At the moment, wurm is a very static game. Barring trees slowly eating meadows and stepped and grass at war, not much happens without player intervention. Here are a few simple ideas to make the world feel more alive. 1. Make flowers prevent bushes/trees spawning adjacent (and over) them, unless a tree/bush is already adjacent. This helps preserve meadows, while still allowing forests to grow back over time. 2. Give steppe's more features: seasonal flower variants of their own as well as changing their mob movement priority to high in spring/summer but low in autumn/winter so critters leave surrounding forests in the warmer weather and retreat back in the winter 3. Differentiate between 'beach sand' (10 tiles away from a salt waterlogged tile) and 'desert sand'; the former spawning shells and palms with a higher spawn rate of seals and crabs, the latter scattered cacti and a new set of mid--high tier forage/botanist opportunities to offset the risk of dangerous critters. 4. Cliff-hugging plant species that yield useful resources for climbers who reach them. More so, mountain plants that only grow above a certain elevation to better reward people living far inland. 5. Fern tiles, an alternative to grass that does not impede dense tree growth; offering denser and more dangerous forests in return for faster tree growth rates. Slowly spreading once an area has a thick enough forest. 6. Allow moss to spread inside caves, near entrances to mines and near underground water sources. Let us plant it and bring some green! If a mine tile has a tree planted overhead, give us some roots that can be cut back if desired. 7. Allow swamps to spread more easily far from trees, but make swamps easier to remove. Give swamps their own trees (mangroves) and allow reeds to grow into swamps to provide more resources. 8. Give abandoned (unused) roads a 'mossy' texture after a while; moss clearing once 3 people walk over a tile in 24 hours and only occurring on road tiles that are not highways. 9. (added 26/04/2023) Give us another coastal flower with a twist - let us plant flowers on marsh tiles to give lily pads whose flower colour matches the planted flower type.

We have a ton of crafters all up in the high 90s now on NFI servers. In my alliance alone, we have WS, PS, BS and mining up in the 90s. Seems reasonable to bring back the 99QL lumps? So many players bought them before the nerf, which gives them the exclusive ability to get their armor and weapons imped high, while the rest of us have to settle for 80. Games should never do nerfs that ignore the past, giving exclusivity and balance tipping advantage to a select few. Wurm seems to be great at it. Unleash the QL 99 lumps! (pretty please?)

Hello! In contrast to typical survival mechanics and rationale for balancing purposes, I believe Comfort may provide an appropriate alternative. Design philosophies: Avoid negative association Avoid sense of obligation Address long-standing issues of the game Create opportunities for role-play Create new demand for underutilized parts of the game What is it? Comfort is intended as a metric to fulfill various requirements through activities to reach various thresholds (and rewards). As thirst and hunger affect the regeneration of stamina along with other effects, Comfort would affect a character's ability to tolerate and recuperate from hardship. What are its benefits? Adequate amounts of Comfort may, in no particular order, and depending on how diligent one has been, grant the player the ability to: Recover skill lost on death Reduce skill lost on death Reduce the limitations of Fatigue Pending benefits: Slightly increase skill gain Slightly improve creation chance Slightly improve rare rolls How do you "lose" Comfort? By being uncomfortable, of course! Comfort may be reduced by certain things so long as the benefits of Comfort directly correlate, such as: Damage taken Time spent wounded Time spent without food or water Death Being without protection in seasons such as Winter and Summer, and weather such as rain and snow Traveling for long periods How do you increase your Comfort? In the same way that its benefits offer ways to deal with existing penalties and limitations, the ways that one would increase their Comfort may involve Comfortable activities, such as: Consuming alcohol, baked goods, beverages(tea, fruit juice, hot cocoa) Praying on favored tiles with adequate distance Maintaining variety of comforting activities Training a skill with an affinity Witnessing a Sermon Meditating How do you avoid losing Comfort? In the spirit of being casual enough that anyone can do it, while being just out-of-the-way that it doesn't simply get ignored, Comfort may be maintained by: Wearing clothing (other armors no effect) Wearing jewelry Being in pleasant environments (flowers, furniture, lawns, flowers, statues, etc) Standing near a fire during Winter while outdoors Staying indoors during inclement weather (tents count too!) Using polearms and bows during combat Maintaining one's needs such as thirst and hunger Why should this be added? A new Needs-based mechanic may be warranted for the added flexibility when providing incentives. Current metrics are inflexible for encompassing a wider area of the game; It can make use of aspects of the game that are ill-fitting for current needs-based mechanics as well as addressing long-standing gripes. Adding a new layer also disrupts current game balance the least if handled correctly. How might this affect the game? The parts of the game involved in increasing, diminishing, and maintaining Comfort will be affected. This is of course very important. So for your consideration here are ways that Comfort may impact how you play: Archery becomes a little more appealing for hunting Beverages and Baking become more distinguished skills and as a way to provide Comfort for others. As a necessary drawback, baked goods offer no nutrients. The Grind is broken up into soft breaks Death becomes more tolerable (good for PvP!) Clothing receives passive edge against armor Cosmetic objects provide a bonus beyond simple appreciation Skills such as Gardening, polearms, archery, enjoy greater purpose Prolonged combat reduces Comfort unless action is taken (big one, not sure how to address) Thank you for reading! What should be included? What should be taken out? What is wrong with this idea? I expect only the most scathing reviews!

