit! 30% faster horseshoe imping! Wouldn't it be delightful if we took this further? I'm looking at you, 100 skill titles! The bonuses don't have to be good (in fact I feel it'd be best if none were as close to as strong as 30% faster imping. Maybe let 100 mind logic actually have the extra action?) They don't even have to make sense (I keep thinking +1% base crit rate for weaponsmithing 100) They'd just make a nice little something, because aside from the title the main use of the massive climb to 100 skill is bragging rights.

Currently, many players have several sorcery items (resistances and weakness), food affinities, armor penalties, caffeine, and meditation buffs, all listed in the status effects. This makes it frustratingly large, cumbersome, and hard to notice when something is nearly expired. My suggestion (mockup): We should consolidate similar effects together into a single icon (and have the timer show for the one that will fall off soonest). This would cut down the icons from Timed affinities, Weaknesses, and Resistances, down into 3 icons, rather than having one for each sorcery item and food.

Oh, I definitely like the treasure maps, but I don't believe that "another reason to go out exploring" is necessarily true. You can't find treasure by exploring, or maps. You get maps from non-exploring stuff and you follow directions/hints/clues to go get the treasure. I think "leaving the deed" is a bit conflated with exploring. We exploring types will still explore, and likely use treasure maps as an excuse/method to explore particular areas. Those who aren't currently inclined to explore will probably treat this in a vaguely grindy way (not a criticism, just an opinion). I think part of the problem is that "exploration" is itself a very nebulous concept in Wurm. I love exploring, but found I really don't like archeology much because to me it seems to be just grinding while outdoors.

Hello everyone! I have a significant announcement regarding the update. We are splitting the Exploration update into two updates to get everything done. These updates will be related, with the second one building on the first, but this way, we can give you all a reward for your patience and take the time needed to make something that we can all be proud of. The first update will be setting the stage by bringing a journal rework and a feature that I know many have mentioned previously: Treasure Hunts. The update will also include a new board game and some changes that help set things up for the second update. This first update is tentative for the end of April or early May, depending on how development goes. The Journal Rework With this update, the journal rework will change the Journal system based on existing plans and player feedback. First, we will be introducing several new journal tiers geared toward new players, each themed around specific skills or groups of skills. These will come with their own title and sleep bonus rewards and should introduce newer players to various tasks that can be accomplished with those skills. We also know some players have felt a bit constrained by the existing journal tiers, feeling pressed into completing goals related to types of gameplay they aren't personally interested in. In response, we will also be making changes to existing tiers to provide more flexibility to players and account for more varied play styles. Most importantly, journal tiers will no longer require every goal within the tier to complete that tier and receive any related rewards. For all existing journal tiers and the new tiers coming with this update, one goal of your choice may be skipped entirely, and the tier can still be completed. An additional goal of appropriate difficulty has also been added to each tier that existed before this update. These alternative goals can also be completed by priests and can be completed on any server. Note: We have already had some feedback pertaining to the Journal Rework from our team. We are looking to implement a "Claim" button so that you can choose when to claim your rewards. We are also open to reviewing current goals, though there may be difficulty in transferring completion between new and old goals. Treasure Hunting When getting a rarity roll on actions like mining, fishing, and digging, you will have a chance at uncovering a lost map or clue to lead you to the location of a lost treasure. These clues come in several difficulties and types, each less common and more challenging than the last. The clues will include maps to nearby or farther away locations, hot and cold clues where you are told if you are getting closer or not since your last time checking, challenging clues leading you to a specific task, etc. The map clues are items that will visually lead you to a location and will come in varying quality levels, whereas the more challenging older maps may be missing sections or have been smudged or distorted by the hands of time. More difficult clues can have more than 1 step and may have creatures guarding the locations ready to pounce on anyone who dares to claim the rewards. Some rewards will be given at the end in a chest of treasure that can contain some new cosmetic items, rare metals like seryll, glimmersteel, or adamantine, and other valuable items. And Beyond The second update will include some more ambitious goals, including goblin camps, religious sites, and another feature that I’d like to tease later. The release date for this update will be determined by how the launch of the first update goes, as the priority will be on fixing any issues that arise. Finally, I’d like to talk about our development cycle and the rest of the year. While having extensive updates is lovely, I plan to return to a time when we had more minor updates more frequently, with more comprehensive features coming once or twice a year. This way, we can keep some developers on quality of life improvements and bug fixes, and some developers pushing forward on new features. The lack of context-switching will help speed up development, and the more frequent updates will keep Wurm fresh and healthy. As I suspect Exploration will push into late spring or early summer for the second update, the rest of the year will be dedicated to the things I mentioned previously. This includes PvP (Epic, Chaos, and Defiance), new decorative options, and reviewing specific skills for improvements. Those skills will likely have meditation and another look at animal husbandry. This will also include the aforementioned bug fixing and quality of life improvements, which will become more frequent. I hope this post helps shed some light on what is coming in the future, and as always, please let us know what you think! Happy Wurming!

