There's so many better and more constructive ways to say that especially considering this individual has pointed out several times that they have ASD. It takes almost zero effort to not be mean to people and takes minimal effort to respect others so we should probably do that. I get that not everyone may know about ASD in others but can't we just not be mean to people who are on the spectrum?

Good to see you back here. Hope you'll be able to last a bit longer as you did last time. I also hope that when you die - not if, because in this game death can't be avoided, even if it isn't permadeath - you don't see it as a failure, but more as something you will avoid in the future. In a way the saying: "What doesn't kill me, makes me stronger" does apply to this game, as it won't make your character stronger, but it certainly would make the player wiser and thus stronger. So I hope you will enjoy this new stay and more important, I hope you'll become an important part of this community over time. I'm quite certain you're up to both "tasks". Thorin

I have an Idea for a new Item that would make personal lanterns slightly more useful and provide a fun way to display them, Lantern Hooks it could maybe take one of each nail type and a ribbon to make or such and be attachable to a support beam or a wall it would be really nice and could give a nice look, I am thinking there should be an option to attach to either a ceiling or a wall what do you think?

The solution is easy, as I said before, hold more public slayings if you want more bloods. There does not need to be a new mechanic added when bloods are not broken. Change in behavior can and does happen all the time, the fact that you need the devs to FORCE the change of behavior because your not willing to make the change yourself speaks volumes to the motivation behind this. You can fix the problem yourself but like I said, you won't, and nor do I think you should have to, unless you truly want there to be more bloods. There are many people who hold public slayings, they don't need the game to force a behavior upon them. They have their own reasons for doing so, same as you have your reasons to hold private ones. The whole system needs a rework, this is not even a Band-Aid, your just pushing the problem down the road. Because the day will come soon that everyone has the bloods that they want but still no access to the scale/hide and they will still want that and we are back to square one again. If we are being honest here, it is always about the scale/hide. It is why there are such low turn outs to the humanoid slayings compared to dragons. You know this, everyone knows this, the issue as I can see it is that you are also hurting yourself by keeping such small amounts of blood private, making it take longer for everyone on your team to get the tools they want imbued. If it was only bloods that were rewarded all unique slayings would soon be like rifts, 20-30 people showing up and that is it. I understand you wanting something changed / fixed, this idea is one that I just cannot get behind when the tools are already there for you to fix this yourself, you simply choose not to.

Map updates are done by just one person, who's trying to do his best to keep things updated if he gets the required information. Just check the map thread about the frequency the one updating the map replies when new deeds are listed there. Deeds listed at the map while they aren't active anymore happen; just like you will run into deeds not showing up at the map at all. Main thing is that the former usually means the updater has missed the twitter feed; while the latter means the deed owner never posted it at the specific topic. As for why there are so many deed names related to a certain movie franchise; things like that happen. The moment a certain franchise got popular, players will name their main and alts after the main characters of that franchise and often do the same with their deeds. I've seen LotR deed names, GoT deed names and at least one from Tamriel (yours would be the 2nd if it shows up at the map). Regarding your encounter with other players; one of the "problems" this game has, is that it's using global servers. Meaning players from all over the world with different standards and habbits play at the same server, talk in the same channels and occasonally collide with other players. Another problem is that we got - unfortunately - some veteran trol....... Ehrm......... players who love to troll new players. They know exactly how far they can go before a staff member has to step in to mute them, making it very hard for the staff to deal with them (as in temporary or complete ban of said players); but quite often are trolling enough to make new players decide to either avoid certain chat channels or quit the game completely. It has happened to me as well that I've been in a situation like that and the only possible solution is to ignore that or those players. You can ignore them in two ways, being not replying to what they say at all, or using the actuall "ignore" command (ignore <playername> ) to block all conversation that person posts. This applies to all channels but CA-help and village / alliance chat. Disadvantage of the latter is you may miss out part of a conversation that player has with someone else. Fortunately there are more decent and good players as trolls, but as always, it's the vocal minority which gets the most attention. I'd advise you to just see which players are the "good" ones in your book and which aren't, have a good time with the former and simply ignore the latter. If you're able to do that, I'm certain you're going to have a great time in this game; as there's a lot to do, to discover and to enjoy in it. And to give you a hint about how things can be; there's an impalong starting at Xan pretty soon. If you're able to make it, you'll see some very good examples about how friendly, nice and helpful this community can be. Happy wurming! Thorin (No, not a LotR name. It's from The Hobbit. )

