There is a reason why names database is shared across NFI and SFI. For possible merging. Not sure if and when it happen but it is still a valid option. If it was sealed that it will never happen, then NFI would have it's own database and most of new players could pick up "normal" names instead looking for wild variations, couse most obvious names are already taken.

My gut says after one year of isolation, they will merge. In 6 months, we have hit high 90s in most of the critical skills. Within another 6 months, 90s skills will be common place. The market is getting closer to equalizing - not there yet! But it is getting closer. SFI went up and NFI is coming down. Gems are now about equal. SP was 3s, now bounces between 2s and 1.5s. Enchants and rares are still high. Bulk is 1.5 to 2x on NFI. Beams and concrete equal or at times lower on NFI. The biggest complaints on merging will be in the Uniques dominance. Right now it is highly exclusive and how can it not be? Dragon scale and hide are almost priceless for being so rare. Once servers merge, the exclusivity changes dramatically. Players holding multiple sets will get to sell to NFI players at 2-3x what they go for on SFI. There will be tons of heartache from those that enjoyed being at the top on NFI and make crazy good silver marketing, but in time that business will shrink regardless of merging or not. The big benefit in the merge will be the excitement for migrating from one cluster to another. This will being in more subs from older, bored players and new deeds on both clusters. More subs and deeds pays the bills, so the benefit to the company can't be ignored, just for the sake of some players market position. Think about those players too. They make bank from other players, so they don't have to buy silver from the company or subscriptions from the company. If they go, it probably isn't going to impact the revenue a great deal. The ones that spend the silvers are the ones that need to be retained. Remember all the trader drainers? How Code Club managed to keep that train wreck going for so long, supporting a group of players to play for free, was beyond me. "Here, spend a little money now and you have a lifetime subscription to the game and we will never see another dime from you, thank you!" That was the worst business model ever. They figured it out, fixed it and made the game better for players that spend money to play. So, TLDR: They will merge when they feel it will be better for the game revenue than keeping them separate.

I can definitely say that such a deportation and wanton destruction of all I created in over three years would spell the end of wurming for me. And I am quite certain that same would apply to most of my friends and allies. I do not deny that many would enjoy more players close by. But many would detest it too. I made the experience of a toxic neighbour once, and am not eager for any repetition. I love the width and freedom of Xanadu, and even when the clusters will eventually be merged, cannot imagine to live on NFI, even with the already reduced population. I would love more players, but not more congestion.

I like the thought behind this, but this has been a recurring issue with Wurm. First overcrowding (all the good coastal spots are taken up, and exploration is needed to find an easy deed location) then expansion (new servers) New people stop going to the older servers and some of those server players leave for the new server in hopes of better locations or maybe chasing the population. I think this game is worlds better with an active server. I don’t know the answer to the problem though unfortunately. Xanadu definitely wasn’t it; but was a great effort on their part (they tried something new and went for it). This is really the only sandbox mmo I’ve played and gotten into. Almost LIF and threw money in their development but it didn’t keep my interest. So I don’t know what others are doing, but I’d love to see a way for them to have better player retention and more active server populations.

Or.. Take more care if these things are indeed precious. I know that may sound harsh, but as soon as you start putting confirmations and warnings on stuff the result is often a small temporary benefit offset by a major drawback of too many confirmations. Once people get a lot of "are you sure?" type confirmations they tend to stop paying much attention to them and just confirming without thought. The solution to that is a second confirmation, which then.... well you can see how that goes. I know a guy who wrote a program that always asked for a confirmation on close - but would select the text from a list, some of which were asking you to confirm that you were wiping your hard drive or sending a greeting card to all of your contacts. He asked a lot of people to check out his program, and when he sought feedback hardly any had noticed the content of the confirmation message.

Aye. We have two dogs, both enjoy grazing, with no ill effect. They are omnivores, "omni" meaning "alll; the eat all sorts of food, including fruit, veges, grains and grasses. Chickens are also omnivores. They will kill and eat small mammals and other birds.

