    We had the question and the dream to get a answer. so we did it for science. We now live in a world where this is public knowledge. This is the dawn of a brave new world. AND IF ANYONE, and i say: ANYONE! asks you the question: how far can whales fly? Proud yourself for you know the answer for this crucial question: If you are reading this and also consider yourself a man or woman of science please consider improving our experiment. we need to know how far dead critters and even human corpses can fly. I invite you to post you ammo of choice, trebuchet ql and how far it went.

    As time passes it becomes increasingly obvious that the steam launch was likely nothing more than a last ditch cash grab from the new company before leaving it to stagnate, taking the money elsewhere. It's especially upsetting that the work that is apparently being done is going towards implementing things that should've been in BEFORE the steam launch and the mass influx of new players/toons from it. Quitting and going back to lurking the forums has definitely been on my mind often the last few months, but then again there is practically no chance of another "reboot" or "relaunch" opportunity like there was with steam. Rushing plans/content screwed the game, once again.

    Hello I'm Knople, I'd like to suggest the ability to use the myriad variety of traps available to us on mobs as well as on players. (we have so many trap options, it'd be nice to use them, not only on players) My reasoning is there are likely players similar to me who are either not very good at combat, prefer to gather sprung traps, or like to bait hunt. I am unaware as to how coding would be used to implement the ability for traps to be usable on mobs, but perhaps it might be possible to add and additional "if, then" for the trap to recognize mob code as well as player code as an addendum. (I believe it should be fairly easy code wise, but again i don't know what I don't know so take my super simplified idea with a grain of salt.) Thank you for your time. -Knople

    Subj. Pls fix. I do understand that its supposed to be help chat, however it is more of a global chat. And lack of moderation leads to undesireable interactions with annoying people. Adding moderation is not realistic due to need of people, removing chat is making game worse, therefore please add ignore functionality. As it stands, it simply doesn't work - ignored people still are readable by person ignoring it.

    Hello Acchiappacoda and hello Survivors. I'm going crazy as i'm reading your story πŸ˜„ Thank you so much for shareing with us and the wurm community. One thing is suprising me again and again and more and more and this is the community that i already here and still continueing to form. You guys take part in the game and the server in awesome ways and you keep suprising me with your creativity and the ways you show appeciation towards this new place. It's half way until my return and i could catch a few minutes to have a look at how you guys are doing.     I've wished for this many times for different reasons. The first one that comes to mind is exploring a village on another server, not wanting to dismount and risk losing the horse, but wanting to take in the surroundings, so have to awkwardly gallop and stop, gallop and stop the whole time.

    Small update, after another hour of play (more or less) I found enough material to build, following Vedurin's survival tips, my first tools and the deed stacke. It was so exciting to look for material and try to create tools a few meters from animals ready to kill you in horrible ways, hidden in the trees (not that it made any difference, but it created more the feeling of really being there), move a few steps, constantly check around you, always ready to run away at the first sign of danger. Small steps, do not take too many risks, slowly, quietly, calmly. Knowing that if I died I would lose everything and have to start over ... ...but I did it. Now I have my own little village and my faithful bodyguard called "KillThatDamnAnimal" ( well, that's how I call him) I had to create my village of 5x5 and then enlarge it a bit due to the monsters nearby. For now I'm going very slowly and can't wait to get back online again ... see you. ps.: thanks to the very friendly and helpfull comunity

    So, a quick reality check here (my summary for April will come next week since I'm busy marking exams this weekend!) The data isn't telling us much beyond "what is being done now isn't working"; it isn't suggesting that better free play, or faster action timers, or even more content are going to improve the game's population. These are prognositcations on our own part, some of which may well be grounded in solid theory, others which may be grounded in experience, and some in wishful and hopeful thinking. The thing is, we all agree on some things helping out: 1. A world that feels more alive, be it in the systems presented or in the variety of life and its behaviours. 2. The server code needs overhauling, as it stands it is just too laggy at high populations, even if we did get the population back we wouldn't keep it because they'd ragequit over the lag. 3. Too much of what has been implemented has been half implemented, and things need finishing off rather than being left mothballed. Flesh out the priest update, continue making combat feel more immersive, clean up building bugs that have been around longer than most people have been playing (looking at you hedge planting), sort out the missing runes, actually give stub skills some form of use! Now, if the current community (as fractured as it is, with its different ideal visions for wurm, who never agree) can agree on this, then surely that indicates broad appeal (within Wurm's target demographic, the players who are still around) and, at this point, broad appeal to that demographic is unlikely to hurt is it?

