Just rolled first part of Granger WA update. This is the "minimal" update I've promised. It took so long because I've had to think through, if those changes will be compatible with remaining work. What's in? * All new known traits have been added and can be smilexamined * Default breeding advisor values for all traits have been set to zero (up to you folks to set how you like!) * Many of the no longer needed features removed: - Detecting traits invisible at current AH level (because most traits have no exact numbers known so far) - Detecting if horse is from Epic (it was only needed for detecting invisible traits) - Validating parents during smilexamine (caused weird issues and wasn't very useful) - Validating traits mismatch during smilexamine (same reason as above + unknown AH visibility for most new traits) - Skipping trait update if inspect AH skill lower than previous scan (it was unintuitive, app shouldn't try to be smarter than it's master) - Specific handling for genesis cast (simple smilexamine update does this now under all cases) - Displaying potential traits (since AH visibility unknown for most traits and wasn't very useful) - Calculating potential value by breeding advisor (due to above and because advisor needs to be adapted to new rules). * The beer button is back * The bugs are likely, if you spot any, do not hesitate to contact me! About making use of current breeding advisor. One recommended earlier way is to create couple value presets, each scoring high for traits of different category. Once such preset is activated, Granger will suggest matching creatures containing multiple such traits. To prefer horses with less negative traits, all such presets can contain negative scores for negative traits. What's next: * New breeding advisor, with simple rules so no value presets need to be set manually and also including trait scoring caps. It will be updated together with Wurm updates to whole husbandry system. * Good display for trait category (currently it's not even displayed anywhere). * Many other earlier suggested changes to Granger. * Some more critical updates to other features. * And a sheepment of beer!

I have been imping people's vehicles and mining 80+ lumps for the alliance since a friend keeps uping my premium xD. we went from seeing 10-20 people during peak hours for the alliance to 3-5. I culled most of my adult horses and i got the very few decent ones born cared for I still breed the lottery in an attempt to get a 4 draft female I can care for if they ever fix this mess. I gave up on the bison every bad result was making me really upset. Hell I log in upset with the expectation of everything being worse.. I log out resenting the development team. Its exhausting being in this holding pattern and its not healthy. This is hellishly similar to how I felt working retail. so I'll log in to help those still playing with supplies or imps but otherwise I am not playing I am basicly working. I am going to miss the people I play with but not enough to be regularly this upset. I play games to relax and have fun. and nothing about wurm since this patch fits either of those categories. Hell if you reread the patch threads they start out excited and curious everyone was. However the longer this goes the more negative the forums seem to be getting as a whole. its depressing. right now I am leveling all my crafting jobs in ff14 on my main. its a lot more rewarding and there is 50-100 people on in the free company at any given time. I am moving rares and what not off to the alts in wurm the deed has a year upkeep before I have to care about it. I worry that the parent company is going to right this off as a loss for taxes and call it a day and close out the servers. I couldn't even blame them as at this point even if they reverted the patch or fixed most of the problems they are going to get yelled at either way. and if they truly are volunteer ( I could have swore they mentioned actually hiring a paid dev when the steam launch happened) they have no reason to stick around with a player base angry enough at this point to get question everything that will be changed or not changed. and if they are not getting paid well they shouldn't have to deal with the yelling. o/ I'll still be around checking to see if we get news. Happy wurming to those of you who got through this patch mostly unscathed. I am jealous- but also glad that at least some people are still enjoying things. that said those of you who keep asking for updates like exploration or reworks of other systems. be careful what you ask for. Almost all of us asking for an AH update are dealing with " no not like this" over getting it. the monkey paw still has fingers. Take care when wishing. --- edit: I can not delete my posts so most got edited out. Consider this my open letter. I will no longer participate in or continue to provide, money, testing, any discussion inside or outside of the game or feedback, I will no longer further involve myself in this game full stop. Good hunting P.S. I reiterate: the monkey paw still has fingers. Take care when wishing.