WTA Rare Slate Forge [20:07:11] A forge made from stone bricks and clay, intended for smelting and smithing. This is a very rare and interesting version of the item. The forge has some irregularities that must be removed with a stone chisel. Ql: 90.0033, Dam: 0.0. You can easily make out the signature of its maker, 'Kameojo'. The fire is not lit. I'd disagree with this part of your suggestion, as single players tend to truly explore alot more than organized groups, and a map leading to a buffed-up troll champion in a camp full of champion trolls would be inaccessible to fight for most players as individuals. Let's actually encourage players venturing out alone to look for special places, not turn it into another big team unique kill event.

We have items that have more then one compartment and some fill special items only. So what i suggest are that we get a slot/compartment where you can place a lantern or what would be even better a special wagon lantern. Not only would that promote people to buy/make the item but in the end we would get a wagon that are more easily found/seen in say mines. One could also make it so a lantern just dropped in the inventory of the wagon/cart will have the same effect as if a player would wear a lantern in inventory. But i would like to see a special lantern that are specific for wagons and it should hold more fuel.

The glow runes and color runes seem to not apply their effects properly when attached to Statues, Epic Mission Structures, and Guard Towers. I plan on adding specific examples this evening when I can get on the game. Kind of a bummer considering how difficult it is to acquire, manufacture, and apply the runes. Edit: Failed to mention that these effects used to work, but somewhere they stopped.

Xanadu events are always the adventure. Set sail with my priest an hour ahead of time and got there just in time to summon my other four toons logged in on 4 different computers to prevent creating a black hole. Got my main in position at the last second to take a few swings at the dragon. So far so good. Now to take the long journey back and try to find my second boat which I had to abandon at the border at open sea. After 3 hours of sweeping the northern shores I gave up and went to bed. Spent another hour looking for it today and finally found it 50 tiles further than I thought it would be. Xanadu is unforgiving. In the end, happy to have participated and glad to have helped the sermons. Great memories. Cya next time!

My only request is that any exploration feature takes into account how big Xanadu is. Any "search nine map squares" treasure hunt ain't going to get done.

I really could use somewhere to store all my large barrels (full and empty), it's getting difficult to reach the door, not to mention a health and safety issue, I am sure some experts would call it 'hoarding' and have some kind of therapy in mind. So how about some of these racks? I could start being proud of my workshop again! Post your 'hoarding' pictures below! If enough of us have a problem with hoarding maybe they will move the thread to a part of the forum where we can get help!

Now that we're a year on from the chaos of the Steam launch and lots of people have settled into their long-term spots, I thought it might be nice to have an introductions thread. Feel free to say hello, what your name is, if you've played before, where you live, etc. I'll go first. 🙂 On Harmony, I go by Rosalie (Fo Priest) and Teaghan (Builder/Crafter). I first co-founded a deed called Harmony Cove at launch, but recently started a new deed called Tanglewood at Q-10. I've been playing Wurm Online (badly) since Spring of 2011, first on Independence, then Exodus and Xanadu, all as the character Moxie. I say I play badly because I'm terrible at grinding skills. I just play naturally and make things pretty and go exploring, for the most part. Love this game for all the different ways you can play. Your turn! 😄

I guess it depends what you mean by exploring. If you're thinking of aimless wandering just to see what can be seen, I'm not sure any game mechanic would encourage people to do that if they aren't already inclined to. That seems like a personality thing. When I leave the deed for whatever reason I usually do some kind of exploring along the way. I do enjoy aimless wandering just to see what there is to see, but I don't often go out without some other reason first. The map would act as a nudge to get off the deed and some exploration would be a likely "side effect" of the treasure hunt. Of course some people will have tunnel vision and just go straight to the treasure and home again, but they will still end up visiting different parts of the world on the way and for some that counts as exploration.

