As has been said, it's easy to focus on the worst possible interpretation of how the rules might be applied. The rules are (mostly) non-specific by design, as we expect all our moderators to apply judgement in every situation; the alternative would be a massive mess of really specific rules that would never cover every possible eventuality, would be a nightmare to read or maintain, and the people whose behaviour they're designed to prevent would be constantly picking loopholes anyway. To deal with the fact that sometimes interpretations of exactly how a rule applies or not may be subjective, every moderation team has an appeal and review process. In general, if a moderation action is unclear or you feel it's unwarranted, you can contact the moderator involved, or you can appeal it to the head of that department - see the Wurm staff post here https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/4976-wurm-online-staff/ for current leads. As a general rule, unless your behaviour is completely egregious, you will be first asked to modify your behaviour. Sometimes people simply didn't see something as offensive, or there are cultural differences, or whatever. This could be a chat moderator asking for a change in topic, or it could be a PM from a forum moderator. Formal sanctions generally follow where the behaviour involved is repeated, in spite of moderator involvement, or where reaction to moderation has been combative, offensive, or otherwise obstructive. If you've been asked not to do something by someone in a position of authority, and you continue to do it, I'm honestly not sure what you expect the result to be, other than formal sanction. I am not going to get into strawman arguments about ridiculously contrived examples. Wurm, and its various official associated communications channels, are made available contingent on participants being able to follow the stated rules, or where necessary, to obey moderators' directions (and the vast majority of people using these systems have no problem doing so). If you are unable or unwilling to do that, then you have no place here - there are, no doubt, plenty of places outside the official Wurm space with policies that would better suit. Disagreeing with a ruling does not remove the requirement that you follow it. If you are unsure about something, there are plenty of options to ask someone, and most of them don't involve posting publicly - while staff are not going to get into an endless circular argument about a particular event or point, they should always respond to a polite query (or at least, tell you where the query should be directed to).

I'd like to be able to mill sandstone to sand, to be used for terraforming, as the only current uses for sandstone are construction and paving.

This isn't a suggestion for the developers, but for the user base (the people who actually read these posts) The idea is for any players who are interested to form groups that will find locations where abandoned deeds, rift battles, or imp-alongs have left unnatural scars on the land, and tidy them up. How to do so: (this could be partial or complete, to give the impression of natural weathering and decay — or to remove things altogether) removing the paving on roads, house sites, and paved slopes smoothing out the edges of level areas destroying any remaining furniture such as storage bins, looms, beds. With some experienced and skilled players, (plus less experienced but equally willing helpers), this work could be done in good time, and possibly people would have a fun get together too?

I am just curious as to what was the point of the partnership with that esports company then? Samool said that it was done for this contest So where were they in this? And while its understandable that you had RL issues, but for any other product that we pay for, there are replacement persons and plan Bs for this sort of scenario and one person isn’t expected to do everything in case something happens to them. Which it did. So yes, the dev and management team IS RESPONSIBLE for not planning it out better and having no alternative replacements for over two months to carry this out with. For any other paid product, a secondary person would have publicly come out by now and carried the contest on, while apologising for your absence.

Please make adventuring on Freedom more exciting by adding the rare encounter with a son of no gump, or eagle spirit, or drake spirit, or spawn of uttacha, etc. This was one of my favorite things about living in the epic cluster as a mostly carebear style player. Let them trigger on a pendulum that can find legendary creatures. Would add another dynamic to unique hunting, as you'd need to handle the valrei creatures attracting your pendulum before knowing if a dragon is just a bit further.

I love my VR heaset. I've done some work-arounds before to try it out in Wurm, and while not having native support damaged the experience a bit, I found it to be quite awesome to actually walk around my deed in VR and feel like I'm really there. It was a fantastic experience, and VR in Wurm is something I would very much like to have. That said, I've been bumping my bug report on the bug forum for literally YEARS and even when a dev told me a long time ago it was being worked on, it was never fixed. I was also very against the AH changes BEFORE they happened, and while lots of people argued with me that it was going to be great and sorely needed, I maintained that there are both far more important priorities for dev time, and that I lacked confidence that the changes would be better than what we already had. I'm not trying to say I told you so (though, I mean, I totally did), just want to say that while I absolutely love Wurm and still pour hundreds of my hard earned dollars into the game, please start listening to your own freaking players. WE are the ones opening our wallet and giving you money. WHY DO YOU REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE PAYING YOU???? VR? Yeah, would be great, but no. Spend some time fixing issues and addressing the concerns of your paying customers, THEN implement the gimmick that will cause the small financial bump before the numbers revert to normal. If you don't, your gimmick might LOSE you players/money in the longer term as player confidence is fading quickly. I apologize if my frustration is starting to show. EDITED TO ADD: I also want to point out that as someone who started this game on the Epic Cluster, I was there when a badly considered change was implemented despite the ACTUAL PLAYERS ON EPIC all telling you it was a terrible idea, and now my home cluster is a dead wasteland. I want to point out that DESPITE my home server and my home and my friends ALL being eliminated due to badly thought out changes and failure to listen to the players, I am STILL here and giving you my money. Please stop making me feel like a sucker, or like I'm in an abusive relationship just waiting for the abuser to finally change and stop abusing me. Listen to your own freaking players.