I know several people, some of whom were not even breeders, for whom this was the last straw and the reason they are now quiet here is due to them no longer playing. I watched in trade last night people giving away all their stock as they had given up waiting for a fix, don't know if that was them in the process of giving up on playing. Today's results confirmed it for me, with over 80% of animals producing worse offspring than both parents, I have given up. Culling most of the animals born just left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Began the sad act of mothballing my 4 deeds in the hope that there will be some action at some point. Could only take so much of it though, found it really depressing to be in this place with this game. This entire update was done so poorly, and with so little thought to the repercussions of what they were doing (or perhaps the complete indifference to how it would affect people who had spent months, if not years in establishing breeding lines). Will do a bit more each day for the next couple of days to get everything into bare maintenance mode. Harmony chat the last few times I've been on has been silent for hour and hours at a time... to think where this server was just 12 months ago, and to see it now, a very sad indictment on a wasted opportunity, and I think the poor communication with players is in many ways responsible. Off to give No Man's Sky another go, it started off being less than expected, and according to many is now delivering on it's promises. Wurm sadly seems to be going in the exact opposite direction, each update has delivered worse gameplay, more bugs (many of which never get rectified) and increasingly stale content.

Summary of some things that might surprise veteran users: Granger no longer prevents updating traits when inspection AH skill is lower than recorded value. This may be important when using low-skill alts... but in practice I don't think anyone ever needed that. Invisible traits (those visible only to higher level AH) are no longer highlighted. It could work for some better known traits, but since these are minority, I've decided to drop this altogether to simplify the app and avoid confusion. You have to set breeding advisor values (edit presets) manually now. If you've never used these, then first copy default scheme and then set values as you like. Can create multiple schemes. Granger may run a bit slower than it used to. But if you notice major decrease in performance, be sure to let me know. A video and computer spec would help a lot!

In the spirit of the recent wave of suggestions: <Sarcasm> Fatigue should be more punishing. If you can play more hours per day than me, your horses should die. If you are an older player than me, your fatigue should drop faster, depending on the age of the account. This would bring in more players, guaranteed 100% #trustme. Once you run out of fatigue, you could buy replenishment packs from the shop but to make it fair, they should replenish a random amount of fatigue. </Sarcasm> In all seriousness, i never understood this anti-macro solution or the shuffling of inventory items order. Both can be easily circumvented by those who care but negatively affect those who simply can and want to play honestly. With 100% creation chance on most bulk materials which would be the most teasing thing to automate (which i assume was the whole reason behind implementing fatigue to begin with) it stops no one to alt-spam the same materials on 5 toons while another 10 are sleeping it off and rotate the workforce. Ps. sorry i didn't fit more -should- in there, i did my best. I'm still learning.

*** WORK IN PROGRESS. I WILL UPDATE THIS POST REGULARLY. *** INTRODUCTION Hello Wurmians, Thicket and I, are proud to invite everyone to the 2nd New Festival Cove Halloween Haunted House Impalong on the Independence world. An Impalong is a community event where Crafters (Impers) and Priests from all over Wurm come together to Improve and Enchant player tools for Free. We all spread the LOVE around in order to improve game experience and knowledge for everyone, so whether you are young or old, this is a type of event to attend! Let me remind everyone that in order to get here, many players dedicated their time and/or items for free in order to help create this incredible event! This event will be held from: Friday, October 22 9:00 AM Central Time USA (GMT -5) - Monday, October 25th 9:00 PM Central Time USA (GMT -5). If there's items remaining (after October 25th) to be Improved (imped), we will work on them through the Halloween weekend, but our intention is to make this event short-n-sweet: Get in, Get it done, and Get out. NEW FESTIVAL COVE New Festival Cove is located at O16 on the Independence map of the Freedom Isles servers. If you use Albia Maps [ https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EbliOmfbWcK1zhD4t4iYU-Dc18eEr7ZB/edit ], New Festival Cove is located at 30x 44y. Our website is located at: https://NewFestivalCove.com For older players, New Festival Cove is located where Festival Cove was located - the location of one of Wurm's first Impalongs. When I first arrived on the shores of Festival Cove 3.5 years ago, it was abandoned and decayed; but I admit, it was the seven Collosus Statues that caught my eye! After some research, I learned this site was a very special place, so I took it upon myself to return this area back to its former glory, and throw in some special extras along the way. I know many players remember this area, so this is my salute to you! If you attended last year's firework event, I gave a speech at the end where we would be building a Collosus Statue of Libila for 2021. We've completed that! We're shortening this year's event to a 4-day event. Last year, five days was too exhausting for me, but I believe everyone can get the imping completed within 4 days. DISCORD During the event, we will be using this Discord Channel: https://discord.gg/dAhEQ5UPVH MAPS SCREENSHOT SPOILER RULES EVENT SCHEDULE ROOM RESERVATIONS STAFF If you need something during the event, contact one of these staff members: IMPALONG IMPERS We're looking for individuals interested in helping out with the improving items (imping) process. If you are interested, please reply in this Forum post with your Character Name in-game and Skills (above 70) please. Our current Imper list will be updated regularly, but for now it looks like this: PRIESTS FOR ENCHANTING AND SERMONS We need Priests of various religions, such as the Whitelighters (Fo, Magranon, Vynora) and the Blacklighters (Libila). We also need said Priests to spread their word (via Sermons), and we need Priests to Enchant items for everyone for Free. If you are interested, please reply in this Forum post with your Character Name in-game and Channeling Skill (above 70) please. CURRENT INVENTORY Our current inventory and inventory needs for the event looks like this. Click on the pic below to enlarge it: Favor is the #1 thing we're lacking and we're focused on getting over the next 3 months. SPECIAL FEATURES In addition to hosting an Impalong, we've thrown in several fun sight-seeing adventures, such as: - Haunted House like you've never seen before in this game - this is a MUST SEE event; - Chessboard (we've reimagined the chessboard at the same location in 2012, by adding new chess pieces and adding two cool Overlooks to oversee a game); - Shipwreck (with a short story); - Rose's Hedgemaze (with a golden treasure at the end); - Dye floor (2nd floor of the SW imping building), so you can play with various colors. - Cooking floor (practice your cooking or learn some new recipes while you're here). DONATIONS If you would like to donate, you can PM and/or mail it to Vooch. You can also send items to Vooch via Wagoneer Berkshire at New Festival Cove. If I'm missing donations, please let me know so you get mentioned properly. These are the donations this year: PRIZES This is who got loot. If I'm missing something please let me know: CONCLUSION Wurm is waiting... Are you ready?

