Tower Chaining in PvP It has come to our attention that there exists the ability for someone to use an alternate account to found a deed as part of another kingdom, and then convert that deed to their own kingdom, effectively bypassing Tower Chaining mechanics. The existing mechanics for Tower Chaining require an influence connection back to the capital deed or starter deed in order to found a new deed for a kingdom. Circumventing this mechanic is a clear exploit, and while we are working on a fix for this, those caught circumventing this will be/have been penalized in addition to the forced disbanding of the deed(s) in question. Thank You, Wurm Online Team

Hello Harmony, It looks like Rite of Spring is up for casting. [12:46:27] <Jaeza> [17:44:50] You sense that Vynora is brimming with power. Maybe you can channel it somehow? Ah, so the issue is wanting "speculation" to be no risk. Well, it aint. These were meant to be rewards for spending money on the game, not just another profiteering opportunity for those who think you can win Wurm. If someone spent a lot of money to get a lot extra skins, then what they have is exactly what they can expect to have. I have sold skins in-game, and I have always formulated the price to be the actual silver-equivalent cost to me (or lower in some cases). I don't really have a problem with people trying to cash in a bit when the opportunity is there, but they have absolutely no right to expect that opportunity to be protected for them. There was never any claim made when offering these that they were intended to be exclusive in any way other than "exclusively available to everybody who buys them".

I bet old loyalty skins would bring more money to the game in long term, than VR that gonna make one-time money grab from people that come to try it and then left dissapointed...

You gotta love how we're simulating the scalping ( nods at PS5 debacle) business in Wurm. But then again "some" companies have their entire business model built on this petty ######.

Unfortunately not. The friends list is saved to each individual player. The player "Sindusk" would have friend A, B, and C attached. If I go to another server, the friends list comes with that data. When the friends list gets updated (such as a new removal or addition), the server where the request came from would find what server I'm located on (via the login server, which tracks every player's current server), then send the relevant command to update the friends list for me. Alliances and villages are not so simple. Each alliance is heavily server-bound. Just because you're in an alliance on one server, doesn't mean you're in that same alliance on another. This means if an alliance changes while you are off-server, you have no information about what actually happened there. You can be kicked from an alliance while off-server, and you wouldn't know about it until after you return. You don't get a message saying "X alliance has removed your deed on Y server" or any indication whatsoever. It's only when you return to the server that contains that alliance that those messages are sent and everything syncs back up. In order to manage cross-server alliances or villages would require a fundamental rework of how that data is stored and managed. You cannot attach alliances to a single player, since it is used by more than one. In order to do it properly, you would need to synchronize the data across all servers. If you are in an alliance on one server, and that alliance kicks a deed, then you would need to synchronize that change to every server and have them run relevant checks to ensure all the proper players have their clients aware of the change. This means that, as Archaed said, servers would "need to know it all, and that's a recipe for an absolute disaster." This is very accurate, since every server would need to know about every alliance, every deed, every player within that deed, every branded animal that is allocated under that deed, the permissions set by that deed, and so much more... about every other server within the cluster. While on the surface it seems simple to just say "make it so I can chat with alliance members when on other servers" the actual task is "rework the entire server alliance/deed infrastructure so that we can have cross server interaction." Doing anything short of that would be a subpar implementation where bugs would crop up and the functionality would be limited. What happens when a deed is added to an alliance when members are off server? What if a deed kicks a member? What if roles within the alliance changes (such as capital deed) and then the deed that used to be the capital is removed while the mayor is off-server the whole time? These questions and more would need to be accounted for in a system that would require consistent maintenance with any new features moving forward. In the end, it's simply not worth it.

Bloodreina, from what I have read, you seem to be an analytical person. So let's analyse this problem... analytically. It is true that you have tried many measures to solve your predicament, but all these measures have something in common: they are all within the scope of the Northern Freedom Isles cluster. Now, having never been on NFI myself, I cannot definitively say that the problem lies with the fact that you play on the NFI cluster. But based on the inputs of so many other people across several of your forum posts, perhaps it could be the problem. I understand that you have already invested a not-insignificant amount of time and money on your NFI character, but seeing as though you value the social aspect of the game so much, it may be a worthwhile sacrifice to make. That is, create a fresh character and play on SFI. Even though I could not speak towards the "badness" of NFI (because I've never been there), I can definitely speak about the "goodness" of SFI, based on my own personal experiences. I am honoured to be in an alliance that is talkative, humourous, and generous. I've even gushed about it in a recent forum post (see last post). This "goodness" holds especially true for Xanadu as it's just so damn big and populated! My alliance stretches over a vast swathe of the server. If you decide to move to SFI, I think you will get your best-of-both-worlds experience, that is, both the "Wurm" and "Online" part of Wurm Online.

