    For me, 3rd person. Been wanting to play, and testing Wurm on and off since launch, but always got motion sick from 1st person. Played every day since 3rd person implemented!

    what people really fail to realize is the free players populate the world which in effect keeps more players, as its very common for people to leave a game because it feels dead or empty. one of the core reasons i dont play anymore is because theres no one to play with, i cant stand this game as a solo game, i started 11 years ago and back then the game despite being absolute dog crap compared to now with all the fancy bells and whistles was so much more fun because i played with people. i log in to epic to disband a deed and see no one in the only alliance on the server. i port back to independence to log off in the biggest alliance on the second most populated original freedom cluster server and see no one. if there was even just 10 f2p names playing in those lists as sad as that is that would make things actually feel alive in the steam launch discussion thread i suggested a f2p model like runescapes and rolf liked it. runescape allows f2p to get skills to max, just some are locked behind p2p and f2p lose access to the best skilling methods and the best gear. and yet as i write this there are 130k players online across osrs and rs3, and according to an article from jan 2020 they have over 1.1 million members. im sure its safe to tell the anti-f2p people that more f2p won't kill the game, but rather something far more obvious that has already been doing so for many years

    When I put seeds in my satchels to use for farming, the number of seeds in each satchel is not displayed on my tool belt in High or Low Graphics setting with new UI. See below screenshot: Left is old UI. Right is new UI. The number content count is absent in both High and Low graphics setting of the new UI. Old UI shows satchel counts on my toolbelt just fine. It was just now pointed out to me that the new UI toolbelt does not show when the item on the toolbelt is activated. This is unusable for me. Will you also fix the toolbelt in the new UI so that it will show an item that is activated. Activated items on a tool belt does show up as activated, unless its inside a satchel. In that case, the seed does get activated in my inventory, but nothing, there is no way to tell which satchel is activated on the tool belt. OMG REALLY? You are planning to force us to use the new glitched UI... It's unusable in its current state. Please fix this glitch before you shut down old UI. Thanks. Teeebomb

    Hello, Wurmians, and welcome to another Valrei International! I'd like to start off this one by thanking everyone who has reached out to me with congratulations and well wishes. I am very excited to be working with the team and the community in this role, and I have been working on ideas for fun community events and interactions (once I'm all settled in, of course!) This issue is a bit light on the content development side of things, but by the next issue I should have some more news to share with you all! Ready Your Weapons! After some public testing, our new combat update is now live! Fighting will be more interactive than ever, with the ability to choose separate offensive and defensive stances and some new visual clues on how the fight is progressing. Some of the bigger visual changes such as floating text and screen shaking are optional, so if they're not your cup of tea that's okay! We will continue tweaking things for a while to get it just right, and plan to reduce randomness in combat. We are also working on making archery more comfortable, and useful on PvE as well as PvP. To see all of the changes in the update, check out the patch notes below! Achievements Unlocked! Also live with this update is the new achievement system! These will be available both in Steam and in-game. There are 80 achievements to earn, all accompanied by some fancy new icons. They can be found in-game by navigating to the main menu and clicking the new "Goals" button. Community Event - Easter Impalong Easter Bunny is resting up to prepare for the upcoming festivities On Deliverance in the Southern Isles, a beautiful deed has been built especially for hosting community events throughout the year. I'm very excited to share the news of its Grand Opening Impalong scheduled for Easter weekend! From April 2nd (Good Friday) 18:00 CET / 12pm EST until Easter Sunday April 4th 22:00 CET / 4pm EST. I'm sure it'll be a hoppin' good time, with lots of eggcellent festivities. Check out the details on the post below! Our team is growing! And last but not least, I'd like to announce that we have a new contracted developer on the team! They have been working hard in the code basement but are still getting settled in, and asked for just a brief announcement at this time while they adjust to the new role.     So since the start of defiance we have added sea-creatures removed from the spawn table, no sharks, dolphins or octopi has spawned since day 1. This in itself is not a problem for day to day gameplay. But when we keep having missions to kill said creatures you can get stuck on a move (valrei map) for several days if unlucky. If you get these missions a few times during a scenario it can cause your kingdom to lose and as a player, there is nothing we can do about it. I see 2 ways to fix this problem Option 1 Add put sea creatures back on the spawn table Option 2 Take a look at the valrei missions table and remove the missions to slay creatures that do not exist

    when mining in cave and file is full, it should start "mining to inventory", as it happen at digging. in some cases that will prevent sad situations like that one: [02:39:44] You have a moment of inspiration... [02:39:44] There is no space to mine here. Clear the area first.