Just a small thing that would be really conveniant when we have a lot of windows/containers open at the same time. Add the option "add to crafting menu" for items. Some, like mallets, don't have it and we need to open the crafting menu and drag the tool there instead. This could be very neatly done as symbol in the right click menu next to the other symbols like examine and emotes.

well seeing the sheild also is responsible for deflection as well as taking damage i think they are fine taking more damage than other items, besides it gives sheild smiths more work for improving broken sheilds back to their full glory

I don't have many icons yet, but I can see from @Shydow's screenshot, that they can easily start to clutter up the screen and become a problem for players with a lot of effects, tomes and timed affinities. I think that a lot of time and effort from the Art Department went into these icons, and so perhaps even subconsciously the devs feel that they should get usage out of it - not as simple as just getting their money's worth, but rather seeing the time well spent you could say. I liked the idea @Finnnhad for an 'album' of icons/stamps that we can collect. At first I thought it was just humour, but it makes more sense the more I think about it. We could drag the icons in and out of our mini icon portfolio - if and when we want to see them on the screen. I would really enjoy the process of collecting these varied, colourful (and often quite beautiful) little pictures, and it could be an engaging pastime as well as building a useful collection.

+1 to a merge. It is definitely time. I would alternatively settle for an option to transfer my character from SFI to NFI with the equipment he has equipped. As someone stated, it’s not like the folks who started on SFI haven’t worked hard for it - I spent 7 years on that character. I would even pay for the privilege. I mostly support a full merger because of the exploration and bonding of the communities. To me that would be ideal. Will there be some negative impact? Of course there will be and there will be some unhappy people, but I suspect that as some have indicated it’s mostly folks who play the marketplace game. I’m not going to say that I can’t appreciate their concerns, because I do and that’s only fair. However I think the majority would favor a merger or at least be able to live with it because of their love for the game. It’s occurred on several occasions before and it could work here too. But let’s be clear, I chose to take the dive and jump in to the southern freedom isles cluster. No one made me do it. I did it because it’s just exciting exploring new lands and knowing that there are going to be hundreds of people in the community. However as I feared might happen, i’ve just become tired of choosing which characters to focus on. It makes me sad to log into Independence and genuinely love the server and those toons here, but would love to have more population. At this point population is the only reason I play on the southern isles. It’s not about money it’s about the community. I don’t want to have to choose which character to focus my time on. We’ve all made huge investments here and I respect that, so why not put in a solution that works for most people? You’re never gonna make everyone happy. Put up a poll and let’s vote on it and maybe give folks a couple different options. I’m all for supporting the developers and the continuation of the game from a financial perspective. So if we need to put something in that requires an investment financially in order to get the option to move characters over, sign me up. At least give us the option. There are plenty of high skilled characters on the northern islands at this point. One thing is for sure, I can’t continue to bounce back-and-forth between the two clusters. I simply don’t have the time/interest to maintain both. So I’m gonna have to make a choice unless an option come soon.

Starting next Saturday at 2pm GMT, I am leading an expedition around the islands. We'll be a party of adventurers entirely made up of new characters made on the day, and of course you are welcome to create an alt to join in. We will be moving camp for 2 hours every other Saturday at the same time and we'll see how far we can get before 4pm GMT. Each time we move camp, a different person will decide where we go next. Let me know in the expeditions channel on discord if we should expect you to join. Please be there early if possible. And please be warned: we will probably be making do without clay for a long while. The expedition will go on as long as there are people who want to move camp. Once there are no longer people who want to move camp again, I'll probably start a new expedition. The next expedition would be at a different time to cater to a different group of people. But we'll only have one expedition going at a time to consolidate players as much as possible.