[xx:xx:xx] You are too mentally exhausted to do that now. [xx:xx:xx] You have 0 seconds left. Can we get this removed from Southern Freedom Isles / Choas pls. Paying to play the game and would appreciate not being forced to stop due to this mechanic. Northern Freedom Isles can just cross through the portal between PvP/PvE and bypass this and skill until their hearts are content.

Gemstones when Vessel with favor add a small icon to the right, like when an item can be imped, or is hot, add some little icon to the right of vesseled gems containing favor. It was suggested by a certain person with an affection for tending Sheep that I post a few thoughts here. Which is why you will see a few in a row.

@Malenamine did a version check on start then downloaded new version 113. After my virus scanner interrupted and sent the program off to be scanned it passed then installed the new version. You should then see Changelog window dated 03/08/2021 with a list of changes Aldur posted above. The title of the WA window should now read "Aldur's Wurm Assistant (3.3 stable-win R113 P:Windows)" or similar depending on your Operating System. If it says R110 this is the old version. There should also be a "Buy me a beer!" button at top right taking you to the Patreon page

+1 fatigue is dumb and was supposed to be worked on as of last December's official post I've hit it once and it was an awful time. I've come close a few more times and just stopped playing the game and went off to play a different one. A system that gets you to play other games, brilliant.

Sorry to see you go man, but I understand your reasoning and your feelings. I do hope things will improve for wurm but the things that need improvement are not in our hands right now. Hope to see you in game in the future, but if not, journey before destination as they say.

Yes, why not. Also I agree with @Draykaand @TheTricksterit would also be interesting to add some dye to the water to get a different coloured spray for a more subtle effect. I suppose we could try to put coloured lamps in the fountain in the meantime.
  18. 2 points
You could also have fountains in faux sandstone and faux slate, or make them look mossy with some green. There is actually quite some scope for this.

So the tactic of just waiting us out and never bothering to fix this seems to have worked, for a certain definition of worked... I just wonder how many players found this to be the last straw, or better yet, how many would have had to have quit for them to actually fix this. I hate to think that the two number might have been close enough that me staying contributed to the negligence.

Works like a regular horse cage, but can be carry in a persons arms. 20-35 kg (balance reasons, not cause that is what they weigh). 2 versions: 1 with Fine Carp skill - higher QL, can be imped. Less damage on use, no decay on deed. Can be used with pheasant also. 1 with Thatching skill (think wicker basket). Cannot be imped. High decay rate off deed.

I employ a reliable solution to this, and have never hit the limit - in fact I didn't know this was even a thing until I investigated the "You feel rested" message I kept getting. My solution is this - a short span of attention. I play to play. I cannot stomach long sessions of grinding - I just have to move around and do a variety of things. I know this is probably not the solution that people want, because it is essentially about playstyle, but I manage to enjoy the game without this ever becoming an issue.

