    Summary of events post: Currently collecting named leftovers to mail home, expect all leftovers within 24h. All named items have been collected from the Great Hall and Inn and mailed home! Hello hello and welcome again to the 5th (4th) (3rd) (2nd) (1st) annual Friend-A-Long! This event is brought to you by Dragon Beard Markets, the Elysian Academy Alliance of Pristine, and random donors like you! This years event will be held July 20th to the 25th, same date/time/location as last year! Some of you are new to wurm this year and might be asking what is an "Imp-along" as there generally called? Well basically is a community event where everyone gets together to improve and cast for each other for free! Its basically a week long party, packed with all sorts of fun, games, booze, food, death, death, death, and other random events, Anyone can come, anyone can help imp. Often people just come to grind there skill for free. You don't have to be able to get to maximum quality imp, just do what you can and someone else will finish up the work! The only real restrictions is on channeling skill to help prevent shattered items. Please if you want to contribute please make a post including the skills that your want to work with so we can get a generally idea of skill coverage. All Rooms are filled! The Arena will be wild and infested with all sorts of baddies, its important to give the GM's there chance to kill you, lets face it, you probably hassled one at some point this year, and they have a year of frustration to vent! So be sure to partake of the arena! As I always say, If you didn't die at the imp-along you did it wrong! Keep an eye on this thread for updates and prob some secrets hidden within you might want to note for the event.... Might be worth something When: July 20th - 25th 2022. You can also plot to Dragon Beard from any highway, then just follow the highway west a few hundred tiles to the deed. Discord Link: Read the rules, use the reaction role to get the Wurm Online role. This year well be attempting to add some more integration between discord and the event. With trivia related to previous events, interactive Friendalong radio, sermon channel, and some other misc things, im open to idea's for further integration with the event. Deed roles, rights, and allowing villagers. Please treat the entire area as "off deed." Keep that in mind when leaving stuff outside a building. Lead, Take, Drop, Butcher, and Bury will all be enabled deed wide for everyone at the opening of the event. In addition If you would like to take advantage of some pumped up deed bonus's we will be accepting players to join the village again this year, this can also double as a local spawn point if you forget your tent. Loading and Unloading: If you wish to unload something like a creature cage or donations, you will only be able to unload on the west side of the deed, id recommend just behind the Arena, the last row there is offdeed, and will not trouble you for loading/unloading. New things this year: Guest Book: Were adding a guest book this year, it is available in the ground floor of the inn. There will be pens pre-filled with real ink and high q paper for everyone to write a brief story or experience for the book in the ground floor of the Inn, just take a pen from the cart, a paper from the crate, and drop your story in the Large Magic Chest. These stories/memories will be digitized and added to the thread after the event. Turns out this doubles as the "write on paper with ink" journal goal! Please don't take more pens then you need, ink is not infinite and the squids can sense me coming now.... HFC Grinding: Still kind of working out the details to this one, ideally were gonna use the resources from the arena and junk q veggies to offer limited SELF SERVICE pan filling, resources provided, after we flesh out the details on it this year we will likey optimize it a bit more and then add various cages to grind taming on with the stuff produced from HFC cooks. Currently it will be limited to 2x three forge stations with 300 pans for each batch. Only one batch at a time, pan filling is SELF SERVICE, and you are expected to remove your meals when your done and sacrifice/dispose of them. There is currently no signup list etc, so feel free to do another run if no one is waiting for a station. Eatery / Food: The Main food/refreshment area has moved to a more role play friendly area, in the SW corner of the Arena's ground floor.     ==NOTICE - This has now been fixed in the update on 16 August 2022== ==THANKS=FOR=LISTENING=DEVS!== [Please Close] Numbers stopped going up. Yes indeed. Unfortunately, because of the way the foraging skill is stored in Wurm, and used in the harvesting function, even though my skill is 100, I am not getting any 100ql items. Techie stuff: So that's it basically, no 100ql pumpkins for me 😢 But the implications are greater still, because this function also applies to botanists, and *I believe* gardeners, so that currently it is IMPOSSIBLE to obtain 100ql woad in this game, either by botanizing or by harvesting planters, regardless of skill! For the dye makers this is a huge disappointment. Something which, I feel, needs to be looked at again. Please change the harvesting formula to use the players skill exactly (or just add 1 to the value!) before (or after) calculating the gathered items' ql. Thank you team.