Unfortunately for you I think that quite a lot of people still remember this post: Your general attitude in that thread made quite an impression - But perhaps not of the kind you'd ideally wish for if you're looking to seem approachable. And if pointing out that your own behaviour is what is hampering your ambitions is what you'd call "attacking" you, then I suppose that's how you'll see this. My intentions are, however, to once again remind you that you cannot expect people to act according to your (unrealistic) expectations. You also cannot claim that they've "failed" you when they don't meet your expectations.

Distant Rendering for Wurm Unlimited Our team finally found enough time to implement distant rendering into the Wurm Unlimited client. Therefore, we created a mod that enables distant tree rendering and so implemented a feature that has been requested a lot for the last years. This mod requires Ago's client modloader that can be downloaded from GitHub: https://github.com/ago1024/WurmClientModLauncher/releases Simply put this mod into your Wurm Unlimited client mod folder like any other mod. This mod only works on servers that are using the server side mod that improves the distant terrain generation. Server side mod: (for server admins) The server side mod can be found at the following URL: https://gitlab.com/Dominikk/wu-sklotopolis-distantrendering-server/-/releases Requires Ago's server modloader from GitHub: https://github.com/ago1024/WurmServerModLauncher/releases Client side mod: (for every player) The client side mod can be found at the following URL: https://gitlab.com/Dominikk/wu-sklotopolis-client-distantrendering-pub/-/releases Please report any found problems as a GitLab issue, we will look into them. In case you find any problem please include as many details as possible and screenshots of the problem. You are using these mods at your own risk! You can use the command: render_distance <Number of tiles> in the console that can be opened by pressing the F1 key. This number can be changed on runtime and does not need a restart of the game. You also can set this number by typing the following command into the autorun.txt of the game config you are using: render_distance 400 (This will set your render distance to 400 on login and ignore the value in the properties file) The autorun.txt file is located at the following Windows directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wurm Unlimited\WurmLauncher\PlayerFiles\configs\default The last word in our case default is the name of the config you are using, you can change this config in the Settings of your Wurm Launcher. (Before you join a server) Known Issues and Limitations: The mod currently only works on servers that use the server side mod that improves distant terrain generation. If you crash with an OutOfMemory error either perform the OPTIONAL part below or reduce the render distance to like 400 or 500 in the properties file of the client mod. Every 125 tiles of movement there is a small lag spike on the client because the render origin is changed to shrink the vertices. Performance is good but not perfect small lag spikes can happen, I am testing with a Gefore GTX 1050Ti from 2017, getting around 50 FPS. Reduce the rendering range in the properties file if your FPS drop too low. This mod will not run on the old potatoe you bought as a PC 10 years ago (OPTIONAL) If you want to render really far This step is optional and solves a potential out of memory error. It only works on pretty decent hardware. Navigate to the root directory of the Wurm Unlimited Client (wurmlauncher) and check if you have the file "LaunchConfig.ini". Edit or create it and enter the following details: [Memory] InitialHeap=512m MaxHeapSize=8192m Screenshots

Perhaps it is time that Wurm had actual bandages for bandaging, made from other cotton (or wool) items and consuming those items in the making. I am not suggesting disabling bandaging with cotton and such, although bandaging should not be possible with puppets, and using a whole rug or sail to wrap a bite on the hand is excessive. What I am suggesting is that a knife/sword/scissors could be used on squares of cloth, rugs, sails, clothes, etc to create bandages. The action time would be based on the weight of the material, and the whole of the item would be consumed in creating a like weight of bandages. Make bandages more effective than other cotton items of the same ql. Give more healing skillgain for using bandages than other items. Give healing skillgain for making bandages.

