Another game I play is Conan Exiles. In that game, you can't edit the shape of the land. To build there, they solid square foundation blocks, which are the equivalent of a 1x1 house tile here. They can be placed into the ground, with part of it submerged and part exposed to the air. THis allows us to create a building platform on the side of sloped hill or mountain, where we can add walls, doors, fencing, etc. I would think this could be done in Wurm, if only where the dirt layer is thick enough, because tucking it into rock could create a lot of issues with mines. We use the "drop - place" feature to position the first foundation block, then any additional blocks would "snap" to the first one. I think the mechanics for this already exist with bridge structures, which have footings that are effectively buried into the ground on slopes and also completely solid. A change like this would allow for so much more creativity in building out our deeds, no longer forcing everyone to flatten out huge areas of land for each building.

The player who runs the auction decides how the auction will run. If someone doesnt like how its done they can easily refrain from bidding.

Enough derailing - you've said your pieces, now let's stick to the auction at hand. If you want to carry on the discussion about whether private or in-game bids are acceptable, either take it to PMs or start a separate thread somewhere else. Pandalet (LFM)

Considering auctions in Wurm Online are entirely player run, I see no reason for disallowing PM-bidding. If you don't like it or don't trust it, don't bid on it.

We did, but it was a bit messy with permissions. A special type of book that can be accessible for all to read and write in regardless of deed/building perms would have been very nice! I have an idea for this: It could be crafted like a normal book, but with a string of cloth and a reed pen added to the crafting materials. It could be secured to a table so only the person who placed it (or others with deed/building perms) can pick it up, or maybe it would be crafted with a small tripod table to produce a standalone item that can be secured to the ground. Even cooler would be a pedestal but that would mean creating a completely new item. The book would need to be filled with blank pages like a normal book, but it would also have a compartment to fill with ink or dye (the attached pen). As long as the book is supplied with ink/dye and paper the guests can just open it and activate their hand to sign a blank page without having to hold anything in their inventory.

There is always a chance that a forum bid is from an alt account of the OP’s. so even if the auction does not allow pm bids, there is no way to eliminate the chance of this happening.

I started breeding unicorns a long time ago as another animal to breed and because, heck, who doesn't want to look amazing riding a unicorn around? You see hell horses from time to time, but never a unicorn. Pros A clear use case to improve animal taming alongside animal husbandry Great opportunity to also improve mining/blacksmithing to make some fancy silver shoes Won't bite your face off like an untamed hell horse - and correspondingly you never have to worry about accidentally killing your unicorn because it tried to bite your face off Speed traits are always on, so that unicorn flies Cons Must be tamed to ride, which means mounted combat is off the table (unless you're, like, into getting your mount killed from under you and having to walk home - some people might be into that?) Since we can only tame/charm one animal at a time, you need two players to have enough to hitch to a cart to make it useful Slow as mud with two riders - about as fast as a donkey with no traits if I remember correctly Worst of all, you need to tame them to breed them (unlike hell horses) So many times, I'd head down to the paddocks to breed the bison, the horses, the sheep, the cows, and the hell horses and just couldn't be bothered to deal with the unicorns. Even with a reasonable 68 AT, I'd miss a taming roll as often as not, wind up with an angry unicorn, have to back away and untarget, rinse and repeat. It was just enough of a burden that I wouldn't bother until they started to die of old age which would force me to do another round of breeding. Plus with the recent AH changes, the 'impossibly fast' trait on horses makes that horse even faster than a 4s unicorn. It's not clear that Unicorns can also receive the 'Extremely Tame' trait that a hell horse can, but a hell horse with 'Extremely Tame' removes the issue with mobs targeting the mount. After two years of breeding unicorns, I finally threw in the towel and just recently liquidated released the last of my unicorns into the wild - keeping my favorite 4s as a keepsake. But you do you! There are a few unicorn breeders out there and I'll never tell anyone not to chase their dreams.

Hey, I want to breed unicorns as mounts but I have been hearing a lot of talk that they might not be desirable due to certain game mechanics. I am trying to gather feedback from others about the topic and how they feel generally about the usefullness of unicorns. Do you ride a unicorn? If you do why, if you dont, also why. I am curious. Okay thanks!