    Hello, fren! We have just finished setting up a temporary market at an upcoming goblin leader slaying. We have hid about 200 Iron coins around the market, certain coins are winners good for a corresponding prize. Come visit the market, set down a merchant or shop around the merchants already here....and then go look for coins! If you find a coin you can let me know where you found it, and what it says as soon as you find it and if its one of the winning coins you could receive one of the following items: A personal Merchant contract (8s value, 1 available) A sleep Powder (1.5-2s Value, 4 available) A plague mask (1 Available) A witches hat (3 available) 1 silver coin (2 Available) A mystery rare item (3 available they are actual crafted rares, not materials) The game will be open and active until every prize is claimed. We STRONGLY encourage other people to hide even MORE iron coins around the deed in order to make the game even more difficult for others. We are able to summon (Just PM Castael in game) and the market is on the highway system "Goblin Leader Job Fair" We will also have a bunch of forges out and several valrei items sacced to increase the rarity window on the market deed in case anyone felt like making this a mini impalong type of experience.     It's not time. I don't feel it will ever be time, in the near future at least. The majority of NFI agrees as well, and I feel like our voices are the ones that matter, not anyone on SFI. If you really wanted to play with friends, just do what we all had to do: Create a new account EDIT: This was an arrogant thing to say, and I apologize. Everyone does have an equal voice, that's only fair. We all have some very strong opinions on this (including me!) I was too hasty and didn't formulate something more eloquent to say, I'm afraid.