I'm well aware that most people will either ignore this thread, or go straight defensive and start attacking me. And that's OK. I still feel that what I have to say is important and I want to say it. I know most of you like to say that Wurm's community it's one of its strongest assets. And, up to a point, it really is a nice community, much more mature and less toxic than many other communities (not saying there are no trolls here too, but way less than in other places). Yet, while not toxic, it is definitely not very vibrant or helpful either. Actually (and I apologize if this offends any one) it feels like it is made of some of the most self centered people in any of the games that I played far now, where pretty much everyone (again with a very few exceptions) is only focusing on their actions and are hardly interested in what the other people are doing. I am a social player. I like to chat with fellow players and participate to group activities. And Gods know that I did tried to find people to socialize with in game. And here are a few examples: - Tried to start an alliance here - no answers whatsoever - and when that failed tried to join an alliance here - no answers whatsoever - or at least meet my neighbors here - no answers whatsoever - Tried to look for a mentor here - no answers whatsoever - or friends here - no answers whatsoever - or fellow Romanian/Moldavian players here - no answers whatsoever On top of that I was always active (and I consider that I was also nice and positive most of the times) both on server chat and on discord. Yet all my efforts show low to no success. The freedom chat is radio silent for the most part of the day. With one or two exceptions people in my friends list never message me unless I message them first (I honestly can't remember when was the last time when someone in my FL checked out on me to just see how my day was). I consider myself a nice and positive person and in most games that I've played I had tons of friends and there are games where I stopped actively playing years ago, but when I log from time to time to check how things are, my screen lights like a Christmas tree from all the messages that I get. So I really don't consider that I am the problem. Still, here, I completely failed. Or, maybe, the "online" part of Wurm Online failed me. Anyhow, I end up feeling almost completely alone. And it honestly s***s, up to the point where it end up being one of my worst (if not the worst) experiences and feelings I had in all the MMORPGs that I played before. I still love the "Wurm" part of Wurm Online, so I'll probably keep playing it (to a certain degree), but I'm honestly done trying to make the "Online" part work for me. Why should you care about my stupid rant? Maybe because there are other (new) players that feel just like me and quit the game in silence. Maybe because you share a tiny bit of fault why Wurm is just a small niche game with a very high churn rate. It's easy to blame the developers for their decisions (or lack of), but maybe it's not entirely their fault and we all share a part of this fault. In my case it was not the Wurm part, but the Online part of Wurm Online that failed me...

QL 82.47 Dam: 0 A long and slender sword. The longsword needs to be sharpened with a whetstone. It has the bastard longsword skin applied to it. You can barely make out the signature of its maker, 'Pantha'. Nimbleness has been cast on it, so it increase the chance to hit. [101] Life Transfer has been cast on it, so it will transfer life to you when harming enemies. [97] Starting bid: 3 s Increment (minimum): 25 c Reserve: No Buyout: No Sniper Protection: 30 minutes https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/File:Bastard_longsword_skin.png edit: I'm calling time on this auction. I think the final price has been established.

Life Transfer is OP. There, I said it. The fact that it targets your most severe injury means that, if you come out of a fight with twenty injuries, one of which is worsening, so what? Go and find a bear or spider and your first hit will heal that one injury.

[11:46:38] A ship with a clinker-built hull assembled with iron rivets, and one mast with a square yard sail. In insufficient wind it is rowed with oars. The side rudder is on the starboard side. This is a very rare and interesting version of the item. It is locked with a lock of very good quality. It is made from lingonberrywood. You must use a mallet on the "Lobster Yacht" in order to improve it. Ql: 90.11826, Dam: 0.0. The name of the owner, Rocklobster, has been etched in the stern. [11:46:38] You can easily make out the signature of its maker, 'Qdlaty'. [11:46:38] A bronze rune of Vynora has been attached, so it will increase the effect on speed by wind (7.5%) and increase vehicle speed (5%) Starting Bid: 50s Minimum Increments: 1s Buyout: offer Sniper Protection: 2 hours

Would I finally get my rare shimmering bandages from healing MOIs? Seriously as someone who constantly heals via bandaging I really do like this idea. When I think of bandaging I picture an actual cloth bandage so when I first started playing Wurm I had no idea that cotton was considered a bandage and nearly died from my wounds until someone used cotton and covers to heal me. And in RL bandages are much more effective than plain cotton. It seems to me that having to make a bandage of certain items first as apposed to just using the whole item (i.e. Med rug) would stop the unintentional use of those for bandaging. On a side note I think the ability to caurterize a wound with a searing hot blade etc. should be an option for severe puncture wounds turning them into medium burn wounds. Also honey could be added to the equation as it was used by many ancient peoples as a natural disinfectant so maybe it's use could speed up a healing tick?

