    If you consider the ethnicity of the earth, only a minority is represented in Wurm. This has been brought up many times and we really aren't making progress. Character models are super cheesy anyway, so isn't it time for an overhaul? If you don't care about diversity for ethical reasons, you SHOULD care about it for economic reasons. A lot of people like to bond with their characters and they do so by customizing their appearance into something they can connect with. If the models are based on graphics from 15 years ago and have minimal diversity, you are ignoring the majority of your potential player base. Please get this on the roadmap.

    I know that @Arno was messing around with dyes right after the update and noticed some strange stuff and things happening. I'm sure he can give some more insight to this.

    From the Patch notes 21/OCT/21: I'm noticing unusual rounding errors when making 'large' batches of single color dye. My understanding of this update: when making 1kg batches of raw dye and adding them to a collection barrel, the dye in the barrel should eventually become the RGB of the worst quality dye in the barrel. For example: a collection barrel of of 85-90ql red dye should eventually converge to 240/15/15. As the quantity of the dye in the barrel grows, any given 1kg dose of dye moves the RGB value less. And since the lowest ql dye added will always pull the full value down - everything should ultimately converge to 240/15/15 (85ql). I'm noticing that when brewing large batches of dye of a single color and adding 1kg at a time to the collection barrel, the resulting RGB is lower than what should be the lowest bound. At first I thought this might just be me being sloppy and accidentally sorting a lower quality dye into the wrong barrel. But paying closer attention, I'm noticing moments in which this change does not behave as expected. Specifically: I have a barrel with 39kg of 227/28/28 red dye. I add 1kg of fresh 76ql red dye (231/24/24). I do not expect this dye to change the RGB value at all in any direction. I move the 1kg of dye into the collection barrel. I discover I now have 40kg of 226/29/29 red dye. In spite of adding a stronger red to the barrel which should at worst do nothing, The entire RGB of the collection barrel has moved in the wrong direction and become a weaker red.

    Yesterday I was making bunches of black dye and did the exact same thing. Several times I wondered why my barrel of 20-25 and 30-35 barrels had dye that was over 40-40-40. I was convinced I must have slipped up several times since that had happened, so I cleared the barrels and continued. As this happened again I started to be suspicious because I usually don't slip up that much and honestly it takes a lot of 1kg dye to change 22-22-22 to 41-41-41. Then I restarted telling myself not to worry about all the black dye of decent ql that had gone to waste and all the materials I can't gather myself as well. This time around I tried to be more attentive when I added the 1kg of newlymade black dye to the bulk I had made minutes before. For reference I make 1kg of black dye in measuring jugs and sort the results into barrels of appropriate intervals. I was solely working on black dye yesterday. In my 20-25 barrel (this means black dyes ranging from 20-20-20 RGB to 24-24-24 RGB) I had a bulk of 12kg black 24-24-24 and added 1kg of 22-22-22. I expected it to stay 24 or maybe slighty go down a bit, but to my surprise it changed the total 13kg to 25-25-25. In my mind that would and should and could never happen. How can black + better black = grey? So I asked in the alliance, and the answers I got got me more confused than anything. How am I suppose to make good black dye in bigger portions if I can't combine it without turning it grey? Why does black dye have to be even harder to make that it already is. As someone who has decent NS out of 300 acorns (100ql) and 300 irons (100ql) I am lucky to get 1kg 1-1-1 and 2kg 3-3-3 and then some more 4-4-4, but combining these latter ones gave me the result of 7-7-7. It hurts and there isn't much logic to it in my opinion. I am aware that it might be a counter to the 1-1-1 'hack' that someone did in the past (I was told at least) but I still don't get why it should be so much harder now. Thanks Sidereal for making this post and making it clear that I wasn't just losing my mind.

    This is so useful to know. I had not heard this at all and I thought I was losing my mind! In the meantime, I'll try and gather more data points. At the moment, I have no idea how to reliably reproduce it but if others have noticed it? I'm definitely intrigued.