    Some backstory: Southern Freedom Islands, formerly Freedom servers cluster 1, 2, 3 The original Freedom server was Independence (Founded June 17th 2009). The second one was Deliverance (Founded September 7th 2011), which is situated to the south of Independence. This was followed by Exodus (Founded September 15th 2011), to the south of Deliverance. The old Wild server became the fourth server to join Freedom. It is now known as the Chaos server (Founded May 5th 2007) and can be accessed by sailing across the west border of any of the three servers above. However, sailing back east across the border from Chaos will only take you to Deliverance. Later, Celebration (Founded May 31st 2012) was added to the south of Exodus. All of the freedom clusters were connected when Xanadu (Founded June 3rd 2014) was opened to the east of this cluster. Freedom servers cluster 2 This was a new cluster starting with Pristine (Founded Dec 12th 2012) at the official release of Wurm Online 1.0 which wasn't connected to freedom cluster 1 for one and a half years in order to provide that total newbie feeling. The second server in this cluster was Release (Founded Dec 18th 2012), which is situated to the southern border of Pristine. Sailing west from either of these servers leads you to Xanadu. Freedom servers cluster 3 The new Freedom server of Xanadu (Founded June 3rd 2014) was isolated from the other servers for a few weeks. After that, it was connected to freedom cluster 1 to the west and freedom cluster 2 to the east. Sailing west from Xanadu leads you to Deliverance and sailing east from Xanadu leads you to Release Chaos server The Chaos (Founded May 5th 2007) server is a PvP enabled Freedom cluster server. It can be access by sailing west from Independence, Deliverance, or Exodus.Sailing back east to Deliverance will put you back in the Freedom Isles kingdom, while returning to Chaos will put you back to whatever kingdom you were in when you left. Epic Islands The Epic islands are made up of 4 different islands, arranged in a T-shaped pattern. These are all PVP servers.The Epic cluster is affected by The Curve, a skill gain formula that can allow new players to catch up to older players. Northern Freedom Isles The Northern Freedom Isles are the newest servers, consisting of three PVE servers (Harmony Founded July 24th 2020, Melody Founded July 26th 2020, and Cadence Founded August 21st 2020) and one PVP server (Defiance Founded July 24th 2020 ). These servers are currently cut off from all other servers in Wurm to allow for new players to grow and skill together. Normal Freedom/PVE rules apply on the PVE servers, but Defiance has its own PVP rule set.     Currently there is a huge unbalance between weapons making only one of them viable - the Sickle. Smack an ACID potion on it and you are even stronger. Below are some charts from test server of two identical accounts fighting showing the base damage of the weapons. Test was conducting using 90ql gear 70 body stats and 90 skill toons. No Damage Jewelry, No priest bonus, No damage bonus artifacts were used in this testing. Large axe was disregarded for obvious reasons, anyone even using it is as someone told me recently "stuck in 2012 and bad at the game" The base damages speak for themselves a 10k BT Acid salve Sickle does significantly more damage, more constantly, and the swing timer is faster then the other weapons meaning the DPS is much higher. It would be nice to have other weapons semi viable even if they arent the best for some scenarios. However currently sickle wins by miles in any scenario possible. Below is the armour chart since the above table was tested vs scale : For this, strong/weak is considered to the average of that armour, for example all of plates evaluated percentages average to 81.7%, if it's 15% or more away from median it's considered weak/strong, <79% for weak and >84.5% for strong for plate for example. Average falls anywhere between these two values. Crush strong against Plate/Scale, Weak against Drake/Studded/Leather. 2 strong 3 weak 1 average Pierce strong against Leather/Chain/Drake, Weak against Plate/Scale, 3 strong 2 weak 1 average Slash strong against Studded/Drake, Weak against Leather/Chain/Scale, 2 strong 3 weak 1 average Burn (no way of doing weapon burn damage as flame salve is not enabled and FA doesn't check for armour dr a second time) Strong against Leather/Studded/Plate/Drake, Weak against Chain/Scale, 4 strong 2 weak Cold salve strong against Chain\Scale, Weak against Leather\Studded\Drake, 2 strong 3 weak 1 average Acid salve strong against Leather\Chain\Scale, not weak against anything, 3 Strong 3 average Cloth is ignored as it's irrelevant for pvp, plates realistically only in the calculation as people use plate helms regardless of armour set, web or hurting in plate puts you at <3km/h so it's barely relevant. Bite is also ignored as players cannot bite. Unless your weapon is being used in niche scenarios (such as slashing vs studded) an acid imbue will beat out any weapon type due to it not having any weaknesses. It also heavily favours path of power as a champion choice, as having power toons in fights will force the enemy to either use unsalved weapons (with sickles being op, if your enemy is forced to use unsalved sickles, it's essensialy the difference between leather and drake for everyone in the kingdom) or carry extra weapons to deal with them (and from my experience as PoP even non-champ, most people don't do this) which ends up just making regearing after fights even more costly due to extra MM weapon requirements. Even if you're using something that slash is weak against, the raw damage the sickle does due to being equal in dps with a huge axe/staff as a 1h ends up still being stronger than other weapons due to raw damage, and higher swing speed weapons are a massive dps loss from slightly hidden mechanics, such as parry difficulty being based off time since the last one, aggressive damage bonus going off more reliably on fast swinging weapons, stamina usage from swinging is based on weapon weight whereas blocking isn't so slow/heavy weapon users will run out of stamina in fights faster, weapon swings getting interrupted by stuns/bashes/taunts/walking out of range, and all forms of healing being much less effective against lots of small hits. Even the artifact weapons aren't worth using over any normal weapons due to how bad the swing timer effects dps.

    Nope! I don't ever want them merged. From what I've seen of the NFI players since the steam launch, they're not generally the type of people I want crawling all over SFI. If they want to come here so bad, let them make a new toon and spawn here. I'm far enough away from a starter town that hopefully they learn some manners before they show up in my peaceful, tranquil spot.