Odd Blades Do you do Archaeology? Have you ever made a scissor blade that was...lets just say... NOT iron? how embarrassing! This can be a problem, especially if you get a rare or supreme scissor blade, as the difference in the sale value between iron scissors and other metals can be significant. Myth: You need another blade of the same metal surely? False: No, you don't - all 'metal' type blades will combine with an iron scissor blade, and all 'alloy' blades will combine with a steel blade - you can just make the 2nd iron or steel scissor blade (as appropriate) in the forge. How do we know which metal type the finished scissors will be? Myth: It's random, isn't it? False: No, it's not random - YOU control the finished metal type, and here's how... Activate the 'odd' metal type blade and then combine with the iron blade (this also ensures any archaeology runes on the 'odd' blade will transfer to the finished scissors!) The RUNES come from the activated (double-clicked green) blade, but the METAL TYPE comes from the non-activated blade. Here's the proof: Scissor Experiment I made some scissor blades in archaeology, of various types - 5 were in 'odd' metals, so I then made some more iron blades in the forge (shown warm) so that there were the same number of iron and 'odd' metals (5 pairs each containing one 'odd' blade and one iron blade): First, the WRONG way: I first activated (double clicked) an iron blade and then combined it with a zinc blade: The resulting scissors were zinc (see below) and the runes from the zinc blade were not transferred across. The RIGHT way: I next activated (double clicked) a zinc blade and then combined it with an iron blade: The resulting scissors were iron (metal type from the non-activated blade), and contained the runes (transferred from the activated zinc blade) The remaining 'odd' metal blades had runes (left images), so I activated each in turn and combined each with it's own non-activated iron blade to make iron scissors which retained the runes (right images): I hope this helps those of you who are lucky enough to make a rare+ scissor blade of *any* metal type, and want scissors in a sensible metal, but are worried about how to combine it. TL:DR For guaranteed iron or steel metal type from a blade with an 'odd' metal type: Activate scissor blade with the unwanted metal and combine with iron blade if metal, or steel blade if alloy. For guaranteed rune(s): Activate runed scissor blade of any metal type (with the runes you definitely want on it) and combine with iron blade if metal or steel blade if alloy. For guaranteed rarity from a rare+ blade: Activate rare+ scissor blade, and combine with iron blade if metal or steel blade if alloy. Update: @Hailiahhas discovered we can use the above system to combine steel blades with iron blades to make steel scissors, and moonmetal blades with other metal blades to create moonmetal scissors!

No I disagree wholeheartedly with sacrificing the security of players' belongings just so people can have a crack at picking at the bones of possibly the same players that are burned by the lack of that simple safety net in the first place. Within the Freedom market, selling locks is not a part of the market except in the case of favor. A 1ql lock performs identically to a 99ql lock for security purposes and the only change would be quality locking on bulk items which again, I really have not ever seen a strong market for as once you get a few locks you are set. As for making bsb's, that is really not a lot of effort to simply remove the locks so I fail to see the ground to stand on there. The better solution to that incredibly niche case would be to allow bsb's with a lock on them to be utilized to make bulk container units. A tough shit you failed to secure your items is something that all of us old timers have preached for years, but at the end of the day it doesn't give the lseson we think it does to new players instead they quit the game and turn into those spots that people love to loot. Disagreeing with a change that is beneficial to about everyone when it comes to the security of their belongings just because it makes it harder to pick at the corpses of players past; less crappy scenarios where people can be burned by not knowing that you have to make a lock to secure things proper is one less scenario that would feed into someone's decision to resub.

You are rite , the game had a more lively felling to it long ago . But as time goes by it has just died off . Less and less people still play Wurm official mainly . The ones who still play are the diehards . I have not seen anyone in alliance in over 1 year thats is 365 days easy .. They need to open north and south to get players moving around .. I think this may be one reason less people are still around.. Plus there are allot of newer games out and people taste just change.. I have seen you go by my deed on Melody and have waved to you.. That tunnel top north east ... Wish you luck in your travels , may be time to look at another game..

The game doesn't just feel lonely on melody it is lonely on there, reason I swapped to Wurm Unlimited, have a nice group of players with exciting new content, with less issues to be honest. Some big issues need to be addressed, but the complete mess of the creative competition was the last straw for me, just seems if the people running the show dont care, time to talk with my wallet, I feel for the people who entered and won and had to wait with delays and issues, very poor advert for wurm imo. Wurm wont die, it can happily plod on, but it loses a little something each and ever year it limps on, a real shame as this could have been something very special, as nothing came close to wurm, some tough love needed to fix things now I feel. I thought the steam release was to learn from some past mistakes, to have a boost in numbers and have content ready to go, to keep momentum going, instead we have a buggy release and then nothing, very quickly the people i played with all thought the same, it was a cash grab, I do now think after all this time they have to merge the player base, might lose the odd alt, but it would be better for the remaining players to be able to play together and explore.

Lack of players is definitely a big part of it. It also doesn't help that things like alliances don't cross server borders while there are a lot of servers, thus worsening the impact of the lack of players.

Back in early 2018, I helped @KindraShaewhen she was relatively new to game and setting herself up on a nearby island. But mostly, I befriended her. A few months later, I was hit with a most unusual and severe case of burnout for Wurm. I quit the game entirely announced and basically decided one day to stop logging on. Fast forward to 2022, and Wurm found its way back into my life again. The itch for this game never really goes away for good. I was welcomed back to the game by Kindra, who has by now become one of the most established and altruistic people on the server. For all these years, she's kept alive one of my original 35km/h horses, completed with the enchanted horse kit and the Christmas present saddle sacks. I would not have known, until she brought it up and offered to return the horse to me. This is probably the closest I've come to shedding a year in an online game, so thank you Kindra 😀