Ten months ago I died and I subsequently quit the game swearing to never come back. However, it seems that all those memes from GL-Freedom are actually true and one can never really quit playing Wurm, but just take a break, so here I am, ten months later returning to the game. Many things changed in my life during this time frame and I'm now in a much better place than I was back then, so I honestly hope this time I can find that balance to allow me to fully enjoy the game. And since I'm back I decided to once again start sharing my adventures in this wonderful realm. As before, I know they're not impressing in any way and that pretty much everyone playing this game seriously is waaaaay ahead of me, but I still want to do it in order to show other new and casual players, that are just starting out, that they too can find their way and have fun within the Wurm universe, even if they're time constrained and can't afford the luxury of spending hours after hours in an online game. So yeah. "I'm back. Did you miss me, bitches? -- A" Obviously the "bitches" part is just a joke / pop culture reference and I'm not actually calling you that. Also, I don't necessarily expect anyone to remember my short presence here, but more likely to just greet me with a "Sorry? Who do you say you are?". Still I found it a funny joke. But if it bothers you or you think it crosses a line, please let me know and I'll gladly remove the reference.

TL;DR: Too many concepts, too many connections - go slow. ❤️ Recently; i have done a lot of explaining of myself to several other Wurmians. an being as its not really showing any signs of stopping i figured i would create a post to put it all out there for anyone who wants to know but is afraid to ask. Keep in mind here that this is my REAL LIFE im talking about. my real world views an actions. However on that same note, not everyone here wants to know them, and um, well, some of you are NOT going to like what is written in the spoiler below. now its nothing bad, there is nothing wrong with it, however, what you do with the information contained within - it is on you. However, i never do anything without multiple reasons, and for those of you who are capable of accepting both good and bad consequences for your actions, regardless of if you intended to do so in the first place this is a HUGE THANK YOU: Wurm woke me up to the fact that i am a sentient and sapient creature, that i get to choose my own path in life. when i was at the lunalong last year their was a critical mass type event for me - everyone talking in GL kicked started an engine that had been unable to run at all. my physical body may have more issues then not, but that does not mean for one instant i cant be a 'Social' creature: Everyone deserves to survive succeed and stay safe. I just needed help getting there, so Thank you all for that.