I would like a chain fence gate added to the game. We have these nice chain fences now but if we use them as edging around say a garden area with trees and shrubs we block off all access to that area or are forced to put in a huge gate in comparison to the small chain fence that the other tiles have. The only other option is to bash down a fence every time you want to make changes or repair any statues/decoration in the garden area. To make it visible as the gate just put a lock on the center link or something

I keep a few breeding pairs and occasionally ride them around on deed where it's safe, but it's just not practical to actually use them as mounts, sadly. It's too risky with aggro. I do like that they are more challenging to work with than horses though, because it's a goal to work toward and feels like an accomplishment to get there. It also makes sense from a RP/immersion perspective that unicorns are a specialty mount that take more skill to use and are reserved for those who are more focused on animal handling. The only thing stopping me from using them is the aggro issue, because once you do get to the point where you can reliably tame and ride one it just isn't worth the risk to actually take it anywhere. If only we could keep them safer from aggro somehow, maybe it could be a perk that comes with higher taming skill, or maybe it could be a special unicorn-only trait that could start to appear in them at higher AH skill, or maybe activated by a piece of equipment, or something like that.

Already too much maintenance in the game for the few players still playing : repairing lamps, filling them with fuel (assuming not blessed), repairing guard towers and colossi, feeding animals, etc. This would just add more maintenance to the game.

Great thanks again to Lodoc, and Stanlee and his team who made this event possible. Thanks to all the priests summoning players to the area. It was a nice and smooth event, and the inevitable lag stayed relatively moderate. Thanks also to the GM who fished the unfortunate sailors from other servers out of the ocean at server borders as every time. Edit: Any pics?

This kind act of remembrance shows me, who never knew him that i wish i had, but it also shows me how much you all care for his memory and your memories of him. I embrace you all and thank you for sharing this memorial.

A gate for the iron chain fencing would be great. I envision it as visually the same design, with maybe a heavy padlock in the center that would fall to the ground (the whole iron chain) when opening, as the animation. =Ayes=

Cadence Community Map Im working together with@Yagaon making and maintaining the Cadence community map. The official community map link is here: >>> http://cadence.yaga.host/ <<< This map is currently using the ingame map as a background. Note that as soon as the official map dumps of the Northern Freedom Isles are released, we will change the background. Colors and symbols: How to add stuff: Please post in this thread to report new or changed data. (Do not send PMs, neither on the forum nor in-game! Do not use Discord to add data either!) Please use tile coordinates (x, y) to report new map data. (Hover your mouse pointer over the location you wish to report, click once to see the coordinates in the "Selected" field, copy the coordinates.) Deeds: Please report the settlement name and the coordinates of the settlement token. Example: "Serendipity Bay [1650, 1384]" DO NOT POST DEEDS THAT AREN'T YOURS OR HAVE APPROVAL TO POST BY MAYOR. IF you find your deed has been added without consent, please post here. When the official map dumps arrive we will take on these things: Highways: Please report the coordinates of all points describing the highway (start, "corners", end). Please use this format: "[305,1453], [305,1415], [226,1415], [226,1383], [156,1383]" Tunnels, Canals, Bridges: Like highways. These elements can also be given a name. Other: You can also report clay and tar resources, guard towers, and special named landmarks (like names of lakes and mountains, as long as agreed among the local community.) Features 1. Map coordinates: The map offers a common type of map grid (as an optional overlay), using the same denotation as the in-game map (for example "E 24"). However, to place and find locations in a much more detailed way the new map is based on "tile coordinates" (x, y), making it possible to narrow down locations to a single tile on the server! This allows us to place deeds and landmarks much more precisely than before. (Map coordinates are explained in the next post.) 2. Zoom: The map provides various zoom levels, allowing to zoom in from a view of the entire server to close-ups of single deeds. 3. Layers - This point will get added when we have the official map dump of Cadence: Deeds, Tunnels, Canals, Bridges etc. are actually map layers which can be toggled on and off. You can also choose among two map types (Terrain, Topographical). 4. Finding settlements: The map offers an easy-to-use search function for deeds. 5. Selecting locations and copy coordinates: You are able to select any point on the map and save the coordinates for future use. Map Development: The software for this map was developed by Substr, and will be maintained and updated by both Substr and Yaga. It is part of an ongoing project. Further improvements and features will be added in future updates. I would like to share my thanks to Sybstr and Yaga who creates quality community content.

