If you're still around, accidents happen. People have bad days, If you are that concerned about your reputation, just lay low for a bit and most people will forget it, we've all done silly things at one point or another. The game goes on. Give it another try and if you have issues with people in the future, you can address it then. There are lots of other people to trade with. Hope you stick around and give it another chance.

I want to publicly apologize to Hondimaaru. I called him a scammer yesterday in the game, while it was actually me, who (accidentally) scammed him. It was too hot here, my brain wasn't working properly, I was tired and stressed out. I didn't even notice (until much later) that I included mailing fees twice in the COD. My second mistake was that I thought he didn't actually accept my mail. He did. I'm still quite new to the game, no idea how to check pending mails and their status. After realizing my mistakes I told him to send me a wood scrap as COD, so I could repay him. So far, I haven't received his mail. I also want to apologize everyone in yesterday's Trade chat for all the unnecessary drama I caused. I wasn't thinking clearly. Anyway, my reputation is probably ruined now and (since making in game money was the only way for me to afford to pay for premium) the game is over for me. So long and thanks for all the fish.

Yeah, this was my first thought as well.. The skin in itself is nice, at least on the picture. But to fully appreciate the skin, you probably have to apply it to some dummy hammer and then place it on the forge; and not forget to repair it; because let's be honest, how many smiths out there ever drop or equip their hammers? In other words, I think the monthly skins should be something more "visible". If you want to please the smiths, could give them a large anvil with that fancy logo, or even a forge. A skinned hammer is maybe just one step away from a skinned whetstone; which is just one step away from a custom skinned toolbelt

Mapmaking - an ability to create and mark a map of an area. This would take a fair bit of development, and in fact what I am describing here is almost two entire mechanics (depending on the scale you choose). Have sheep and pigs (deer?) produce skins on butchering, and have lye treatment turn them not into leather but into vellum. Vellum and an inked pen or a bit of charcoal, and you can map an area. You may have to set the scale when you create the map, "local" say 100x100 tiles for example or "island" to create a map the same scale as the in-game. Maybe use a piece of vellum, a charcoal, and a string of cotton (to roll it up and keep the charcoal secure) to create a blank map. Activate the map and on an object in your POV select "mark on map". The vellum is marked with an icon (the first icon would go a little left of the middle, maybe) and the icon is added as a legend down the RHS. To mark a new feature on the map, you need to be able to see some other feature already marked (with the sole exception of the starting point). If you start at a waystone, for instance, you could map the road running as far as you can see it, and other things you can see, like a guard tower or a mine/tunnel entrance or a bridge. When you add the item you can include a description, which goes on the map (e.g. "tunnel to Market Lake", "inn with free beds"). For the "Island" map, there could be an action to copy the basic in-game map (or several actions, each copying a portion) and after that you could then customize with your own markings. With a blank map, you could copy an existing map. I can think of SOOO many uses for player-made maps. For example, a map of a village could be posted on the village board, or copies could be given to new citizens. A handy reference showing where stuff is. A mud map of how to get from one location to another without a string of text instructions. A general "we are here" map of an island, to locate a deed or some other location without stepping out of the game.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the devs for some of the QOL changes that have been added. I'm thinking about the drag and drop equipment onto animals change. This change has been a true blessing, especially when dealing with hell horses, less time needed to open up windows and equip gear, means less time I'm burning alive So I know many of us are still frustrated with the changes to AH and I hope that some of us still have hope in the team to smooth things out and to continue to fix things....I hope they still are working on this and have not moved on to other things. But I did want to say thank you, its not said enough, we often focus on our frustrations and let the good things slip through the cracks.