    I would first and foremost like to thank @jackjonesfor giving us all the Xanadu Community Map which we've used for the last 4-5 years. His map system is also one of the founding blocks of the newer maps developed by @Yagaand @Substr. Thank you Jack, we miss you. Jack has been preoccupied with RL issues the last year or two, and as such has not had time to help maintain the map and upload the new map dumps. So, I have been working with @Yagaover the past few days to provide a new Xanadu Community Map. @Yagaand @Substr have developed a system which they implemented for the Deliverance server initially and which we have now updated for Xanadu. New Xanadu Community Map Features 1. Map coordinates The map offers a common type of map grid (as an optional overlay), using the same denotation as the in-game map (for example "E 24"). However, to place and find locations in a much more detailed way the new map is based on "tile coordinates" (x, y), making it possible to narrow down locations to a single tile on the server! This allows us to place deeds and landmarks much more precisely than before. (Map coordinates are explained in the next post.) 2. Zoom The map provides various zoom levels, allowing you to zoom in from a view of the entire server to close-ups of single deeds. 3. Layers Deeds, Tunnels, Canals, Bridges etc. are actually map layers which can be toggled on and off. You can also choose among two map types (Terrain, Topographical). Note that the Isometric map is not available on this map due to the extreme distortion of tile location caused by mountains and other terrain, thereby preventing an accurate placement of deeds, tunnels, bridges, etc. 4. Finding settlements The map offers an easy-to-use search function for deeds. 5. Selecting locations and copy coordinates You are able to select any point on the map and save the coordinates for future use. Colours and Symbols Map Information This new map has been reproduced based on the previous map data and as such some elements may not be 100% accurate since we are using a completely different system. To this point, if you notice anything missing or in the wrong place in terms of settlements (deeds), highways, tunnels, canals and landmarks, please post in the thread below using the Adding Data guidelines provided. In particular, Tunnels and canals are handled a bit differently on this new map. There are Tunnels - which are foot traffic only, there are Canals - which are boat traffic only, and there are Tunnel+Canals - which allow passage of both boat and foot traffic. Please post in the thread below any discrepancies you see so we can get these accurate. Also, those tunnels that are knarr-depth only will need to be named as such, as that data-driven designation is not supported in the new map. Adding Data Please post in this thread to report new or changed data. (Do not send PMs, either on the forum or in-game! Do not use Discord to add data either!) Please use tile coordinates (x, y) to report new map data. (Hover your mouse pointer over the location you wish to report, click once to see the coordinates in the "Selected" field, copy the coordinates.) Deeds: Please report the settlement name and the coordinates of the settlement token. Example: "Serendipity Bay [1650, 1384]" Highways: Please report the coordinates of all points describing the highway (start, "corners", end). Please use this format: "[[5229,2327],[5543,2328],[5547,2332],[5577,2332],[5588,2321],[5614,2321],[5623,2312],[5684,2313],[5692,2321],[5790,2321]]" which is the actual coordinates of the highway that stretches across G20. Tunnels, Canals, Bridges: Use the start and end coordinates. These elements can also be given a name. Please only add fully completed Tunnels, Canals and Bridges. Fully completed tunnels are those with both walls reinforced along the entire length, all veins in the roadway/canal gone and with the floors mined down to their final depth. Other: You can also report guard towers, mission structures, and special named landmarks (like names of lakes and mountains, as long as those names are agreed upon among the local community.)ο»Ώο»Ώ Note that Xanadu is an Opt-In map, meaning that you must ask to have your deed posted on the map. We encourage you to do so as the more deeds that are shown on the map the easier it is for people to find their location when they're out exploring and lost , or when they're trying to come pick up that cool whatchamacallit that you offered for sale or check out your totally awesome deed. However, only a Mayor or an authorized villager can request that a deed be added. THANKS!     currently the mechanics of battle camps and pendulums are so wonky you can have 3 in one local and not even know it, while running straight by two of them and only picking up one suggestion is to allow all battle camps that are able to be hit by the current pendulum use to be shown to the player instead of just one of them