I can't really provide any insight on to how prayer skill gain was changed, but I can definitely provide some context as to how it worked before. Beyond that, I can say with certainty that 70 prayer in 70 hours is completely bogus. A quick math assuming unrealistic values would demonstrate that, using reported skill ticks. Here's one from my own experience previously. 0.0060 skill gained in a ~30.0 second action. This results in a 0.0002 skill per second rate of gain. Of course, this assumes the player remains at 37 prayer for the entirety of the duration and gains skill on every tick (both unrealistic, but let's continue). With 0.0002 skill per second, we multiply by 60 and end up with 0.012 skill per minute. Transposed into hours, we multiply again by 60 and result in 0.72 skill per hour. Finally, multiplying that value by 70, assuming the prayer skill gain remains stable at the rate that 37 prayer skill would provide, results in 50.4 skill after 70 hours. Major disclaimer: All of this is nonsensical and represents a method of skilling that is entirely unrelated to the way skilling actually works. So let's move on to how skilling actually functions. Prayer, previously, would use a skill check to determine your success which had a difficulty between (prayerSkill - 30) and (prayerSkill - 60) at random. If the value fell below 1, it would then default to a skill check with 1 difficulty (since the skill system does not work with difficulty below 1). Additionally, it would use your faith as a bonus value to curve your skill and adjust your skill gain accordingly. We can use the grinder tool to take a look at a few examples, using skill - 45 as an average for the skill checks: 50 Skill, 1 Faith: ~37% skill tick rate 50 Skill, 100 Faith: ~15% skill tick rate 60 Skill, 1 Faith: ~35% skill tick rate 60 Skill, 100 Faith: ~15% skill tick rate So that's tick rate estimates. But how much action time does it take to get there? Well, as it turns out, I worked with a mathematician at one point and devised a formula to closely represent the action timers, assuming no buffs (no vynora, no PoK, etc) to reach any given skill, assuming tick rate was ignored. The formula was as follows, for those mathematically inclined: -difficulty/100*((skill*skill/2+100*skill+10000*ln(100-skill))-(100.5+10000*ln(99))) This would result in a rough estimation of decaseconds (10 second intervals) required to achieve the desired skill. Most skills operate in the ~10 second action timer area, so this decasecond estimation is as close as we can realistically get without spending excessive amounts of work devising a more accurate formula. So at this point you're probably reading this like "Ok Sindusk, weird flex but how about in laymens terms?" To which, I answer: Graph. This uses the above formula to estimate the rough amount of time in raw decaseconds it would take to achieve any given skill level in Prayer (or any 4000 difficulty skill). It would take 103,553 decaseconds, or 1,035,530 seconds of raw, uninterrupted, 100% skill tick rate prayer skill gain to achieve prayer skill 70. This equates to 17,258 minutes, or 287 hours. Factoring in a rough 40% skill tick rate with 1 faith (somewhat unrealistically high, but we'll be optimistic), we're looking at 719 hours of skill gain required to get 70 prayer (without Vynora, PoK, etc). If you have the standard 15% skill tick rate due to having 100 faith, you're instead looking at 1,917 hours of skill gain required to get to 70 prayer (without Vynora, PoK, etc). We're also not factoring in Soul, Soul Strength, Soul Depth, and Religion skills which would have a negative impact on skill tick rate assuming higher values, especially at lower Prayer skill. These modifications are much more slight in nature than the ones discussed, so they can safely be ignored since we're not looking for pinpoint accuracy, just a rough ballpark. I have no idea how this statement was reached, but judging from anecdotal knowledge and backed through the mathematics of what I've shown above, it's very far from accurate. Assuming the rest of the statements are true, and the new skill gain is roughly 3x faster, you're still looking at somewhere between 200 and 700 hours of prayer grind to get 70 prayer before factoring in skill gain bonuses.

Add fletcher and bower graphics (and likely many others) to shop signs. Add hanging signs that can be placed on the sides of things. Remove the hover over item name from signs so that only the renamed name appears. Similar to carts and wagons. Honestly I don't know why renaming doesn't always completely replace the item name.

now that theres no need to lock faith at 1 and pray on rock (mag) water (vyn) nature (fo) etc, tiles to prevent faith gain for optimal skilling of prayer, is it possible we get these enabled to give faith gains so that people who roam and hunt a lot can get their faith gains along the way, and aren't chained to an altar 24/7?