Category: Wacky and wild Server: Xanadu (M10 Highway towards east from Hermit's Rest) So this is what happens when you want to connect to a road but there is mountain in your way... Smart move of course would have been to either make zigzag road up (but I wanted straight road) or tunnel through (but I had done so much tunneling already). So being not so smart I chose to surface cut my way. Also, this road goes from west to east, but I also incorporated the road going north-south above the mountain into this. A view entering the area from south Entering the area from east Looking towards west from the bridge Few numerical facts: from beginning of the road the highest point in the way was something of 1800-2000 dirt up, not completely sure as I did not record all of process at beginning. Right now from start of ramp to level of colossi and bridges is 1760 dirt height. Water is about 110 lower. (There is marked path of power tile in southeast of area, colossi and bridges are not quite high enough.) Ramp goes up 32 tile length, after that road to east runs further 80 tiles that needed to be surface mined. Parts going north and south are together about 80-90 tiles of serious terraforming. Numbers of tiles may not sound that much, but please remember when going more than 300 slope, means you need to change the tiles next too. And maybe tiles next to them as well, to get the needed slope over distance. Little edit: addition to highlight some of the scope of this as pictures and numbers don't convey it that easily. The 4 colossus and 4 bridges at the top of the area took me something like a week to craft, maybe less. This whole road-thingy...no clue, couple years or so, probably more, difficult to say as I think I started this around 2017, not sure, but took few several month breaks from the game and just finished the last decorations now. Just saying if you try to do similar thing, don't expect to finish it tomorrow - Nestangol (Mayor of Northwind Cove, owner of Hermit's Rest, Maker of West Hammer Lake Canals etc.)