Plan B doesnt exist in Wurm, not Demona`s fault but to have a contest ended and hanging in the air for a couple of months is not good, same with updates, where other devs normally use the days after to fix bugs etc, wurm just leave a broken update for months, some for years. im on now to pack everything away and get ready for a longer break(permament if things not getting better) As a paying costumer i just cant accept this anymore.

I know you post the skins and thx for that, very much appreciated actually, even was a request from me in an other topic - thank you for listening . Does not change the fact though that it should not be you posting an appology, but maybe Samool should have included in that statement the progress, or lack of that and reason(s). I am responsible for a very busy stockroom/warehouse rl. I've lost my dad, had other colleagues with covid, others again having to isolate due to other members in their homes. All that does not change the fact that the warehouse still have to operate on a daily basis. If that means i have to hand over responsibility to someone else, call in other colleagues, ask for a colleague to stay back another hour or 2 if possible, so be it. Or something totally different... but.... none of those options include silence, none of those options include leaving the communication to a newly recruited Community Manager. No digging at you Demona quite the opposite, without You we'd probably not even know if that competition was even going to be honoured

*** WORK IN PROGRESS. I WILL UPDATE THIS POST REGULARLY. *** INTRODUCTION Hello Wurmians, Thicket and I, are proud to invite everyone to the 2nd New Festival Cove Halloween Haunted House Impalong on the Independence world. An Impalong is a community event where Crafters (Impers) and Priests from all over Wurm come together to Improve and Enchant player tools for Free. We all spread the LOVE around in order to improve game experience and knowledge for everyone, so whether you are young or old, this is a type of event to attend! Let me remind everyone that in order to get here, many players dedicated their time and/or items for free in order to help create this incredible event! This event will be held from: Friday, October 22 9:00 AM Central Time USA (GMT -5) - Monday, October 25th 9:00 PM Central Time USA (GMT -5). If there's items remaining (after October 25th) to be Improved (imped), we will work on them through the Halloween weekend, but our intention is to make this event short-n-sweet: Get in, Get it done, and Get out. NEW FESTIVAL COVE New Festival Cove is located at O16 on the Independence map of the Freedom Isles servers. If you use Albia Maps [ https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EbliOmfbWcK1zhD4t4iYU-Dc18eEr7ZB/edit ], New Festival Cove is located at 30x 44y. Our website is located at: https://NewFestivalCove.com For older players, New Festival Cove is located where Festival Cove was located - the location of one of Wurm's first Impalongs. When I first arrived on the shores of Festival Cove 3.5 years ago, it was abandoned and decayed; but I admit, it was the seven Collosus Statues that caught my eye! After some research, I learned this site was a very special place, so I took it upon myself to return this area back to its former glory, and throw in some special extras along the way. I know many players remember this area, so this is my salute to you! If you attended last year's firework event, I gave a speech at the end where we would be building a Collosus Statue of Libila for 2021. We've completed that! We're shortening this year's event to a 4-day event. Last year, five days was too exhausting for me, but I believe everyone can get the imping completed within 4 days. DISCORD During the event, we will be using this Discord Channel: https://discord.gg/dAhEQ5UPVH MAPS SCREENSHOT SPOILER RULES EVENT SCHEDULE ROOM RESERVATIONS STAFF If you need something during the event, contact one of these staff members: IMPALONG IMPERS We're looking for individuals interested in helping out with the improving items (imping) process. If you are interested, please reply in this Forum post with your Character Name in-game and Skills (above 70) please. Our current Imper list will be updated regularly, but for now it looks like this: PRIESTS FOR ENCHANTING AND SERMONS We need Priests of various religions, such as the Whitelighters (Fo, Magranon, Vynora) and the Blacklighters (Libila). We also need said Priests to spread their word (via Sermons), and we need Priests to Enchant items for everyone for Free. If you are interested, please reply in this Forum post with your Character Name in-game and Channeling Skill (above 70) please. CURRENT INVENTORY Our current inventory and inventory needs for the event looks like this. Click on the pic below to enlarge it: Favor is the #1 thing we're lacking and we're focused on getting over the next 3 months. SPECIAL FEATURES In addition to hosting an Impalong, we've thrown in several fun sight-seeing adventures, such as: - Haunted House like you've never seen before in this game - this is a MUST SEE event; - Chessboard (we've reimagined the chessboard at the same location in 2012, by adding new chess pieces and adding two cool Overlooks to oversee a game); - Shipwreck (with a short story); - Rose's Hedgemaze (with a golden treasure at the end); - Dye floor (2nd floor of the SW imping building), so you can play with various colors. - Cooking floor (practice your cooking or learn some new recipes while you're here). DONATIONS If you would like to donate, you can PM and/or mail it to Vooch. You can also send items to Vooch via Wagoneer Berkshire at New Festival Cove. If I'm missing donations, please let me know so you get mentioned properly. These are the donations this year: PRIZES This is who got loot. If I'm missing something please let me know: CONCLUSION Wurm is waiting... Are you ready?