During the RMT sellout I had purchased a bunch of old 50kg anvils, with the goal of reuniting them with their creators (Also was hoping to get a rare or supreme one). Providing of course their creators still play. A bunch had the same name, but I took out the doubles and below is a list of the anvils and they are renamed with their creator. If anyone knows if these players are still around and can direct me to them, or if that player can see this and respond. I would appreciate that. The anvils will then be mailed to the creator free of charge. Also in an effort to find more Anvils to return please see the below thread.

it's pretty silly that they aren't 99ql anymore, very little actual gameplay impact and now the only ways to get 95+ reasonably now are being a fo priest at a rift, or doing hota on pvp for servers that can *actually* trade with them lol if it makes you feel any better effective ql is curved so much that imping weapons/armor to 90ql is completely pointless anyway, the difference between 80ql and 90ql is like 3% dmg/reduction for close to 3x the time/material to imp at 99 skill/95ql tools, reminds me of when they nerfed artifacts to be 75ql instead of 90ql on defiance and it had 0 impact on any of the combat ones lol

Just make it so we can lock the items we dont want to loose, just like we lock windows on screen when we want to take them out of inventory agan ...then just unlock them again.

These suggestions all sound excellent, except the tree roots in caves. I'd rather have glow worms or crystals in cave ceilings. As it is now, I am really annoyed by tree stumps poking down into the cave ceilings. I could possibly see roots in old off-deed caves that have not been used in a while, much like your idea for unused roads.

Yes. The graphic for the backpack depicts a bedroll, so it would be nice to depict the actual backpack when loaded. The backpack, like a lot of items, needs slots. Characters and animals have equipment slots, so backpacks and most vehicles should also have slots.

Aye wrong topic, the complaint has nothing to do with nutrition. I can fill my toon's food bar with raw meat, so should her pet with grass. We demand street salads back in the menu for our beloved pets 😆

Having owed chickens, they do graze as fresh grass and greens is a very important part of the diet, of course we have the bugs, worms and extras hiding in the grass as tasty treats. They also eat small stone to help with digestion. My chickens have attacke and killed and eat down to the bone a rat before also, insane! Dogs eat grass not for food, its to relieve upset tummies and help with passing matter. I second the thoughts above about chickens on grass tiles, will stay fed but not lay eggs or lay eggs not very often, rest of the changes seem spot on.

I agree that confirmation windows SUCK, but if it's just right clicking an item and selecting "favorite" and then it being unable to be sold I think that's fine. Those that don't want to use the system don't have to deal with it and those that want to take advantage of it can. Terraria has a pretty good model for this. -1 to any confirmation windows. There should almost always be a way to get the effect you want without confirmation windows. I do appreciate you trying to minimize it though.

