A red dragon hatchling has been trapped and claimed to be used for a public slaying event! The blood can be used to make oil of weapon smith! Thank you to.. Annasari for finding the hatchling and letting me host it for the general public! Please redirect any potential donations that way! Altho I wouldn't get sad if someone would donate a re-cast of my lava tile that recently froze while they're at the slaying 😁 I found someone to cast one for me! The time of the slaying is.. on Sunday at 9 pm CET Location of the event is.. On the pink spot. You can travel by boat (of any size) through the red path if you come from another server. I'd suggest parking the boat anywhere between Fortress Artorias and Rainbow Rising and simply walk east until you hit the lake. Then follow it north until you find a guard tower. Any of the deeds nearby the slaying seen on the map below can be found on the highway. Here's a link to the cadence community map. Disclaimers: Have: A mood to party! Bring: a tent if you feel unsafe. Know: to not ride a cart or a wagon during the battle, especially while using hell horses as draft animals.

"What do you mean they made an extra?" "Ya, just that, we have an extra." "Great. Well, you go back and make sure extras don't happen any more. OK?" "Yep, got it." So, having found ourselves with an EXTRA wagon, we decided to not be greedy and to auction the wagon off. Now, as you can tell by the conversation above - I have no idea of wood type (could be any), quality (will likely just be creation) and I seriously doubt it will have a rune on it. It will, however have that wonderful graphic that you can see below (the pictured wood is Lingonberry, in case you are wondering - and is my wagon - no touchie), and will be that nice shade of orange fading to purple on the canvas area that people so seam to like. Buyer will pick up on coastal Xan. Process shall be as follows: You win the auction (congrats BTW). I will mail you a wood scrap COD. You accept. Once you accept I will move the wagon to the shore just off deed, put your name as the wagon name and transfer ownership to you. You sail up, load it, and sail away. Easy. Starting Bid: 25s Min Bid Increment: 5s Reserve: Yes, hidden Buyout: no Sniper Protection: Yes, 30 min Private Bids: No

In reality, this is actually a fair depiction of how spring looks. You still have snow, but certain tree types will be evergreens and give a nice green - white contrast. Out of all the bugs in wurm, I wish this would actually be a feature for the winter - spring transition. Example : https://www.nycgovparks.org/pagefiles/160/pinetum-central-park__602ea2d74b392.jpg

that explains it better thanks - was just afraid you want to remove the highway permanently or something like that! if it's just a temporary thing and you'll replace it, by all means go ahead, personally can't see any problems with that. ps - also it's nowhere near todays rift either and i can't see it influencing navigating to it, so i don't think you'll have to wait unless someone else has a problem with it...

Some of us really like building highways. While it is nice that the catseyes already record the name of the planter for posterity, perhaps it is not too much of a ask to add a few titles to reflect how many total catseyes that a character has planted. This for me would make building highways just that much more rewarding 😃
  10. 2 points
I guess the argument would be that theres already titles for paving, but that doesn't nessicerly mean you built a lot of highways As long as it doesn't encourage people to build useless highways everywhere just for getting a title I'm all for Highway building being a bit more rewarding.

Do you know if there was a traitor mission recently? I think these appear after a traitor creature was killed for a mission. I'm not sure if it was exactly the same but I remember seeing a weird effect like this lasting a while after I had killed a traitor cow.

This happens when part of the graphics packs are in winter and part in spring, and can be caused by crossing between servers, especially when different servers are in different seasons (the season change has a degree of randomness from server to server, so this happens normally). It's a harmless visual-only bug, which should go away if you relog.

Would be really nice if a pop-up box appeared telling you "You're about to use a < insert item name here> to bandage a wound. Are you sure you want to proceed?" Either that or just disable the ability to bandage wounds using puppets / rugs. Let's remove some sadness from the game.

What exactly were you planning to do here? I don't see any redundancy tbh and if you're traveling from the south this is the most likely road to take to get to many places and is often used, so I wouldn't recommend removing it...
  27. 1 point
Crossing from Epic <> Freedom does that. Personally I prefer this version of winter, as buggy as it is. Would like to see a poll in the future about bright snow. Winter is waay to bright in Wurm to the point it actively makes me not want to leave the deed till spring.

As an outsider visiting the area, I would have favoured a closer description what is "altered". Will the (highway) connection between the southwestern desert (or Erebor Village) and the northbound highway to Blossom (where frequently unique slayings took and prolly will take place in K15) be disrupted so that foreign visitors (relying on find route) from the south will be lead over Blossom to such a place? I would not be happy about. Missing on the communitiy map does not qualify a connection to be "inofficial" and prey to destruction in my opinion.