I believe they are talking about how I have had servers before the original Stormfall. But yes, surprise, hardly used servers eventually go down. There's plenty of good servers and not many players to go around so my options are: Pay for a mostly dead server indefinitely (in the last case, 6 servers) Give up Try to make something with a better unique selling point than the last time When I started out hosting, I did idealise [1], but I eventually concluded it wasn't benefitting anyone. I believe all my previous servers made me a better creator and a better host. Look at the first Stormfall: a concept that complex and involved and yet coherent could not have come from someone's first attempt at hosting. Yes, I have failed many times, but it seems clear to me that those failures have taken us to more worthwhile places.

As a NFI player this is a terrible idea, I'd hate a merge. Majority of my friends don't want to see a merge either. Keep them seperate. The 3 PVE servers we have on NFI are popular you add on SFI and everyone will spread out and we'll have 3 more dead servers. The economy will be ruined, market flooded. People with items on SFI that are not available on NFI (like PMK wagons/items) just want this merge so they can get rich. Then you have the fact that the merge also affects Defiance/Chaos. Nobody here is considering what this will do to the balance on the PVP servers. NFI is great because everyone's characters are their own since it was made after RMT. It's great because there isn't a flood of broken legacy items like Bag of Keeping or Summer Hats. New players have a chance of making money for their premium because there isn't players out there who have giant supplies of everything probably looted from fallen deeds ten years ago. I cannot see how this merge would attract any new players... only lose a lot.

let the wagoner control specific boat and pay some price to use it while it's between x and y condition(ql/damage), cause z damage per trip or 2... or w/e.. you keep the need of boats and maintenance, tie boat speed to it's ql.. with or w/o a boost or debuff for sending it as 'drone' with "AI" controlling courier or w/e sense tied to it.. there's plenty of mumbo-jumbo lore to explain how it all works and fits in the world as it is end result is .. either boat appears from A to B after some time.. or it actually moves and you can see it like the wagoner system movement while it delivers..

If going to have cross server wagoner, then should have to build a port where the wagoner would bring your stuff to, load up your stuff in a Caravel and that would travel across server to another port where it would continue it's wagon trails.

Haloo! I am Siina in-game and originally started the Steam release on Cadence. I played there, founding Cutienautica and then later Maplenut Grove, before going on a hiatus. Now that I am back, a friend shipped me to Harmony, where I spent a few days with @LynDand the others are Oak Hill. Now I've got my own deed, Rosewood Forest, near them -- it is an entire neighbourhood of amazing people. Originally I started on Independence some 12-14 years ago, but after a few years life got in the way, and I didn't come back until the Steam release. A friend asked if I'd heard of the game, and the rest is history. I love building and farming, and right now Rosewood Forest is shaping up to be a cosy little place.

Hi Everyone, On Harmony I go by Lyndee, and my alt is Preema (though she rarely wakes up). I have alts on Serenity (Lynd and Sylveen) actively. Inactive alts at the moment are on Indy, Xanadu, and I have a semi active alt on Exodus as well. I have been playing Wurm now for about 5 years, and I am simply addicted to it! LOL I started Oak Hill Ranch on Harmony within the first week of the server opening and I still love that piece of Wurm as much today as I did the day I found it. Mostly I work my time on Oak Hill as a large scale breeder - breeding everything non agro imaginable, but I have skilled up in many other areas as I build, clear and terraform for the deed. I have a more than a few active mates on the deed, and it is constantly growing and changing. I always look forward to meeting players old and new, if your passing through Oak Hill watch local, if I or my mates are on you will usually get a Hello from one of us. So any and all of you are welcome to drop by anytime!

Hello all! Ssmokes here I've been playing since 2012 I believe, while taking breaks on and off. I started on Pristine (smokes on SFI, character was sold, god bless RMT), then moved to Xanadu, took a break for a few years and came back from the steam launch. At launch, it was pretty difficult to find a shore area, and ended up finding my piece of heaven on the north shore of Harmony, D18. I'm a semi-hardcore skiller. I love grinding skills! When i'm not skilling i take on larger building projects. Want to know more? ask! ~Ssmokes

Lovely thread idea! My name's Lexington, going by Brython in-game and on here. I mainly do fine carpentry, dyes, and various cooking jobs. I helped start Bay of Twelve (E15) this November, moving to form Saint Brighid (D14) in early-mid December. This is my first server and have only been playing since November, and my main goal is to similarly play naturally and form lots of friendships, while making a lovely eden for myself and my friends.