With apologies to the Lunalong, That's right! Meadhalla 2 has rolled around! "but Stan didn't you say it was the last sunday of febr-" yes, yes I did. But here's what happened: Meadhalla was originally designed to go toe-to-toe with Blue Monday, a social event squaring off with "the most depressing day of the year." But it took me far too long, or the idea became a thing far too late, to get ready in time. Then, turns out, Blue Monday was invented to sell airline tickets. Yeah. So I'm putting this year's on one of the hardest times of the year for me personally, and many others who are so Seasonally Affected. Yes, I'm fully aware of a multitude of studies that pin early summer as "most depressing" but I feel those studies have too narrow a focus. I'd say more to slag them off, but then I'd have to post a content warning so that's not going here. Also I got 100 Channeling so this doubles as my celebration of that. For those who missed the last Meadhalla, it's a social event on the Southern Freedom Isles that lasts a few hours. By social event, I mean no prizes of value, no imping. We're there to chat, play silly games and whatever else our whimsical hearts desire (if your heart desires imping, then there's no stopping you). Last year I asked you to bring Cheesy Puns and items for a Show-And-Tell. This year is a little different. First, I'd like you to bring headgear dyed your favourite colour. Cloth hood is recommended, great helmet works too, no restrictions here so if you find something that works better, strut it! If you're taking part in the Team Game listed below, I'd also ask you go for your team's colour. Maybe bring a spare if your team doesn't make it and you want to flaunt another colour. Second, I'm going to ask for one of two things. Either one, you donate to a mental health charity of choice. Personally, I'm going to recommend either the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or Papyrus UK. If you can't, or simply don't want to donate to them, then instead I ask this: reach out to someone you know. Ideally, someone you haven't talked to in a while. Talk to them, ask them how they're doing and really listen to their answer. None of this will ever be checked or even asked about, so I'm working on the honour system here. Last year's obstacle course is still there. Old mead has been mixed with new mead to preserve flavour. Pheasant pen is there for those who want the "catapult a creature" journal task, as well as many other things featured last year. My optical illusion as featured on Creative Constructs is there, but keep in mind light sources do break the illusion. And now, for this year's main event: FABRICANT! 🦈 Long have you doled out MIRTH and JOY with your task-masteries! NO LONGER says I! I have stolen your FORMAT! I have stolen your ASSISTANT! I have stolen your TASK-MASTERY CHAIR! And if you want ANY HOPE of getting them back, You will assemble a team with TWO of your friends and, You will take part, and win, the STAN-LED TASKMASTER GAME! But you - yes you, dear reader, can also take part! Simply fill out the form below and be entered to TAKE PART! We'll probably have a team elimination if there's too many so look forward to that too. But know this! Your team must: 1. Have three people. No more, no less, three is the number of counting. 2. Have a Team Leader. They are who you will look to. Your Team Leader must be willing and able to use Discord and its Voice Chat 3. Have a team colour, ideally one no other team is using! 4. Bring at least 0.5kg of your team colour's dye. This will only be taken from teams who make it to Taskmaster. 5. Fill out the form below (remove the Example) and post it in this thread And your team will be Entered for the EVENT! Edit: On the day, it would be wise to take a full complement of tools. Note that is is not the only event at Meadhalla, and those who do not wish to take part or are not part of a team are more than welcome, there'll be other things going on there too! Team application form All this and, would you believe it - more, at Meadhalla, J10 Release. 18th of December. We're on the highway network!

why the need to be merge PvP path with Freedom path? Why make PvP players change there freedom path? I don't really agree with any path even giving a slight PvP increase and then making you have a pointless path on freedom to increase your PvP chances.... another way to encourage freedomers to not want to go to PvP imo

I can say that I started playing "intuitively", and hardly stopped to do so until the mining imbue and rune nerf. Only then I cared to get to skill 99.86 and beyond as far as I could to regain what a stupid nerf had taken away from me. When I say "playing intuitively", it means just doing what seems necessary or desirable without caring for max stats. Of course I "grinded" ever and again to achieve some goals, such as getting better in cloth tailoring for the sails of my knarrs and caravel, being able to imp my own weapons to ql70 at minimum, in general to be as independent as possible. For the first two years, I sold all my sleep powder on the player market and did not look a lot for enchants other than e.g. life transfer, and some wind of ages on some tools. After participating in impalongs I started to use them bit more. I never felt restricted, particularly as I never felt engaged in a competition to be first or so at high levels. That is just possible, and moreover, relaxing. Not that I hadn't and have ambitious projects. And I learnt after some time to use enchants, to use game mechanics like timers etc. That made much easier everywhere above skill 70, even more around and above skill 90. But reaching such levels systematically is not intuitive playing anymore.
  26. 1 point
Tough one to actually answer really. I've always been 'player A' and played intuitively for 8 years now, and yet I have some skills to over 90 at least without grinding them and including breaks from playing. I am close to 99 on some, but trying to force myself to 'grind' one of those for the journal for example is something I keep putting off because I really do hate grinding (other than a bit for helping at impalongs maybe). I do use some things like Wiki of course, Wurm Assistant, especially Granger, and maybe an online recipe maker for affinity meals, but that's about it. I assume those who use all the tools and grind like mad get the skills up faster, just seems logical, but for me a game is fun and relaxation, and math and spreadsheets etc is not that (for me) To borrow a hashtag an ally recently created #Never 100!