Soap could give timed immunity buff that reduces your chance of getting sick, with effectiveness and duration based on quality. That would be great for gatherings where people are constantly getting diseased, and for people who work with animals a lot and sometimes get sick while taking care of them. Soap can be made using fat and lye with natural substances skill, and maybe optional herbs could be added to raise the difficulty and effectiveness, similar to how meals work. The herb could change the name of the finished product based on what was added, for example "Soap" for the plain version, "Rose/lavender/mint/whatever scented soap" for a single herb or "Herbal soap" if multiple herbs were used. A pottery bowl could be used for mixing the ingredients, and maybe a new item for molding and curing the soap. A wooden soap mold creates a "loaf" of soap which must be sliced into several bars. If you want to be realistic the soap could first come out as "uncured" soap and have to sit for some time before it's ready to be used, otherwise "The bar of soap is too soft and would fall apart if you used it now." The curing process could work exactly the same as oxidizing tea leaves. Each time the soap is used it decreases in weight by a set amount until it's all gone. The washing action could take place by activating soap and right clicking on some water, or we could use the soap on water to "create lather", then use that to wash specific parts of the body one by one so you get a cumulative buff that increases the more body parts you wash (just kidding, please don't make us do that). I love this idea by the way, in case that wasn't obvious

Soap could be created by boiling animal fat in lye (using Alchemy or Natural Substances skill). Wash pottery items with soap and water to remove dmg (like the mend spell, maybe). Or use soap and water on a player's body to cure disease (using Healing skill, and maybe ql of the soap).

Also my best bet for water container are the measuring jugs already. Not too heavy and very versatile with the volume setting ability up to 10kg.
  38. 1 point
Given the volumes of some of the items that are made using plates, this would not be feasible. Lettuce alone, a staple in salads, is 1kg of volume. There are also many sandwich and salad recipes that involve liquid ingredients, requiring it to be able to hold liquids. Personally, I would have liked the plate to have been heavier to account for the fact that it is simply better in every way than a water skin, but this is how the game has been since the cooking update about 5 years ago. The main reason I have a problem with this, is that pottery items are not repairable / improvable once fired. Combine that with the fact that coffee and teapots do not have a safe storage location, aside from limited space in a magic chest, makes this a recurring problem. Now, with the increased volume as well, you can fit fewer of them per magic chest, requiring either more magic chests, or a continuous stream of creating new ones. Then you have to also decide is it worth improving a rather heavy pottery item, potentially with low pottery skill, and have it last a little while longer before it decays, or leave it at creation QL, and have it decay quickly. This is a frustrating experience all around.

The 'you can't reach' thing that stops you placing items on one side of a shelf sometimes is usually, I discovered, because you've pushed it nice and snug up to a wall and the game doesn't like placement on clipped objects. Pulling it one full tug towards you, placing your stuff, and then pushing it one tug back again has always fixed this problem for me! But yes, I agree - more placing things on things please, and definitely more things on bookshelves. Even when you hit the placement limit they still look half empty!

Also got a mail from G-Loot. Created account, got prize on it, but to withdraw it, I need to gave them too much personal data (like my id photo or driver's licence, also my real photo etc.). It is some kind of joke? In my opinion, just bank account number should be enough. Prize should be assigned to my e-mail address I gave to contest creators. If I was able to receive the link on that e-mail so why I should gave any more data to some company besides account number? 125 euro is a nice prize but I won't gonna bother go through all this crap and share all my personal data in to the void. I guess then, I need to resign from my reward. Greetings form abandoned Desertion on abandoned Epic server on niche game of niche games.

Just to be clear, there's no such thing as an ''official' auction* - all auctions are player-run, and staff do not get involved, nor will we adjudicate between parties when they go wrong. As always, your reputation is yours, and you are free to run your auctions however you please, or to bid (or not) in whatever auctions you wish. We do offer a set of guidelines on how to run auctions, to help those who aren't sure, but they are guidelines, not absolute requirements; you can ignore them if you wish. It is essentially impossible to stop bad actors putting in shill bids, no matter what rules we put in place - to do this, we would have to fundamentally change how the game and forums work, and that brings a whole other set of problems, so it's not going to happen. *there are, very rarely, auctions run by the Wurm team in an official capacity - these may be promotions or disposing of seized ill-gotten gains. These are very rare (I can think of maybe 3 since I joined the staff team), and they're really obvious when you see them.