The Beginners' Heavy Horse Guide Firstly a note to say, I'm not an expert on breeding horses under the new system, with two toons at around 50AH when the update came out, I felt like a beginner too, but I read the patch notes carefully and came up with a plan to breed draft horses, and (so far) it seems to be working. I thought I would write a brief guide, not an expert guide, but a guide to follow my successes, avoid my mistakes and share my happy accidents breeding Heavy (draft/draught) Horses since the update. For this guide I am assuming you are at 50AH or just below, and not a high level breeder (you probably stopped grinding AH like many did on reaching 50) - if you are then I expect you will have your own better methods. During this guide I refer to 'old' 5-speeds, 4-speeds and 3-speeds etc - this has nothing to do with their age(!), but refers to the way they were described before the update. This guide assumes you are familiar with the minimum breeding age of horses (late adolescent). Step 1: Start Collecting horses: What horses can you get? What's your situation? (Ignore the bred in captivity trait!) A I have the old clean 5-speeds (3 speed 2 draft traits only) You are in a blessed yet awkward position because your horses have more speed traits than draft traits, so if you breed two 5-speeds the usual result will be another speed horse. To crack this, you need to breed your 5-speed with something else. See B. B My neighbours have a free horse pen with the old 1-4 speeds Do you live near a kind neighbour who has a free horse pen, giving away (or selling) their old 3 and 4 speeds? You've possibly struck gold. Ignore the old 4 speeds (at first), and any horses with any other traits than the old 5-speed traits - go straight to the old 2 and 3 speeds. Pick out some nice clean old 3 speeds with strong body and carry more and one speed trait (doesn't matter which) if there are any old 2 speeds with just strong body and carry more, grab those too! Note these horses will not have the draft horse shaped body (they only get that with 3 draft traits) so you you will need to right click Inspect them to check their traits. C I have access to wild horses Collect as many as you can reasonably collect, unless you have access to males described in B, in which case you could get away with just collecting females. Step 2: Pairing up and breeding Don't worry about sorting your horses into happy couples. If you only have access to one or two appropriate males - use them for most of your mares. You can breed them several times per day. If you have access to a FO priest, do get your horses cleaned up and healthy and remove negative traits first, it will make some difference to the success of the outcome. Pay attention to the inbreeding warning, and avoid inbreeding wherever possible. A I have 5 speed mares? Breed all your mares with (in this order of priority): 1 - old (clean) 2 speeds with 2 draft traits 2 - old (clean) 3 speeds with 2 draft and 1 speed trait 3 - old (clean) 4 speeds with 2 draft traits - strong body and carry more 4 - old (clean) 1 speeds with 1 draft trait 5 - wild - 0 trait horses 50% of the time (on average, allowing for RNG) the foal will take after the father (or non-5 speed if the other way round). In this case, for options 1 and 2 this should result in a draft dominant foal more often than not. For option 3 - there's about half the chance of 1 or 2 that you will get a draft dominant foal. For option 4, I have not tried this but it seems to me to be slightly more likely to produce a draft than breeding with a wild horse, it might even be more successful than breeding with a 4 speed - let us know! For 5, the parent is wild, so it's really pot luck. For the 50% of the foals that take after the mother (or 5-speed parent) - I'm sorry, they may most likely be speed based foals. B I have some 2 draft trait horses from the freebie pen? Awesome (the ideal scenario). Each of these horses will have strong body and carry more traits and so they are draft dominant - look at the 1 speed trait they have (if any) because you need to keep a note of this. Pair up your mares and stallions so that the 1 speed trait (if any) is different for each of them (if both have fleeter movement for example, this may increase the chance of fleeter movement being passed on, which we don't want - so find a different mare) A same pairing (Wrong!) Male: It has a strong body. It can carry more than average. It has very strong leg muscles. It has been bred in captivity. Female: It has a strong body. It can carry more than average. It has very strong leg muscles. It has been bred in captivity. A suitable pairing would be (Correct): Male: It has fleeter movement than normal. It has a strong body. It can carry more than average. It has been bred in captivity. Female: It has a strong body. It has lightning movement. It can carry more than average. It has been bred in captivity. You may only have access to old 4-speeds with 2 draft traits, or old 2-speeds with 1 draft trait (or worse!) - if so adjust your pairings according, ensuring that you don't double up on any unwanted traits - make sure any unwanted traits are not present on both the mother and father. C I have access to wild horses. Breed your wild mares with males in the same priority as shown in A. WARNING: Keep an eye on deed ratio (deed tiles per horse) during your mares' pregnancies - you can't afford to lose any, keep it above 15 (you can check this at the Deed Token > Info. Don't keep pregnant mares off deed. Step 3 - The next generation. New foals! so exciting! If you are lucky some of your foals may start to show 3 draft traits - these will usually be: It has a strong body. It can carry more than average. It is easy on its gear. It has been bred in captivity. Don't worry about the number of points as these will be capped at your AH level when you bred the foal. Some foals may have 1 or 2 draft traits - if you can afford to, just concentrate on the 3 trait horses for breeding next time. If you are really lucky, you may have a 4th or a rare 5th trait - keep hold of those foals until they are ready to breed. Some foals may have extra traits; miscellaneous, output or negative. After removing the negative traits, keep these foals safe until you have some good clean 3 draft trait foals, at that point you can put the ones with extra traits aside and concentrate on your new clean draft trait animals. This is the stage I am at - I'm just waiting for my 3 draft trait youngsters to grow big enough to breed! With luck, and increased skill I may get a 4th draft trait! Conclusion: I hope this guide helps. It is by no means definitive; advanced breeders will have far better methods, but I am hoping it will help others who have never ground their skill past 50, to breed themselves some lovely chunky draft horses Happy Wurming! - Muse