I do indeed care about auction behavior. The difference here is that you're the only one (as far as I know and have ever heard?) that thinks that pm-bidding is bad. I don't think it's bad. It's not easier to create an in-game account -> open up a second game client and pm oneself with a bid (especially if you're a steam player, like me) -> take a screenshot of said bid -> put the screenshot on imgur -> post in my own auction with the screenshot and the bid info than it is to create a second forum account -> open a second container tab in firefox, log in to the forum account -> bid. And as far as I'm concerned, that's your only reason and logic to why it's bad (which isn't a reasoning that holds -.-'). So with a negative effect that doesn't hold and a positive effect which allows those people who don't want to sign up and create multiple accounts to play a game to bid.. How do I explain that something is bad when I think it is good? So, can you stop using flimsy logic (that doesn't hold up) to try to attack and accuse me? You want me to understand that you "can" accuse me, not that you are doing so, but you pretending that creating a second in-game account to be shady is some sort of big brain move and hinting to the fact that I'm doing this isn't really convincing me that you're not. This isn't me not understanding this, I just simply don't think that you actually legitimately believing that it's easier to be shady by pm-bidding oneself compared to creating a second forum account (which anyone with more IQ than a goat can see). Therefore, between the two options of you trying to purposefully drag my name through the mud or you having the IQ of a goat (you're a human, not a goat, so this is very unlikely) I'm betting on the likely one; That you're targeting me. So it's not about me not understanding that you "can" accuse but you're not. It's that I'm convinced that you are.

I would ride a unicorn to transfer my alt to a place because two toons can ride a unicorn but i haven't done it because i need to tame a unicorn to ride and i don't have a decent taming skill to tame it. So, i didn't but i would. Now i use large cart with normal horses to transfer my alt. And i have no intention to level up my taming skill for now because i am busy with other stuff.

Coach there is no reason to air this out here. If someone wants to be a bad actor they can just make 2 new forum accounts and auction something on one then bid on it with the other. Your entire point is moot as pm bids are the same and we're just mucking up this guys auction.

So I just dug through my auction posts to find this info; I've allowed people to in-game bid on my auctions for the last 9 months and have never allowed private bids. If I wanted to a chance to be shady, I'd simply just allow private bids and deny every accusation and nobody could even say anything about it. As far as i know, I've seen multiple people allowing private bids and never once seen you comment on any of their auctions. However, me not allowing private bids but allowing people to bid in-game is shady enough for you to call out. "I'm not accusing OP of being shady and I'm not saying OP is shady but OP could be shady.. guys, OP could be shady!! I'm not saying he is, I really really am not but he could be, guys!" .. As if anyone can't just make a new forum acc to bid on their own auctions or have friends bid on their auctions to do exactly what you're pointing out I'm suddenly able to do by allowing in-game bids. With all of that, you still poke at me. Why have you not tried to do anything about the other ways of doing the thing you're suggestions that I can suddenly do as if I'm the only one who can due to allowing in-game bids? Wouldn't that make you not want to bid on any auctions and not just specifically mine? It seems like you tried really hard to find something to use to poke at me even with the obvious and very easy other ways to do the exact same thing you're saying I could be doing. Yet here you are, poking at specifically me. So my question is, do you have anything in particular against me or something to be trying to drag my name through the mud the way you're doing?

There is nothing in the rules that says you can't harvest off-deed, open-land resources such as fruit, lumber, dirt, etc. If you have close neighbors, though, and want to be courteous, you can always ask them if the fruit forest is important to them. Otherwise, get that fruit! 🙂 It's awesome that you're being considerate though!

Agreed, raising of the iron chain a bit should be the priority in this situation. Otherwise I like how it currently looks with the normal iron gate. But would prefer a gate to match, with a padlock like others have suggested.

I'd rather the chain fence was raised than a shorter gate. Then it wouldn't clip in to floors etc. too, or look like we should be able to walk straight over it.

+1 for something that opens, and that goes well with the chain fences - not sure if I am sold on the current iron gate design they got, but shrunk down it sure beats current options

I think this should be just a new fence low iron fence or somthing then use the chain with a big padlock on it for the chain gate. (either way +1)