Overall QL is capped by Alchemy skill level. The result is, that priests can get higher spell powers earlier and more frequently, while the alchemist needs a (RP) life of dedication and practice to get to really high powers.     How many times do you go to COD an item, and mean to go to the second page to enter the cost, but suddenly stop short with your mouse over the SEND button? "I'm not ready to send my item!" you say to yourself, even though you know from experience that it just brings up the next page. How much more confusing for the new player using the COD system for the first time? The SEND button dates from a time when the system was designed by programmers who were perhaps thinking in terms of the button's function - which is to 'send' data to the server. Time's moved on, and I think that there are new 'non-techie' players now who don't ask to be reminded of this. It's also about our immersion in the game world. In my opinion, a simple 'OK' or "Continue" or 'Next' might be far more intuitive, and cause a lot less confusion - especially when going to the 2nd/COD page before sending mail. Yes the button does 'send' data, it's not inaccurate, but nowadays I feel this function should be transparent to the majority of players who just want to play. It's too easy to see something like this for years, until we 'adopt' it, and start to forget our fellow players don't all have a coding background. What do you think? Perhaps people could please add their thoughts on this - and what they feel the button text should say in different circumstances, to help the Devs decide whether or not to make changes to the SEND buttons.

We were fortunate to find this Giant thanks to a tip I received of his whereabouts. It's been a while since we've seen a Forest Giant so I expect a good turnout. In case you don't know, the blood from a Forest Giant makes a woodcutting imbue, which will allow you to harvest higher quality wood. As a special treat for all you folks across the pond, we are making this one EU friendly. Because it's gonna be at a mid-day time for the US folks, I am going to release the location early, to allow people to AFK on the deed. As I said, there hasn't been a Forest Giant in a while, and I want to allow people to get the blood they desire. This slaying is being held at 8:00pm GMT this Friday Jan 7th (that is 3:00pm EST) The location is L-11 not far off the highway. If you route to Tavernia, there is a waystone about 150 tiles east (flag says Tavernia 146 or 148) Go north maybe 30 tiles from that waystone and you'll hit the deed. I also want to let people know that my team and I are available for private slays. If you find a dragon or hatchling and want a team to trap it for you and help you kill it, (or just sell it) then please contact me.

    Are you really suggesting that the world ignores gcg/ccab's game because they have no skin color variations? Can you prove it with a graph with countries coming into the website and leaving fast, angry reviews on steam about character customization etc.. Sure the game is lacking in this department, but way more serious, old and lacking parts of the game are way ahead to be priorities... Color pigmentation slider.. sure, who cares.. the few that bond with character.. will love to just go this or that variation to mimic RL or try something different. IMO it's hard to bond to a character that is all the same to the rest of the others... there's not that big variety of customizations we can do, no scars, tattoos or birthmarks of w/e kind.. there's barely any fashion to stand out.. some of it is still only gm reward unobtainable in any other way.. or once upon a time event reward.. there are a few new helmets and shields, weapon' skins, but in the end you're still the basic model and you go bald or not based on what hat you wear.

    Gold has a range boost. Power of cast increases range. I find traitor missions to be one of the two most absolute easiest missions, with trees being the other one. Whenever there is a traitor mission I am on it, unless it is on the other side of Indy.. and sometimes then.

    And thank your research and for your post confirming that I'm not hallucinating this! It seems that we have a very similar dyemaking process and experienced this in very similar ways - and it's especially maddening because only a small handful of wurmians make large quantities of dye on a regular basis would even notice this bug because it's just so subtle. The Five Stages of Dye Grief Stage 1 - Denial: Notice a bad batch of dye and think: "Huh, that's odd. I just have been sloppy with my sorting. I'll be more careful next time." Stage 2 - Anger: Being more careful with the dye sorting but not looking closely at every RGB value every single time: "I'm almost positive I was absolutely careful with every single dye unit!? All those materials wasted ARGH!" Stage 3 - Bargaining: Watching every single unit like a hawk: "If I pay really close attention, I'll see that it's not happening and everything will be fine. Wait a minute - that one was absolutely not fine." Stage 4 - Depression: Ask other players if they've noticed anything weird with dye and realize they have no idea what you're talking about and feel like you're losing your mind. Briefly consider never making dye again. Stage 5 - Acceptance: Finally make a forum post to determine that there is either some sort of bug at play or you have in fact lost your mind. I think we've just started a support group, Fraskesa.