Some background info and early decisions 1. Being such a complex and awesome game, Wurm can easily become addictive and since I always strive to stay in control of my time and maintain a healthy balance between the different aspects of my life, I decided from very early on that it's very important for me to set some limits for my play time, so I can be sure that I don't let the game interfere with the other parts of my (real) life. The last time I was here I played around with quite a few different time quotas here, but in the end I decided to stick with the one that makes most sense to me - play for as long (and only for as long) as I have sleep bonus that I can use, which would probably average to a bit over one hour per day, with the occasional weekend splurge after a global cast or something, but, anyway, I doubt that I'll ever cross the 60 hours per month mark. 2. As a student, working a part-time job, money are always tight, but I know that time is even a scarcer commodity for me, so I realized that trying to play the game as a F2P player would simply not work out well. I definitely don't say that it is impossible and I got to meet a few people that succeeded in game as F2P players, but in order to achieve that you need to be able to invest a lot of time in the game, much more than I could ever dream to. That's why, when I returned (luckily enough it was right during Black Friday sale) I purchased the one year subscription package (for which I paid 47,03€) and the 50 silvers package (for which I paid 37,49€), which together with the coins that I got from selling my sleep powders (24 silver) were enough to also cover my deed upkeep for one year (despite having a rather large deed with an upkeep close to 6 silver coins per month). That set me for a whole year, and if I add them up I come to a total of 84,52€, which I think is more than reasonable for a year worth of entertainment (it translates to about 7 euros per month, which is probably lower than the cost of any subscription based MMO). 3. Initially, I decided to stick with a small 21x23 (483 tiles) size for my deed, without a guard, since the setup cost was lower than the five silvers which were included in the initial package (exact price was 4s 83c, which included the first three months of upkeep) and the monthly upkeep cost was as close as possible, yet still below the minimum cost of one silver per month (any deed smaller than this would still cost one silver, so there wouldn't be any savings, so basically no reason for going smaller). Eventually though, my perfect spot, at which I've dreamed since day one, became available (more details about that later) and I simply couldn't let the opportunity pass me, so I overextended "a bit". Yet, even so, as I just said in the previous point, since I took advantage of the Black Friday sale, I managed to keep my total cost for both the premium membership and the deed upkeep at about 7 euros, which is probably lower than the cost of any subscription based MMO. 4. I made sure that I understood (and accepted) that there are a lot of people willing to invest much more in Wurm than me, both in terms of time and money and there's no way I could even dream to compete with them. That's why I decided to not even try to compare myself with anyone else, but just focus on my own place, on my own story and on my own progress, done at a pace that I'm comfortable with, and simply don't care how fast or how slow the other people are progressing. And, if you're a casual player, that's the single most important advice I can give you: hike you own hike and don't compare yourself with other players, because, comparison really is the thief of joy; and if anyone else tries to tell you how you should play the game, simply tell them to BEEP OFF - it's your time and your money and you can approach the game in any way you want; as long as you're having fun out of it, you're winning it! My deed I decided that, despite the many inherent disadvantages, I'd really like to have a private island all for myself... ideally one that is neither too big (because I wanted to keep in control both costs and required time to maintain it), neither too small (so I don't have to keep travelling back and forth to the mainland), somehow close to the server edge, with at least some rock layer and, if possible, with some clay tiles. And ever since day one, when I first saw Melody's map I totally fall in love with the small island at K25 - it was everything I could have dreamed and some more, but unfortunately, I was beaten on the land race grab race, so I could only congratulate the owners and keep searching. Eventually I found another place to call home, but my heart was still on that island and I kept checking on it and saving coins hoping that one day it would come on the market and I could afford to buy it. And, surprisingly, one happy day, my prayers were answered, the deed went for sale and I was able to grab it and ever since I'm really living my dream on my own little personal paradise. Then, once again, I was lucky that by the time I got back from the dead, I was able to get back my deed and continue from where I left. If you want to pay me a visit you're more than welcome and I'm always happy to have guests, but if you just want to take a sneak peak, here's the current deed planner export: https://imgur.com/a/NHotoHJ My play style While I definitely don't recommend this play style to other people, I decided to set some extra challenges for myself to make the game more interesting and increase immersion. I should probably not even mention the fact that I dropped all the starting tools and started from scratch, since that was represented just a minor delay, but just focus on the two big limitations that I set for myself: to never use any enchants, runes or items that I haven't gathered, crafted and improved myself and to play in a semi-permadeath mode (since I did died and I eventually returned I can't really call it permadeath mode anymore). And the solution I found is that every time from now on if (or better said when) I'll die, I will have to buy myself a golden mirror and resurrect as "someone new". And since it does cost 15 silver coins per resurrection, if I'll run out of coins I'll be forced to take a break from the game 'till I make some more money IRL to afford to buy some more favor with the Gods. Talking about the distribution of my play time, I realized (only after it became a burden that almost made me quit the game) that they key to make any (meaningful) progress as a casual player with limited play time is to try to minimize the time spent on daily chores as much as possible (so produce only what I actually need, not start hoarding things just for the sake of hoarding) and to not spread my resources too thin, but instead try to focus them on one mini-project at a time (which should be doable in less than a month) and only switch to a new one once the first one is completed. This way I should be able to keep reaching mini goals/milestone on a regular basis, which would give me a constant constant sense of achievement and allow me to build towards bigger projects over time and if I'll look back I'll can always see a clear timeline, like "December was the month when I worked on building my harbor".

Ramoth and Wildeyedstorm - No one knows you two but I remember. We left The Landing and the three of us created Port Benden on chaos. I really enjoyed the time we played together and hope the town I finished was something you two would be proud of. Maybe someday I'll see you all again. Duce - For taking time to talk with me about JK politics, the kingdom, and recruiting strategies. I really appreciate everything you did, never had any doubts you were genuine. Dskaggsgv - For being a great punching bag.