A few months into the journey the ship you were on ran into a terrible storm, which wrecked it and burried it under the waves. After many years of Wurm Online i quit because the game simply took up too much time. But it didn't take much time for my longing to the lands of Wurm to return. So i bought Wurm Unlimited to still be able to build and adventure with faster gameplay and no monthly cost. There's just one thing missing: the community. I loved to build a deed with friends and be very active on the market with big bulk orders. πŸ™‚ For a while i have been dreaming of my own server and with Stranded i just started that project. - Goals My goal is to create a server with a community who enjoys to play together, help each other and make things possible together. So in general i would like to create an environment which is not afraid of a challange while avoiding grinds which take years to complete. So: not easy peasy lemon squeezy but also not insane. πŸ˜‰ - Progress Certain aspects of the server can be changed by the community or according to the wishes of the community. The idea is to have some kind of global progress in the game. Currently everyone starts as a survivor of the shipwreck. So: no items, low skills, no starter town, no fixed respawn. As the community grows and builds certain things or decides to elevate the game for themselves and others these conditions will be changed. Starter deeds will be established, maybe with schools and libraries to enable new players to join the game with starter items or even higher skills. Creative ideas by the players on how to influence the server will be very welcome. - Server Rules No cheating - this involves among other things no bots, bot scripting, no exploits. English chat - Keep the chat clean and in english. Be friendly to people. Follow the general Wurm Online rules. Before setting up a deed close to someone else's deed make sure to ask them first. One Alt allowed - each Steam ID may play up to two accounts: one main and one alt. Both may set up a separate deed. (Accessible through equipment window and skill window.) Treasure Hunting The treasure hunting mod is quite extensive. Many of you surely know already how it basically works. But i added this section to show how it is configured on this server and explain a few things to those who are new to treasure hunting. Find treasure maps while doing various actions like digging, mining, foraging, felling trees, etc. Locating the treasure with a compass does not damage the compass. Bring your shovel, you will need it to dig up the treasure. Treasure maps have a random QL. QL of the map has various effects: QL of the treasure is the same as QL of the map. When you dig up a treasure guardians (mobs will spawn) and attack you. Higher QL means stronger mobs. Even Avatars of the gods may spawn. Treasure chests are no more locked, since they can't be picked on a PvE server. The better the QL of the treasure the better the items inside. Features to be implemented Info Tab in game with introduction Meditation modifications Ingame Server Map Addition of a custom map island ... Known problems Something is causing mobs, that usually can't swim, to walk or glitch into water and drown. Making loot available easily which usually would take quite some preparation to obtain. Double bulk capacity currently doesn't work. Volume is still capped at 16k. CA Help channel is not properly synchronized between the game and our Discord server.     Say, now that we have boats that can adjust their speed lets just add this feature to horses as well. You can start with a walk...say 5-8kph change up to a trot, then a canter and gallop. Just wanted to throw my two cents in, what do you guys think?

    Every second weekend of the month, wurm becomes free to play for that weekend. Existing premium players get an experience boost (1.5x or 2x?), and non-premium players get to experience the premium version of the game. Such a scheme accomplishes 4 things: 1. Acts as a way to draw back older players (no need to worry about being a vulnerable de-premed character when you come back, you can come back on a free weekend and get to safety before you decide to repreme or not!). 2. Acts as a genuin "free trial" of the game, rather than the joke currently in place. 3. Provides a good metric on the impact of wurm dropping the subscription model, or expanding the free game in general. 4. Provides a genuine "freemium" path for those who are from countries where the euro dwarfs the local currancy.

    I too have quit playing after 7 years, the DEVs never listen to what content players want, the Lag is horrible when servers have too much population. The code needs re-written or something. The world only feels alive when there is enough players on, but even then it still kinda doesn't. Not sure if NPC's would help, or likely add to lag. I also have pointed out before that everyone can do every thing, I suggested having careers. Races would also be cool, like Dwarves and Elves, etc. In all honesty WURM died awhile back when the economy went away. I did like having the option of selling Silvers if I wanted. What really killed WURM for me is the broken email system that is supposed to warn you when Deed Upkeep is low. I never got the message and by the time I was messaged by a player what was going on at my deed having disbanded, I just said feck it and I'm done with WURM. You DEV's have never understood what we want in the game. So RIP WURM, you were good while it lasted.

    i am actualy not sure i should continue to play, after 15+ years , my enjoyment of the game reach a dead end... there is a long list of reasons i stopped logging in a month ago. whatever the reasons, good going wurm.