    Do they now? The majority on either cluster doesn't bother to even voice their opinion, that's how it is in any game, that's where "silent majority" and "vocal minority" come from. Let the devs run an in game poll first before you make baseless claims such as these.

    There is precedent you know? An official poll was held asking player opinion on the matter for the Release/Pristine merge. Of course, this was also back when wurm's population was much much higher, and the results were less liable to be skewed by a vocal minority on the forums.

    At the bare minimum have a vote on NFI alone (if you want), like it was done on Pristine/Release back when they were a separate cluster. My gut is telling me that the vast majority of players would enjoy and benefit a merge (more places to explore, more people to know, more events to partake to, generally more options for anything, plus cheaper prices and wider access for most items). The only people who would not benefit from it would be the very few uber traders that monopolized the market on NFI and are selling their wares at inflated prices compared with SFI. The problem is that they're usually also the most active players on the forums, so they sound like they're a majority, when, instead, they're just a vocal minority. Have a vote and see for real what the (silent) majority of players wishes.

    -1 I tend to like it just fine being only NFI, had I wanted to play on SFI I would have created my account on SFI. A merger will not create any new player accounts ( maybe more alts...like many of ya need that.. ) and perhaps only stand to lose players that are against this.

    I already made a new account, Im Dessie on NFI and I played on NFI from start and on SFI since 2008 Would be really fun to know how many of us on NFI is really SFI players and how many on NFI that is really new players But guess those that know dont want us to know

    So insulting me by calling me names and telling me I'm not relevant (despite being one of the largest tool merchants on NFI) isn't rude? If you don't think that's rude then you can stay isolated in SFI forever for all I care. I would not want you a part of my cluster.

    This is sounding pretty arrogant, i feel like most people in general that are in for this kind of connection is for the sake of freedom of play where they want and not for the sake to interact with you or any other special snowflakes that like to over estimate their relevance, in specific. Of course voice of players on SFI matters as well and will be considered before any connection is made, i am sure.

    Make it Possible to Auto-travel by way of the highway system. Basically Idea is for a player to be able to pay a minimal fee to travel on the highway system from Point A to Point B. The Traveling can be done by 1. Hitching a ride with a Wagoneer. Great for new players or player who may have died without a spawn location and had to respawn at a beginner deed. 2. Using your own Mount/Cart/ Wagon to Travel. Could Help with the dilemma of going to Events such as impalongs/ Holiday events or Slayings without a mount. This will help with the issue of people wanting to attend but not wanting to leave their mount/cart/wagon behind to be summoned. For Using your own Mount/ Cart /Wagon if more than 1 person is in vehicle then I'd suggest a Discount say a Large cart with 2 people going to say destination would 1.5c/1000pcs but would still have to be paid for by the commander of the vehicle. My suggestion would 1 copper per 1000 tiles of Travel with a minimum of 1 copper fee. But this fee will include Auto-travel to destination chose on the highway system. If you "disembark auto-travel" you still pay the fee. Auto-travel includes No attacks by aggressive creatures. On Pvp Servers it doesn't include no attacks from other players but would include no attacks from aggressive creatures not controlled by players. Player may Disembark auto-travel at any given time but in order to re-embark auto travel they must travel to the next waypoint and Pay for travel to their new destination. I also suggest that auto-travel speeds up travel on highway system by atleast 25% with Options to Pay a Larger travel Fee to make the Travel Faster. Like For Slayings, Events / Impalong traveling........ If its the wagoneer it can still take multiple passengers... who are going to same destination * Fees / Tiles /% are just a suggestion but was trying to keep things affordable for even the newest of players. The Fees/ Tiles Ratio may need to be Adjusted for Different Servers.. I was using Celebration as an idea when I did this and came up with an ideal fee.. But for Larger Servers like Indepence or Xanadu the it may need to be 2000+ /1copper