I'm back to fix a mistake I made a long time ago. What used to be Blackflame island I turned into an unsightly monstrosity and I cannot stand it any longer. I am going to fix this whole area. This will be done in stages to minimalize impact on the highway system. The big dirt pile of an island will be removed and dredged back to it's original depth. The old wooden bridge will eventually be bashed down and dirt pylons removed. Blackflame island, while won't be original, will be remade. Finally the current marble bridge will be extended and most likely will pass through the island and then reconnect to the mainland, I don't have a timeline on this project as I juggle life, family, and work, but I do promise it'll get done. As of this post I've already reclaimed 9000 of the estimated 150,000 dirt I dropped years ago expanding the area. Thanks for your understanding.

is it April fools again?.... A for effort, F for thought process, Not one of the "suggestions" Has had its full effects evaluated. Hell when Enki joked about something like this years ago it was far more fleshed out and considered even as a joke. As many of the reasons have already been stated I'll just say this is not well considered, wurm is already hard enough. Also I don't appreciate the critical attitude of peoples generous hosting of events, If you had any brains at all you would realize Hosting things like Impalongs takes an incredible amount of time, effort, and resources that don't just magically appear and take a long time to collect and organize, as there is a holiday every month is easy to says "oh its a holiday things." Btw reading the first paragraph of my events would clearly indicate no holiday is ever involved. I am both a extensive merchant and a host of such events, the excess MONEY I make from you guys has always and even before the ban of RMT gone back into my annual event. Making this process harder if anything, further limits the amount of coin that flows thru to the event, and is more likely lost in the various coin sinks in game in the form of additional time etc... If you want to get rich quick, head to the shop and buy some coin. If you want to earn it, earn it like everyone else, get some skills and enter the player driven economy. Wurm is a game of commitment and time there is no get rich quick.

That’s not during the holidays lol. They are periodically throughout the year. And there is more then what I just sent. Why do you refuse to look at Wurm for its entirety?

Could use some polishing, but i like the general concept : ) +1 Not sure what you mean by botting, botting is bannable. If you mean multiaccounting, as i said in other threads, that's true for a lot of different activities, this wouldn't worsen the problem.

Generally spoken, -1. I consider all the ravings about the "thriving economy" in NFI by migrated WO veterans disgusting and sanctimonious. In fact, those players were the ones who immediately grabbed the opportunity, leveled up hundred times faster than a normal beginner, and dominated "the market". I am sure all available rarity exploits have been diligently used and abused on NFI where the prices for those were ten times higher. What are such veterans fearing from a merge? Competition and loss of monopoly. Sorry, f* the "economy". I can say that I possess a couple of rares, no supreme, no fantastic, and all except a rare hammer I got as a giveaway (Emoo or Madnath, not sure) rared by me, mainly by imping, in one case from archaeology, and one rare staff from a recent slaying as a prize. That other may have stacks of rares and supremes, especially when playing since long time, never did bother me, and there were no such bottom low prices seducing me to buy them. Why should non carpetbagger Northerners be denied the chance? Honestly, I had a look at the techniques to "mass produce" rares, and found them too boring to try. But I fear that those smart nerfs will impair my ability to get hold on or gain rares in the future. Btw. the myth about the shrinking population does not become true by saying it three times (or more often).

If you look back, you can see a lot of threads over the years of people (including myself) suggesting a cosmetic shop would open in Wurm.. With the idea that the extra influx of cash would help Wurm development. Pretty clear this hasn't been the case. I imagine every cent now goes to GCG who love this current business model of having volunteers develop their game while they only pay a few staff and server costs. We also thought the steam release would bring in quite a lot of cash for wurm development. We also thought the WU release would bring in resources for WO development. With that train of thought....even if VR is somehow an astounding success and brings in high paying customers...will that money actually go to developing content and fixing bugs? Comes a point where you can't break a pattern without acknowledging there's a problem somewhere. Personally I regret I don't have a few million euros around to just buy this game, keep it afloat long enough to develop Wurm 2.0 and migrate people and their skills to new improved lands.