    i do traitor missions for karma/sb and they're insanely easy, basically always find them in under 30 minutes unless they're on top of a mountain, you're aware litdark finds them from about a local away on 16x16 servers right

However you will find some players on the Discord that was started for the Santa's Reindeer server who mainly play on the Frenetia server. Here is a link that will get you in touch with players common to both Servers. Santa's Reindeer Challenge When you die your corpse will retain its inventory. The exception is your new player kit such as original pickaxe, etc. Unlike most servers we have corpse retrieval cost of zero Karma, so you may soon reclaim your inventory. Also, there are not many ways to die. For example, there is no drowning, just wait for stamina to rebuild in the water. Creatures do no attack you and there are no menus to attack them. Leaping off a mountain might do it! hehe No, we do not have a compass mod. Over some years Tamutnefret has worked on the server code directly and introduced many changes. We have a wish-list of changes of changes players would like. Let us know if you would like changes to compass behaviour. I do need to say that the wish-list is rather long I don't think we have any custom recipes. You would need to define what you mean by custom recipes. The existing list of recipes we have seems to me to be quite long. We do have the changes that were made to the old WO server years ago. For players to be able to make their own recipes sure is something I would like. Very happy to add that to the wish-list. At one stage our cooking was changed to take less time. Later in the year I will prepare a post to let readers know what is currently on the wish-list. There is no strict order of the wishes. If Tamutnefret sees a way to implement a wish whilst investigating code relating to other wishes, he makes the changes. Best regards from Pam

    +1 I too have hesitated with the "Send" option even knowing where it leads yet in my mind "Send" means send it out not continue to the next page. So yes changing it to "Continue" would be so much better. And yes new players are definitely confused by the "Send".

    Hello all. Just started playing. Is there an discord? I skimmed through this forum thread, but I don't think I saw a link. A few questions: When you die, do you drop your inventory? Do you have the compass mod? Think I can use it while playing on Geforcenow? Lastly, does this server have custom recipes? Its been years since I played, but last time I remember WO implementing a new cooking system and I was excited to get involved in that. But I'd rather do it on a WU server. Thanks!

    Update: Here is an example of the system at its worst: Receiving an item. How does the new player know that he is not sending the item back, when the accept button says "Send"? Just seen a player ask this very question in CA_Help today.

    The reason that I suggested deed increase rather than price reduction is that price reduction becomes more work the more offices there are. Changing the price of one office is already 10x the work that is involved in changing deed upkeep cost (for which I can just edit text documents without being in the game); changing the price of many offices (and potentially many more than currently exist) every month would burn me out. Having the storm island open for longer when there are more Stormguards would be fine with me. There's no difference to me in cost whether the servers are shut down or not.

    sounds like a bug.. didn't know you can ditch your deity, well in this case it's not very clear who left who...(you two will figure it) but yea.. imo it's ok... you just lost all favor.. and haven't switched faith.. this begs for a fix imo... and delay should trigger only when you pickup a faith, that way you can change any time.. and on change or picking up same deity.. at that moment when you are a follower again.. you have cooldown running.. harms nothing and clears this mess, while it stops as always the deity jumpers to grab global cast sleep bonus and skillgain bonuses

Players will notice a very welcome faster journey on each ship type on all the servers. It is particularly noticeable on the knarr ship which used to be painfully slow in most wind conditions. The trip ship has been tweaked to go slightly faster at higher qualities. At Q 90 it now travels as fast as the code supports.