Nice, but on the sword being wielded the cross-guard looks like that on the Jackal Zweihander skin rather than the new skin shown on the separately rendered sword.

I don't think anyone in this thread (or the dozens of other threads) has argued that uniques are perfect and don't need any changes. The unique system is broken and needs a fix, but this just isn't the fix it needs. All this will do is allow for more bloods to be on the market, that is providing that private groups even make the slayings public. Would you be fighting so hard on this issue if you weren't in a private group? And like I said previously, if private groups really cared about there being more bloods, then ever single humanoid would be public (not just on NFI but SFI as well)

I get the point that is trying to be made with this suggestion, but I think it comes across as being more greedy then ever. It sounds like to some people that I've talked to that the private teams want more blood but not give up the real profit involved. If the goal was to just have more bloods, the fix is simple, just have more public slayings. As it seems this private team wants to keep the real rewards private but benefit from the bloods that would flood the market. I hope you can see how this can be perceived as being greedy, especially by those that are against private teams to begin with. It does not help that it also appears that most those that are for this system are members of the most well known private team on NFI, including yourself Zuelatak, which at last look this team has killed near 50 uniques in 1 year. Yes the public would benefit from there being more blood, but you want the best of both worlds. This does not seem like a fix to me, as the goal is to just flood the market with cheep bloods, not to actually make the content accessible to more players. Let me state that I am fine with there being private teams, as it is the way the game is set up right now. I do think that there should be a rework of the system and that the game/community would benefit from a system that that would get more people involved with any kind of content that is considered "end game". You state that this suggestion will address a large factor of the private slayings, by letting there be more bloods. But this does not need fixing, as it is an issue that is caused by the very team that is making this suggestion. The solution is already there, make the slayings public, stop holding private slayings. But you won't do that as the profit for holding them private is to great. Keeping the profit to a select group of people while trying to flood the market with more blood that the same group of people will then benefit from, under the guise of doing it for the betterment of the public...comes across as a pretty slimy thing to do. After thinking about this some more...this suggestion is asking the dev team to add something to the game that will directly benefit those on the private teams. A very small and select group of people, and you want the devs to take time out to set something up to help you keep a hold on the profit of slayings while at the same time get the blood that the very teams create the shortage of.....

majority of uniques are killed in small groups, this is not a personal lan server.. the game needs events for everybody, not purse focused groups stealing events from the majority, alts are another problem.. premium is premium.. if somebody wants to get more - let them, they pay just the same.. just make events that let people participate.. level the rewards by caused damage or w/e do or dont nerf some of that if some buff on spells etc as certain casts will improve hit and damage, lower rewards for alts that literally do nothing, but still they are paid premiums so.. give something to everyone.... reward the people actually doing something.. and rework the event into something everybody can participate rather than keeping the small group nonsense for few more years, every year it's the same.. tens of threads opened with same issue over and over again and nobody learning from it

Yes!! Before I priested any of my priests they could ride a horse, load cargo, defend themselves, make a million bricks and mortar. My Mag is currently building a colossus, after making all the bricks for it. When that is done my Vyn will build one. I didn't do any of hte nature skills on them, although they are great skills for priests. Pretty much priests can't imp. They can't imp, but they can cast. Seems like a fair trade off to me. Oh, and the one penalty each one has (digging, mining, cutting trees). Yea, this is where choices come in. A priest that could do it all would be way overpowered.

If you want to keep going with Wurm but with the idea of a perma-death run... You can always make an alt and a new run, using your current deed and possesion as bonuses from the previous round. Rogue-lites allows it... most rogue type game have a similar feature... feel free to do the same... or just stick to the game with your current character and respawn already! PS. Each death takes a toll on your skills... which is the penality imposed to you by the game and devs... There is no easy mode in wurm

I'm pretty sure the devs have a sense of humor. I was recently blessed with a mule named "Pinata." Appropriately enough, one of its traits is "It looks very unmotivated," so I guess I'll be smacking it with a stick until it produces candy.