Now accepting payment on both NFI (northern freedom isles) and SFI (southern freedom isles) clusters !! Welcome to Tourniquets Vyn Enchantment Emporium. The priest is 99.40 Channeling with Benediction (+5 Power). The emporium is primarily selling an On Demand Custom Enchant services. Simply name your item with the requested enchant/s and mail your item to Tourniquet . The mail box is checked several times daily so usually turnaround is typically within a day or less. Please see below pricing along with some pre-casted item that are also available; Pre-Casted Items - Update 31/05/2021 On Demand Custom Enchants Per Cast Pricing - Blanket Charge No Matter What the Cast (Weps/Tools/Other) Horse Gear Set Enchant Prices - 4x Shoes + 1x Saddle Armor Set ASoP Enchant Prices - 9 Pieces Please appreciate that non-pre casted pricing has to be a bit more generalized due to RNG unpredictability. But I do my best to provide a good service and generally casts are towards the higher end of the power bracket and so good value. If I exceed your requested bracket there is no extra charge, it's just your lucky day! Just don't forget to tip every once in a while to keep me sweet right 😉 Mend Casting Casting mend is a free service for ppl who have previously purchased items and or enchantments from me If its your first service purchase the cost is 20c. Shatter Risk Although chances are dramatically lower at this level of channeling with benediction, the chance of shattering is roughly 0.0223%, in other words statistically 1 in 3,351 casts will shatter the item. As this is a purely an RNG event I will not accept responsibility for any items shattered and or provide any form of compensation. My advice would is that if the item is precious i.e. rare etc consider improving the items quality to a minimum of QL50 before sending for casting. QL50 upwards will help negate the chances of a negative cast being powerful enough to shatter the item, the higher the item QL the higher the negative cast required to shatter the item. Simples Customer Feedback / Requests Please feel free to leave reviews whether it be the good, the bad, the ugly, all are welcome to help inform customers of the service provided. If you are looking for an item that is not for sale here chances are other ppl are also looking for the item too. Again feel free to post or send me a DM about items you would like to see in the store and I will do what can to add them to the store if possible.

And doors that are "through" the back of the open fireplace. If y'all need me, I'll be over here, designing secret passageways.

We're more concerned with the relative improvement of the change, which ended up at a similar point in the fixed simulation, rather than any given target hours. We feel it's a good middle point between preserving the efforts of the skilling done before the update (as that is something that we're always going to consider when changing any skilling mechanics) and making it much much less of a pain to get up, so no, it's not going to be undone.

Ok so to summarize my experience having done 70 prayer on two priests now its a bit of a slog but doable. Here are the numbers for my Fo priest having got to 23 prayer before the patch only praying for faith gains then grinding after the first patch and continuing to 70 from there. I used sleep bonus almost the entire time and affinity food too. true.. no timeframe or exact date have ever been spoken/written by the staff. both listed reasons are hilarious: 1) servers are identical, that's the reason we had rmt removed, etc.. 2) 'veterans' already gutted the market on nfi, there's only benefit for new players reaching broader market of services and lowering the prices for some goods and services with a "few more" shops (have in mind whoever had a big shop/market on old cluster, started a new one on the new cluster.. if there's anyone to win anything here.. it's again the same people; do not be confused that you have too much to win from a merge.. with few small exceptions... rare and unique loot like NY gifts/moon metals/dragon drops/kingdom wares/unique game items for pve/pvp.. stuff that are unique will go higher in price with the demand; while bulk sales will be rules by same people from two sides.. even if old cluster have no active premiums at the moment. could be rekindled to work and supply.. at the very least.. some will have bulk laying around and ready to sell.

IRL, Buoys are picked up and cleaned roughly once every 4 or so years for some, and upto once every 15 years for other types. It would make sense to have them no decay, or to decay at such a slow rate, as they are not quickly decaying items in any sense.

season servers are a bad idea imo...i wouldn't play for them...it takes to long to grind level and get things and most of us don't play 24/7. also jackal server was basicly that and it was more of a flop it started off good and then became less popular...no-one wants to work hard for everything just to lose it all, its why the pvp servers cant keep a player base. now if they want to add a single server that has a yearly season sure, but to over all change the game will never happen. part of the reason servers don't reset is for the historical view points it brings, of kingdoms falling, deeds that existed its why archology was added...

all i can say as someone whos playing on both SFI and NFI, i think a merger should be within the next 6 months...SFi is died down because all of us have made alts to play on NFI because the community went there. the player base and community should never be split like this... now you could merge it similarly like the guy at the top mentioned and make it a single route from sfi and nfi by ship with no mailing system....at least then it is more historic, and it will not flood the market so easily by forcing people to sail quite a ways to trade said items, but it would allow the community to at least be a whole again. Its something new and different why not try it. without the danger and other weird stuff he mentioned...lol, could even put a server toll on it for all i care. to cross from SFI to NFI you have to purchase a ticket or something to have in your inventory. there is a lot of things that could be used to slow the issues people will have with the economy. Its not like there aren't solutions to these problems.

I have no idea how much a slate statue of Libila is worth, but I am very interested in it if someone could help me out with a price check.

That won't be a problem. It should be done in the next 8 hours or so. Thank you.