This is all pure speculation. ANY theory that is believed can have facts found to support it and all other facts dismissed as irrelevant. That's how paranoid conspiracy theories WORK. Now you can stand there all day and say "I speak for everyone who quit, even though they aren't joining me on this thread, and this is why they left. I predicted it would happen, and it did. See! I was right! This is absolute proof that everything I say is to be taken as absolute fact." But that's not how the scientific method works. Most people who have been subjected to a social or political campaign have had proven to their satisfaction that statistics can be misrepresented to attempt to prove anything by logical fallacy, including that your great-great-great grandmother MUST have been an extra-terrestrial lifeform invading planet Earth, in order to achieve world domination by outbreeding the natives. Just because financial theorising is more mainstream-acceptable, than some well known and widely-ridiculed fringe theories, this does not make your logical premise any more sound. Speak for yourself, and allow others to speak with you if they agree. That's how this forum tends to work, in my experience. Gaming communities are not all neatly-identical. Different personalities are attracted to different genres of game, and to different styles of gameplay within that genre. In my experience of reading reviews, every single gamer has a unique set of likes and dislikes, which is why the gaming industry can support such a broad spectrum of games, and even many near-identical games despite a limited pool of disposable income for financing them. There's no such thing as 'the perfect game for everyone' if everyone in that community is determined to selfishly have 'the perfect game for me'. That's not how communities work, in my personal experience of player-drama. However that does NOT licence me to go to a community and say "You're all wrong, everything you do is wrong, everything you want is wrong, and everything you are doing is going to lead to the impossibility of something I want for me personally, and what I want, and believe, and take to be absolute fact for myself, is all that matters in the entire world, so shut up and accept that you must do exactly as I say, or lose everything you care about." Because, me, with an ounce of respect, if not for myself then for the continued wellbeing of my immediate social circle, let alone those peripheral to that group, is going to reject that argument. Especially in the PvP community, shrunken as it is. And I suspect, this is true for the veteran PvE community, though they are not part of my social circle and I cannot claim to understand their culture to a useful level. There's a reason RL politics and religious issues are banned topics by the moderators. One cannot force people to believe what one has come to believe, just because one happens to believe oneself to be 100% right and anyone who disagrees with one is ones utter inferior and their opinion is not only worthless, but to be eradicated with extreme prejudice. In my limited history of experiencing PvP drama, that attitude tends to lose people allies on the long-term, though it may gain them in the (very) short-term. Just because this is about financial profitability strategy, and not directly about political or religious idealism, does not mean one can safely ignore basic tenets of human psychology to achieve absolute victory over any voices of dissent that are encountered. In a way, coins are ultimately just voting tokens in a very broad, treacle-slow and ongoing ideology popularity contest. But as you personally are apparently not financially successful in-game, and don't value the in-game financial system as it exists now, why should any veteran PvEer, let alone the Devs, take your word as financial gospel? And that's even assuming that coin transactions are the ONLY acceptable way to express your opinion and achieve your aspirations, which is clearly a fallacy in itself. There are no financial transactions in the community I am in, apart from the core game-mechanic defaults (upkeep, premium, etc.) and yet we manage to have ongoing, long-term and highly complex relationships without it. Too complex for some. So I'll say to you personally, what I said to MYSELF when I came back to the Wurm community after 6 years: You aren't up-to-date, you are out-of-touch, you will look like an utter idiot to those around you at first, and if you want to be successful alongside this community, you are going to have to invest time and money into these people and their self-built culture, and be willing to value their opinions as at-least equally-valuable to your own, however challenging and frustrating that may be to achieve. Learn to change what you personally are prepared to do and experience, before you expect anyone else to change.