    Just got word today that the tunnel is accessable for traffic again. Therefore status of the canal can be changed to open. If all goes well - and knowing Qd, it will - it will be accessable for all boats after the weekend. Thanks for the update, Qd and thanks for all the work done in there.     Not all veterans want it. There's just a minority of players who have gotten used to the same system for 10 years and don't want it to be changed for various reasons : inertia, habit, self interest (lack of an AH means they can sell at w/e price they want, without an average market price), oldie-but-goldie system, etc. I'm all for bringing wurm into 2021 and there have been countless threads about an AH but all of them went nowhere.

    It's been asked for in various forms in various posts over a variety of years. Can we please be allowed to load a rowboat into a larger ship? It would be awesome if larger ships had a compartment (exactly like fishing rod) that appear in their inventory.

    Hi! I played only few hours but I have already been squashed by a troll, eaten by a crocodile, poisoned by a spider, mauled by a bear, bitten by a beetle, chased by a wolf, drowned and turned into an omelette by falling off a cliff ... ... and this not just once... ...and not one thing at a time .... ... exciting !!!πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ Having said that I must admit that perhaps there are a little too many "adversaries" around and a little too few rocks and woods to collect (in almost two hours I found two rocks and no branches). But it's still only two hours and I haven't had so much fun playing Wurm in a long time. Thank you Vedurin, I love this server!!! See you later on line !!

    I'd feel bad for the devs if they go ahead with 2. Not long ago, forum was crying in their big baby bottles about the lack of new content being released right away. The amount of time and work to do this would honestly probably kill new content releasing. As for 3, yeah, there's a lot of systems and mechanics I really do with they'd go over, tweak and change without major overhauls to the skill or experience.

    Looks like they will yield much higher when you are extremely lucky and unveil them by hitting out a cave tile. It will even have an event message ("You find a source spring!"), and my one held about 0.3l of source.

    This merely reinforces all those threads about how bad the current alt/sermon/priest system is. basically we can't have something that draws in new players, gives exposure to the game and increases quality of life just to satisfy some whales that prem up 20 alts ? I'm not a business major but that sounds like poor planning for the future of Wurm, fiscally and game design wise. If the current game design of the game does NOT allow for improvements to the quality of life of the game and draws in new players (customers) then the suggestions aren't bad...they are impossible if the design isn't changed. I'll say it again and 1000x more if need be, but the current monetization model of Wurm is not sustainable. It's not sustainable to give people less leg room to play than on a cheap airline flight (f2p locks a lot of game options) and then wonder why many of those folks don't ever subscribe to the game. It's not sustainable to dismiss a potential demography of players in the thousands of f2p accounts that could add content and quality to the game (also recommendations to their friends to prem up) simply because : We HaVe To ReSpeCT MuH ALtS! My MoNEH kEEpS Da GaMe AlIve! Everyone sees how a "free weekend" might be used to abuse alts to sermons? Good. Then change the bloody sermon system so no abuse can take place so we can actually have ya know.....windows to recruit new people into wurm. I feel like grandp[a Simpson at this point.

    Games in hard mode also need rewards scaled to their difficulty. There is nothing significantly rewarding in forcing people to stare at timers, encourage afk gameplay until X task is done. Repetition isn't difficulty. I'd rather have our toons be devaluated as long as we had ya know....maybe 5000 unique players in the game? Besides, with RMT gone, what value does your toon have anyway except to yourself? Artificially slowing down progress tends to make players reevaluate their time spent in Wurm. That tends to make people quit when they figure out there isn't much content past the first 4-6 months of playing. If something can be done to speed up the game and diversify content instead of padding it out, which leads to the creation of more alts,. then maybe Wurm would have more unique players, instead of whales as people have eloquently put.

    Honestly? I'd be happy to make that sacrifice. Though, to be honest, I'd be much happier to see priests firmly removed from the world of alts because the current alt system hurts us BADLY.

    Mistakenly planted something in a planter today, and realized I could find no way to undo it, not even with a trowel. Would be nice if there were a way to "unplant" something in a planter.

    On the topic of new horse shapes: For anyone interested in the background of how this came about, anyone remember that suggestion I made many years ago about having different horse shapes? My thinking was that with a few tweaks of the mesh, we could literally triple the amount of horse variations in the game. And since we were now working on the animal update, I figured I'd show the team this old suggestion and to my surprise and delight, they really were enthusiastic to actually put this into motion! Now these old files I worked on were only done in the standing pose, so although I've handed the files over to to the team, it might be that slight alterations are needed to make them work with animations. However I do hope we can get as close as possible to these shapes. If anyone wants to see these suggested shapes in all the various horse colors, you can check them out here:

    Hmm, interesting, since you can turn off lamps if wanted to during night time, but fireplace doesn't turn off. See the difference? So I would say it isn't working as intended if compared how lamps work, because they don't act similarly in this turning off matter.