It could be a nice design idea. Perhaps a ramp to an upper floor and a lower floor as a 'basemenet'?

they are some steam reviews definitely are memey/jokes for sure, but most of them still have a level of truth to them people just don't like hearing that a majority of people think this game sucks. part of that can be attributed to the fact this game is SUPER niche and we should expect most people not to like it. but the other part can be attributed to the game being poorly managed and updated.

That's pretty depressing to hear someone say. A few of them had some pretty good arguments about the game. Not all of it is just spam or review bombs. And the numbers we gained from launch didn't stick around. Their complaints have some merit, and until we address that, no matter how much we advertise this game, we will keep bleeding people out.

I don't think advertising will necessarily fix things. It's important and relevant to look at why people are leaving and address it. We had a large number of people when Steam Wurm started, the ads worked, but they didn't last. That will just keep going, they might get drawn in, but unless we can fix what is pushing them away, it won't last.

If you secure the sign, It should fix this for you, at least it used to work that way. I agree, more options are always better in these kinds of cases!

While this is true, the point being made is that people do definitely consider the review ratings before trying/buying a game. Luckily for Wurm, it is free to try so people aren't worried about wasting money, so they may still give it a shot but I'm sure there are people out there who see any review rating below Positive and move along down the list of games without much of a second thought. Time is valuable. Suggesting steam ratings aren't cared about is a bit foolish, no?

Have you considered joining an active village and not requiring them to pay you? I know you've made previous posts saying you'll join someone's village as long as they pay you 30 silver a month while really only being able to provide Enchanted Grass and playing up to an hour or so a day. Hate to see someone quit the game because people aren't talking yet they won't join one of the most social aspects of the game (villages) unless they're paid to do so.

Elwood Elwood was/is his original Southern Freedom Isles character, Elwood2 is for Northern Freedom Isles and the forum name he's using most now. You might want to confirm with him before mailing a 50 kg large anvil. Just ask him about wood scraps when you contact him about it!

I've been playing Wurm Online and only just come to Unlimited and noticed there is no 3rd person view, I can't play without it I don't think. Is there a mod or something to show the characters on the screen?

To attempt a visual explanation of why people are mad.. Here is the current comparison between the old imbue and previous imbues. People don't have an issue with 1-80. People have an issue with 80+. What you need is a function that works better than the old imbues at early levels, but worse at higher levels. One already exists that could accomplish this goal. The epic curve. This isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than what was put out there. Beyond that, if you had actually taken the months of time to actually consider your options and spent even a single day crunching numbers to figure out the math you wanted, you could have come up with a function to easily match whatever you were actually looking to achieve instead of the released linear progression which is just a slap in the face to everyone. Some examples using the method f(x) = ((x/100)^b)*100 where x is skill and b is a value to determine the strength of the curve. This function is outrageously simple. Divide by 100 to get a value less than 1, power to a variable 0-1 to get a higher value that remains less than 1, then multiply by 100 again. This took mere minutes to think of. To me, the function b = 0.5 is very similar to the progression by the new formula, but offers better results towards the end. Here they are overlayed: Now this isn't perfect, but this at least allows 80QL veins to offer 90QL ores. The results towards the end are roughly doubled and offer about a 50% increase towards 100 instead of the existing 25%. Meanwhile, it doesn't break the game and allow people with 20 skill to mine 60QL ores in the event of a linear function. Its most potent application grants +25QL at early points in the progression. TLDR: The new formula is overly simplistic and does not actually solve the problems properly. Instead, it's an underhanded mega-nerf at those who have invested in imbues in the past and spent their time grinding their skills to make the most use of them. Meanwhile, the people who benefit the most from the new formula are those at early skill levels who, quite frankly, don't have imbues in the first place.

How would you plan a bride from a pillar then? One person has to get on top of it to plan a bridge, which was the original idea for the suggestion- to be able to build a 1x1 tile pillar as a bridge support with no openings on the ground floor. I suppose one could build a wood pillar next to it with ladders to get to height they needed to plan keep the pillar going up and to access the floors where the bridge needs to go, then destroy the wood/ladder pillar when done. Just something that would need to be thought through if a "pillar" object was put into the game. Or perhaps a much simpler solution: Insert a rule in the building mechanics that gives a notice when finishing the first floor of a building with no doors or openings on the ground floor: "You cannot build the last wall to this structure from the inside" Require the builder and all other players to be outside the building when the last wall is completed in such a case. Has this solution not been suggested yet? It seems a simple and easy fix.

What would be really useful is an affinity calculator - cook a set meal, see what it gives, punch it in with the affinity you want, and the generator comes up with a recipe to give that.