    Fixed. Thanks guys o7 Can close this. Ok. For the new UI. When I select a group of items in my knapsack (this same thing happens when I wear a normal backpack), then hover my cursor over that group, it does not show the number of items I have selected. This used to be a nice feature w/ the old UI, the new UI omits this information (while adding a bunch of other useless information in a huge vision impeding pop up with a border). My screenie below: Left image is old system, right image is new UI. You got rid of the only useful information I'm looking for, when I have a group of items selected, and added a largish window that has a lot of already listed/available information already on the screen in front of me right there, specific item QL/DMG/WT.. its all there already. I can see all that information very clearly already, if there were not a HUGE window blocking view of other important information. Anyways, just posting this cause I like to see that number of items I got selected in my knapsack when I am selecting multiple items. I'm certain this is an oversight and you guys never intended to get rid of this handy useful information. Hope you can fix this before I'm forced to use this new UI. Or.. is there already a check box somewhere ? that I can select to have ur huge pop up info window hidden? That would be nice. But will that fix my lost 'number of selected items' information? Thanks your time.

    Love the poll, but there are a few notable changes that are missing from the list: 1. Bridges 2. Underground building <-- my vote is for this one! 3. Fishing 4. Archaeology (not sure if this is as much of a change but rather an addition)

    It is interesting to note that WU servers offer almost everything being proposed to make wurm free players happy, and yet those populations are not exploding. Why? Free deeds? Check. Fast skill rate? Check? No riding restrictions? Check. QOL improvements? Check. No priest restrictions? Check. It's almost like there is no easy answer to this issue and simply pandering to free players isn't a silver bullet. Maybe allowing the "base" skills like carpentry, masonry, and farming to be uncapped and allowing 0 speed horse riding for free would help, then gate the "advanced" skills like shipbuilding, fine carp, and AH behind membership. Runescape, everyone's favorite ftp example, does this. Also, maybe changing the initial deed cost to 1s and 30 days upkeep will make it easier for new players although without a code change that "under 30 days upkeep" stuff will immediately got into effect. Many players I have known and experienced in the FTP games I have played are not committed to the games but are really just surfing their steam library looking for something to pass the time or are exploiters looking to min/max the rules, economy, and content. If the game fails, they just move on without a care in the world. Wurm being a long-term game isn't setup for instant gratification and as such will have a tough time drawing in steam library surfers, and it certainly isn't setup for free min/maxers exploiting the economy. This isn't to say Wurm is perfect, it isn't and does have many areas for tweaking but any change needs to carefully balance the existing game with new ideas. As a cautionary tale, think back to what Sony did to SWG as an example of what listening to the immediate gratification crowd can do when dealing with long-term crafters and an invested playerbase.

    Could you clarify; is there plans to adjust combat further in an effort to make it less random? Streamlining combat encounters, in a way? Also, is there any chance dual wielding could be looked at as well? Best piece of news here, I'd say. Once acquainted and settled, it'd be awesome to know a little about them as well as what they'll be focused working on!

    I asked Nessime to come to Cadence along with the Fo priestess Amanae. I had them bring a wonderful horse, the fifth I've bought from them. Amanae enchanted my mailbox, and looked at all our animals, and healed the bad traits. She also left us with an enchanted grass tile. These are top-notch horses and services, I strongly recommend these people. The prices were reasonable and the quality of goods and services excellent. And the people are kind. Can't beat that!

    I write the following as a person who loves Wurm, has played for a decade now and has paid premium throughout that time: I sometimes play for two or three hours during every evening and most of that time I see no chat at all in my server. If I was a new player just trying out Wurm I would probably give it a few days and then try somewhere else without discovering the amazing game that we have here. I also write this as a person who is not a 'chatty' person myself but do enjoy the feeling of belonging to a community. It is therefore surely evident that some things need to be tried out in order to encourage people to try Wurm and then stay. As MrGARY stated earlier and elentari expanded on, free to play characters can in fact be just as important as those like me who pay. They help create the sense of community, they help with the 'imagination' of a vibrant active world that is simply waiting to be explored. In the real world, the VIP who pays more money for a better view of a sports event is no more important than the crowd in the tier furthest away from the action who in fact are the ones who create the atmosphere at such events. What could be done? That is the great unknown but it will remain unknown until ideas have been tried out. As a premium player I receive rewards every month that I can exchange for items that benefit me in-game. I would be quite happy if that was the main difference between f2p and p2p- I am sure that others would disagree! I would also take a risk with substantially raising the levels achievable by f2p to at least 70. This would allow the 'free' player more time to get involved (hooked) in Wurm. I suspect that those who remain for longer will be more likely to invest in the premium side the further up-the-ladder they travel. Events are often a source of great enjoyment in Wurm for older and some new players and there are those players who put a great deal of time, money and effort into creating things such as impalongs and unique hunts. Most of them seem to be the sort of person who does it for the love of the game but I feel that it would be good if such people received something not obtainable by others as a commemoration of their input into Wurm. Are my ideas, comments and suggestions going to help? Quite possibly not and earlier Maiya wrote something that will ring a bell; 'Common sense- if too many people enjoy the free ride... and not enough people help pull, the wagon is not going anywhere' I would try to be a little more positive and say that if we had more people enjoying the ride some of them may be encouraged to get off the cart and start pulling.

    The toolbelt is also not showing satchel contents like seeds, so sowing fields with it is no fun.