Regardless of what demona said the patch notes said it would make them similar to hell horses, so from that I expect them to be similar to hell horses
  36. 1 point
I have just realised that the reason we were all misinterpreting "It is unbelievably fast: always on speed bonus similar to hell horses (Speed, Rare)" as being traits always on, rather than being what I now believe it to be (as above) , and it is another example of poor communication - "[00:00:08] <Demonanightshade> So, I went onto test. Recreated my exact horse gear on an identical horse to mine in game except with the new speed traits, made sure my inventory was the same weight, etc. In game I reached 35.29kmh on my horse. On test, with the speed traits there, got up to 42.49kmh, all flat ground, no slopes. That DOES include the rare speed trait, and even without that it reaches the same speed because the rare trait just makes it so all speed traits are always active (like hell horses.)" This certainly seems to indicate that there was no, or insufficient, communication between the Devs and one of the few people who did actually have access to testing before things went live. Posted into comments May 28th, presumably read by staff, but even then they didn't communicate that there was an error here, and I'm assuming they didn't even let Demona know that the trait had been misinterpreted as it would have then been corrected in the later clarification of traits that occurred. The trait does not make all speed traits always active, they vary just as normal horses, but the rare trait itself is always active, and gives a continuous speed boost. This explains why it then boosted further when in water, as only then did that trait kick in. Other traits are equally as vague, or downright not working - stationary isn't, they run around just as much as any other animal, have yet to see (or hear of a single person who has seen) animals digging items up when feeding, vibrant, slow metabolism and graceful eater are all pretty unclear in whether or not they are working, extremely sick is not a slim chance of killing an animal (except on any individual hunger tick) but rather an almost certain death within a couple of weeks. Animals showing as not hungry are starving to death, animals on enchanted grass are dropping dead, breeding timers don't work, breeding is a RNG lottery, vehicle quality is not affecting speeds as predicted. Communication? Completely and utterly missing. The patience is gone, players i know are giving up and quitting. A much anticipated update that has turned into not only an AH nerf, but a speed nerf to all. What a mess.

Private deeds themselves are a minor inconvenience because they appear as an empty spot on the map, so it's just not true that they don't affect other people, but the argument isn't about whether or not people should have private deeds. It's about basing the entire community map system on the assumption that people by default want their locations kept secret. This means that every single deed owner is expected to make the effort of submitting their location data on the forums and keeping it updated, whether they care about the maps or not. There are a lot of people who just aren't interested, or aren't aware that they should do this, never get around to it, or maybe prefer not drawing attention to themselves by making an announcement in a public forum. If a player doesn't engage with this system, the assumption is that they actively do not want to be on the maps so their deed location is never added. I don't care about people wanting private deeds, but assuming that everyone who doesn't make the effort to add their location actively wants to stay off the maps is wrong, and the result is that the entire community is missing out on having complete and updated (aka useful) maps. If you as an individual want to do something that inconveniences the community as a whole, you should be the one putting in the extra effort to do so.

The math and logic here is faulty. Assuming the situation of 11 CR vs 11 CR, with 90 nimbleness you're going from 75% hit chance to 80.64% hit chance. This isn't a 5% damage increase. It's 80.64 / 75.0 = 7.5% damage increase. Not to mention that multipliers in combat such as flanking bonus and similar will increase the differential even more. Rift creatures have more CR than players by a decent bit. Lets say you're fighting 11 CR vs 25 CR. With 90 nimbleness, you go from 51.7% hit chance to 58.9% hit chance. 58.9 / 51.7 = 1.139, or a 13.9% damage increase. This, being Nimbleness 90 (for sake of easy rounding to nearest whole CR), outperforms WoA 100 on a weapon. Combine that with additional modifiers via flanking bonus to close the gap between you and the target even more, and you'll notice that Nimbleness results in a significantly better damage output over WoA. In short, WoA is good if the target is weak. Nimbleness is better if the target is strong. Any weapon that is meant to do rifts, uniques, or difficult creatures of any kind (trolls even) should be using Nimbleness over Wind of Ages.

Leaving the building you'll find the rare and special items merchants next door In the smithy building you can buy jewellery, gems, armour, weapon and blacksmithing items On the north side of the market you can find shipping and bulk items; as well as enchants and fishing Next to that you will find the merchant selling animal gear and the self help animal pens In the Tailors and Carpentry building you'll find merchants tending to your carpentry, leatherworking and cloth tailoring needs, together with one selling banners Thank you!

Saw this news on Reddit yesterday and couldn't wait to share with Wurmians: World's first ship tunnel to be built under Norwegian Mountains! (Wurm had this figured out in 1050 AD. 🙄) Lol 🤪 & Mycelium is actually a green substitute for leather and plastic! 🍄