    Hello! I asked about this on CA help, where they advised me to create a forum topic about the issue. So the issue is that during night time, fireplaces turn automatically on. However, they cannot be snuffed off during night time, it is like forcing the fire stay lit until it is dawn again. This creates some inconvenience; I cannot load lit fireplace, so I would have to wait until dawn in order to do that. When trying to snuff it, it will turn off for half a second, then right after turns back on. I would assume this "forced lit" feature isn't meant as it is. This happens on deed.

    casual wurm player hides ondeed and shakes at the thought or picture of a bear.. probably more than half the wurm population is like that.. not fighting a troll unless it attacks them.. and they somewhat have the skill to fight it.. what helps this paranoia to run and not fight mobs.. is that gear is trash and skills are meme, at 99fs and proper armor .. you can still be killed by champion mob if it randomly starts the fight capped on focus(because for wurm's wogic it's ok and awesomely fun for this nonsense to be a thing); which creates the .. gear and skill vs creatures completely unpredictable scenarios.. you can not just tell a new player that ql50 weapon and 40ql armor will be fine vs a spider, shouldn't be vs a champ kind.. etc.. fighting events will work best is they are predictable for their location and time.. else you'll get bunch of sad faces of people being ganked by the random spawns.. might as well enable the tornados, thunderstorm and meteors to destroy deeds and housing at that point to unleash the rng pve grief just my 2 coppers

    Even more motivation for multiple deeds / strangers to group up as a bandit extermination team. it's how many friendships are forged in wurm. You see a new player struggling with a troll, you might just taunt the troll to let him escape. Or viceversa. Adversity breeds strong relationships.

    Funny how 1000 other games have auction houses and the market works well for them. Player interaction isn't dead in them. They actually have a healthier economy due to goods being available. But Wurm HAS to be Wurm. Has to be the different kid on the block that wants us to waste time just sailing for hours to deliver goods or begging in the trade chat for someone to buy something hoping they will be online. Pretty much my experience from trades. I don't think Iv'e spoken to anyone I've bought/sold items from after that. The social aspect in Wurm HAS to be voluntary not compelled. If we were to deconstruct all the arguments against an AH, we can see they're all flawed in the end. Kills Player interaction? Wipeout said it best. Destroys the market? How? Explain the economic mechanism. I'll wait and point out WHY marketplaces like Amazon went so big. Because they centralized item offer and demand on a platform. That's what an AH is basically. A trading platform. No more no less. Instead of people visiting 500 different websites comparing prices and delivery offers, they instead checked most things on 1 website. (Personally I'm not a fan of Amazon for ethical reasons and how they treat their employees. But I understand WHY they got so big in the first place.) What other arguments do we have against an AH? Lowers prices? Huh. Do we really need to go over Economy 101 again to adults? Seems like it. Supply and competitive offers lower prices. Wow! Really? So are you saying it's good for the customer? Who suffers from this? The greedy little ###### who want to not implement an AH in the game so they can sell their stuff at higher prices? "But hurr durr it's more immersive to find merchants/traders yourself." Immersive? Really ? ###### kidding me? What the ###### is immersive about finding a random merchant that DOESN"T talk, doesn't have witty banter, simply is nothing more than a sterile trade window. That's it What the hell is immersive about it? Do I have to sail all across the islands to all the merchants/players to find a decent deal? That's immersive? Not sorry about the rant but i'm really sick and tired to see people asking for an auction house for god knows how many years and people shutting it down with no solid arguments. Let's do everything possible in Wurm so players can't save time. Let's scroll through trade chat like it's 1997 again and try to find a specific message for a specific item you need. Let's browse forums hoping to find a decent price or auction....oh not....the FORBIDDEN word. An auction? Really...how many auctions have taken place on these forums? Hundreds by now? .But no...let's not code it in game...ruins everything.. Why put a centralized trade system to streamline a process that should be simple in the first place? This is Wurm. This is 2020. I don't expect anything to change.

    +1 No good reason why not. Imagine if the only way to empty a barrel was to drink the contents, or if the only way to remove an enchantment was to wait for it to fade naturally . . .