It is all rubbish. I saw several streams from cadence revealing that there are indeed wild farm animals of every kind, and of course aggressive mobs. And that was the case even months before with a 3fold population. If it were about players per terrain, Melody should have the same if not slightly worse problem, as they have 1/4 of the terrain, 1/4 of the populace, but 1/3.6 of the settlements, so the situation cannot differ significantly. Argueing with Darnok is waste of time and bandwidth.

propriety NOUN conformity to conventionally accepted standards of behaviour or morals. So ... propriety is an illusion based on individual perception of the most immediate and dominant fashion trends in social interaction? I'm guessing that requires the individual to arbitrarily assign more import to the way certain individuals behave, and then also to disregard large amounts of data under the heading of 'they had a bad day', which would actually require said individual to tell you that they HAD a bad day, in order to know to disregard that behavioural data, which would imply the prerequisite that they must value/trust your opinion enough to make such a statement of indication... In hindsight I think I see why I much preferred my mathematics textbooks to interacting with people. The worst thing that ever happen in higher-tier maths was that I got impatient with a seemingly too-simple puzzle and drew the wrong conclusion, but my teacher still gave me extra credit for a detailed and logically substantiated theory which my too-small dataset implied was indeed the case, which raised my mark to bottom-of-the-tier instead of top of the lower-tier. Valuable lesson in not jumping to conclusions, learned. Whereas interacting with the majority of my year-mates; they literally lived in a world where they could just glance in your direction and know that you were all-wrong, unworthy of their time, fully deserving of ceaseless condemnation and to be shunned-on-sight. And they got lots of positive social reinforcement that they were behaving in a correct and highly laudable way for doing so, whereas I only got praise from teachers. But just before we graduated, one of the faceless masses - I knew them all by name, but they were just a homogenous mass of conformity to me - came up to me out of the blue and apologised for bullying me all these years. It had never even occurred to me to label it bullying; he was just doing what he had to to survive, same as me, but within his own social circle. In hindsight, from his perspective, I was one of the privileged few - a student teachers thought was valuable and worthy of their attention, and I conformed to their sense of propriety. Those who couldn't get praise from teachers, those who only ever disappointed them no matter how hard they tried, converted to a very different set of standards of behaviour. But I was never privileged. He had friends, and teachers weren't allowed to be my friends, under threat of being judged corrupted. I look at the way this majority of this community interacts with staff and devs, and I only see schoolkids attempting to interact with teachers. I see children attempting to have a relationship with guardians who are preoccupied with 'adult' priorities. I see strategies on both sides that are doomed to fail. I see only the identical situation I've always seen, in every group interaction I've ever been party or witness to. Only the details change. No-one ever moves on, because no-one ever solves the puzzle; generation after generation, community after community. So I'll say this to you, @TheTrickster; an intermittent sense of propriety is on the same circuit as the intermittent lightbulbs in the EXIT signs, above the only doors that matter in this infinite maze of corridors. Propriety, by definition, can only lead to more of the same. TL;DR: To the rest of you, I'll say that if I was a dev reading your comments, I wouldn't particularly want to talk to you anymore than I did the other kids in my school. Not because that's the right thing to do, but because the right thing to do is about as clear as the mud churned up by a migrating herd trying to cross a crocodile-infested river. To thank your lucky stars that you have @DemonaNightshade, and to never forget to tell her that you do.

This reminds me, one thing we desperately need is a bleaching agent, so that we can whiten wood and cloth items before adding a dye. Also we could whiten post and rail fences for that US ranch paddock look, or whiten ship sails. The texture could have a semi opaque white overlay, or be completely white depending on implementation. Perhaps we have found another use for all those yellow potions! "Before that you suffer it to be washed, lay it all night in urine, the next day rub all the spots in the urine as if you were washing in water; then lay it in more urine another night and then rub it again and so do till you find they be quite out." Actually the color is gold but even if it was another color I think it would still be better than dull bland colorless grey. It's in a room with gold altars and since we can't use marble for another option I opt for gold dye. Edit-I was just thinking that metal fountains would definitely work too.

The invisible ducks go in the invisible cages. Easy to carry, but VERY easy to lose if you put it down somewhere. You have to try to follow the quacks. A lot of people seem to lose them near water.