Not a single line in the original post was committal. Read the language carefully. Does pending mean it's locked in? Or does it mean that it could potentially be changed and removed from the update? Planning to release, not going to release. Update might not happen this month. Looking at getting, not getting. There's no assurance that a new community manager will be coming and that communication issues will be resolved. Try to keep you updated. Not going to keep you all updated. This is the only committed language in the post. VR starting development is the only statement that carries weight. Everything else is just well crafted hot air.

Ease of use comes first. You build depth on top of easy to use features. If you do it in the reverse, you end up with a complex system that only a select few understand, ending up "niche" in style. In the case of Wurm, many features are built with significant depth, but are difficult to use. Combat is a great example of this, where there are so many micromechanics and calculations that determine the result of a battle. Instead, what we end up with is people standing in front of a creature because actually managing those micromechanics is too tedious or unrewarding to make it worthwhile. Present a clean foundation, then build on it. Don't build on a haphazard foundation. You wouldn't build a deed without terraforming first. The same should happen for features in the game. Terraform, then build.

I also just want to say less rng. RNG is not depth, it's a shallow attempt at replay value. The thing I like about depth in this game is that if you want to put a thousand hours into something, you'll get a thousand hours of results. RNG means you can put in a thousand hours of work and get nothing, or one hour and get those results.

First off, my regrets to any staff that have suffered a loss or are going through difficult times. One of my own friends just passed away a few days ago. It frankly sucks. The last few months, I've been very hit and miss in my duties as an alliance member, rarely showing up and filling my allies with concern that I may not return. I don't always give them details on what is going on with my schedule and that leaves them pretty clueless as to my future. However, they aren't paying me to be there and my obligation is just as a personal friendship - which is actually pretty important to me. But still, I really don't have an obligation to keep my allies informed. I do log in from time to time and say hello, buy random deeds, etc, because I want them to know I haven't left. I like them all very much. Wurm employees on the other hand have a very real responsibility to keep the community informed. Information delivered sooner is almost always better than later. If we knew communications were going on standby right after horse update, it would have been better than what we all just experienced. Not really a hindsight thing here either. Just common sense. We all know how mad our parents would get when we tried to hide a bad report card, right? So I hope Wurm staff gets through all the RL troubles and irons out a plan to keep information flowing to one of the most loyal communities in MMO history. Heck, even when I am not playing actively, I am generally on the forums daily, checking for any interesting updates, which might be exciting enough for me to prem 24 more months on 15 alts, because that is how Wurm is played, right? Thank you Keenan for this update and keep them coming please!

I miss you. You were delightful. When I started, I got myself into the stupidest damned predicaments, and you stayed on chat with me once for 3.5 hours helping me sort something out. You were incredibly patient and brilliant. When you'd spout off with ludicrously funny inappropriate comments in general chat, a part of me was always cheering, and I don't like trolls. You were like Winnie the Pooh who dipped into the wrong jar looking for honey, finding moonshine instead, and losing all filters before just saying whatever came to mind. But you would still stop everything to help a friend, and there wasn't much you didn't know about the game and how computers work. Your kindness was endless. I smiled whenever I saw you were online. I will smile whenever I think of you and be grateful that I was there in a world where Waarokku was, even if it was just a digital world we all made together. It's more beautiful because you were in it.

Big disagree on some aspects of that fragment idea, but there's some kernels of "ooh that could be good" in there. I strongly believe that no part of searching for uniques should be doable from the deed, its perimeter, or anywhere else really familiar. No farming, and sure as heck no praying. But it does present some very interesting thoughts. Namely, if a group (effectively) assembling and killing a unique is no impairment on your own quest to get one, surely that would lower toxicity. Those words alone got me thinking about Realistic Conflict Theory, which almost perfectly maps onto our own situation: A conflict for limited resources (unique spawns) causes ingroups and outgroups to get hostile (the current ugly situation, the constant hackusations). If some sort of fragment system were adopted, in such a way that one person getting fragments doesn't deprive another, and integrated into something that gets people out their deeds (say, the exploration update), that would solve the "limited resources" part of it. No doubt this would be met sceptically, since balancing self-driven unique spawns to not be too frequent would be difficult indeed. But Realistic Conflict Theory does present another way to lower hostility between groups: Superordinate Goals. This would mean somehow making dragons require whole scores of people to find, so that people would almost be required to interact between groups. How you'd accomplish this without making alts bypass it is completely beyond me, however. At this point every epic server has every possible unique alive on every island. It's less luck when there's that many