you cant compare a game like wurm with a game like diablo or path finder, there is no comparison there....the seasons there would be nothing like here where u lose entire cities. the nfi servers either way they either quit prems on there sfi or the nfi so they lose prems regardless. a merge is in the best interest of the game once the economy is stable. having a united community connected is better then losing one community completely. imo they never should have released new servers and only promoted new servers. the old servers lost players and gained nothing..that in its own right is destroying the game. the wurm unlimited release another bad decision playerbase wise. each decision they have made has been about a money grab as much money as they can get, and each one has deuterated the playerbase even more. if they changed already established servers into seasons, they would lose there whole playerbase...non of us will agree to losing years worth of work building cities this isnt rust, ark, atlas, or any modern game and you cant compare any of them to this. wurm has and always will be a unique gaming experience. and should be promoted to that end. not only that the games u speak of are 1 time purchase, they dont have a monthly premium, they dont have paid deeds, there isnt a way to get coin really in game to fund the things you need to, so it forces someone to buy that coin which forces a economy in game so players can make coin...i wont pay for a seasonal account to be wiped or a deed i pay for to be wiped. thats just stupid and a waste of money. they would literally have to remove that entire bases that funds the game. wurm is not an instant satisfaction type of game and never will be.

season servers are a bad idea imo...i wouldn't play for them...it takes to long to grind level and get things and most of us don't play 24/7. also jackal server was basicly that and it was more of a flop it started off good and then became less popular...no-one wants to work hard for everything just to lose it all, its why the pvp servers cant keep a player base. now if they want to add a single server that has a yearly season sure, but to over all change the game will never happen. part of the reason servers don't reset is for the historical view points it brings, of kingdoms falling, deeds that existed its why archology was added...

There is a reason why names database is shared across NFI and SFI. For possible merging. Not sure if and when it happen but it is still a valid option. If it was sealed that it will never happen, then NFI would have it's own database and most of new players could pick up "normal" names instead looking for wild variations, couse most obvious names are already taken.

all i can say as someone whos playing on both SFI and NFI, i think a merger should be within the next 6 months...SFi is died down because all of us have made alts to play on NFI because the community went there. the player base and community should never be split like this... now you could merge it similarly like the guy at the top mentioned and make it a single route from sfi and nfi by ship with no mailing system....at least then it is more historic, and it will not flood the market so easily by forcing people to sail quite a ways to trade said items, but it would allow the community to at least be a whole again. Its something new and different why not try it. without the danger and other weird stuff he mentioned...lol, could even put a server toll on it for all i care. to cross from SFI to NFI you have to purchase a ticket or something to have in your inventory. there is a lot of things that could be used to slow the issues people will have with the economy. Its not like there aren't solutions to these problems.

My gut says after one year of isolation, they will merge. In 6 months, we have hit high 90s in most of the critical skills. Within another 6 months, 90s skills will be common place. The market is getting closer to equalizing - not there yet! But it is getting closer. SFI went up and NFI is coming down. Gems are now about equal. SP was 3s, now bounces between 2s and 1.5s. Enchants and rares are still high. Bulk is 1.5 to 2x on NFI. Beams and concrete equal or at times lower on NFI. The biggest complaints on merging will be in the Uniques dominance. Right now it is highly exclusive and how can it not be? Dragon scale and hide are almost priceless for being so rare. Once servers merge, the exclusivity changes dramatically. Players holding multiple sets will get to sell to NFI players at 2-3x what they go for on SFI. There will be tons of heartache from those that enjoyed being at the top on NFI and make crazy good silver marketing, but in time that business will shrink regardless of merging or not. The big benefit in the merge will be the excitement for migrating from one cluster to another. This will being in more subs from older, bored players and new deeds on both clusters. More subs and deeds pays the bills, so the benefit to the company can't be ignored, just for the sake of some players market position. Think about those players too. They make bank from other players, so they don't have to buy silver from the company or subscriptions from the company. If they go, it probably isn't going to impact the revenue a great deal. The ones that spend the silvers are the ones that need to be retained. Remember all the trader drainers? How Code Club managed to keep that train wreck going for so long, supporting a group of players to play for free, was beyond me. "Here, spend a little money now and you have a lifetime subscription to the game and we will never see another dime from you, thank you!" That was the worst business model ever. They figured it out, fixed it and made the game better for players that spend money to play. So, TLDR: They will merge when they feel it will be better for the game revenue than keeping them separate.