These suggestions you keep making would effect every single server. Not just the one you play on. But to play your game I decided to check out Cadence. [13:14:52] You step through the portal. Will you ever return? [13:14:53] You enter Sonata. I headed west from the token following the road. Saw some deeds with horses (no were near 100). Saw a sign for free animals. Was going to check that out and find the easy way to find animals but decided to keep looking. Then blammo I found it. [13:21:05] Horses like this one have many uses. Sadly I didn't have a rope to lead it. But there was a horse. Also found a few other animals here and there. Next I went to check the other starter deed. (had to /suicide to get there) [13:22:32] You enter Encore. Immediately I found a few hens and roosters walking next to the town. [13:24:58] Horses like this one have many uses. It was even quicker to find a horse from Encore. Now I will have to say that it was quite barren near spawn. But it was easy to find after a little bit of searching. So now the thing here is what will happen if something like this would be implemented? You would take a problem from one server and make a new problem for all the servers. How would this benefit the wurm community? How would this bring more players to the game? How would this make the players that are here stay on the game?

I find it humorous that folks like to pass this off as a grandiose adventure map, when in reality it's just a map to enable raiders to destroy a fallen deed within hours... even before the friends and allies of the deed owner have a chance to reach out or help. that is something you should take up with the devs not the players, they're very insistent on players not knowing anything about the game, as is apparent with their constant patchnotes missing a bunch of stuff added and not giving any real info on how things are supposed to work, and straight up hostility to anyone who finds out things via reading wu code (which is basically the only way to actually know how things work in this game sadly). you're on the money with the fact that it's a massive issue with the game management though. wiki is the same, they'll delete your edits if they think it's from wu datamining because you don't keep a logbook of everything you learn ingame but they'll happily keep misinformation from a decade ago like marsh spreading or whatever trash is on there, so most "vets" don't bother with it and just ask friends instead. it's not really ingame but if you go on the wurm test server it gives you in depth info on combat things like damage armor reduction etc, would be nice to have that ingame
  45. 1 point
I understand that you are looking for dev information, but what would a CM be able to tell you? The CMs' task is online chat moderation and working with ingame support tickets. CR communications is not among our tasks and we don't get dev information, so we cannot help, unfortunately.

Now that you've given me an excuse to do so, yes! Fire Brick on the left, natural wall on the right: Which is to say: walls are remarkably tricky to dye and almost never turn out the way we expect. Red shades tend to look particularly sketchy - looking much more pink than red. I thought Fire Brick might be a good choice given it's a darker color, but it's less effective than I hoped it would be. Some of the darker browns really enhance the wood tones (special thanks to @Acacianimonfor boldly exploring this very topic) - but for walls, the dye acts more as a tone on the graphics texture than an actual coat of paint. I struggled with this mightily during the Creative Constructs competition - wanting to make a classic barn with the familiar coat of red paint, but was unable to come up with a solution.

I am posting a snippet from a comment of mine in another thread. Darnok, you have played the game for one year. You are not an experienced nor advanced player, this snippet of text is aimed for players such as yourself that need more insight on why players respond to these threads. Quoted from "We have a lot of veteran players stuck in their ways, but more than that, we have an educated veteran playerbase that DO know better because these 'new' suggestions and ideas are obvious concepts that have tried and failed previously, and upon attempting to educate the newer masses, receive the generic 'you're stuck in your ways' or 'you don't want change' response. Wurms a very hard game to work with, its on an old system, its limitations are greater than its possibilities, and its balancing skilling, pve features and pvp features together on a fine balance. Vets want to see positive change, they do..but the positive change suggested on these forums just aren't it, fam. They just aren't possible or have been tried and failed. Both veterans and new players need to understand this." This concept would be adding in layers of advanced, complex, or somewhat impossible mechanics that would require a total rebuild of current systems and change the balance of the gameplay drastically for both PvE and PvP players. Going as far as to wipe out herds of animals at such a quick pace, quicker than the current AND old AH system would have allowed you to replace them and breed them, the possibility of a temperature system that would change how the entire games played, how items work, having to somehow code in all of this stuff for a game that has little to no development and virtually no paid staff. Your suggestions are suggestions, we understand, but please understand when the older, more experienced, more knowledgeable playerbase gives you feedback: You are asking for things that would break the game, require an impossible rework, or bring more bad aspects than good aspects, in a game that is still struggling to provide very basic Quality of Life updates.
